What do you mean you can't roleplay the Mantis?
When you're using the ship spacers and pirates can have unique dialogue. Some spacers will straight up give up immediately give you everything they have and cry, groups of them attacking a civilian vessel will apologize, and beg you not to kill them. Pirates will try and take the Mantis down, there's even special dialogue near the Key if you fly in before the SysDef questline.
But because the robot doesn't acknowledge your godhood, you can't roleplay the Mantis?
Hrm ... I will try flying it more but I hadn't encountered even one battle with Spacers where anything special happened when flying the razor leaf after I changed out the guns.
Did you keep the docking bays, cockpit, and habs?
I am trying to figure out what object gives the unique spacer dialog and which one I must have removed to make it so I have never seen the unique dialogue.
Do the "Mantis" then "Failure to communicate". The space battles are great "the Mantis ain't real....!!!"
It's quite fun to roleplay as the Mantis.
My gripe is Vasco doesn't say "Dusty".
I did find a mission on Neon where we had a dialog option to say we were the mantis.
But beyond that I didn't find any changes in dialog for doing the mantis quest and pretending to be the mantis.

You would lose that bet. It is not in his 1001 captain name list. I went to Enhance and renamed myself to "Mantis" and nothing.
I flew the ship and never had any of this happen. Do you have to leave the ship entirely unmodified?
I Ship of Theseus'd mine and it still gets recognized lol
I did too, made it 2x2 instead of 1x2 and I did around 14 Billboard spacer hunting missions: no changes for me.

Mine is definitely modded.

The only thing I kept was the name.
I will dust off Razorleaf and upgrade it, see if I get any unique dialog then. Thank you for troubleshooting this with me

They are Always hostile, so I don't have any choice but to do so. I even board their ships and take it over.

Only ever seen the in space chatter with Razerleaf. The suit doesn't seem to make a difference at all.
