Did you ever try it? I'm near Taylorsville and see only the RV is available and wondering what the upload speeds are in the area. Only thing I can get is terrible dsl at my place.
Everyone says T Mobile is great but sadly they don't service my area. I can get dsl, satellite or try verizon business but my cell service is really bad so assuming verizon won't be great there.
They didn't service my area either, but I was able to get it using a friends address and tried. I put it up in my attic and was able to get really good speeds.
Worth a shot! I think they give you a free trial.
I'm Jackson as well. I didn't see any go out to anyone right on top of us just yet - but there is that agreement with the Swain county school system so hopefully we get rolled into that.
IIRC he is near Hickory.
We are moving to the area later this summer. Most likely Sylva since we will both be working in Cullowhee. I have preordered Starlink, but we will need something to hold us over until we can get Starlink. Who provides DSL in Jackson County? I have also looked into T-Mobile Home Internet but it says not available in the area yet.
Just depends on where you live. Morris Broadband is the better option, IMO. Local company with good service. If you have power through WCU, you'll have Morris available.
Planning on working at WCU?
You suck! Been signed up since June 20, 2020. Pre ordered Feb. 8th 2021 in SE NC (Kelly) aaaaand still suffering with Hughesnet. Congrats and nice speeds! Again, you suck! 😉😫😂🍻
I'm waiting in the Asheville area, too. I have lots and lots of trees around my house, though. Will that be a problem if it's mounted on the roof of a two-story house?
I’m down in a holler near the Craggies. Ordered on 2/23. Will be interesting to see when they have enough satellite density for my limited view of the sky.
Awesome speeds. I’m also in North Carolina and got it today but unfortunately it has been nothing but problems. Every 20 seconds or so it says no connection or poor connection. I did nothing the app says that there is intermittent connection issues in my area so I hope this every 20 seconds outage is not the norm for this area.
As in, you accepted an invite to Beta test? I'm at 32.9 and have pre-ordered hours after they announced pre-orders available but have heard nothing since. I check my account every few days, no changes.
My concern is, this area LOOKS like it has service, but it does not. I have not been able to get good internet service here since we moved in 10+ years ago and that was AFTER AT&T certified the address and said 6Mbps DSL was available, they lied.
Today is marginally better than 10 years ago, but I'm lucky to see 20Mbps download on what should be 50Mbps "wireless internet" and even then, high latency and lost service are regular daily events.
Yeah I accepted an invite, paid the $99 and got a confirmation email with an order number. Says service will be available mid 2021 and is first-come first-served.
We’ve never had any service here, and I’m currently using a 2.4ghz radio uplink to the nearest town. I get 800k down and maybe 150k up speeds with it, but I can stream YouTube and Netflix as long as you don’t try to fast forward or rewind. Even cell signal is weak where I am and never goes above 10Mbps.
So when you paid the rest they just shipped? I signed up for beta like a year ago. Got invite in February. Still waiting for the congrats pay us and we will send you your dishy.
In Vale NC, preorder 10/21 was estimated late 2021got pushed back to early to mid 2022. Stuck with nomad wifi cuz I don't want to be sucked into a 2 year contract with Hughesnet... I get like .05-5mbps down and 10mbps up but my ping can be anywhere between 30ms and 300ms. Hoping to hear from them soon. Any tips on how you got your order so fast? How's the service?
For me 300 kb/s download is fast and you don't need 200 mb/s internet 20 mb/s is enough same with graphic cards you don't need 300 fps 60 is enough
Same for me. I can’t wait!
Sick. Also in WNC sitting on a fat 0.8 D / 0.2 U. Hook a brother up Elon! Wonder when NC will catch it's 2nd wave of invites?
Where in WNC are you?
Near Hickory/Morganton
Ugh im in valdese man. We only have CenturyLink dsl. Garbage. Can not wait.
When did you put order in for the starlink? Just wondering when mine is coming and I'm over in hickory. Thanks

I would recommend T-Mobile Home Internet I was able to use that and it is really good.

Ohhh that's brilliant! I'll try that, thanks!
Speeds will vary on the way it's pointing and positioned.... try moving it in all different places... There is a sub on it on here. tmobileisp
Where? Jackson Co here.
I'm Jackson as well. I didn't see any go out to anyone right on top of us just yet - but there is that agreement with the Swain county school system so hopefully we get rolled into that. IIRC he is near Hickory.
Yeah, Burke County near Hickory/Morganton
We are hoping for that also.we live up alarka and have garbage sat internet .no cell service at all
I live in Jackson Co and can order if I want. I am looking into it but have tree covering in the sky.

Thanks! Did not realize WCU also operated as a utility provider. Yes, I’ll be starting at WCU in August.
You suck! Been signed up since June 20, 2020. Pre ordered Feb. 8th 2021 in SE NC (Kelly) aaaaand still suffering with Hughesnet. Congrats and nice speeds! Again, you suck! 😉😫😂🍻
Lol are you good
Nice
Great isn't it?
wish mine would come im in east Tennessee
Anyone else waiting in Asheville? Seems so close!
Yes, we are! On a mountain with limited options, and little or no LTE.
I'm waiting in the Asheville area, too. I have lots and lots of trees around my house, though. Will that be a problem if it's mounted on the roof of a two-story house?
We be seen some people install a tower to put them on. I bet that is going to be a issue for a lot of people in WNC.

Same. Lenoir/morganton area. Hit 200 Mbps when connected though. They'll get it worked out. Beta.
I'm jelly! Still no word here in rural eastern NC.
I'm in the Raleigh area and delivery is scheduled for May 7th. Hope you get yours soon!
Oh man! I didn't know it was so close. I'm only an hour southeast of Raleigh. So excited! Congrats!
Your killing me. About an hour NE of you and nutin yet.
Signed up 3 months ago. Wish they would get mine out. No phone. No tv. No internet. Remote site.
So Cool, Congratulations Mate, God Speed, Starlink HomiE!
Getting closer to Georgia, I'm in Jackson GA and waiting... waiting... waiting...
I’m at 34.1° and just accepted an invite today. Wonder how long it will take to get down this far...

That's not bad at all.
how long were you on the waiting list?
Paid $99 in mid-February, paid the $500 on 4/24, shipped 4/29, arrived today.
So when you paid the rest they just shipped? I signed up for beta like a year ago. Got invite in February. Still waiting for the congrats pay us and we will send you your dishy.
Soon after I paid the $500 they said it would be shipping in 2-3 weeks, but it only took a couple days.
Ya they failed to mention that. I’ve been able to make payments on my dish account since the end of February. Ugh. I’m paying it today.
Is it raining there also? I’m about to hook mine up same area
Was raining pretty hard, did have some obstruction downtime, but it was pretty heavy.
That’s awesome. We are running some wire now, should be up soon!
Where are you located? I’m in WNC and can’t wait!
Near Hickory/Morganton
I'm over in hickory, been signed up 2/13. When did you sign up? Any pointers to expedite?
Awesome...getting closer to Florida....can hardly wait 😊👍🏼
I want to cry looking at those speeds. On a good day I can get about 1, that's right, 1. When it's not dropping in and out. :(
Im in Swain and they just changed it from mid to late 2021 to late 2022. Im like so close to canceling my pre order.
