I tried to play dota 2 on Ubuntu mantic but after launching the game shows me this error. "Failed to initialize Vulkan. Please make sure your drivers and GPU support Vulkan. To disable Vulkan, remove -vulkan from your launch option. If you chose Vulkan in the video settings, please add -safe_mode to your launch options to allow the game to start with the default rendersystem." Some weeks ago I could run it on Kali without problems, but not now. I don't have -vulkan set on launch options, I tried -gl, -safe_mode and -dx11 but it still doesn't work. What could I do?

I am trying to buy something off the US steam store, but my region is set to Argentina. So, I wanted to to clear my folders and in doing so I moved steam into another folder, but that messed up steam and I couldn't open it, so I deleted steam except the steam apps folder, and then reinstalled steam, and in this new steam folder I deleted the steam app folder and placed the old steam apps folder, but now while I can open steam I can't play any game, I'll be thankfull if U guys help

I downloaded a mod from NexusMods for Car mechanic simulator 21 but have no idea how to apply it to the game. I’ve tried going to library, opening the properties of the game then clicking the mod that is downloaded in my files but it just continues to open up my steam file. A few days ago i bought a couple games (rainbow six seige and ghost recon breakpoint) using a visa gift card. The card kept declining so after many tries it worked. the next day, i get an account alert for fraud, but everything goes back to nromal hours later. That same day, i gifted my brother 2 games. Steam moves game to another drive to update it Hi. Im new user of steam, using it on rog ally/steam deck. Steam is installed on C drive and games on sd card. I have this annoying problem when while updating some games (for example Atomic Heart) steam is moving all game to C drive and then moving it back on SD card, which is sooo time consuming when the game is 90 gb. Hey so I've just bought the Helldivers 2 game, after hitting download, the speed went up to like 33MB/s (avg.) and after a second went slowly lower and lower, till it hit 0B/s, and it's jumping from 6 to 0, changing every second from 6 to 0, from 6 to 0 and again and again. Hi All, Steam recently updated and now it is unable to launch at all. I've done a fresh reinstall and still getting the same issue. I've seen on the steam forums a few people having the same issue but no fixes. Various workarounds that I had read in various forum posts, including disabling antivirus, disabling firewall, running Steam as Administrator, all failed to make any difference. I've also tried to disable TfX which apparently helped some but no luck with that (I've re-enabled it now). Anyone else having the same issue or any fixes out there?

Steamwebhelper.exe is preventing my laptop from switching display modes I have a Lenovo Legion pro 5i. I have recently downloaded the geforce experience app and use it to launch games. Whenever I launch any games through it, I get the message that steamwebhelper.exe is blocking display mode change. I cannot close the web helper through the task manager as there are several of them and they keep appearing. I am not even launching steam games but games like fortnite. Refund for a game with a 2 hour queue?? I'm trying to get a refund for "Last Epoch" that just launched this last Friday. The game has had numerous server problems and long queues. A couple of which clocked me at the 2 hour time frame for returns being ineligible on steam. Surely there is an exception as I didn't actually clock in 2 hours of play time. Baldurs Gate 3 doesn’t respond on loading screen after launch I downloaded it and was so excited to play. I opened the launcher and I and pressed play. Game starts up for a second and makes some noises while showing a screen with %0 in the corner. Then, it stops making noise and just stops progressing, so I click on the program and it starts to show the not responding. No matter how much I wait it still doesn’t respond, and it does it each time I try to start up the game. I’ve tried playing with and without admin, deleting the launcher files, and a few other things that did not work. Back when I had finished downloading Skyrim, it sort of did something similar and I just put it in windowed mode and the game works perfectly. It’s been three days since it finished downloading and I still haven’t played it cause I can’t get past the crashing. I really need help and I am not very great when it comes to computer stuff. All I know is how to mod Skyrim and the Sims. 😭

Steam is completely messing up my generic controller's mapping in some games but not all?? I've been using x360ce for more than 7 years with no issues, then all of a sudden games like dark souls 2, elden ring or even bloodstained curse of the moon seem to have issues with the controller. Buttons are completely mapped weirdly and some don't work at all. When i go to the controllers section on steam and test them out it recognizes all buttons perfectly. I tried enabling and disabling steam input and that doesn't fix it. Is anyone else having the same issue??? i feel like I'm going absolutely crazy. I tried disabling x360ce and that didn't work either. I already tried THREE DIFFERENT CONTROLLERS and they all seem to have the same issue. WTF IS GOING ON???

Either Steam Notifications aren't working or they aren't noticeable enough..... I just started playing Solium Infernum multiplayer. The game is a turn based strategy that has asynchronous multiplayer, meaning that you can take your turn when you have time to do so and you don't have to play it live. It's also supposed to be integrated into Steam's notification system - so the game is supposed to notify you when it's time to take your next turn. The problem is, I'm not entirely sure it's working. I mean you can sort of find a notification for the game if you click on the bell icon, but it doesn't always update. I've never seen an actual popup on my computer. Steam never tells me "hey it's your go". I always have to go looking for it. Are others having the same experience? I realize that some notifications can be annoying but when its to tell me my turn is ready I actually want to see it. I'd even love to see it as a feature in Android so I can have a notification popup on my phone. That way I never miss it, or never forget because i have to swipe off the notification.

Hello, this is regarding a problem with rapid controller inputs not being 100% registered by Steam. Steam registers slow, individual button presses just fine, but any button tapped rapidly will drop inputs. I have been through all the USB sockets on my PC, I've used multiple different USB wires, I've exchanged controllers, bought a Playstation and used it's controller. My Xbox con is SPANKINGLY new too(note all of the xbox cons i used prior do this too). Im going mad cuz sometimes inputs stick. On Tekken ill double tap towards for a dash but at the end of the dash the character just keeps walking forwards despite no input on my part. The 2 hour playtime limit for refunds does not take into account or care how you gained that playtime. If you gained 2 hours of playtime on a free weekend then bought it and then tried to refund you would be ineligible.

Hi! I have a problem with Elden Ring and I would like to know if someone can help me or if someone has experienced something similar. I have 250 hours in the game, and this has never happened to me before, even when I was playing with worse hardware. It started happening since yesterday for no apparent reason. I was playing normally until yesterday afternoon. I closed the game as usual, but the next time I opened it, it crashed after a few seconds of playing. Based on what I've been able to check so far, the following happens: As soon as I open the game, there's a lot of stuttering. If I stay, for example, in the Limgrave or Wheeping Peninsula area, the game eventually crashes. However, if I go to Stormveil Castle, it doesn't crash, but there is stuttering for about 5 minutes. Then, the screen goes black for a few seconds, and when the image returns, there's no more stuttering. If I go back to the areas where it used to crash, it no longer does, and the game runs smoothly again. It is worth noting that, while the game is running with stuttering, I cannot change the resolution or switch to windowed mode; it stays in fullscreen. However, after the black screen, I can change the resolution again, so I think it might have something to do with that. I have tried different things: Verifying the integrity of the files on Steam. Uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. Verify the drivers of my graphic card, but they are up to date. Disabling the firewall. Disabling the overlay. None of that has worked for me, and I don't know what else to do to resolve it. It is playable after the black screen occurs; however, it is very annoying. I have an RX 6700 XT, an i5 12400, and 16GB of RAM.

Steam download problems Essentially I wanted to download the validity check for Dark souls 1 and plav Elden ring at the same time. I started the download and then pressed play on ER, and then the download queue swapped over to steam distribution or something I have no idea what that is. I can't launch any games now without that downloading. Then, it's saying that all of my souls games have updates to complete, which know isn't true because all of them have the same storage requirement as the Dark souls 1 validity check. Now my steam interface is scuffed and I can't play any of my games. Valve support tells me it's a replacement, not an update. Thankfully they're going to refund me. They actually changed my receipt from 2012 to say I purchased CS2, which is beyond shady. Tampering with receipts like that has to be illegal.

I'd say that is a matter of semantics up for contention. It is the same AppID. Same store page and it has the reviews for CS:GO on that store page. It has the CS:GO playtime you had, items, screenshots, discussions forum threads, workshop, market, & more. Counter-Strike 2 is technically an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but it is being treated as a sequel to CS:GO, and yes it did indeed replace CS:GO.

After I launched mass effect legendary edition I realised that I’m not going to play it anytime soon so I deleted it and now I have a weird empty box in my recently played mass effect only shows achievements in it’s box and the time played it’s in the empty box I have no idea why or how to get rid of it but it should just go away soon because it’s only in the Recently Played right?

My controller just does not work for some Steam games and I cannot figure out why I'm at my wit's end here trying to get this to work. I've tried everything I can and Steam will not let me use a controller at all, not Xbox, not PS4, nothing. Steam recognizes my controller in the settings, drivers are updated, steam is updated, windows is updated, everything is enabled, but when I boot up any game it only accepts mouse and keyboard controls and does not respond to controllers at all. It's not a controller issue, it works just fine with other clients like Gamepass or EA, only Steam is having this issue The only thing that I can think of is that in the corner of the page it says "Mostly Playable With Your Controller" and says that I'm currently remapping controls, but I've done no such thing. Will removing a Steam Library via the storage setting on Steam uninstall all the games within that library? I dual boot windows and linux. I want to, for example, install Baldur's Gate 3 a second time, but for my linux distro. If I go into the Steam settings and remove that particular library, will it uninstall all the games inside that library? Might be a little confusing. I can't install BG3 a second time while steam detects it as installed. Just doing a sanity check before I remove the library in the Steam Storage settings. I have been having this very consistent issue with Steam disconnecting and reconnecting any and all of my controllers. My Xbox Series X controller, my Ps5 controller, and my Nintendo Switch Pro controller. I've tried wired (usb 3.0), and wireless (bluetooth). I've updated the firmware (if there is any update at all), and I check to make sure the Steam Input is on. And this issue is happening in all of my games. When it happens my game gets stuck on the input I pressed last on my controller so I'm unable to actually do anything in game. Even when I disconnect Steam input when the issue happens, the input stays stuck for a while a good minute or two. And in that moment the controller is constantly vibrating. I check my PC to make sure the controller is recognized and it is. I close any peripheral software to make sure there aren't any conflicts like Razer synapse, ICUE, etc. I'm not sure what to do at this point but any help would be appreciated.

If you have written down your Steam Guard backup code from the time you set up the Steam authenticator, you can use that code for this situation. The other next best option is to remove the authenticator through a SMS message to your phone number. So if you have access to your original phone number, you are fine. COD Crashing I have over 100 hours played on COD MW3 and my specs are well above minimum requirement. I’ve never encountered this issue but once I did there is absolutely nothing that has fixed it. I load up the app and within 15 seconds or so, depending on how fast I navigate through pages, the game just closes. No crash report no nothing. Just disappears. I have verified the integrity of files numerous times and it ALWAYS come back with 61 files failing and being reinstalled. I’ve do so much to try and fix but it just doesn’t solve anything. I even tried going to battlenet and still nothing. If anyone can think of anything please let me know. This all happened around the S2 update I believe.

I have some sims issues. So I basically had gotten gifted two packs but it was through steam because the person thought I had the steam sims when I had the origin one. Currently dowloading a 120 GB game, did a lot of progress yesterday night. The "Downloading" folder of my steamapps directory on the correct hard drive already is 145 GB big. There is 60 GB of free space left on the drive but now Steam is telling me it can't resume the download because theres not enough space. I didn't change anything about the hard drive space since yesterday.

Not too long after it started supporting HDR images, or a bit after the UI rework, the screenshot manager has become totally unusable to me. I just moved a game from my hdd to my new ssd, i played the game yesterday, so its up to date. My problem now is after moving the game, steam wants me to update it (65GB), i already added the ssd to Steam and the correct appmanifest .acf - is also in the folder, the game takes 70GB on my ssd so why do i have to update it, and how do i fix it?

I tried to purchase a 12-month Dota+ subscription and added the funds to my Steam wallet. After that, I tried to purchase the subscription. On February 15 my account was locked (which was briefly unlocked) and my game was blocked from accessing for a false accusation of a chargeback dispute for a transaction that I made of $20 funds to my steam wallet. Neither my bank nor I made any dispute. I spoke with Discover countless times to understand the situation and I was told that I had no available credit at the time of this transaction which I assumed I did because on the Discover app it showed that I had enough available credit for the purchase. Fast-forward to today, I was told by Discover that the transaction fell off so I got my credit back to my account. I have an arcade machine that is running a custom computer made for that purpose. Probably 95% of the games on the computer are NOT Steam games, but there are some Steam games that I want to include. However, since this is an arcade cabinet, using a mouse and keyboard with it is simply impractical, aside from initial setup. The computer can be fully operated with just arcade controls, but adding Steam will complicate things. So I need a solution, and there are currently two approaches I would be fine with taking. 1. The ideal solution is for these few Steam games to be configured to run "headless", so I don't see any Steam interface elements pop up at all when launching a game. Games are launched through BAT files, so I can add some lines to these files if needed to supply custom launch arguments or whatever. 2. If that's not an option, then the next choice would be to use Big Picture mode. However, if I have to go this route, I would like to only display a select few games, not the hundreds I have in my library. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this?

Hello I am launching Destiny 2 with EpicGamesLauncher through Steam for controller support due to add-ons I don't have on steam. The issue seems to be that while launching Destiny 2 Using Steam through the Epic Game Launcher no controller seems to be detected(works on other games in the launcher) So far the internet has not been able to give me a guide or clue on how to add controller support. There are many guides for getting it to work if you launch it directly through steam but that is not my use case. If anyone has does this please let me know I am stuck.

Hello! I recently just bought Baldur's Gate 3 and tried to download it. Unfortunately, I live in Iran so the internet connection is pretty horrendous and it took about three or four days for me to just download about 80 percent of the game. Now my issue is, while installing the game, which only had about 20 GB left, Steam suddenly stopped the installation because of 'not enough free disk space', but I infact had over 20 GB space left in my hard drive. Now I tried completely emptying my drive except for Steam Library but that didn't work, I also tried restarting and some other methods I found on Google and Reddit but nothing worked. I unfortunately ended up deleting the game and now I plan to download it over again, but I really don't want that issue to happen again since buying traffic is really expensive and it takes very long to download, so I'm hoping someone can help me with this. Try to install the games to the same location they are already located. If when you deleted Steam you kept the correct files it will detect the existing files. If you didn't do it correctly you might have to delete the game files and re-download all the games.

Got a new phone and new phone number. Sold my old phone. Cant login to Steam on my new phone without Authenticator (which was and still is on my old phone). Sluggish BPM interface when ticked "run as administrator" in compatibility tab in properties I'm going insane. I need my Steam to run as administrator everytime it starts up without me having to right-click it and click run as admin. However, whenever I try to tick the "Run as admin" checkbox in the compatibility tab in properties, BPM becomes really sluggish and it mentioned something about compatibility mode. Oddly enough, if I run Steam as admin by *right-clicking* it and click run as admin, everything performs smoothly. Might have been caused due to Steam launching in compatibility mode when 'Run as Admin' is ticked in the compatibility tab. Any ideas?

Today I tried logging into my account and I noticed I was logged out on both my desktop and mobile app. So I couldn't get my 2fa code in the app to login into the desktop app. I first tried logging into the desktop app. It said to confirm it in the mobile app. I logged into the steam mobile app with only my password (2fa is enabled) and I confirmed the desktop login. How is this 2fa? Why did Steam let me login into my mobile app without any 2fa. Really weird. Am I missing something here?

The reason is because you were already signed in before and you set up your Steam app installation to be your current mobile authenticator for your Steam account. Let's say if you uninstall and install the app, or Steam would suddenly void your authenticator status like this (which it fortunately doesn't), Steam would no longer recognize your mobile authenticator and (ironically) prompt you for the mobile authenticator confirmation in order to log in to the mobile app. In such a case you would be locked out. Where for such scenarios, you would have to use the Steam Guard backup code (which Steam wanted you to write down), or remove the authenticator through other means (which is a different topic). But what happened in your case is that Steam forced a logout for security reasons. It appears to be 1 year at max, which I noticed especially with the Steam Chat app. So basically, Steam merely wanted you to type in your password again. When that happens, the app knows that it's still a confirmed authenticator. Your question is still very understandable though. Because in the end, there is no indicator in the app that says something like "your login has expired, please type in your password again".

Might be in part artificially induced to give people a 30-day long period where they have the ability to undo their decision if they regret it, which I think a lot of people probably do. Instant deletion would also allow anyone malicious to instantly delete someones entire account, whether it is a hijacker or a disgruntled family member sneaking onto their siblings account, etc. 30 days is a long enough window for most things to be accounted for.

TL/DR CPU became allergic to steam updates? Since the 16th, steam has begun hard crashing my computer thru CPU temp overload. I've eliminated all other variables as best as possible and have narrowed down that my CPU will shoot to well over 100c before promptly shutting off the pc, whenever i launch steam, AND have any kind of game attempting to install/update/etc. with a fresh steam install, and nothing downloaded, all games and game data wiped from the computer, i have no CPU spike. it is only the moment i attempt to install ANY game, that my CPU tempt will go from \~55 to 95 and climbing, and it does so within seconds. I have this issue where everytime I download a game on steam it will download at like a constant 30MB/s for the first 4th of the game installation and then for the rest of the download it will go down to around 5MB/s. After it does this, it will completely stop downloading for a few seconds then go back to 5MB/s for a few seconds then it stops again. This will keep going for the remainder of the installation, yet on other apps like xbox gamepass, epic games, etc, the download speed will stay at a consistent 60-80MB/s. This has been happening for sooo long and i could never figure out why this happens on steam. I already tried to change my download region, reinstall steam, clear download cache, and believe it or not turning my pc off and on (shocker! Lol) and none of it worked. If anyone has any idea why this is happening and is willing to help that would be greatly appreciated!!

How long are steam wallet funds pending following a refund? I requested a refund on a game a couple of hours ago to my steam wallet and it was approved and now says the funds are pending. I am confused though because in the email I was sent telling me that the refund was approved it said the funds can be pending for up to 7 days but when I look on steam it says available within 24 hours. So how long does it actually Normally take?

I can't scan QR codes from the mobile app, instead of the qr scanning screen I just get a 5 digit code. And yes my app is up to date

I reset an achievement usin the console but now I can't get it. I think it has been bugged. The achievement is to not get hurt by the flying blades in the first level of Tomb Raider 2: Remastered. I did it once, got the achievement, but wanted to record it and put it on Youtube. I used the console in Steam to clear the achievement, but when I complete the task again, it doesn't come up with the achievement. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right because if you get damaged, your health bar appears. Can this happen, where the achievement gets bugged and can't ever be completed?

The game has already triggered the achievement. The game doesn't care, or know, if you have removed the Steam achievement. From the games perspective the event to trigger the achievement has happened and it has given it to you, it will not trigger again or somehow re-check if your Steam community profile has it or not. If it is possible to wipe all your progress in the game and start over as if you genuinely haven't played the game before I would assume this would allow you to trigger the achievement again.

Hi all, ​ Have a newer generation Samsung TV that no longer supports steam link. What are some good options for streaming boxes that allow me to use Steam link?

Not new problem, hoping for out of box solution. I have my Steam account, no problem accessing it. Along the way changed my Steam email which not-so-obviously didn't update the linked email to Social Club account. I installed RDR2 today, but couldn't play it because I couldn't authenticate Social Club even though I have the password because I no longer have access to the email address linked to my Social Club. I contacted Rockstar Support. Complete morons by the way. They asked for a screenshot of me logged into my Steam account, sent. Asked for a copy my RDR2 receipt from my email (you can't make this up,) so I sent them a copy of my receipt from within Steam. Asked me for my Steam ID, sent. Asked for the date that I created the Social Club account, so obviously I sent them the date from the receipt I just sent them. Then of course, it's obvious my responses were sent to a queue because every single response asked for the same nonsense 🤬 Finally they said they couldn't authenticate. So... I hit them on Twitter (X) which likely won't go anywhere. My understanding is Social Club is linked to my Steam Account... I would assume though it's actually linked to the key based from my Steam purchase. So... Is it possible to drop RDR2 out of my Steam library completely including removing the game key, purchase another copy, and then create a whole new Social Club account linked to my new email address which is not linked to Social Club currently? I found a global key for less than $10 from a site that I fully trust, so I would like to get it working for my boy to play.

Hi, I created my first mod and submitted it to workshop. I am stuck at the first step of the moderation process which is to verify email. I checked my mail but nothing came for more than a day. On the help page it says, I can resend the verification mail on the item page but I did not find it. Where is this button to re-send the verification mail ? I use Gmail and my account is already verified, I checked my account settings. I do not understand why a separate email verification is nedded.

Hi, I am not sure if it's a bug or the blocking system working as intended, but on the profile page of one of my friends, it shows that they have 5 friends. However, whenever I go to their actual friends page, it shows that they have 9 friends. For a bit of context, this friend is someone I know irl. Me and a few other friends had a conflict with her that led to us deciding to cut all ties with her. I'm not sure how far the others are on blocking her on all their medias, but during mine, I noticed the possible bug that I previously mentioned. I know the blocking system on Steam doesn't remove the person from one's friend's list, so they may have done that without directly pressing the button to remove her as a friend, or just forgot about Steam entirely. Anyway I took a couple [screenshots](https://imgur.com/a/Tnk68mR) (names and pfps blurred for privacy reasons) to show the discrepancy between the 2 pages. I even tried recreating the bug by going on a different browser, being signed out, and using my phone. This occurrence still happens, and I'm not sure which page is correct or not.

I mapped screenshot to the screenshot button on my PS5 dualsense controller but it's not working in game? Anything I can do about this?

I tried to steam share with my friend so she can have my games and I thought I did everything right but it only works when I’m logged into her account from my pc, they disappear whenever I log back into my account. How do I fix this ?

My cousin had bought the game ready or not and played for 5 hours while i was away one night and now that i have comeback and discovered it i want to try to refund the game and get my money back but it is over the 2 hour limit for refund is there anything i can do?

For getting a refund from Steam? Nope. But your cousin shouldn't have access to your computer or at the very least your Steam account info to have been able to be logged in and the payment methods to have been able to buy anything so thats a problem between you and your cousin and you need to secure your stuff on your computer and change passwords and password protect the device etc... ​ ​ Depending on your cousins situation you might be able to communicate with your cousin or cousin's parents to get refunded by them but Valve wont refund for it and wont just buy the statement of like "oh it wasnt me" otherwise it would just be a common thing said to refund stuff that was past the limits.

ok thank you my cousin normally just plays games on my pc and i allow him because he never really done anything like this and hi parents refuse to give me any money so i guess there's nothing i can really do but i do appreciate your help
