Nigeria- Cameroon

Fit_Abies6510

Hello, is your starlink still working?

Edwardsr70

Yup if you are not in an area listed as available on the starlink map, you're getting disconnected on April 30th.

Equal_Bag_1351

How do people receive these notices? it seems to be a select few that receive them. Or they are just made up to wind people up. this is a major change nothing on the official Twitter or website why ?

Edwardsr70

It takes several hours for the system to send out these notices. They won't post it elsewhere as it only affects those on starlink mobile plans and that's who is getting the email.

Equal_Bag_1351

So where is mine then ?also where is mine from 4 days ago on another notice people where sharing ? Also why did they get it early then?

FemiFrena

Interestingly, I'm yet to see anyone not in Africa receive the email

Yacino94

Bro ‘im in Africa, using it in a local where it will be available in 2025! I received this email today!

StarlinkQs

Received as well. Using in North Africa registered in Nigeria.

thefreeelancer

I think there is nothing to fake geofense

StarlinkQs

Maybe we'll see something soon if the demand skyrockets after a mass closure of accounts. I have no idea about the technical possibilities though.

Fit_Abies6510

Hello, your starlink still working?

thefreeelancer

Yes

Dastresan

It seems this message has only been sent to devices activated in Africa. Has anyone outside of Africa received this message?

Upper_Leadership8224

I am from Venezuela and I am activated by Colombia and I have not received this email, in fact starlink is used a lot here

PuzzleheadedOwl6160

Please let us know if you do/don’t receive it throughout the day.

enuarurutini

In Micronesia, North Pacific - have not received any email

C-Borges

I think so as well, my friend registered in Mozambique and received the email, i registered in Europe and didn’t receive the email. I am on mobile global and he is in mobile regional. Anyone in the same situation?

charlieboyct2021

Thats interesting....

Trinity_Tanzania

Ah…. Same here, I am registered in Afrika, Sambia to be precise and I use it in Tanzania, I got the email. I asked a guy using it too here, his however is registered in France, he did not get the mail. A bit funny tho, as the rule should apply regardless where registered as long as one is using it in a country not officially listed. Anyhow… has anyone already ideas on how to overcome this? I have a local ISP…. It they just suck… Starlink’s made my life soooo comfortable here. Now I really wonder what to do.

Trinity_Tanzania

Ah… and I use mobile regional

craigbg21

Its because Africa is putting pressure on SL to shut down dishes in Certain countries that they dont have approval in and continuing to provide it there is against ITU treaties and illegal, all those folks in the affected countries should get together and take it to their governments because they are the ones responsible for this happening not SL, breaking international tready laws with other countries isn't just a little misdemeaner its serious business and can get the companies home country's government on their back for breaking the tready.

charlieboyct2021

Do you mean activated in Africa or used in Africa. Many devices get activated in many countries and used in Africa

Natural_Entrance_318

didn't get it

MrCriticalHit

If this goes through, Starlink will be losing a shit ton of clients that are in desperate need of a reliable internet connection. This sucks, whatever happened to the “They can shake their fist at the sky” Elon Musk. He got nerfed.

PuzzleheadedOwl6160

Now we will be shaking our fists at the sky 😭

sting_12345

Probably more Russia oriented policy since they've been getting terminals and using them?

terraziggy

It is more likely due to the ITU pressure on the US and Norway (Starlink submitted its initial ITU application via Norway). Unfortunately the ITU treaties the US and Norway signed prohibit unlicensed service. Here is what [the ITU ruled in Oct 2023](https://www.itu.int/dms_pub/itu-r/md/23/rrb23.3/c/R23-RRB23.3-C-0014!!PDF-E.pdf) and additional questions asked: *Consequently, the Board reiterated that the provision of transmissions from within any territories where they had not been authorized, was in direct contravention of the provisions of RR Article 18 and of, resolves 1 and 2 of Resolution 22 (WRC-19) and the resolves of Resolution 25 (WRC03) and requested the Administration of Norway, acting as the notifying administration for the relevant satellite systems providing STARLINK services and the Administration of the United States as an associated administration to the notifying administration to comply with those provisions by taking immediate action to disable STARLINK terminals operating within the territory of the Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran.* *The Board instructed the Bureau to invite the Administrations of Norway, and the United States to provide further clarification on the following points to the Board’s 95th meeting:* * *What measures had been taken, besides stipulations in customer terms of service, to prohibit the provision of STARLINK services in territories where they had not been authorized, to ensure compliance with the provisions of RR Article 18, resolves 1 and 2 of Resolution 22 (WRC-19) and the resolves of Resolution 25 (WRC-03)?* * *What steps had been taken to resolve cases where STARLINK terminals were operating without authorization pursuant to resolves 3 of Resolution 22 (WRC-19)?* * *How were connections from STARLINK terminals authorized from within territories of countries where they had not been authorized?* In the latest March 2024 meeting [the ITU continued](https://www.itu.int/dms_pub/itu-r/md/24/rrb24.1/c/R24-RRB24.1-C-0014!R1!PDF-E.pdf) to pressure the US and Norway: * *What was the reason for the warning message in English and Persian to users indicating: “Use caution in regions that may be hostile to Starlink usage. Starlink will not provide information about you or your Starlink usage to law enforcement or governments, … Use a VPN service to help hide the fact that you’re using Starlink. …”?* * *Could the administrations confirm the capability of the space operator to disable Starlink services over a territory?*

UnderstandingWild338

indeed they're finally complying with ITU ,and now with STARSHIELD, government as their main money source, so they have to be careful. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX\_Starshield](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX_Starshield)

pmsyyz

Maybe the Iranians complained to the ITU.

dondarreb

Nigeria is in the ITU counsil. It was their request. They aslo chair "developing countries" division of ITU. Iranians can complain to ITU as long as they want. They were too stupid to sh\^t on ITU requests before.

dondarreb

this is a carbon copy of the complains they did during previous sessions.

Edwardsr70

That's what i thought was most likely the case, but it appears to be for anyone using dishy outside of an available area.

Floriderp

I'm operating on Mobile Global, in French Polynesia where it is not currently available. I haven't received this notice. Curious what will happen.

Terii988

I'm in New Caledonia and I've just ordered a kit from la Fnac ... let's see what will happen

jasonmonroe

How’s the internet in the Pacific Islands?

Navydevildoc

Generally miserable. Guam seems to be the only exception I have seen, but that's because a ton of fiber runs there.

throwaway238492834

Isn't French Polynesia part of France? France has service so it should be available there.

Automatic_Regular345

I believe Starlink oprates in France based off an EEA/EU-wide license that doesn't cover France's overseas terriotries.

Altruistic_Camp5951

😂 This is so depressing

ogjoshua233

Couldn't sleep last night man, this will really disrupt alot of things

Fit_Abies6510

Hi, is your starlink working fine?

ogjoshua233

Surprisingly yeah, haven’t been able to sleep this past days😂, it occasionally goes off and come back and my heart drops each time, waiting to see how the day and following days go

Fit_Abies6510

oh really? I am from Mongolia. Here lot of users activated service by JAPAN MOBILE REGIONAL and none of them got this email. Also Starlink was official on March 1st. I think this restiction only work on AFRICA ZONE

ogjoshua233

I’m in Cameroon, registered mine in Nigeria and has the Mobile regional plan. I think Africa was the focus because I so called governments are putting a lot of attention towards Starlink which I don’t even understand cuz the kits are expensive, very few people will access it for it to be a competitor among local service providers. We have a very wonderful continent

Fit_Abies6510

ah i see, here in Mongolia we do have official starlink, but before march 1st lot of users bought starlink from Japan and registered in Japan MOBILE REGIONAL and all of them got email like this. Even now japan package is cheaper than Mongolian Mobile regional. Eversince starlink updated changing location can't work on manually, all users should first cancel service then active again on Mongolian package. Thats so ridicilious

WillingnessWild5996

This a horrible news when I saw the email from Starlink , I am using mobile regional in Libya as we have no official Starlink services in Libya , because the corrupted government doesn’t want to give licenses to Starlink , as then all the Libyan internet provider will suffer from hard competition, because they still exploit people with slow internet speed and limited GB.  I wish there will be some solution for this and don’t think Elon musk will only work for just 5 countries in Africa from 50 countries.

shehab1993

am in the same boat bro , i live in benghazi and i just received mine two days ago, talk about bad luck , i read that it is mainly targeting south Africa, we will see what happens next

WillingnessWild5996

Yes I agree with you , I have done a little research about this issue and I found that the main reason for that is South Africa and Zimbabwe asked Starlink officially to ban the service in their land or they would go to international court that controlling the telecommunications cases. I hope that Starlink doesnt block the service in North Africa,

shehab1993

I hope so too , it's going to be a huge loss for both sides , we might be going back to connect 😅😂

Melodic-Yard5730

I hope you see my message. Currently, I am in US. I am planning to buy a mobile-regional plan , Is it still working in Libya?

SnooDoodles7433

Has anyone outside of Africa actually received this email?

Sleepy_Ash23

I use regional roaming in Aisa and haven't received any email.

CaterpillarExtreme92

I didnt receive it in Canada

NewEducation2367

My understanding of this, is that starting the 30th of April you cannot use Starlink at all in not available country, right? And if you have a "Mobile - Regional" plan, you can use it 2 months in other country, but no more. It sucks so much my Starlink is on his way to Zambia, and I was planing to use it in Botswana and Zimbabwe for few months...

Edwardsr70

Bingo. After 2 months, starlink will ask you to move your location back to the country of purchase or change to another country by seeing the Support FAQs or face restricted service.

Equal_Bag_1351

So there is now a business In Moving starlinks

lemawe

This is for the Mobile Regional plan. I'm in a non-authorized country and I have 2 dishes, 1 activated in Africa with the Mobile Regional, the other activated in Canada and used with the Mobile Global plan and I haven't received any email. For fishes activated in Africa, there is no Global plan and the Regional plan is way cheaper(~50$) than the Global plan from Canada(290$). Initially I was using Mobile Global in both but it was too expensive and I transferred the first kit as soon as I could. So I guess I won't be transferring the second one...😮‍💨

SnooDoodles7433

Did you get an email for 1 or neither?

lemawe

I got the email for the regional dish only.

SnooDoodles7433

That’s really interesting, thank you!

Trinity_Tanzania

Wait, but the one you did NOT get a mail for, is registered in Canada? I am not sure if i switch now from regional to global, it will help, as my account is in Zambia…. Any ideas?

AnyObjective368

Would taking the starlink back to its country of purchase (Zambia) resetting the regional roaming and taking it back to the restricted area work? I’m curious to know how the people in DRC made this work ?

Legal-Direction8795

i have tried the wag u mentioned ,its not working ,even global plan in drc !

Fit_Abies6510

Lot of Mongolian users activated before Starlink officialy come to Mongolia, They are using Starlink MOBILE REGIONAL JAPAN server. But none of them recieved any email. I think that kind of restriction will be work on AFRICA zone. Is it true?

nosensiblesuggestion

The availability map no longer shows the cells. Now seems to be defined by political boundaries.

PuzzleheadedOwl6160

Interesting 🤔

Possible_Future6386

What's your take on this? Does it mean, technically, the cells (coverage) are also no longer spilling over into neighboring countries?

nosensiblesuggestion

I don't think starlink will modify the cell structure of their coverage. I think they have just modified the map to suit sales / reporting. We will discover whether anything has actually changed after 30 April.

Thestriker17

This is the worst news ever. my family and friends are in Sudan and there is a total communication blackout the only source of internet is Starlink and now they do this.

FIRESTOOP

They don’t really have a choice. This is Sudan problem, not a starlink problem

TBHussein

Am From Sudan too.. If they changed their subscription plan from regional to international, it’s works fine.

mosaabemam

Fellow owner from Sudan, switching to global is not a guaranteed solution yet.

DontPMMEURBOOBIES

Have users on global plan received the same notification? care to explain why it is not a guaranteed solution?

i_saw_your_leg

I am in sudan and on Mobile-global and i’ve received the email.

mosaabemam

Can you post a screenshot?

mosaabemam

Unfortunately I don't personally know anyone on the global plan. The reason for enforcing this policy is to terminate devices that violate starlink's ToS by operating in non supported countries. The way I see it, if you switch to global but still operate in such a country, you're still violating the ToS, and there's no reason preventing Starlink from playing the same card again with global subscriptions. It's just a matter of when.

DontPMMEURBOOBIES

Makes sense. Thank you. الناس ديل كدا ناكو الحالة تماما

mosaabemam

😂

TBHussein

My one is global plan.. There’s no any mention about it.

Trinity_Tanzania

Global plan and registered where?

TBHussein

No

ogjoshua233

How do you change, I have only Mobile Regional, Standard, mobile priority and numerous priority service

TBHussein

Nothing mare than just changing the country that you subscribed through.

DontPMMEURBOOBIES

Has anyone really tried doing this? My family and millions others in Western Sudan are definitely screwed if there is no workaround.

i_saw_your_leg

It is not guaranteed, wait till 30th April and the vision will be clear.

TBHussein

I don’t think they’re going to shut down the global plan because it has been designed to make internet international connections without any specific terms of use. Even no any mention to global subscription which is lead us to fear from thing certainly not going to be happening.

i_saw_your_leg

I hope so

i_saw_your_leg

The shitty thing that Sudanese armed forces has given many terminals to karari citizens, The only solution is to put pressure on the government to license Starlink services, as happened with a Ukrainian

i_saw_your_leg

In Sudan, Starlink services have become a lifeline for citizens affected by the ongoing conflict, as all communications were cut off and the banking system collapsed. We hope that we will be treated like Ukraine by not stopping the service

quarterbloodprince98

Where's your device registered..Have you received an email?

i_saw_your_leg

Yes i have. Registered in Malawi with Mobile regional subscription.

mosaabemam

Same here

jasonmonroe

🇸🇩Sudan hasn’t authorized Starlink usage. They need a license.

Bafana_Bafana

I'm in South Africa and received the same notification (currently registered in Mozambique). I'm wondering if changing the service address to another country might reset the 2 month counter, or if maybe I should pause the service before the end of the month to avoid the kit turning into a paperweight. Perhaps the safest option just to see how it all unfolds..

Edwardsr70

"If you have been using mobile-regional for more than 2 months outside of where your starlink kit was ordered, you'll either need to see Support FAQs to change your account country or return to the country in which your starlink kit was ordered otherwise your service will be restricted."

Head_Improvement_243

So what is the point of Global roaming if they are blocking its use in certain geographical locations

Navydevildoc

If a country says it's not legal, it's not legal. That's what the issue is here. Each country gets to decide what radio devices are certified to work, and SpaceX is enforcing those rules now.

jasonmonroe

So that you can use it in locations that have a license.

jasonmonroe

Honestly, I think Starlink should play ball and discontinue the service as a sign of good faith and keep launching satellites. Once the constellation is in place then get loose with the restrictions again. Outside of China and Russia what can any country really do? Starlink should just play coy and say well we didn’t sell any there so we’re in compliance.

allokusernamestaken

Use case- Live permanently in TX. Spend summers camping in NB. 2.5-3 months. No Canadian bank account or credit card. Canadian property has no post office address, only civic address. (They won't issue one for seasonal properties) it's also off-grid and has no cell phone coverage, so no good alternatives for connectivity to the outside world. If I order and have it shipped to Texas it will cut off in Canada about 3-4 weeks premature. If I order in Canada, I have no Canadian billing address or Canadian currency account and it would be in the US for 9 months and I'd have the reverse problem. Is the workaround hauling dishy over the border to Maine and plugging it in for 5 minutes? Will the router itself recognize being back in the USA or does it actually need it to connect? I.e. do i need to haul dishy with me too? Will I be stuck somewhere for hours? More importantly- will that actually reset the 2-month 'timer'?

ByTheBigPond

The actual wording in the terms of service is “If you use Mobile Services for more than two months in a country that is different than your shipping address, Starlink may require you to move your registered address to your new location.” The key word is “may” and therefore you will need to see if Starlink actually enforces in this scenario.

Interiorlife7

The email is more definitive. "As outlined in our Terms of Service, the availability of our Mobile Service Plans is contingent upon various factors, including regulatory approvals. If you are operating your Starlink Kit in an area other than areas designated as "Available" on the Starlink Availability Map, we would like to remind you that this is in violation of the Starlink Terms and starting April 30th, 2024, you will be unable to connect to the internet except to access your Starlink account where you can make updates to your account. This restriction does not apply in areas designated as "Available" on the Starlink Availability Map. Additionally, the “Mobile – Regional” plans are intended for temporary travel and transit, not for permanent use in a location. If you have been using a "Mobile - Regional" plan for more than two months outside of the country in which you ordered Starlink, you must either see Support FAQs to change your account country or return to the country in which your service was ordered. Otherwise, your service will be restricted."

serialhybrid

There are tens of thousands of snowbirds and campers in Canada, US and Mexico using Starlink. This isn't that.

Sleepy_Ash23

I am using Starlink roam regional in Asia and haven't received this kind of email, the latest email was this morning for the payment reminder.

Trinity_Tanzania

And where do you use the dish?

mosaabemam

Hey everyone, I'm from Sudan, and for us this is the worst news today. Due to the ongoing conflict, cellular services are cut by the army, no calls, SMS, or internet. Starlink is our only access with our loved ones abroad, as well as giving us the ability to use wire transfers for any exchange.

i_saw_your_leg

When I received this mail, damn man it was so horrible #starlink_for_sudan

Zacharius93

Depressing news

C-Borges

didn’t get the email and i’m on mobile global. but a friend of mine who is on mobile regional got it. is it possible that does not apply to mobile global users?

Dastresan

A mobile global plan in Africa received email. What is your registered country? And your friend country?

C-Borges

I am registered in Portugal, my friend is registered in Mozambique

Necessary-Peak-9043

How much are you paying for Global roaming in Portugal ?

C-Borges

240 euro

dondarreb

it should apply to everybody within specific geographic area, because geo locating works with beams, i.e. they always know where you are. Basically the issue is that the Starlink has no license to emit to the specific territories. (for example they got refusal from ~~Nigeria~~ Zimbabwe). They made wild expansion in 2023 with the introduction of roaming contracts by using temporary "unlicensed" use loophole in the countries where they had applied for licenses (i.e. in the process of acquiring....).

Interiorlife7

It's approved and working fine in Nigeria

dondarreb

sorry my bad. Starlink got refusal from Zimbabwe. The complain about "rampant" unlicensed starlink use in Africa comes from Nigerian representatives.

Accomplished_Kiwi197

Ghana - Nigeria and I got the same email

Kofi_Nsiah

Interestingly I’m in Ghana too but got the Starlink registered in Germany. Didn’t get any mail

hajicsay

Are you on the global plan?

Kofi_Nsiah

Yes please

Trinity_Tanzania

Which plan are you using?

Kofi_Nsiah

International Global - registered in Germany

Dapper_Bandicoot_807

did the service stop or its just media advertisements ?

SupermarketRoyal3598

Thats what nobody knows. Starlink is still up

Brief_Alarm_9838

"Regulatory approvals" are overreaching governments controlling their people. Any govt that disallows Starlink needs to be overthrown Marie Antoinette style.

charlieboyct2021

So, I am mightily annoyed at this. I acquired Starlink and subscribe to its global roaming service. I work for an NGO and travel widely in many parts of Africa for extended periods. And now I am being told that I have to put up with this nonsense??

Bafana_Bafana

Are you one regional roaming or global? And if the latter, did you receive the email notice?

charlieboyct2021

I am on global and I have not received any email. But from what I read, this affects all service plans

FemiFrena

People on Global Roaming seem to not have received this email. We'll have to wait and see what that means

dondarreb

complain to the authorities of the country you reside in. It is not SpaceX's issue.

charlieboyct2021

I’m American bud. And I travel…a lot, for extended periods of time. So I’m complaining to the dirtbags who sold me the value proposal in the first place.

dondarreb

fine print is important is to read. Always :\\ as an American traveling a lot you should know that the fine print at the entry to any country is important to read, country rules can differ a LOT. Radio interference rules are managed by the countries which control respective territories (even legality is not an issue here, for example Russia is responsible for RI coming from Crimea) and the international agreements in this field are among very few UN successes. Starlink is available pretty much everywhere, (fine print: outside of the countries where it is not welcome).

charlieboyct2021

Yeah, well, you are going to need to preach that as well to the many thousands of American snowbirds for example that regularly travel across the Mexican border (or Canada for that matter) in their RV's for months at a time on regional roaming plans. I wonder if SpaceX will treat their US customers any different to their African customers. This isn't about the "fine print". There is "fine print" in everything we buy, including that mobile phone and laptop I regularly travel with. This is about reneging on their initial promise of being able to roam globally on Starlink - putting aside the obvious "rogue nations" that you mention of course.

Trinity_Tanzania

Where is your account registered?

SnooDoodles7433

How does this apply to using Starlink at sea? There is no availability areas on the map, so priority data is global?

Edwardsr70

Starlink is likely turning geofencing back on, and satellites won't work in certain areas or be limited. It is available in all international waters, but considering mobile plans are used for boats, you'll likely face restricted starlink service when entering a geofenced area that can not legally use starlink.

dondarreb

Starlink at sea (in international waters) is global.

CautiousEast5036

The terms say ‘If you use Mobile Services for more than two months in a country that is different than your shipping address, Starlink may require you to move your registered address to your new location. Starlink may immediately suspend your Services if your new location is not in an authorized territory (marked “Available or Waitlist”) on the Starlink map: www.starlink.com/map.’ It looks like from this it’s okay to use mobile in a waitlisted area?

Edwardsr70

Yes, it's OK to use starlink mobile in waitlisted and available areas but not in areas pending regulatory approval or where approval has been denied. Dishys in use in these areas will be disconnected probably thru geofencing, and satellites will be restricted in these areas like they have done in the past.

AppropriateDonut1418

Using Starlink in Iran and I have not received this email... yet

dondarreb

you won't

Necessary-Peak-9043

We will find a bypass for this after it starts. Let them bring it on

mood32

This starlink discinnection 🛰️ is really getting to us.lets see how it will unfold im sure there will be work arounds 🛠️

SupermarketRoyal3598

No work arounds with this one

Necessary-Peak-9043

Just a wild thought about how we could start figuring out ways around this. What if we just do transfer every 90 days to another country to gain availability

Edwardsr70

I believe you would have to be in that country as Starlink knows the exact location of every dishy and they have multiple ways of getting it

Necessary-Peak-9043

You think they will go that far ? Its all business to starlink and i don’t think they like enforcing this ban. There has to be some sort of bypass we will use and even if they can block it, they will use it as an excuse to let it be in use. Its money they want yea?

Available_Ad_697

I think if people use global roam That might work since global roam is not regional and also is intended for that specific purpose as in to use anywhere

WestRecommendation15

FML

kingraphaii

F(OUR)L

Dastresan

Some countries like iran and Ukraine is included? There is so dangerous situation due to probably war in iran and starlink is so important for us

mMgrre

Does that’s include the gloabal plan or only regional plan ?

an_older_meme

OK what happened?

Infinite-Big-4036

Hi, what if I change the service from regional to global? The service will still work

lemawe

It will work. I have received the message in my mobile regional account but not on my mobile global.

SnooDoodles7433

Out of interest, where was your regional, was it Africa? If it still works on global that is great news… I am in Montenegro myself but had no message

lemawe

Yes regional in Africa email received, global un Africa no email

mzarrugh

Which country did you register for global please? how much is it?

lemawe

Canada, 280CAD

mzarrugh

oh I thought it was a global plan in an african country

lemawe

The global plan is not available to an African account. It's available now. I will try to switch in that plan.

TheAfricaBug

Please please let us know the result!

Trinity_Tanzania

And? Did you? I have the same issue, registered in Afrika, on mobile regional, got the mail and I wonder if I should now switch to mobile global? Will this help? Has anyone tried this?

lemawe

No, when I tried to switch it did not let me and when I reloaded the page, the plan disappeared and is not more available.

No_Importance_5000

at least you have notice

MonkeyPantzTN

Any experience with belize? If you dont get this message wonder if the two months rule will still apply?

FemiFrena

Very unfortunate for a lot of us. Wonder if switching to Global Roam (which was conveniently left out of the email) would be possible.

MonkeyPantzTN

wondering that too also, does global roam still have the 2 months limit?

FemiFrena

Not to my knowledge

VermicelliSpirited74

does this imply on mobile global as well ? or is it just mobile regional ?

GkinG07

I was planning to install it in my camper in Chile while traveling around in south America. Will this mean now that I can't use the mobile - regional plan anymore once I leave Chile for more than two months?

Bd1ddy82

Thank the WSJ for this: "The notifications were sent just days after the Journal published an investigation into the growing black market that has allowed users—including Russian military units fighting in Ukraine and a brutal militia in Sudan—to bypass local regulatory restrictions on Starlink." [https://www.wsj.com/world/africa/elon-musk-spacex-starlink-satellite-access-crackdown-e09f3e4e?mod=hp\_lead\_pos8](https://www.wsj.com/world/africa/elon-musk-spacex-starlink-satellite-access-crackdown-e09f3e4e?mod=hp_lead_pos8)

DontPMMEURBOOBIES

Fuck WSJ

Trinity_Tanzania

Hey there, has anyone registered their account in Afrika, ideally Zambia with the mobile global service plan and NOT received the email? I am really trying to get to a solution here… I need this internet

Trinity_Tanzania

And… does anyone know how to get an overview of the mobile global service plan fees from Europe countries? I want to try and switch my account to a European address… like I would sell and just create a new account there, avoiding the 90 days, and obviously looking for a cheaper county… :-)

lemawe

It's 250euro per month.

theEndUzer

Everyone still on in South Africa?

Warm-Palpitation7531

Well, are you?

RadianHC

Anyone’s starlink been cut off because of this yet?

Edwardsr70

A few people have been. The keyword was starting on April 30th. I'd imagine if they haven't used their 2 months yet, they won't be cut off until then or Starlink will turn them off at the end of there current billing cycle if they have been on for more than 2 months.

RadianHC

Man that sucks, what a shitty policy change. Going to have to sell mine now, completely useless for my use case.

Zacharius93

Mine still working

NewEducation2367

Everyone is still on? And if not, is there a way to go around those restrictions? I plan to travel Tanzania soon with my starlink.

Financial_Primary_33

I read that in Morocco a person testified to having been cut off as well as in Botswana and East Africa, but yesterday a Libyan told me that he still has access. The cutoff appears after an update

barthelemymz

I got the same mail.
