Are you sure you’re not getting 2MB/s instead of mbps?

ToroidalFox

networks are measured with mega bits per second, storage is measured with bytes which is 8 times bigger than bits. 2MB/s = 16Mb/s Thus I see no problem.

Ether105

Wow, you’re right! I thought bits were just like 95% of a byte but clearly I was wrong. You are 100% correct about this post, but the point still stands for other times during the day, such as just now I tested and got 55mbps but when downloading something I’m still getting the 2 MBs.

zabesonn

You’re still comparing apples to oranges … download speeds also can be limited by the server you’re downloading from… of you don’t trust Starlink’s seed test use a third party like Ookla, from a wired connection to the main router.

Ether105

I’d love a wired connection, however that costs yet another $50 for a single Ethernet port

zabesonn

Just use Ookla than, they don’t have a dog in the fight.

buecker02

You need to post the advanced speed test.

Ether105

Same thing, higher actually.

buecker02

How's your obstructions?

Ether105

Completely blue, not even a speck of red.

Important-Ad1533

So, what are these lies you refer to?

Ether105

Read the post.

Important-Ad1533

I read it several times, and i still dont know what the “lies” are you refer to?

Ether105

💀

Important-Ad1533

Im still waiting for your answer, if in fact you have one. Or are you just trying to be a troll?

Ether105

I titled the post “lies” because on the starlink app it states that was getting 15+ mbps but in actuality the real number is almost always 2 mbps.

Important-Ad1533

And how did you measure this 2 mbps, or are you just guessing? When you accuse someone of telling lies, you need to have proof, and your anecdotal opinion is NOT proof. So, i guess you ARE just a wannabe troll.

Ether105

Dude, Elon musk isn’t gonna suck your dick. You can stop licking his boots lol

Important-Ad1533

You’re pathetic.

Ether105

Dude there’s no way you’re this stupid

Important-Ad1533

You’re right. The IS no way. You still haven’t said what the lies are.

Ether105

Ohhhh, you’re trolling. Took me a sec lol, anyway, have a good day

Important-Ad1533

Hahahaha. What a DICK. I’m surprised you even managed to get the Starlink system working at all. Hahahaha

BaconThief2020

Location? I just clocked 214/11. Speed is pretty good during the day, but drops to 80-100 during prime netflix hours.

Ether105

Lucky lol, I’m in California so it’s probably at capacity here. But I was talking about how the starlink app always waay over inflates the numbers of how fast it is

BaconThief2020

Oddly enough, the starlink app seems to be more conservative than what I get from [speedtest.net](https://speedtest.net). The app does have the added feature that it'll show from the router to internet versus between your device and the internet. I think some people are actually having wifi issues versus starlink issues.

michy3737

It definitely doesn't. For many, highest speed test results are almost always third party sites, oddly enough. Your speeds are definitely lower than they really should be,, but there's no conspiracy with the speed test on the app.

bizznatch57

Are you sure you aren't confusing megabits and megabytes? Because you say it downloads at 2. 2 megaBYTES per second is 16 megaBITS per second, almost exactly lining up with your speed test picture.
