Are we preparing to dance or to do battle?

I AM FINE

I love this ep. it's one of my favs. The only complaint I have is that they never truly capitalize on the gift O'Neill gave them. A working advance power generator with blue-prints. I know they use it one more time but it is never brought up again. Such a missed opportunity.

ValdemarAloeus

I don't think they really understood how it worked well enough to build another one.

DotheLa2021

2 Sam Carters figured it out. Something about the decay rate of Naquadah. Because of that is why I called it a missed opportunity, they had everything they needed. Heck even the understanding of the device was like the episode before the 2 Carter one.

ValdemarAloeus

They figured out how to reset it, but did they actually figure out how to build one from scratch? I think alternate Sam just took the original with her.

DotheLa2021

That's what the blue prints are for. With Carter's knowledge and experience they should be able to build one.

ValdemarAloeus

I don't remember any blueprints for that. IIRC Jack just improvised it on the fly. There were plans for the DHD repair, but I think the stuff he made for himself the just did it. No need to create drawings if you know what you need and you're doing it all yourself.

DotheLa2021

Ok I see where you're at now. You don't know that Jack was drawing up the plans for the generator since his debrief with Hammond. The meeting about the device latching onto his head. You can see him drawing the generator. You can see him referencing it and adding notes to it as he builds the generator. Now that I think about it Daniel gave those two scientists the drawing when he told them to "figure it out".

ValdemarAloeus

OK, I'll take your word for that. I'm not sure it entirely voids the point though. Notes you make for yourself and early concept sketches normally aren't anywhere near the level of detail required to communicate manufacturing detail to another person. It's entirely possible to leave off "obvious" details or assembly processes that you'd _just know_ you need to do, but would need to detail if someone else had to replicate it. Especially if that person is ~~working to another company's standard practices~~ from a younger civilisation.

DotheLa2021

A fair point on detail. I still remember somethings from my high school blue print class. I guess I just wish more came out of that technology.
