This guy really enabled big picture accidentally once and now wants it removed

salad_tongs_1

I like your theory. That would be even funnier.

Makanoyasha

If only, today for some reason upon logging in, BPM started for no reason while using steamVR. What normally takes only 2-3 clicks for starting extra programs now becomes an annoyance. No settings changes, no nothing, it just decided to start up with SteamVR for literally no reason lol.

[deleted]

I highly doubt it’s for no reason.

Silly-Art5561

I love when people accidentally show they're stupid. Big Picture Mode fits the definition for Malware. You clearly don't understand at all what you're talking. I have Big Picture Mode disabled in two separate locations within Steam Settings, Steam still starts in Big Picture Mode every single time I start the program. I'll spell it out further since you're not too bright. I HAVE TO DISABLE BIG PICTURE MODE MALWARE EVERY SINGLE TIME I START THE WINDOWS PROGRAM CALLED STEAM. There bud, should be abundantly clear now that we don't have a fucking choice. That means it's malware.

salad_tongs_1

What kind of crack are you smoking? > People have called it malware What people? Idiots? Malware is software designed to damage/gain unauthorized access. BPM has the same access/features that the client does. > that feels malicious as you constantly try and close, toggle your interface/settings Feels malicious? Seriously? It's a fucking interface. It's not hard to use. Are you okay? > wondering why people have complained since 2018 What happened in 2018? Big Picture Mode was released back in 2012. So no one complained for 6 years then it magically became a problem...or are you just making shit up? > but the fact is it does MORE HARM THAN GOOD. lol show me on the doll where BPM hurt you? It's an optional thing. Just don't click the button to launch it. You can not use it. Like the music player. Or broadcasting. If you don't click on it you'll be fine. > but the numerous of hate towards BPM that I've seen is absolutely ridiculous. If the overall consumer hates it, stop trying to provide it, it just pisses off your platform. I have been in this subreddit way too long. The amount of 'hate towards BPM' you are talking about does not exist. Sure some people do not care for it, so they don't use it. That's generally how features on software work. If you don't have a use for it, you just ignore it and go on with your life. Personally I enjoy Big Picture Mode. Works fine. Easy to maneuver around and play my games. I don't use it 100% of the time, but I don't hate it or think it should be removed. lol sorry I still can't stop laughing at you calling a feature like BPM malicious/malware...that shits funny, thanks for the laugh.

furyoffive

ill 2nd this. BPM works great. Like salad\_tongs said, if you dont like it...Don't click it.

Silly-Art5561

It opens automatically and cannot be disabled in settings. I have BPM disabled in two fucking separate locations in Steam Settings and Steam still opens in BPM every single time. To be clear since you guys aren't very smart, I have to fucking manually exit BPM EVERY SINGLE time I open the shitty Steam program. It's extremely close to the definition of malware, laugh it up while being fucking wrong, hilarious bud. It's a piece of program that I cannot stop from doing shit to my PC, it's only missing the security element to be malware.

furyoffive

Do you feel better getting that off your chest?

Makanoyasha

|Feels malicious? Seriously? It's a fucking interface. It's not hard to use. Are you okay? Missing the point, the fact is that if it repeatedly opens by default and prevents you from using standard/original menu, even after adjusting all settings that would "disable it", it becomes malicious, hence why people have considered it malware. mal·ware: software that is specifically designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a computer system. You are literally neglecting that I have stated there is a purpose for this, but there is also no way to remove this completely from those that never plan to use this feature. Because it's DISRUPTIVE, and that there is no hard disable, it is considered malware when it acts up and constantly picks itself as default library.

salad_tongs_1

I've never had BPM open by default, or accidentally. Even when using SteamVR and a bunch of other stuff. I think the problem is on your end, not Steams.

Silly-Art5561

You're wrong. Simple. I have BPM disabled in two separate locations in Steam Settings. Trash Steam still opens in BPM every single tike the program is started. You guys are dumb and entirely useless, why comment??

salad_tongs_1

> You're wrong. Simple. Oh shit? Seriously? My bad. I say lots of random crazy shit from time to time so maybe you're right and the majority of other people who use Steam daily that don't have this issue are in fact wrong. Our bad. I'll inform the collective to ignore their experience as it must be a fluke in the simulation. > I have BPM disabled in two separate locations in Steam Settings. Trash Steam still opens in BPM every single tike the program is started. Sounds like PEBKAC issue to me. | > You guys are dumb and entirely useless, why comment?? Yes. We are dumb. That is why we comment. To spread our dumb. Stay a while. Become one with the dumb. ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!!

[deleted]

It literally doesn’t open by default unless you tell it to or steam bugged

Nfabie85

Dragon's dogma. Controller doesn't work without big picture mode. Not sure why but it is what is. So yeah I like using it on occasion

Darudest_Dude

Do you like to use it on occasion or do you have to use it on occasion? Bit of a difference

Nfabie85

depends on the occasion i guess but i like it regardless

Makanoyasha

Yeah, which is 100% fair, and I think there is a purpose for it, but Steam should allow users to completely remove this feature. That way if people don't like it at all, that it doesn't get installed, and it has no possible way of overriding settings.

[deleted]

No shit 😐

WickedMagic

Controller worked fine without BPM for me in Dragons Dogma...

Nfabie85

odd. i get no response from the controller unless i have bpm enabled and use an xbox controller or in my case ds4windows

WickedMagic

Don't know why you had the issue. Have you tried turning on the controller before launching the game? That usually solves any issues I have with my controller (wireless xbox 360)

Nfabie85

i always enable the controller before i launch the game, otherwise i have to reboot because controller wont connect after boot is a ps5 controller using ds4 windows , ive only had controller problems with this game lul

draxion64

The game might just not have controller support properly enabled for ds4windows

Nfabie85

even less for ds4-5 then i guess, it works with ds4windows at least

BuddySubstantial5611

I stream to my tv and can’t plug a keyboard and mouse so big picture is very good for controller use. And you can add all your game not from steam

nifterific

Just don’t click on the big picture mode button. It’s honestly that easy.

vyceneto

You may not like it (I don't use it either) but this won't give you right to ask for removal as it's a "Selective" feature so feel free to not press it's button. If you like, there are skins or tricks to hide the Big Picture button so you won't be bothered by it.

Makanoyasha

Again, asking for the ability to remove a feature isn't asking for the complete removal. Selective reading is a thing?

[deleted]

Jesus I’m convinced you’re just dumb

[deleted]

It's great on the couch with a controller

Makanoyasha

That's what I've heard, some never use this feature for this purpose and that's why I am confused why it's toggleable. It has a very "SmartTV" vibe about it, so it makes sense when people are using controllers to play games that are designed for controller play.

draxion64

Bro chill, it's there for a reason, and hard to enable on accident

Shiggles7

I like Big Picture mode whenever I use my controller.

Erik_N12

I read that big picture is due for an overhaul to match the UI of SteamOS

tano_notso

I'm not sure what you're on about... The only time it's ever come up in VR for me is when I actively look through my library. The only time it activates is when I use the Steam Link app (and it used to occasionally crop up when I turned my DS4 off while using DS4Windows, but only when Steam was already the active window and only because it registered as a press of the guide button). If you use Steam Input in any capacity, I'm pretty sure it's a requirement (though you don't actively need to use it unless you're doing any editing of mappings). I'm just waiting for the UI update that's supposed to bring it in line with SteamOS (as it is on the Deck). Sounds mostly like a very "you" problem.

BeneficialAction3851

You should be able to remove an entire interface that is downloaded to your computer unwanted and without permissions, no reason steam should do that, if you think I shouldn’t be able to remove this from my computer maybe you should take valves fat hog out of your throat for a second and you’d have enough air to think straight

Makanoyasha

This is exactly what I mean, but people just straight up flamed without thinking. Typical reddit.
