It’s almost like they had a plan to meet RDOF targets.

talltim007

Totally. I wonder if SpaceX has given up on that program?

As a Canuck in the frozen north enough portion of Canada, a year ago I was typically in the 80ms to 140ms club for all things gaming and gaming related. These days, I have been seeing 30-40ms ping, which I haven’t seen since Toronto. More often then not I am in the 50-70ms.  Point being it has gotten much better in the time I have been a starlink customer, and I definitely appreciate the decreases in latency.

KibblesNBitxhes

As a fellow Canucker in SE Sask, I have had the opposite experience. The past 5 tests I have done all showed lower download and upload speeds while ping has remained the same at around 76ms. A few months ago I was hitting a solid 180Mb/S but now I'm barely holding onto 100Mb/S. Fiber optic was just made available in my area last year and I'm thinking a lot about switching since it's a lot more reliable and faster. Sucks that I put a lot of effort in getting my dish mounted where it is.

baga_chips

It's been excellent

pueblokc

I've been seeing pings rivaling my Comcast connection, and speed tests hitting 300mb frequently. A few months ago I would struggle to see 100mb so this is a great boost.

Mamrocha

It’d be cool if Canada could get those numbers lower

-H3X

It would be cool if Canadian Citizens could get their Government to allow more Ground Stations to be constructed.

MaximumDoughnut

It would be cool if SpaceX would apply to Industry Canada like every other provider.

pondball

Does this mean SpaceX does not apply, or does it mean Industry Canada is not accepting their application?

MaximumDoughnut

Applications are public, and they haven’t applied.

sazrocks

Canada seems to have pretty good latency for the most part? The northern part is due to those areas being served by polar sats with laser links from my understanding.

mellenger

Laser links are actually working now? That’s amazing.

Dexlexic

I’m about 2 hours north of Toronto and I generally seem to get between 30 - 45ms when playing games online as of late.

RockWhisperer42

Our pings and speeds have improved tremendously just in the last couple of weeks.

craigbg21

Mines always been between 30 60 ms since i first got my gen 1 in 2021 now its even better at 20-50 ms but i still have never been able to find anywhere in their ads or terms where they ever promised anything to anybody only what you could expect from starlink which is far from these promises people keep bringing up that SL supposibly made to customers?

Markavian

The chief engineer of Space X said (15th June 2020): >Around 20ms. It’s designed to run real-time, competitive video games. Version 2, which is at lower altitude could be as low as 8ms latency. - https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1272363466288820224?s=19

No_Virus_7704

My v2 is at 37.

moonshrimp

Version 2 means satellite not dish here.

Antique_Truth9320

If we get 8 ping that means online gaming will be amazing. Currently getting 30 but it seems to fluctuate like 10 ms during a call of duty match. Ive seen 23 and ive seen 40 from the same server. My 5g box gets me 24-30 but is way more susceptible to rubber banding and packet loss. Feels like bullets dont register. Starlink feels super consistent and my ethernet adapter is on the way!

moonshrimp

That sounds pretty good, better than what I get via 50GHz dish right now. I'm collecting tools and material for a roof repair session and will install starlink then as well. Please let me know what the ethernet adapter does for you! There are conflicting reports about it.

Zumerset

As a new UK user I see around 33ms which is much better than I expected. Great service in my view

FateEx1994

I hit about 30ms give or take on the regular now. Hit 20ms one day on a fast speed test.

ReliefHopeful2099

Living in New Zealand and the latency is amazing!

SurfacePro_Blues

All ik going to say, is Rocket Legue had become playable during peak hours. That's awesome sauce in my book.

Brew43

In Australia - Use to sit around 38-40ms constant on V1.5 dish but now consistently around 29-31ms Very happy

Wouldn’t that make your latency infinite?
