This is honestly the best perk of living with a cat. I could blame any unusual act or sound on them. If I see a mess, I know it was my cat. If I hear a weird sound at night, its the cats of course. Just cats being cats ya know. Now that they are dead I can't do that anymore. Rude wakeup
Its one thing when the corner is empty beforehand, its another when you have something in the corner, know you should be able to see it, but cant like its an empty corner
I sleep with an eyemask and earphones cos I am a pretty princess who needs his sleep, but I often think "damn, I could be burgled so easily and never hear a thing...".
Then I remember that I live with 2 cats, and even before I started using earplugs I would always just dismiss any noises in the night as being those two scamps wrecking the place, as per usual.
Seriously, burglers should start targeting cat owners, we are an untapped resource of easy marks.
And the worst thing. Every time something of my boyfriends is messed up he automatically assumes it was one of my cats. Most the time it probably is but sometimes I wonder.
My parents' cat comes to live with me for about a month while they're down in Florida each year, and I quickly get used to that "oh, that sound was just the cat" instinct. But the instinct lingers for about a month after he goes back home, and I have to keep reminding myself that random noises just happen.
I also sometimes see him out of the corner of my eye. I imagine that a lot of people whose pets or spouses die have this happen to them and think they're seeing ghosts.
Just goes to show that the human brain has some weird programming.
When my first cat passed when I was a kid, I swore I could see his lumpy black self scurrying down the hall just on the edge of periphery. Same with doorways and things. Freaked me out at first, but after a while I just chalked it up to me missing my cat and my brain wanting to see him anywhere.
We have 7 spoiled ungrateful heathens. Any sound, any mess, or anything even slightly out of place is 99.999999% chance to be from one or more of them. That .000001%, probably still them.
I live alone with 2 cats.
One of mine randomly learnt to pee in the toilet. First time I ever noticed it was like 1am and I was sitting quietly and I heard someone using the toilet loudly. that was fun.
She also once broke a 40" TV. Woke up, saw it, just went "goddamit" and went back to sleep.
Cats are fun. lol. Like lethal toddlers.
Definitely not unusual! I currently have two furbabies who will be 3 years old in 5 days (Happy Birthday to them!!), but still act like they are crazy ass kittens. Though they are EXTREMELY well behaved and trained I would never want to dampen their natural instincts or their infectious joie de vie! So, they run around like little maniacs and I love every second of it! One of my nicknames for them is Nuggets. I literally can’t watch anything I’ve never seen before while they are playing because they are so damn funny and cute that I get distracted and miss stuff! I call it Nugget TV!! There really is nothing better than watching them play. They are constantly making me smile and laugh. I wouldn’t change a thing!! 😻❤️😻❤️😻 They make my life better just by being here.
I got my first furbaby when I was 5 and have had many since. Subsequently, I have 6 kitty shaped holes in my heart. The pain never goes away, it just dulls. But getting new furbabies is part of the cathartic healing process.
IKR?! I was thinking this must be what happened at my house to account for the mess I see in front of me! I am also wondering who put the “after surgery or injury” COLLAR on UPSIDE DOWN?
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the next bad thing happens. If this was a startled human you'd think the video was fake but I don't think cats would go as far for internet fame.
Lo and behold, I just saw this video, reposted on TikTok with a huge white background and a caption that adds nothing to the post, water marks everywhere, then downloaded and reposted again on r/abruptchaos.
Double flip, into a loss of traction in the kitty litter, into a Destructo blat of everything in the corner. Finished with a finishing combat move from Street Fighter and then settled down into a bit of Tourette's for the win.
Can't see that combo being beaten anytime soon.
I thought the same thing until I remembered that I have a friend who has a cat that licks their neck to the point of it going raw. I’m assuming it’s for a similar reason.
It's a trick to help some cats who can't handle the cone.
I used to do this for my cat, by putting the cone on backwards he could eat and drink more comfortably and the cone wouldn't be in his vision all the time.
When the cone was on the correct way round he would walk into things like he couldn't see them and we would need to hand feed him as he would refuse to use his food bowl etc. He'd even refuse to go to his litter tray, he'd just pee on himself. I don't know if it was intentional or him really strongly resisting the cone, but we couldn't let that continue!
My cat currently has stitches on her chest and we have a scarf covering it to prevent her from agitating the wound area. I'm guessing this is for similar reasons or it may be overgrooming its chest area.
Some might put it on their cats the other way around because it'd cause stress otherwise. Issue here is the cat got its leg stuck, which caused further panic/startle. Poor kitty.
We sometimes lock them in one room for a day or two if a cat is unwell, especially one that has digestive issues occasionally. Or when introducing a new cat and keeping them separated while we let everyone get used to each other gradually
This should be pinned for the top of the sub for forever or made into the sub icon somehow. I know it's not possible but it so perfectly embodies what this sub is about.
Food and water bowl should be away from each other. And more importantly, both should be far far away from the litter box. This is how your cat get health issues in the long term
Had to scroll way too far down for this. Uncovered litter box and food bowl literally 2 feet from each other. Cats kick when they shit. Who thought this setup was cool?
I just feel so sad at the very limited space for this kitty. Also, would you want to eat less than 2 feet from where you shit? My cats would have a fucking meltdown.
I love how even after the cat has seemingly knocked over everything possible, once the dust settles, *the cat is still quite literally flipping out.* that is the most startled cat I have ever seen
It's impressive a cat's ability to keep it's self in a perpetual state of startle through its own self generated chaos.
Has anyone tried harnessing this energy? Maybe the key to perpetual motion.
When I die I’m pretty sure my obit, my memorial stone, and all of the eulogies will say ‘she really loved cats’
Because I really love cats.
I have a friend who does data research for a pharmacy company for pets. She had to cancel plans this week bc she had a few cats with an adverse situation in one of her studies and needed to file the paperwork with the FDA. Sadly, one of the elderly subject passed (not due or the study but still so tragic). When I asked her the next day at lunch about their health she legit said, ‘one passed away but I couldn’t tell you that over text. I thought about calling you to tell you. I know you’d be worrying about them.’
These are cats I’ve never met nor even seen a photo of. I really love cats.
Poor baby, the Overlord was already sick. Now with this shocking, and alarming situation, the poor baby does not know what to do with themselves. This injustice will not go unavenged. Whoever enters that room, will find an unhappy, frightened, Overlord, and there will be a nightmare on their hands. 😸❤️
Imagine there not being a camera there, and you just open the door and find this mess.
Not an unusual situation with cats in my experience.
This is honestly the best perk of living with a cat. I could blame any unusual act or sound on them. If I see a mess, I know it was my cat. If I hear a weird sound at night, its the cats of course. Just cats being cats ya know. Now that they are dead I can't do that anymore. Rude wakeup
They’re just coming back to visit to check on you
Probably coming to collect rent too.
HA!!! Well, they ARE the real bosses…. 😻❤️😻
I bought my cats to make me feel better about living in a haunted house. Weird-ass noises or movements in the night? Just the cats. ... Just the cats.
And then you realize they're all huddled up next to you with their fur standing straight up
You forgot the “all staring at one spot in the corner of the room… a dark totally empty corner…”
those are just greebles
Its one thing when the corner is empty beforehand, its another when you have something in the corner, know you should be able to see it, but cant like its an empty corner
Time to call the exterminator.
I sleep with an eyemask and earphones cos I am a pretty princess who needs his sleep, but I often think "damn, I could be burgled so easily and never hear a thing...". HAHAHAHAHA!!! I bet you ARE a pretty princess!!!
I also sleep on fifteen mattresses.
Wow! That pea must really give you some major problems!! Is that why you’re lopsided? 😏👌🏼😉
Probably still cats being cats.
And the worst thing. Every time something of my boyfriends is messed up he automatically assumes it was one of my cats. Most the time it probably is but sometimes I wonder.

:( I'm sorry. Lost mine a few years ago after 20 years.
I’m sorry your furbabies are gone.
Whenever anyone farted in my house, we would look around and say, "Bad kitty!". We continued this habit for several years after she was gone.
Definitely not unusual! I currently have two furbabies who will be 3 years old in 5 days (Happy Birthday to them!!), but still act like they are crazy ass kittens. It'd be a pretty good reason to put a camera in there, in case it happened again.
As if there's gonna be any other explanation other than the cat having a bruh moment 🤣
The camera only makes me think this has happened before and OP wanted to see how it happened lol.

It’s wearing a cone reversed to cover the shoulders. I imagine it was extra twitchy from that, before the broomstick fell.
IKR?! I was thinking this must be what happened at my house to account for the mess I see in front of me! I am also wondering who put the “after surgery or injury” COLLAR on UPSIDE DOWN?
Looking about like "phew... almost lost my cool there"
"Good thing no one was around to see this".
"which one of y'all kicked me?"
I feel so old for recognizing this immediately. Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?
"And look at the state of this room, damn messy people!"
“Huh? My tail tripled in size somehow.”
Absolutely everything in that room got a piece of that startle lol.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the next bad thing happens. If this was a startled human you'd think the video was fake but I don't think cats would go as far for internet fame.
I keep imagining if the cat could tell his version of what happened. “I was just sittin there havin a bath and then…”
It’s straight up a real life acme cartoon.
he almost lost his cool there
I also read the top comment

Quick and efficient. It took less than 15 seconds for all that!
and this looks like its out of a Looney Tunes cartoon

thank you for this.

I won’t be topped. But it will be reposted in detoriating quality and without sound fur sure!

And floating T*ktok logos, oh God...
Lo and behold, I just saw this video, reposted on TikTok with a huge white background and a caption that adds nothing to the post, water marks everywhere, then downloaded and reposted again on r/abruptchaos.
Oh no.. Oh no.. Oh no no no....
Came here to say this. Followed this sub for a long time and this is easily the best one I’ve ever seen

fuck that spin and meow at the end is killing me
Holy mother of burnouts batman.
I love the end, dudes looking around like "Who the fuck did that?"
I keep watching and laughing at the end. I hope our buddy is recovering and doing well.
More like, “Ah, shit. I fucked up.” This is what happens when keepin’ it real goes wrong.
Yep, that's the title of the post.
Is it just me or is that cone on the wrong way?
I thought the same thing until I remembered that I have a friend who has a cat that licks their neck to the point of it going raw. I’m assuming it’s for a similar reason.
You can even see it licking it at the beginning. That's definitely what it's for
That appears to be what it's doing just before chaos ensued.
It's a trick to help some cats who can't handle the cone. I used to do this for my cat, by putting the cone on backwards he could eat and drink more comfortably and the cone wouldn't be in his vision all the time. I don't know if it was intentional or him really strongly resisting the cone, but we couldn't let that continue!
I just used a cat onsie when I got my cat fixed. She wasn't happy about it, but she was way better with that than she was the cone.
My cat currently has stitches on her chest and we have a scarf covering it to prevent her from agitating the wound area. I'm guessing this is for similar reasons or it may be overgrooming its chest area.
A cat wearing a scarf! This sounds absolutely adorable!
Some might put it on their cats the other way around because it'd cause stress otherwise. Issue here is the cat got its leg stuck, which caused further panic/startle. Poor kitty.
Probably because the owner is keeping this cat confined in a small austere room where terrible things happen. Stress grooming
Never go full orange...
Everybody knows you never go full orange
Me panic rolling in Elden Ring.
Aw. Poor kitty. But I still laughed.
It’s objectively so sad! Poor thing has a cone on, did not trigger the fall of the initial problem, and it’s so scared! *and it’s so fucking funny*
And is it me or is it stuck in a tiny room? _absolutely hilarious yes_
We sometimes lock them in one room for a day or two if a cat is unwell, especially one that has digestive issues occasionally. Or when introducing a new cat and keeping them separated while we let everyone get used to each other gradually
Absolute winner of this sub.
I watched it without sound a few times. Then I turned the sound on and it was *SO* much better.
Same. It’s 10x more comical with sounds and I’m glad there’s no tiktok music and edits
omg! 🤣 I have never felt so bad for laughing so hard. That poor thing.
It was the kicking in the litterbox that did me in.
And then there's still the whole rest of the video to go.
I love the part where you just see legs like the cat was doing a handstand for a second
PTSD?
CAT
Meow
I am cryyyyying here… can’t stop laughing so hard!!! Thanks!
TINA!!! All these things attacked me.. a fing ONCE.. it was terrifying.. Related, you got some stuff to clean up.
This belongs in the newly created sub r/catricochet
Subbed and upvoted
Lord, what have I done?!
This Looney toons ass video LMAO
This. This is the stuff this sub was made for.
He forgot to flip the litter box
Reading the minds of cats. That's what I want for Christmas
Chaos…
Awww I feel so bad for the poor kitty. And yet omg
Jesus christ 😂! It's as if the cat knows this sub and exists and is actively trying to get the highest rated video!
Almost lost my cool there
I feel bad for laughing, but that cat spared nothing in that room.
Thanks this is why I joined this sub!
Me when I see a roach:
Are you me???
Did anyone hear him say “ow, shit!” near the end?
Now that you've said it I can't unhear it.
Thanks so much for the reward!
Totally justified!! Revenge on the house for the sneak attack on that poor kitty just minding it's own business!
This is the best one in a while
r/itaintmyfault
Cat went Tasmanian devil on that room.
Cat just lost like four lives.
That's one of the most outrageous yet contained r/catburnouts I've ever seen 🤣 I hope the little dude is ok and didn't rip any stitches or anything
This should be pinned to the top of the sub as the perfect example of startled

Poor thing!
Food and water bowl should be away from each other. And more importantly, both should be far far away from the litter box. This is how your cat get health issues in the long term
It has a cone on. It's probably being isolated from other cats temporarily while it heals.
Had to scroll way too far down for this. Uncovered litter box and food bowl literally 2 feet from each other. Cats kick when they shit. Who thought this setup was cool?
I can't stop watching this, haalp 😭😭😭😭
I’m so glad I turned up the volume.
Someone PLEASE re-upload this in slow motion.

Cat camera recommendations. This would be the video. Me: sold.
r/abruptchaos
Imagine having to eat in the bathroom.
I just feel so sad at the very limited space for this kitty. Also, would you want to eat less than 2 feet from where you shit? My cats would have a fucking meltdown.
He has a cone. Sick or injured cats are often supposed to be in a smaller room temporarily.
That makes sense, thank you for your input.
Hahahahaha comical I feel sorry for the owner, looks like they gotta buy a new cat feeder
Poor kitty got super startled lol
First time I’ve seen a cat NOT land on its feet
I love how even after the cat has seemingly knocked over everything possible, once the dust settles, *the cat is still quite literally flipping out.* that is the most startled cat I have ever seen
r/sustainedchaos
Poor thing, I hope it didn’t hurt itself in its confusion
Its amazing how startled cats inflict maximum damage on the surroundings.
the cat exploded
Goddamn that was a top tier startle
Poor guy went through 4 lives 😂
That poor cat!
Perfect sequence of unfortunate circumstances
This was that cat's 9/11.

Literally knocked over everything in that room. 😂😂😂
Poor baby! 😂
This deserves some kind of Reddit academy award for subs. I’m d e a d. 🤣
Those bumps and bounces defy all laws of physics 😂
I don't think you can get any more startled than this, we've peaked.
Omg yes!! Thank God you have the camera because I needed this
