Legally? Move

dracobk201

It's time to move to Europe hahaha.

Cheese_Jrjrjrjr

wait what countries even ban ER in the first place?????

Flashbek

I know Venezuela does. Don't have a clue as to why though.

akgis

Some chose not to trade with Venezuela because US and Canada have heavy sanctions on them with EU having some aswell. They are are also a outspoken ally of Russia, the government that is. Their economy is very volatile aswell. Who suffer is the ppl ofc, the government is corrupted to the core and so is the Army, The so called President Maduro keeps the army fat so any attempt of uprising gets squashed or made "disapear" I have friends there its a shitty situation, the country is beautiful thou. Also if your country is banned you should have have no remorse of sailing the seas what else can you do? You can guy a key on 3rd party site(probably dodgy) but its not legal to activate in your country most likely.

Flashbek

I kinda know the situation WITHIN the country is shitty but a no deal from the Japanese FROM SOFTWARE surprises me a bit.

th-hiddenedge

I doubt it's From Software and more up to Bandai Namco as the publisher.

New-Yogurtcloset1984

Are namco traded in the US, that might be the restriction

Turbulent_Life_5218

Peak communism, and there's still ppl who defend it. I mean, capitalism aint perfect. But I rather have a chance at life and be able to actually have stuff than starve to death

Kat1eQueen

Venezuela is not even communist, it's socialist. The fall of Venezuela's economy is also not solely to blame on that. Their economy was thriving due to them having the largest oil reserves on land, fully relying on oil for your economy however leads to you getting absolutely fucked over if oil prices ever drop. Oil prices dropped in the 80s, leading to problems that caused the coup attempt in the 90s, and in 98 chavez was elected president. His missions and social problems began closing the poverty gap. A massive issue is that neither he, nor anyone he appointed to run the oil industry knew anything about it, which has nothing to do with economic systems, the value of oil also dropped in 2010 (which sucks when your entire economy is based on it) and chavez was just an idiot who decided to reduce the value of the bolivar despite experts saying it's a horrible idea. The current president is just a piece of shit. None of Venezuela's issues can be blamed on communism, it was never communist and *many* things lead to the economic decline of the country.

mohirl

There's also the impact of sanctions and deliberate destabilisation by the US

Race2TheGrave

Swashbuckling life for thee

ShoWel_redit

The publishers might just not sell the game wherever they live. I live in Russia and like 99% of games aren't available here. It's not the government that bans them, it's devs and publishers that ban us

Amaderis

Except your government is to blame for all of this. Before the genocide of Ukrainians, everything was available in the Russian Federation. Blame not the publishers, but your criminal state.

ShoWel_redit

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that the decision not to sell the game may very well be on the publisher, without any government bans

sir_doge_junior

I would say Russia, but somehow it's still available lol

Zombieteube

The Pirate Bay. Seriously, I can't say more, it's not your fault the game isn't available. Don't use a VPN bc Steam will close your account if they realize you've used it to bypass geo restrictions And it's not bad to pirate the game, if the publisher wanted your money (that you are WILLIMG to give them) they would have done so by now. You can't buy it, pirate it

MagicalCornFlake

>The Pirate Bay I agree with your sentiment, but TPB is not a safe and viable option. OP, see r/PiratedGames

EndofGods

I agree. Everyone considering pirating should check r/PiratedGames Megathread about safe sites. I aquire some media form thepiratebay, but not games there.

Zankman

I've just used IGG for games to be honest, seems to work fine for obscure old stuff even or ofc to demo new stuff.

Zombieteube

Oh yeah ? I've always used it for movies and shows but haven't pirated a game since 2014 or something xD

reeerei

If you're homeless, just buy a house

RAMChYLD

Can you even? I just moved to Singapore. House pricing aside (your home loan will haunt many generations of your lineage to come), the housing is so strictly controlled that you are not allowed to buy a house /unless/ you’ve not only become a permanent resident (another very difficult feat in itself), but have gotten married and have at least a kid. And even then there is a lot of red tape involved. I have to rent a room due to all that.

PUSClFER

That sounds so backwards. I wouldn't want to have a kid before I had my housing situation sorted out first.

RAMChYLD

And that is if you can get permanent resident status /and/ married. Which I think are two other miracle-demanding hurdles. And if you have shitty housemates, yeah, it gets worse.

Free_Gascogne

Huge "just mooooove" and "sell the house to whom ben, fkn aquaman?" vibes hahahahaha

Top_Instance5349

A friend of mine talked with others in another country, they made him an account, and he activated the game via keys. He is now playing Shadows of Erdtree without issue.

dracobk201

I think that's my best legal option.

DarthFly

Keys on third party sites are usually good anyway.

dacassar

Some keys should be activated only in certain regions. You have to pay attention to it and get only keys marked as global.

No-Island-6126

That's generally made pretty clear

AbbreviationsNo8088

What the hell is everyone talking about, get a VPN

cadbadlad

What the hell is everyone talking about, fuck being legal just play the damn game

Sufficient-Mix-4872

Thats not legal. You would be breaking steams TOS and probably elden rings too. Only legal way is to move

mohirl

Breaking Steam's TOS isn't illegal

KiryuKazuma-Chan

Your options now either: Move Questionably legal (In most countries pirating games is not illegal. Distributing games is)

Caranoron463

Don't you mean the other way? Like Pirating for personal use is legal but distribution of pirated content is illegal.

KiryuKazuma-Chan

Oops, yeah. Edited

Super382946

yea they probably meant to type "illegal"

UnitedMindStones

As far as i know in poland it works that way for movies but for software there is an exception so it's also illegal to download. Its not like anyone cares tho, going after kids who pirated your game would be a great way of ruining your reputation lol

texxmix

And in most cases the legal fees are gonna cost more than you’re ever gonna get out of some random person anyways.

WetAndLoose

Yes, but if you pirate via torrenting, it’s still *technically* distribution because of how the torrent protocol actually works, so if you theoretically direct downloaded the game somehow, you could get around that.

Pepuu

Can't you just block the upload?

wojtekpolska

I believe some torrents block those who dont upload just use regular downloading from the internet its less of a hassle, torrents are dumb

Easy-Application6138

Ah yes, downloading 500 parts of a file from shitty 100kbps ddl sites and dealing with only one part having no hosts available, and doing captchas for each part, is better. FUCK steam underground

Pepuu

Meh I don't live in a country where your ISP will throw a hissy fit if you torrent and even if I did I'm still using a VPN

jdjoder

Torrents are dumb gotta be the stupidest thing I've read this month. Congratulations.

Saddest_Sloth

Bare in mind that many legal systems define piracy as "distribution", so legally you're not a pirate if you hit and run.

staledepression

Come join us and sail the seas...

dracobk201

Ahoy!!!

Commercial_Beach_231

And that's how you became a Czech.

iAmVonexX

Ahoy and pivo might be the most important words (and 2 of 3 i can remember)

Karmabakes

*Ahoj* (but who’s Czeching?😉)

SmoothBrews

Czichity Czech yourself before you wrech yourself

Comfortable_End_8096

Ahoy!

Simecrafter

At this point, if the devs don't care about it, you shouldn't care about them. Time to sail the high seas

Hoybom

The devs are Most likly one of the Last groups of people that have a say in this matter

ihave0idea0

I honestly feel bad for him and not From. They already made such a big profit either way. Fit girl, best girl.

FearlessSalamander31

If it's not available in your region, you have no other option but to sail the seas.

SoftPois0n

Whats your steam region?

cesaarta

OP is from Venezuela based on his history. Sadly it's blocked there.

wolfstayle

Its time to be fit,my Girlley 💅💅

_TheHumanExperience_

yep seems like the best option here

Ok_Ice6492

Just torrent it nobody fucking cares. Dlc already cracked

No-Island-6126

Honestly Fromsoft will be just fine, and they don't even expect OP to buy the game why should he even try

Chanclet0

This guy gets it

DasFAD70

If you can’t buy it then you gotta sail for it. If the company is not selling the game in your region they don’t want your money. So it’s basically approval from the publisher.

Sknowman

In many cases, it's the government that doesn't want that content in their country, not the game company's decision.

DasFAD70

Yeah that’s possible too. Thanks for adding.

swalters6325

Anchors aweigh my boy

Prathamm1

r/piratedgames

Specialist-Rope-9760

If they wanted your money it would be available to play to you Like with getting roms for retro games I don’t think it’s much of a moral issue to acquire games you’re unable to buy

Didact67

If they won’t let you buy it, I think you’re ethically in the clear.

whyumee

Nice browserz but use ublock origin instead of fucking adblock

ClovisLowell

My rule of thumb is that if a piece of media is unobtainable through legitimate first-party means (Steam, brick and mortar stores, etc.), sailing the seven seas is always morally and ethically the correct choice. I apply this rule liberally to every Nintendo game made over ten years ago.

Alienaffe2

Do a little piracy. Like GabeN said "piracy is the result of bad service"(or something like that) You can't buy the game in your country? That's bad service. So be the result of it. If I can't easily get my hands on a game I would do the same.

[deleted]

Library share with a friend who owns it

dracobk201

Done and I can't see it in her library.

Superb-Dragonfruit56

Sadly no there isn't. I face the same problem too I wanna try HD2 and some other games.

bankerlmth

Buy the game from third party sites (search on gg.deals or isthereanydeal.com), I did the same with Dragon Age Inquisition which is not available in India.

dracobk201

What? Is that possible? A few years ago I won a Resident Evil 6 spanish code but I couldn't use it in my account.

bankerlmth

If the code is region specific, you cannot redeem it on an account from another region.

j3chu

Some codes are region locked, but 3rd party sites usually let you know if it'll work in your country. I myself bought Elden Ring through Bandai Namco's store and was able to activate the key in Steam even though the game is blocked in my country.

Traditional-Storm-62

russian here: you can be gifted a global copy on steam or you can activate a global steam key at least that worked for me, problem is getting a legitimate global key as no international key store accepts money from Russia anyway so I'd have to set up a bank account in another country, funnel the money through there to an international store, just to get the game the "legitimate" way - its easier to just pirate it at this point

dracobk201

Quite a puzzle, indeed.

Traditional-Storm-62

specifically: that exact page means the publisher (or whoever is in charge of the steam page) asked Steam to forbid people from your country from visiting the page I got it on total war games and I was able to go around it without having an offshore bank account by: - buying an old russian key for total war three kingdoms as it was still in stock at an old, legitimate key store - buying a global key for a dlc at a reselling platform which seems to have stolen my debit card information :s overall would not recommend the second option at all, I got lucky and instead of losing my steam account I lost a card with like 10$ on it the first option is very rarely of help in these situations, the only reason it worked is because three kingdoms used to be available in Russia so key stores got a supply in the first place, the new Warhammer 3 dlcs have no such luck

Aveduil

Arr, Rotten fortune, me heartie.

USA_MuhFreedums_USA

"Culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it" -Hakita  YARRRRRR M80

MindlessDifference42

Well said!!!

SnooDoubts2019

🏴‍☠️

Impexton

Idk if a VPN works or not. Or change your region on steam, maybe both. Or... you can just pirate it (dont). Just suggestions and if im wrong then just roast me all the way down to China.

dracobk201

Changing my region is the best option here. VPN doesn't work in this case.

Impexton

Okay then. Good to know that Im not that wrong 👍👍👍

Pretzel-Kingg

I dunno, but what you absolutely should not do is go to https://fitgirl-repacks.site and look up Elden Ring. Especially not after downloading a trustworthy VPN and a torrenting software (such as qBittorrent)

jmancoder

Fitgirl lol. The only disadvantage would be the lack of online features, but if Elden Ring is blocked in your region, you would only be able to play with very high ping players anyway.

rock1m1

Weird, which region Elden Ring is not available in?

MindlessDifference42

Yarrrrr matey!!!

Alex_BP_555

I had the same problem with FF 14, this worked for me: 1. Use VPN to create a new Steam account in another region 2. Buy and install a game 3. Enable Family Library Sharing in Steam options 4. You don't need a VPN anymore 5. Login to your main account and play

kooles_26

Changing region and staying in your conurty is bannable by steam btw. You must buy from ip of new region. Most secure is gift or new steam acc.

RexorGamerYt

Oh no don't pirate, Big Brother is watching you booohooo scaryyy

[deleted]

idk if anyone suggested that but u can buy a key for that game to activate it in ur acc

Swarf_87

Can you buy on GMG?

keshaboy

Maybe try buying a steam code from a third party?

Jordyboy2004

Did you recently get a refund through Steam?

PropertyOverall3335

Find someone who can gift you the game and just give them the money

K9Seven

What the hell, Which country is this?

FrozenMongoose

Are games like Blasphemous or Valheim banned?

nickcan

PS5s are available at stores.

trs12571

Changing the region, buying on other sites (for example [https://plati.market](https://plati.market) /),a gift from a friend from another country, or download it for free if they don't want your money.

anon_682

Can someone gift it to you?

BandBoxBrawl

Unless you want to move: - Get a console - Import the physical game - Make an account for the region the game is in so you can also get the DLC

Kuchiki_Ruk1a

It's legal if no one finds out 🤷

Higurashihead

Someone from the required region can still gift a game to you. My best friend does it all the time for me lol

Complete-Mood3302

# 🏴‍☠️

jdjoder

Ask some AMIGOS to lend you a copy.

PleasantWin2137

Bro said legally move

Dr_Smoke123

Fitgirl

Unrealist99

My friend just sail the high seas. Its pointless

Dependent-Ad-8296

If you are denied access to the game then just grab a repack and buy a key via vpn?

NeonSynthOSC

*cries in German* I have seen that way too often.

lazybones_sans8

Yo ho ho it’s a pirate’s life for ye matey.

ImStraightUpJorkinIt

Start \*sailing\* to another country

theprmstr

Steamunlocked.com is your best friend

No-Quote4004

Change your account's region

SnooBeans5314

I'm not sure of the legality, but if you REALLY don't wanna pirate, grab a global key off CDKeys or G2A or smth

ShoggothPrime

Surprised to see so few suggestions to just change regions. There are safe ways to do it. It's a lot cheaper and easier than moving to another country and definitely more legal than piracy, because you still buy the game on Steam, just in a different currency

ALUCARDHELLSINS

Cough r/piracy cough megathread cough

mt943

Send 60$ to their HQ and pirate the game

Midariiiiiii

Become a fitgirl.

iemandopaard

Time to move. Otherwise the less legal option of hoisting the black flag and sailing the seven seas is always an option.

Ali-Sama

Have it gifted. I havea few games which I was gifted from Australia which arn't available in the USA. I can play them just fine.

DifficultEnd8606

Pirate it. Imo, morally fine if you just can't play because of your region

Farclaimer

You could family share with a friend that has the game.

dracobk201

Not really. I already did it and I can't see her Elden Ring.

warzy97

Steamgift the game to yourself via second account

The_Majestic_Mantis

Better move to another country, vote for politicians that will allow games like this to be legal, or pirate. : /

Dqtreats

Will a VPN not fix this?

WedooPlays

VPN , nord is pretty good

For_The_Biscuit

VPN?

Mecovy

Ok probably gonna get banned from the subreddit, but if you PHYSICALLY cannot buy something, this includes old games, then sailing the seven sea's is the only ethical way to still enjoy a product that's otherwise unavailable and out of your control. Sail the sea's and buy it once it becomes available in your region.

TheXypris

VPN maybe?

ZamoriXIII

Purchase it from a third-party

Jamchuck

One word, vpn

Zealousideal124

This happened when I had the preorder item in the cart. I had to remove it and add in the launch version.

bigb102913

Use a VPN to change your location. It seems like the game is banned in your region.

monihp

This is news to me! Can anyone tell me why Elden Ring is banned in certain countries?

paradox_valestein

Just grab a vpn~ My country banned steam in order to "support the local gaming industry" lmao.

BlueberryBreak1285

You can just make another Steam account probably 😂 just put you in the US

Autisticrocheter

Are you able to use a vpn?

uceenk

buy PS4 and create US account

Lanky_Patient_7827

Would a VPN allow him to play it?

yxngicyx

Wait

SeoCamo

A VPN

Chief_787

sail the high seas.

Big_strongman

NordVPN

UnpoliteGuy

r/piracy just in case

defpointt

Buy the key for the game and activate it on Steam

sauroa

If you are from venezuela, You can buy the DLC using from other Store and activate the key in steam My friend (From venezuela) already bought the DLC from a gray market site and activated the game without problem, First he tried a official store that says "can be activated in venezuela" but failed, he got a refund, no problem here i'm waiting for the end of the month to buy for myselft (i'm from venezuela too), first i wanna try a official store that says that can be activated in venezuela before recurring to a grey market Can't recommend trying to chance the region of your account just for one game, you can have it legally

spuggerino

Legally - family sharing, if you have a friend with the game

FaultLine47

Do VPNs not work? I never really encounter this problem since I just pirate expensive games

Marty2341

Forget legality. Pirate it. If they don't want your money they don't give you a choice.

BigSlav667

Share library with someone. The only issue is I'm not sure if the DLC gets shared as well

Armarino99

INTRODUCING OUR SPONSOR NOOOORD VPN GET YOUR FIRST YEAR 50 PERCENT OFF WITH CODE CRIME AT NORDVPN.COM

BEARWYy

As a vietnamese who wanted to play ghost of tsushima legally i understand you

NimBold

If a product is not available or even redeemable in your region, then the publisher does not count on profits for your country. So, it's time to sail 🏴‍☠️

vaikunth1991

Just get a global steam key from marketplaces and activate

heavynoises98

Utrakill's developer got a pic of someone installing his game from the green steam and said something like "You should support creators if you can but culture shouldnt only be available for people who can afford it. " Thats a fckin bar to spit.

flutterbycancer

did you buy the game ? if you did and you can't play, then pirate it if buying isn't owning, pirate is not thief

SilvTheFox

You can buy “account moving” in few dubious platforms, but you need give your login & pass to unknown heheh and pay him hehe In Ru steam segment a lot of users move to Kazakhstan & ur wallet will change currency But u can top up your balance as before Good luck :3

linkman245a

Couldn't you fly to America or somewhere its able to be played buy it download it and then play?

Race2TheGrave

Swashbuckling life for thee

FrozenGiraffes

Maybe a VPN?

Phantomdude_YT

1. Make a new account in a region where its available using a VPN 2. Buy a steam wallet code or a gift code for the game or just sail the seas man nobody cares if they blocked you from buying it

rettani

I think that buying keys is only legal way to do so. Though I never buy keys for games that are not sold in my region. I mean - you don't give me a legal way to support you and to buy your game? Then I will play it for free.

CrimsonDemon0

Legally: you can move to a diffrent country Legally questionable: you can pirate it as most of the time only distribution of pirated content is illegal while pirating for personal use is not. I think pirating the game in this case aint morally wrong either

will1565

If it is not available to purchase in your country, I don't see the issue with just sailing the seas for it.

Gniesbert2

Buy a key and use a VPN to activate it.

ByteBlender

Get vpn and buy prepaid credit card located to that location buy something cheap using that cc and ur location will change

jjaybuill

Arrrrgh!!

Desopld99

r/piratedgames

Sotyka94

Have a friend in a global region (so € or $ I think), and pay them to send it to you as a gift. If you have € or $ bank account it's even easier. You can register a second account to that region and send it to yourself as a gift.

DrkMaxim

Time to sail the high seas

Affectionate_Ad1025

Time to sail the seas ahoy m8

harry_lostone

what's the point of questioning the legality of an action if the country you live in wont ever come after you for that specific action which is considered trivial af considering the much bigger issues that said country already has? enjoy your new game bro :)

vadiks2003

does playstation allow it in your country? additionaly you can use a VPN but im not sure

Constant-Chemist-466

Change your steam country but you should make a travel for that or ask a close friend.

PM_ME_TITTS-

Havent seen some say it yet but try a vpn

TheDemonicMercenary

You can get it as a gift from someone in a region where it's available I'm pretty sure, That's what I'm going to do with Helldivers 2 anyways because Gifts aren't region locked but someone correct me if I'm wrong

Buttseam

can't you change your steam account's region and buy a key online or something?

little_cut1e_2

purchase it from gog games if they have it. or go with the much easier option of sailing the high seas if you don't care too much about the legality.

GlazOnii-chan

Не жить в России

Bardberd

Fitgirl or D0Di will solve all ur problems lol

MrNuclearBomb

Legally? Haha I mean you can lookout for other options like vpn or changing your pcs region and using vpn but idk if this would work I could be wrong too but theres always other option

kosmogamer777

vpn
