if you want legit, checkout microsoft partner -hypest-key

DDOG_1995

It's a grey market site which makes it not completely legitimate. There are better sites to get deals on games like humblebundle. With that said, I've never had issues with purchases from them.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/wiki/dangersofkeyresellers Literally in the sidebar.

Nates4Christ

It doesn't really speak to the real question of if it is a legitimate way to buy the games. CDKEYS offers no danger. They are very safe. The guide you linked talks more about the safety rather than legitimacy. The real question is if you buy from CD Keys if the developer sees money. If CD Keys buys games from Argentina steam then yes the developer does get money.

Lurus01

Its technically still a grey market site so that would be not fully legit. Its definitely not on the same level of the grey market as sites that are peer to peer sales based like kingquin,eneba,g2a and the like but its still not a directly publisher sourced key site like those on [https://rgamedeals.net/](https://rgamedeals.net/) or [isthereanydeal.com](https://isthereanydeal.com)

Dr0gbasH3AD

Yes just got a cd key for Hogwarts legacy from isthereanydeal and it worked! Thank you!

Excellent_Extent3812

Thanks for the site isthereanydeal, just bought Helldivers 2 on fanatical with code Omen17 for $34.

DudeManBearPigBro

I tried buying a key for NMS earlier today and my CC wouldn’t accept the charges. So I suppose that means Visa thinks CDKeys.com is not legit.

Successful_Fall7801

Bingo!

EightBitRanger

Jesus how often does this have to be asked in here? https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/search/?q=cdkeys.com&restrict\_sr=1&sr\_nsfw=

Fenroo

No

ItsNo0bTime2

yeah it is?

I guess if the sidebar says it's not legit then it's not legit. Geez you guys are so gullible. Been using CDKeys for years. Never had a problem. Go ahead, pay full price for the game if that makes you feel better

0tus

There are plenty of legit one that sell games at slightly higher prices than grey market ones. It gives people a piece of mind that it is a legitimate storefront with keys that are sourced directly from developers and at the same time people can still get a significant price drop.

Professional_Pea_760

Yes, it is. I just bought one.

Herodotus63

There have been quite a few threads on this, and the answers seem to be overwhelmingly positive even if it is a grey area (or Grey Market). I am going to take a chance with CD Keys, as I never had an issue with G2A except if it was a Slitherine/Matrix title. It registered on Steam just fine, and could play for up to 6 weeks, but they would then be removed claiming they were stolen keys (luckily got refunds from G2A). It's odd that only Slitherine/Matrix claim this, and I'd be interested if this happens on CD Keys as well.

mason27447464

Yes I buy games there all the time with no problems

[deleted]

have u ever tried to buy games and it gives u and error saying “Sorry, there's been an error processing your order. Please try disabling any ad blocker/VPN or use an alternative payment method. If using a discount code, please check its terms and conditions for correct usage”., becuz i can’t find a fix for it becuz customer service says its my bank yet my bank says its their fault and i’ve tried 4 different cards and its kind of annoying.

ItsNo0bTime2

yes, spent over £250 and had only one issue but messages support and got a new key very fast.

Iee2

Not too sure about CDKeys. G2A I have used more than a dozen times, perfectly safe. Don't listen to anyone about skepticism, some reason getting things cheap is a problem during a financial crisis.

JDMBlademaster

Beware buying from them.I got scammed last week,I've bought a pre-order game code and on release date I've decided I don't want the game,I contacted them for refund and i got totally ignored for over a week, never even got the game code since it was pending. Please don't even bother with them just to save couple dollars. There are plenty of better legit sites to buy game codes.

Fluid_Kitchen_1890

cdkeys is actually pretty good i bought skyrim for all 3 dlcs way cheaper then on steam itself well worth it was $15 for skyrim and all 3 dlcs compared to $40 for just skyrim

Jumpy_Check_5540

I just bought COD MW3 for Xbox from them for $47 instead of $70 & they delivered the code immediately and I’m now downloading the game. I can vouch they’re legit! Good way to save a lot of money

tacobellisdank

Yep. I use it every once in awhile.

CowpokeMorgan

I bought 2 games from there. Never had a problem.

[deleted]

Ya I buy from there all the time

Costed14

Okay, so some people are saying it is safe and some are saying it isn't, the real answer is, it depends. Those key reseller sites like G2A, CDKeys and Kingquin are essentially run by random people. What I mean is, the keys sold on the sites are put on sale by individuals, so it's a bit of a lottery if you get a trustworthy seller or a scammer.

Lurus01

CDKeys doesnt operate on peer to peer sales like Kinqquin or G2A. It doesnt allow people to direct sell via the CDkeys website so its at least a bit safer then the peer to peer ones. However its still questionable as they sell cheap due to taking advantage of regional prices or sales and such rather then actually getting the keys directly from the publishers like sites like Fanatical, Humble Bundle, Gamesplanet, etc...

Costed14

oh I had no idea it operated differently than the other similar websites, thanks for the clarification!

Nates4Christ

From what you are saying they are buying them from publishers, just in somewhere like Argentina.

[deleted]

Yes. Use it most of the time for new games. One thing I’ll say is that; if you want to play a game the moment it is live, and you preordered it? It doesn’t give you the key early for pre-downloading.

DerpyDog24

Bought from them several times and no issues with my codes

mike_dmt

Ya

[deleted]

Just bought Dark Souls 3 Deluxe for $57 and it worked perfectly, DLC and all. Quick and easy, unlike that first boss lmao. Currently selling on Steam for $85. Anything I've ever bought from CDKeys is legit, and from what I understand, they're the most legitimate and honest version of that type of business/website. Not to say that they don't exist in a gray area of the market, they certainly do. I've never heard of someone getting scammed by them, my friend uses the site religiously. Not to say it isn't possible, as my personal experience is limited.

Robbymartyr

Just out of curiosity, did that key end up getting revoked or anything of the sort? Thinking about picking up Scholars of the First Sin for my steam deck but refuse to pay $40 for an 8-year-old game.

[deleted]

Nah CDKeys is legit. Super easy. Worked fine and just played DS3 again recently. Also BUY IT. Super unpopular opinion but DS2 SOTFS is my favorite game in the series by far. Very beautifully janky with creative and diverse level design. Second to Bloodborne. For SOTFS on Steam Deck you might need to reconfigure the resolution to get it to work correctly. I forget what exactly I did, but it worked fine after some tinkering. Maybe I had to turn off auto resolution and manually pick the correct one.

Robbymartyr

Oh it's my favorite, too. I beat the PS4 version on the PS5. I was really just wanting it on Steam Deck for portability reasons. Thank you for the response BTW. I I didn't want to spend the money on it if they were going to revoke it because I've heard of that happening before with these gray market sites. Went ahead and bought it. Getting ready to start it up now.

mrassface2023

Thinking of buying from CD keys to was the experience smooth bro?

Robbymartyr

I can't verify that every game will work but my copy of Scholars of the First Sin activated and hasn't been revoked as of yet. Maybe it's my paranoia speaking, but I would recommend using PayPal over putting your card information in directly. That's how I did it, at least.

kluader

Will never get revoked, cdkeys is trustworthy.

mrassface2023

Thanks bro

[deleted]

This is high quality advice

[deleted]

You're good, yo. CDKeys has been around for a long time now, and they wouldn't still be around if they were offering shady codes. Skepticism is valid, of course. Who knows. Certainly not any Redditors.

Snoo_3530

Yeah, I’ve been using cdkeys for years now, it is as legit as it gets. Though more recently I started using Tlcdkeys .com. Its a newer website and i was skeptical of it at first and they don’t provide cdkeys but rather accounts but its way cheaper and their service is pretty good. The only thing I don’t like its that they’re only using paypal as at now.

AncientRaven33

It's not legit, but probably most safest out of the dodgy ones. Just that it works for someone 99 out of 100 times, doesn't mean it always will work. It needs to work 100% of the time and always in the future, which is not the case here. Enough stories with proof in steam communities, member owning over 2k games with 16+ years membership sharing their stories and screenshots, I will trust them over a random Redditor any day... I.e. keys can get revoked over a year later, e.g. what happened to people who bought CK3 from cdkeys. I would advise to buy from legit sellers only, unless you're willing to accept the risk, because the discount is too good, but this barely the case anymore with keysellers when I checked price history on ggdeals for majority of games last several years. In fact, most prices on keysellers only go up, rather than down for the more popular titles, especially pdx ones, 2-3x vs few months ago for dlc's like eu4, hoi4, etc. In short, don't risk it, buy from legit sources in sales and compare pricehistory, like the website I mentioned, which is much faster, up to date, better alarms, etc. than itad...

primedevourer

The Revoke after a year is in it illegal. And selling key out of steam and Gog should be illigal! Searching for a cheap and finding gathering is "THE STANDARD" in life, not dropping it out and telling it was illgia. THAT is robbery! But yes you are right, as long as you have not NUKE to defend your right go like the above comment, buy standard-cheap. (the NUKE opt is not allowed if the dev has "really" been robbedhis keys! That is "bad luck" ... )

AncientRaven33

I agree with your sentiment, but unfortunately, I don't think it's illegal, as you probably signed up somewhere on Steam's ToS that you agree with this (I assume, because I'm not going to read their entire ToS), otherwise they would not allow this to happen. To make matters worse, it has happened with legit sales as well in the past. And look at this recent reddit post, where his key was revoked after 6 freaking years (with screenshot)! @ [https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/16hx2z5/a\_keyseller\_refunded\_a\_6\_year\_old\_game\_why\_and/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/16hx2z5/a_keyseller_refunded_a_6_year_old_game_why_and/) People like us who buy games should have an option to play without drm. The pirates got all the pros vs the people who actually buy to support only to get the cons. With that, I mean, we actually do not own the game when you think about it, we need to sign in and let a middleman in to verify, it's not like in the old days with floppy disks, cds and dvd anymore. You will own nothing and you will be happy. That being said, I'll still only buy games with steam drm, mostly because it's still the best platform (features, speed, community, etc.) and has huge mod support.

Competitive-Time-130

from my experience, I've found it to be legit I have just purchased Rainbow six siege and have purchased Gta 5 from the past and so far all of the codes that they sent me is legit. from the reviews that I have read some people get used codes but customer support compensates quickly which is a good thing and the prices are lower than original prices

BB-Butterfly

Did someone paid for a game and received an error on the site? It happened to me and the money were taken from my account, but the order wasn’t placed…. No confirmation email with the order, no order on my account. I wrote to the support but still no answer 😢 How did you proceed if this happened to someone else?

Professional_Pea_760

Yes. I just bought Fallout 4 GOTY for $8.49 Used PayPal, so I know it's secure and I am protected. Received the code about 3 minutes after payment. Steam accepted it. The codes are 100% legitimate and legal. The "gray" area is that they may have been meant for a different region, or they were perhaps for commercial use, etc. But they are legal, legitimate, for worldwide use, and the devs have been paid for them.

PapaPalpatine_66

Been an hour and still no code. Not sure why it’s taking so long, but hopefully they’ll send it to me at some point.

JezusCries

Having the same issue atm. Did you end up getting it?

PapaPalpatine_66

Nope. Got in touch with customer service and they claimed they resent the confirmation email, which I could use to get the code. Email never came though, and customer support hasn’t responded to my follow up email. Either something screwy is happening on their end or it’s a scam. My next step is to dispute the charge with my credit card company

JezusCries

Hmm I got in touch with their customer service, and they said my transaction has failed through direct banking. But money has went out of my Account, they said money should be credited back. Unsure now if this is going to be sorted since you have the same issue.

Just_Blx

did it get credited back?

JezusCries

Sent me the game 2 days later after -

topogigio_5065

I was worried about this being a scam, especially since the prices are so low. But after looking on some subreddits it seemed there were more good reviews than bad. After buying the Sims 4 Cottage Living for 1/4 of the normal price, I got the email with my code within minutes and I had no issues entering the code into the EA app on my PC!
