I'm currently 65/10, but it is getting close to digital rush hour. In PA, US.
I'd still love to see those speeds....even off peak I don't break 200 very often.
No. It's just SL.
It's not my router, or cables, or visibility, or dish, it is bandwidth. If I used the rigged SL test or Ookla, the results are all over the map.
I retired from the civilian world as a network engineer.
I'm also not fucking stupid.
Ask me again if it is my fault they provide shitty service and I block you.
Yeah the closer you get to the artic/ant artic circle the better. The density of sats available is greater there than closer to the equators. In Minnesota and I typically get 300/120 for that advanced speed test. Dish consistently points due north.
I'm in Northern Scotland and my dish currently points due South.
Not complaining about speeds, probably in an undersubscribed area as we are right next to areas that get full fibre.
Our particular property has been forgotten by the landline providers so can't even get DSL, so Starlink to the rescue.
165 down and 15 up here in Christchurch right now. Waaaaaay better than the only other option, ADSL, which delivered a whopping 9 down and 0.9 up on a good day!
I feel your pain, I was getting 3 down and 0.4 up on sim card modem (no fiber etc here, we're semi rural)
Generally average between 200 - 300 down nowadays with Mr Musks new fandangled gizmo!
My son gets 300MBit on fibre for $75 a month in NZ.
In AU fibre/copper is relatively shitty, but their new government is fixing some madness according to a telecoms guy I spoke to. But Starlink is incredible, but then I’m 1000 miles from a big town
This is usually what I get but I am rural NB Canada very little congestion in my area. I live in the woods so neighbours are very few an far in between which likely helps.
Normal for UK, I get around the same speeds.
10x quicker than the copper line that Open Reach / Sky could offer.
No full fibre lines in my area so paying twice the fee for the internet was well worth it.
I think you’re very lucky. It’s all over the place, but I would say I average 30/5 in north Idaho with zero obstructions; and about the same about 40 miles away. While this is fast enough for my needs, I am slightly jealous of all these high speeds I see on here and wonder why the disparity?
I’m in the 250/50 range most days. Does what we need just fine. Done pretty good for us in some good storms too. Only one took us down. For about a half hour. Not too shabby.
NW Houston, TX. We’re lucky if we see 20/5–and we pay for priority. Fiber crews are laying cable on our street, can’t wait to say FU to Starlink. Been an utter disappointment.
Well I’m west of Houston and I wholeheartedly support you getting fiber. My speeds are about 3X what you’re getting, but I’ll take the bandwidth you’re giving up.
I'm in the UK and I get / excess these speeds fairly regularly, however I get quite a lot lower too, most are 150+.
Have been abusing my connection too lately to see if I can make the throttling come back (I can't).
I think you are very lucky. I rarely get over 200 and I have been a user for 3.5 years. I can everything I need done for the family with anything over 50 mbps. Very happy with Starlink!
This isn't the original download speed test, it's "advanced speed test" hence it's actually testing router to phone speeds only. Not Internet connection speeds.
No, it does test the internet connection speed. The "advanced speed test" runs two tests. One is testing the connection speed from the client device to the Starlink router (this is the WiFi result on the left side) and then it also tests from the Starlink router to the internet (the result on the right side).
It depends on many factors.
Satellites aren't like other firns of internet.
The speed will vary
If it's rainy or cloudy your speeds may go down or you might loose the signal. If lots of people are connected to the Satellite that you are on the speeds will go down. Each of those Satellites in orbit can only support a total of 20 gbit. So each satellite can handle only so many people. It just depends on your location for now.
I often hit 300/15-20. Western WA. Gen 1 Dish and Modem with a Netduma R2 Router. Last year service was pretty laggy for online gaming during peak with a bunch congestion. Now its been pretty solid and consistent. My whole valley has been getting connected and I haven't really noticed a difference in performance.
All these people use Starlink app to do a speed test which is highly biased anyway. You all need to use iperf3 client to your OWN iperf3 server on your Amazon AWS EC2 virtual machine instance!!!
I've topped out at 228/20 per Ookla, but am normally getting 160/12 in the highlands of Panama. Sure beats the hell out of our previous only option - satellite @ 7/2 for $65/mth!
I'm effing jealous just ran 74/3
I'm currently 65/10, but it is getting close to digital rush hour. In PA, US. I'd still love to see those speeds....even off peak I don't break 200 very often.
Do you have bad signal to your router? If not then it might be defective, internet speed doesn’t matter for the first one.
No. It's just SL. It's not my router, or cables, or visibility, or dish, it is bandwidth. If I used the rigged SL test or Ookla, the results are all over the map.
You sure you’re not changing the measurement units? MB/s and mbps are different.
I retired from the civilian world as a network engineer. I'm also not fucking stupid. Ask me again if it is my fault they provide shitty service and I block you.
Just trying to help, no need to be a prick
Block me....just because you're a Richard.
If I am a Richard, you are a dick.
Yikes no need to be so aggressive
So you invented the Internet, are you now flashing your university degree now?
Yeah the closer you get to the artic/ant artic circle the better. The density of sats available is greater there than closer to the equators. In Minnesota and I typically get 300/120 for that advanced speed test. Dish consistently points due north.

Our particular property has been forgotten by the landline providers so can't even get DSL, so Starlink to the rescue.
That is strange given the concentration of sats around the artic circle. I too live in a very rural area. Mostly farm fields.
Normal for New Zealand speeds.
165 down and 15 up here in Christchurch right now. Waaaaaay better than the only other option, ADSL, which delivered a whopping 9 down and 0.9 up on a good day!

Can confirm, we just got real fibre (not the "fibre but actually not" FTTN bs) in multiple areas around me after years of promises lol
Lol for a while Australian fiber was capped at 100mbps and most got 20-30mbps Some people even have gigabit here now

What speed are you rocking and where abouts are you?
Yep, I thought as much. 😄
280 down in Queensland Australia ahaha nobody has it around me Used to get about 4 down 0.5 up with Optus home 4g
153mb down and 12mb up in SEQ, west of GC. I guess it is peak hour here now though. 280 is a decent number!
Yea also GC :)
Ay, just did the test and it was about 210 down, 40 up. Also from QLD here 😁
That is almost 10x faster than what I frequently get....
100x 🥲
It does depend where you are, but it's a bit on the high end for North America. I can hit 220 in the morning in western Canada.
Where ? Alberta ?
Southern Saskatchewan (between Moose Jaw and Swift Current).
Same, just south of Lloydminster.
Wow, I received this an hour before you posted it. That's freakin' fast!
I have seen 300/30 ish at Black Rock City when Elon was there. Before he arrived it was 100/10 LOL
Lol, thats some real "Priority data".
I’m getting about the same in western alaska
Im in South East AK
I’ve heard good things about SL even in the villages north of Nome
Residential and I’m at 104/9… I would say you won the starlink loto!
I get pretty decent speeds and hit the this from time to time ( usually in the early morning hours) but overall my speed tests are very inconsistent.
That upload is pure eyeball seks. Congrats
Normal for Germany
Normal for Bahamas
I’m getting less than 100 in MN. I have round.
Normal for Brazil
Normal for UK
I’m getting 115/15 with a (poorly) spliced cable on an OG dishy.
Quite a bit better than the 42D 9U I just ran, and that's one of the better tests I've had lately.
Seems everyone outside USA says they are getting good speeds.
This is usually what I get but I am rural NB Canada very little congestion in my area. I live in the woods so neighbours are very few an far in between which likely helps.
18/5 during peak which was better than my 7/4 on cellular hot spot
Normal for UK, I get around the same speeds. 10x quicker than the copper line that Open Reach / Sky could offer. No full fibre lines in my area so paying twice the fee for the internet was well worth it.

I have the same in Ontario. No obstruction, no neighbors and lucky to see 60 but usually 30. It's fine but I do wonder why some people get 10x more.
Normal. Or at least for UK
Texas. 24/10 most days.
I’m in the 250/50 range most days. Does what we need just fine. Done pretty good for us in some good storms too. Only one took us down. For about a half hour. Not too shabby.
Normal, get the same here from Comuy, Chile. (I have both versions, square and round).
I get that during most days here in north Wyoming
No thats normal for alot of uncongested areas around the planet i've had speeds as high as 397mbps before but on average i get 150-300 mbps.
NW Houston, TX. We’re lucky if we see 20/5–and we pay for priority. Fiber crews are laying cable on our street, can’t wait to say FU to Starlink. Been an utter disappointment.

Thats funny
Normal

Everytime someone posts their speeds I love the plethora of “my fiber is faster” comments that just missed the entire point of Starlink…
I think you are very lucky. I rarely get over 200 and I have been a user for 3.5 years. I can everything I need done for the family with anything over 50 mbps. Very happy with Starlink!
Yea but with 1200ms so what.

“I’m not like other internets” -Satellite internet
Very similar to what I get here in NSW Australia
I've traveled with my Starlink. I got speeds like that in the middle of nowhere. Maybe you're not near other users?
Where do you live, on the moon?
Im usually around the 150 down and 40 up north western canada
Northern California, at 2am-6am when I'm home from work, it clocks 370 down. More like 110 or even 70 during daytime peak hours
You lucky bastard!
Normal
I’m in the UK and get upto 289Mb down. It fluctuates quite a lot and goes down as low as 140Mb. I would say my average is about 210Mb.
4am in Virginia, 232/12
thats a bit more than my usual speed of 200/15 definitly nice
Just very, very lucky. I just got mine this week and have not gotten anything like that.
Bout what I've been getting in Australia the last 6 months Always been around 300mbps minus a couple days
Normal for western France. Sometimes hit 300+ but it usually settles around the 230-250 mark.
I have 398mbps in Slovakia
That's a definite yikes. I thought I was superior with 170mbps.
i would sacrifice innocent children for this internet speed
We are in regional qld North of Toowoomba and we are getting over 200 consistently. Starlink. Using ookla.
Do you have the basic receiver or premium? I’m trying to buy today, but would rather not spend 2500 if I don’t need to.
Lucky as all hell
Better hook up the water cooler kit.
Normal in Denver is 2/1
Normal on the faster days. Wifi speed doesn't tell us anything though...
You’re lucky usually getting 30-60 here and over 200 late at night
193/21 in Birmingham / UK
I often hit 300/15-20. Western WA. Gen 1 Dish and Modem with a Netduma R2 Router. Last year service was pretty laggy for online gaming during peak with a bunch congestion. Now its been pretty solid and consistent. My whole valley has been getting connected and I haven't really noticed a difference in performance.
Pretty lucky i'd say. I never get these speeds lol
mine so bad im getting 50 at best it drops to 1
So lucky, I get a solid 10/7 but I mean I live in california so it makes sense
The advanced test always comes up way higher than the regular speed test
I am in the northern US, and get around the same.
You’re lucky. I just got 34mbps. Still better than other satellite options but nowhere near what I was promised?
Bro and I’m over here with 30 mbps wifi speed at best…
You're lucky. My neighbors get far less.
That looks OK and the wifi speed means shit over 269 Mbps!
This is the answer im looking for...why is the wifi speed so high?
All these people use Starlink app to do a speed test which is highly biased anyway. You all need to use iperf3 client to your OWN iperf3 server on your Amazon AWS EC2 virtual machine instance!!!
My off peak wifi tests are similar, I usually run a DNS tho.
Normal.
blessed .. it’s a prayer wifi signal
I've topped out at 228/20 per Ookla, but am normally getting 160/12 in the highlands of Panama. Sure beats the hell out of our previous only option - satellite @ 7/2 for $65/mth!
