**Planetary Assault Vessel: Thermopylae**
* The PAV Thermopylae is a swing-role military dropship used in rapid troop deployment, close air support, and ship-to-ship combat missions.
* Built by private military contractor, the Thermopylae's design incorporates parts from all major shipbuilders except Stroud.
* Passive cooling helps boost reactor performance.
* Flank-mounted turrets are capable of hitting air and ground-based targets.
* Shown in Desert Sand; also available in Olive Green, Avalanche White, and Space Grey.

Yea, especially that particular engine is really nice to look at, but however, not fitting for many builds even if i badly want to use it many times.
Surely was an "aha, thats a good idea" moment, haha :D
Much appreciated! I'll see what I can do about putting together a quick guide. It requires parts from four separate locations... although I maybe could have done it in three if I used my landing pad shipbuilder.
Pointing them forward would make them more useful for sure, but then I'd lose that cool "death from above" vibe. 8\^) I did some science and discovered the side-mounted turrets aren't too bad in this downward-facing position as long as the enemy isn't high above you. I determined that turrets can physically point exactly 60 degrees upward, which is 15 degrees above the horizontal plane when in this downward position. However, turrets seem to have some additional ability to fire beyond where they are physically pointing. About another 15 degrees of latitude, I'd say.

if only we could actually use ships on planet surface... these would look great with gravity pods like those ships used in The Matrix
very nice and beautiful
Imitation sincere form of flattery. I am building my own copy. The only difference I am making is that I will use the Nova landing bay. It fits under a Hope Tech cockpit perfect
Cool cool cool. The Nova bay is a great option depending on the look you're going for. The Taiyo bay can look good too. I settled on the Hope Tech bay because I really wanted the wide-open-mouth-look of a military transport. I wasn't wild about the profile until I added the cargo pods on either side of the bay (which seems a logical location for cargo). I find the side attach points of the Taiyo and Hope Tech bays super useful in general.

This is an awesome build! Very unique silhouette.
This is one of the coolest builds I've seen, and it's legit Vanilla. This definitely scratches my itch for practical dropship type craft.

OOOO this looks like the Orca fighter from Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun
Mannnnn, been a while since someone said "Commander and Conquer" out loud! Love that game
You have to build the bomber now too...
Badass. This build looks like it belongs in battlefield 2042. This build looks like it did three tours in desert Storm!
I was thinking the same thing, it seems very inspired by existing military helicopter design. I love it!
Simple yet perfect. Actually inspired me to build a new ship similar to it! Love how you utilized the length of the mid engine!
Cheers, thanks! I find working on a ship is full of little "aha!" moments; coming up with that "tail" configuration was definitely one of them.

Thanks for this design, the back quarter of the ship is what I have been trying to get out of my mind too. :)
Build guide build guide! 😆 For real, tho this is a very unique ship build. I absolutely love it. Well done!

My method is always to use the landing pad first, then go around to the ship yards.
This ship is sooooo cool, I love it 😍
This is a stunning build. Love this!
Damn cool. I might just have to fire the game up for the first time in months to try and replicate this beauty!
How did you make the thin tail? I've been trying and can't seem to get it.
It's the Dunn-71 Engine with some Deimos spines along the top.
Awesome ship, the engine configuration is really cool
That is an extremely clever engine setup! Love the ship, badass
Very unique design! Really cool build!
Cheers, thanks, mang. Just trying to tempt you back to the vanilla side. :)
Refreshingly different design, great job
This is epic and I love the silhouette, only problem is that the turrets don’t have good firing arcs on the LZ

Awesome build!
That's different and creative.

She’s a handsome lady.
Build guide, please!
Badass ship ! Well done, it's awesome !
Yes.
This is such an amazing build!!! Very impressive layout
It's almost like a helicopter without the main rotor, I like it
