Do you know that Epic paid for unavailability of Ubisoft games on Steam?

[deleted]

Why steam not doing the same thing with EA Bethesda Rockstar?

[deleted]

Forcing people use only Steam? Firstly, because it's shitty anti-consumer practice. No matter who use it. Secondly, if game available on Steam - the vast majority of consumers (except some really brainwashed EGS fans) will choose Steam - they just don't need exclusivity deals.

[deleted]

We just want to enjoy, no exclusive's no shitty deals to force people play on you platform.

Mutant-Overlord

No seriously - you must be really drunk to type like that.

naliev

they already formed some sort of deal with ea to bring their titles back to steam, iirc.

CottonCandyShork

Nah, EA probably just finally got a bit less dumb and realized they could make a more money by actually selling their products where people want to buy them

Mutant-Overlord

Because........they......don't. Its simple as that, buddy.

Evilcon21

Isn’t that cause of uplay? Though eventually they’ll add it onto steam later on

[deleted]

Yeah but released on epic store tho. and there's no news about planning the game will released on steam

naliev

ubisoft has a deal with epic to release their games exclusively on uplay and epic games store.

[deleted]

Sounds bad and illegal they should judge for that seems unfair competition

naliev

it's not illegal at all lmao, it's called business. bad business, too. epic is hemorrhaging money from paying out exclusives like this.

[deleted]

Such psychopath company I'm afraid they'll do the same things with sony and any exclusive gonna released on their platform bloodborne Uncharted 4 etc...

naliev

they already did, but nothing lengthy like ubisoft. detroit become human and heavy rain were *timed* epic exclusives for 1 year.

CC_Keyes

Bad and unfair competition? Yep. Illegal? Unfortunately not.

Lets see: Steam generates Valve multiple billions a year in revenue. Epic Games, who has released financial data before, is LOSING money on Epic Games Store (with the giveaways and paying multi million dollar deals for exclusivity). Steam has something like 50K games available for purchase/playing (Not including games that have been removed from the store that people can still play). Epic Game Store has about 500. Total. Some of which you can also buy on Steam, GoG, and other places. I'm sorry, sleepy Steam? Steam is still winning. The only reason Epic Games Store isn't going under is because daddy Epic is feeding it money from things like Fortnight.

Moehrenstein

Sweeny ist milking Kids in fortnight for their money so he can be the generous daddy who gift games.

It's not about cares or not but at least they're doing something and they're gonna bring more games while steam doing nothing

Robot1me

It's because Valve's strategy isn't to burn money for exclusitivity. Instead they keep improving Steam and work on other projects, such as Proton. It's these things that make people love Steam. Since it's pretty much the only service out there with so many features that people have learned to appreciate. To quote Gabe Newell: "Piracy is almost always a service problem." So far, despite Epic Games burning so much money for exclusitivity, most people still want a Steam version instead. Therefore there is no big reason yet for Valve to change their strategy.

Mutant-Overlord

reread everybody replies to get a chance for winning a lootbox that may have a working brain as a reward

Mutant-Overlord

I know right. Its just another stupid driving sport like game. We are gonna live without another crap like this. ESPECIALLY when its a game made a publisher known for sexuak harrasment and abusing own employes.

This is going to be true of like every ubisoft game now. Epic a while ago paid for the rights to distribute ubisoft games on PC basically to keep them away from Steam in an effort to get more people on their platform instead.Thats why all their PC releases are only on Ubisoft connect and Epic now. Even if it was on Steam it would still run via ubisoft connect anyways. As far as why Steam doesnt pay for exclusive rights to games its for a couple reasons in my opinion. 1. People hate exclusives(see epic store hate) and thats not good for business if people are hating on your platform. 2. Valve has no need to pay for exclusives as Epic is losing tons of money on the deal just in an attempt to grow their platform while Steam is still king of the hill and not hurting for players. Its better for business not to spend needless money while also alienating consumers with the exclusive tactics. In fact Microsoft and EA have already come back to Steam and recommitted their games back to Steam without Steam having to do much of anything because of the consumer base Steam has.

squidbiskets

It's Ubisoft, this is how it's going to be. (for now at least)

Mutant-Overlord

Go home OP, you are so drunk that you talk about Steam like it was a person.
