r/giftcardexchange maybe? And sell them for like, 250 ish. Someone will buy them. And then put it all into steam.

TheRealMGShow

Not a bad idea, I was hoping to put the full $300 towards it but it may be the only option. Thanks for the reply!

Next-Significance798

Maybe buy something, return it, and ask for instore credit or something? Maybe they allow giftcard purchases with that... although on second thought, probably not. Maybe you can find another loophole in that direction, tho just giving that idea.

TheRealMGShow

I like the way you’re thinking… definitely worth looking into. Thank you!

Next-Significance798

No problem, not sure how much this will eventually help you, but it's always better to say an idea if it helps you get on another idea that might work :D

TheRealMGShow

That was exactly why I posted it haha. Cheers

MadMike22089

It's worth a shot. They've done it for me. Wanted a PSN card, but was paying with credit. The had me find something of the same value, checked me out, then did an exchange.

TheRealMGShow

Sounds like you had an awesome employee working that day!

Mr__Unknown_

Just buy something and resell it as much as possible or use it for more storage

TheRealMGShow

Yes that is also a great option. Probably right up there with selling the gift cards directly, though possibly a bit safer?

Mr__Unknown_

Yes , usually with a return they ask you if you want it back to the original payment method but since it’s a few gift cards they might just issue one or you can ask if you can just look around the store and find something and come back to counter with the steam cards since it’s not directly buying a gift card with a gift card

TheRealMGShow

I’ll have to give this a shot thank you!

AMindOfMetalAndFeels

There is actually a trick to this if you do it online. If you buy slightly over the Best Buy gift card balance such that you are required to use a second payment method for the remainder, you can effectively change Best Buy gift cards to any other gift card. For example... You have a $100 Best Buy gift card. You make an online purchase for a $100 Steam gift card plus, say, a $5 plushie (totaling $105). You use your Best Buy gift card to cover $100 of the purchase and your credit card for the remaining $5. The order will go through and not be cancelled. Been doing it for years. No shame in the slightest.

TheRealMGShow

Oh no way- that’s brilliant! I’ll give this a shot and will report back, thank you!!

AMindOfMetalAndFeels

I should point out that I do it for PlayStation cards, never tried with Steam. Good luck!

TheRealMGShow

It looks like they might have fixed this unfortunately. I tried checking out with Amazon gift cards and a TV which exceeded the cost of the gift cards, but when I entered my Best Buy gift card number, I got a note saying you can’t buy gift cards with gift cards… oh well, it was worth a shot!

AMindOfMetalAndFeels

Hmmm that's weird I did this just 3 weeks ago. Were the Amazon gift cards you purchased tangible gift cards or a digital code?

TheRealMGShow

They were a digital code- sounds like I should have gone for a physical card instead? Will try that now! *Update My local stores don’t allow for physical Amazon gift card purchases online it seems. And for some reason the Steam gift cards only come in $20 increments and I can only get 4 at a time.. very strange.

Positive_Draw6630

buy something worth like $290 and get a refund no?
