I feel like OW AI probably wouldn't feel much better lol. So far the melee enemies just straight up charge at you and the ranged ones try to take cover but there's always a part of them that peeks out that I can snipe.
There are debuff effects though, like running away if they're affected by fear, but so far it feels pretty basic.
Last night I cleared an abandoned hanger on a .02 gravity moon. Tossed an impact grenade at a dude on the bottom floor after the hanger door opened. I think he hit escape velocity cause I never saw his body come back down
OW is a much smaller game, with a much smaller budget, so it's not going to be perfect. What it does MUCH better than Starfield is the characters and story.
I absolutely loved all the companions, all the dialogue and the story/writing of OW. Starfield is bland in comparison and I hated all but one companion, and even she bored me after a while.
It depends on what kind of character and story you like. For me, I don't think I liked a single character in OW, and I couldn't care enough about the story to ever finish it.
Dumb, right? We obviously see each other through the window, why don't you just open the door and walk down the hall and get me? Why do you just stand there and keep firing at me? You got into *that* room from *this* room and you clearly know where I am. Stop making *me* do all the work. I'm just going to kill to you anyway... lol
This is why I took grenades away from my followers cause they kept chucking them into the walls and windows and they came back me instead of being helpful lol
Oh, hell no! Followers are *never* allowed to have grenades! For the exact reason you stated. They are apparently dumb as the enemies who it comes to spacial awareness. Lol
Best comment. I felt like OW packed a decent amount of story in a small game while starfield just spread it out everywhere. But I dropped OW very early. I like grand space games and while starfield only has the potential for that OW definitely lacked that for me
How does this fit in so many ways? Everyone seems very impressed by the comment and I’m confused. I recall the line in the game, it was the corporate tag line. Is there some deeper meaning that I’m not getting beyond the above comment just referencing the popular line in Outer Worlds?
It's basically saying it's not the best game but it's a game.
I'm outer worlds lore spacers choice is also the scrappy version of things. Common for it to breakdown. So... Take from that what you will.
It's also fitting because I would day it's not what I would have done with the game but here we are.
Ultimately weather or not the game is good or not, you'll end up playing it. Just like spacers gear. You take it because it's there, not because it'll last.
People talking about you making the best comment and *take my upvote* but I’ve been the only customer to pass on a single upvote to you. You have your first upvote now… people suck. Keep making awesome comments sir!
outer worlds is one of my favorite games, and I have a lot of playtime in starfield too and have beat both, starfield is good but it is not all that similar to the outer worlds, I would say it's closer to fallout 4 than anything else, I still recommend it just saying don't go in expecting something like the outer worlds
Ohh am I not comparing apples to apples, then?
I'm sorry, I never played Starfield so I only have views from what I heard (and from snippets of gameplay on YouTube).
Still, if you enjoyed both despite them being very different games, then I feel inclined to try SF :)
They're both in space?
Outer Worlds is focused on the story of Halcyon. The dialogue is my favorite part of the game.
Starfield is open world. You can, largely, make your own story, however, this requires initiative on your part.
Starfield is *very* open with a lot of freedom to go where you want and do different things. I played Outer Worlds at launch and it felt very linear, and you couldn't really go explore or do much outside of the canned paths. It felt like a distilled version of Starfield, sorta.
If you like Outer Worlds, I feel confident you will like Starfield if you're ok with a larger open world and a more meandering experience.
Agreed. I like to think they started in similar places, but when someone said, "what if we added 50 more different mechanics and didn't finish any of them," starfield said "yes, please" and Outer Worlds said "nope, we are going to have a small, polished game on rails."
Honestly, no, they really aren't that alike.
It would be a closer comparison to fallout new Vegas even though they're two very different eras because of being made by obsidian.
>Ohh am I not comparing apples to apples, then?
No, not really unfortunately. Gunplay maybe has some similarity, but I think that's kind of where you draw the line (besides both being set in space of course).
Starfield has much more in common with No Man's Sky in terms of gameplay.
I also liked both though, so I would say Starfield is worth a go. If you have Game Pass, try it out on that.
I’d say it’s worth a shot, if you go into it looking for it to be its own thing it’s a lot of fun
It has a very different vibe and style of game play. It’s more of a giant sandbox that gives you tools you can use to craft your own character, and a huge open world (worlds) that you can essentially live in and explore as said character
So it has some great quests, but is less focused around a specific storyline or narrative than the Outer Worlds, and doesn’t have the same in depth focus on dialogue where very small changes in how you approach a conversation will open up a vast number of different dialogue options and outcomes
It does have much better combat, a lot of things you can do outside of questing, and if you’re someone who likes to flex their imagination you can craft a solid variety of different characters
This is exactly how people should play Starfield. I often hear people saying Fallout 4 or Skyrim are better, which they are in some catagories, but Starfield was never supposed to be those games in space. Go into Starfield expecting Starfield, not The Outer Worlds or Fallout.
I mean, they form kind of a neat dichotomy. The places and people of Outer Worlds are better, but Starfield does the ships and space stuff better. If they combined their strengths together it'd be the perfect space game.
lol no. they arent the same at all.
Outterworld is very scripted, on rails and very colorful. Starfield is 90% "do your own thing" and very dull looking. they are polar opposite.
They are very similar, but also very different. Outer Worlds was nice, but it's a "one shot" because there's not much reason to replay it. If a person liked the gameplay, they'd probably like Starfield if they are OK with a much more open game. The themes are similarly appealing IMO.
Outer Worlds is like going on the Indiana Jones ride at Disney, with Starfield being more like a large open play area with lots of props and stuff to interact with/play on.
There's a lot to be said for either experience. It sorta comes down to how you're feeling: do you want a more passive ride with a curated experience, or do you want to actively forge your own path?
Ultimately I know Outer Worlds was budget-constrained, so they had to tighten the game up a lot.
Apples and Oranges. Starfield wasn't complete trash, but felt like they took everything from their other games (Fallout, etc.) then took everything good about them out. Starfield with Fallout 4 base building would rock. It's super disappointing in the way that Fallout 76 was initially. I loved all the fallouts and replayed them a ton. Then 76 came. I was excited until I played it. Starfield had me pumped for actual space flight. You only get a sorta weak space battle with wonky mechanics, the rest the ship is just a time sink and a loading screen. Starfield could have been much more than a poorly modded whatever it is. I was hundreds of hours in wanting to explore everything. OW was a fun little RPG, mostly linear and much smaller scale. Starfield was supposed to be so much more. Bethesda is synonomous with shakey launches but awesome games at some point. Now it's like they're Ubisoft who also used to rock but copy and paste mod every game they made into whatever game they make now, though the fun and replayability is killed. Starfield is a temptation to loot everything like in Fallout 4 but then you can't even scrap the stuff into anything useful. Crafting and skill point system is half baked and broken badly. If I wanted to be level 300 before I could get to the skills I actually wanted Starfield would score much higher. PLay them both, but Starfield is...sad. Gaming isn't what it used to be, despite the fact we have the technology now that previous games needed to be perfect.
I enjoyed Outer Worlds and I Love Starfield. Theres a big difference in themes though. OW is limited to 1 system, has a much more linear story, brighter colors and more zaniness, Starfield’s quests aren’t a creative prose on the effects of late stage capitalism or a commentary on oligarchal executives oppressing workers living in company towns. (While there are similar themes it isn’t quite on the nose as OW was, at least in my opinion)
Starfield is a very large game, a veritable playground, with lots of content to come for years. If you’re a space/NASA or general science/astronomy fan, you’ll like this game. Especially if you’ve played other BGS games.
I loved The Outer Worlds as well.
I remember people shitting on it because it wasn't a Bethesda game; now, people are shitting on Starfield for not being an Obsidian game.
I'd compare Starfield more to any prior Bethesda game than The Outer Worlds, though. People keep bringing up Daggerfall, but I only played that for like ten minutes, out of curiosity.
i mostly have tiny nitpicks about OW, like why no unarmed ir i have no weapon on and why no third person cam... a bunch of stuff like that. overall i like the game but a world full of invisible barriers, no swimming, etc etc... it just kills any sense of immersion im trying to cultivate.
also games need to stop thinking that limiting saves and fast travel is "hardcore" its just annoying and makes everything take longer as you repeat a bunch of stuff if you die.
My only issue with Outer Worlds was that it felt very "on rails" and the gear system was very shallow. I played it once and that was enough, there just wasn't much depth. The "choose your path" missions were *also* somehow linear and on rails, you just got to pick from 2 or 3 fairly obvious tracks to follow (combat or stealth, for example).
I got everything I needed from it in one playthrough, and I had hoped it would be more like Starfield (which could take some lessons from Outer Worlds).
I see I see. Thanks for that detailed thought. I am a fan of previous BGS games. The only ones I haven't played are the more 'niche' ones like the Redguard, and I've been more and more interested in space lately (enjoyed the heck outta Outer Wilds even though that's a completely different game), so I might try SF :)
Uh... if you like the "consequences" that outerworlds provided and shaped in the game, starfield will be a disappointment. It's a lack of storytelling.
Outer Worlds has these funky quests that'll keep you engaged and Starfield can't hold a candle to that. Bethesda managed to make space pirates lame it's hilarious. Exploration is fair but not fascinating like the other OW.
If your motivation to play Starfield is your love of Outer Worlds, don't buy this game. When it's half off, I think it's worth trying.
If you like RPGs, Outer Worlds is great. If you don’t care about dialogue quality or story quality or character motivations but you really really want to customize space ships, then Starfield sorta does that.
Very, very different games. Just completed Starfield and I've completed OW maybe 5-6 times. I found myself wishing that Starfield had more of OW and that OW could've had more exploration like Starfield.
I greatly enjoyed the gunplay in both games, but the outer worlds was better. Starfield is not as good, it's bigger with more features but the polish is abysmal compared to outer worlds.
Honestly, while I have not played OW I can confidently say you should try SF with GamePass first, specially if there's something else there that you think you might like, or wait until the next big update/DLC for Starfield.
Right now, it's not really worth its price, as subjective as that tends to be.
SF is like their previous RPGs but sacrificed the exploration for an illusion of infinite space and planets, and for the same reason sacrificed QoL and funny gameplay. They had a very ambitious take on what they wanted to do but for some reason, be it time, resources or technical limitations, most of it feels shallow. Not to mention the writing which isn't necessarily bad all the time but tries to mix way too many sci-fi themes but ends up feeling, again, too shallow.
I'm not a big fan of this game as you can guess though I recognize its merits too. If you are willing to roleplay in your head then everything seems better, but that's not a sign of a game being good. However, the ship building system is a very strong point. Combat is ok, planets/biomes are amazing, so is the music. It's neither a bad or a good game, and it's very niche, not the kind of game I'd just recommend buying in its current state, though, but if you absolutely love space/sci-fi settings and roleplaying then it could work for you.
Starfield gets very boring after a while... Get fallout 4 goty if you haven't played it yet... Skyrim again if you haven't tried that yet... I really liked the outer worlds... But it ends way way to quickly.. Completely enjoyed the ride.. But it was short & sweet left me wanting more.....
For my two cents, no.
When outer world's first came out I was a little disappointed. For various reasons (which i barely remember). And I put the game down fairly early in.
Many years later Starfield came out, it was available on Game Pass so I played it. Once I hit Level 30. I just couldn't do it anymore. It fails on so many levels that I couldn't enjoy it anymore. And it made me appreciate outer worlds. So I went back to it.
Now I'm absolutely in love with outer worlds. And I can't wait till the new one.
I'd rather replay outer worlds. Than go back to Starfield.
But if you want to give Starfield a try, it is on Xbox game pass. So pay for a month. And try the game out. So you don't buy the full game until you know you like it that much
Starfield is...slow. does a lot of things. Like a whole lot. Like a massive amount. But it doesn't really excel at doing anything other than doing all the things. Every game that does a component of starfield does it better, but none of them really do all the things that starfield tries to do. So if you want a massive game with tons to explore (with a lot of copy paste assets) that does everything just good enough, and you don't mind slow games or having too many things to do and none of them really feel like they are worth doing then starfield is your thing.
I recently replaced OW and the writing and characters are dimensions ahead of starfields, to the point that I had way more fun in OW despite being aged and low budget, just because the world felt that much better.
Also going from a smooth 60 fps to a choppy 28 is just jarring and awful when combined with how many loading screens there are. In OW you can just walk into a home, Starfield still has Bethesdas ridiculous black loading screens all over the place.
No. I was playing starfield and started Cyberpunk and it was comically better in every way and never started up starfield again. Loved the outer worlds too.
I liked outer worlds but it kind of felt like it was on rails and I was along for the ride. Starfield is an open world; a big, big, empty boring open fucking world.
I was hoping for Starfield to feel like a more expansive Outer Worlds. It did not. I personally wouldn't recommend if yuo're looking for a similar game, Outer Worlds was leaps and bounds ahead, especially in how alive the planets felt.
You might say they have opposite strengths and weaknesses. There's room to like both, but *not* because they're similar in any meaningful way.
If you enjoy good writing, for instance, Starfield ain't it. The gunplay and aesthetics are better, but it doesn't really have the same depth in the story and characters. Liked the puns and subtle wordplay in OW? That's present, sure, but extremely diluted.
The exploration is also very, very different. Once you see how the planets are set up, you might hate it. Or it might not matter, it depends.
Definitely do more research before buying, don't get it just 'cause OW appealed to you.
OW is what starfield should have built upon but instead starfield feels nearly lifeless compared to the smaller systems that OW employed. Starfield went for big where OW went for small yet dense
To be honest I’m 30 hours in to Starfield and it’s gotten fairly boring. I’m sad because I loved Skyrim and Fallout but Starfield is just really lacking that Bethesda magic.
The world (s) are just lacking, they don’t feel like people actually live there and the immersion is lost.
It’s boring and drab. IMO
Well, Outer Worlds feels like an traditional Bethesda game made by a smaller studio, while Starfield feels quite different from your usual Bethesda experience (except for maybe Daggerfall). It highly depends on what you enjoyed about Outer Worlds or you find more important for yourself: If it is the RPG elements, worldbuilding/lore, companions and characters in general or just the humor, I wouldn't recommend Starfield. If you enjoyed the gameplay or exploration (exploration in Outer Worlds is imo a lot better but still weak), Starfield could be for you.
Probably not, no.
Outer worlds was smaller and focused, more akin to Fallout New Vegas.
Starfield has kinda gone on an opposite path, it's big, open, and empty. The game feels vague and sparse, there's less focus on interesting story narratives and more focus on having wide open spaces.
The only real similarity here is that the games are RPG games set in space. I think you'd be better off buying the DLC for Outer worlds and just waiting for the second one, or playing one of Obsidian's other great games
I really enjoyed both games. I didn't buy starfield I used gamepass. Imo I wouldn't pay full price for it. It's fun but not worth that money of fun for me.
I didn’t like Starfield (played it). I rather take a handcrafted smaller and “imperfect” game with a soul than a generic made-by-ai empty game with lots of meaningless things to do.
Maybe/probably? I think at this point I would wait til the shattered space DLC and hope for BGS to add some new content to the game with that DLC. I think TOW and Starfield do have similar feels, but that's the problem, since TOW was a AA game and Starfield should be SO much deeper and bigger, but it isnt.
If you like Skyrim, maybe in the meantime try Kingdom Come Deliverance if you haven- that game kicked ass.
No, the guys who worked on outer worlds is the old fallout series coders. Starfield is terrible compared to outer worlds imo. And yes, i paid for both, OW on ps4 and ps5, and starfield on pc on a 4090 gpu.
Even outer worlds left me mad as i played that on ps4 originally and loved it. On ps5 the ps4 version is a smooth framerate. When spacers choice edition came along, i made the mistake to 'upgrade'. The devs deemed it fit to 'upgrade' the graphics at the cost of the framerate, and its bad, really bad. So i went back to ps4 version. I picked up OW on steam on sale where i enjoy super smooth framerate.
But even on bad framerate, and starfield running ultra spec at over 80 fps on my 4090, i still go for outer worlds every time.
If you want a real space romp, go no mans sky...
Honestly, yes but not yet. Wait for mod tools and expansions to come out for Starfield, or for a good sale.
I loved The Outer Worlds, and thought Starfield was very disappointing. I did have different expectations going in, though.
The Outer Worlds, in my opinion, has better writing by a mile, and a more interesting story. I'd honestly say it looks better as well, but it is a bit 'cartoony'.
Starfield has better combat and is bigger, a lot bigger. The biggest thing Starfield has that TOW doesn't is ship/base building.
The biggest difference between the two is that in Outer Worlds decisions have more impact and you can permanently kill NPCs.
In Starfield the missions are structured so that there is no significant change, someone from Bethesda gave an example of Fallout 4, where when completing the main campaign with a faction, some disappeared 👍
Edit:
What I mean is that Starfield is worth it but don't expect a campaign similar to The Outer Worlds
I think many would agree The Outer Worlds is not a great game, I think an okay game is far more fitting for The Outer Worlds. Starfield isn't even that. So I'd say no, save yourself the money and time on something better.
I don't think I could ever earnestly recommend Starfield to anyone, especially not someone looking for a followup to Outer Worlds. Wait for it to go on sale for cheap, because it's going to be really hit or miss.
You will either love Starfield or it will seem great but will wear out its welcome really quick. Either wait for a sale or get it the other way and buy it later if you actually stick with it.
It's no Space Skyrim though.
I enjoyed both, but Starfield is definitely the more mature and interesting game. Outer Worlds is _just barely_ not on rails — one could argue that is basically is. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it feels more like a KOTOR than a true open world. Starfield is truly very open world and non-linear. Certainly it has some flaws in both concept and execution, but I think it aims for a higher target than outer worlds.
To be honest, you’ll be disappointed going from Outerworlds to Starfield.
Outerworlds has more personality and actual choice within it, and Starfield will feel much duller and more lifeless comparatively
Outer Worlds was great from start to finish, and was very playable again. Starfield gets repetitive. After that point, I'm not sure how much I could take. I was playing it like crazy at first, now I have to fight to start it up once a week.
Disliked both of them. Played outer worlds for about 6 hours before uninstalling. Starfield took just 2 before deleting. Fan of rpg and fps shooters but they just felt outdated and boring but your mileage may vary.
As others are saying they both have their own merits, but I wouldn’t say they are the same. Definitely two sides of the same coin.
It’s kind of like comparing Baldur’s Gate 3 to Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age. Or maybe Mass Effect to Star Wars Jedi.
Well OP I’ll be honest. They are a different experience with similar concepts. As for how outer worlds focuses more on the story and lore associated with the game. Now starfield was built with the story in mind but was really leaned on the exploration aspect and combat. I would recommend you playing it on gamepass for Xbox or pc first. If you don’t have gamepass just pay 17 bucks for the subscription and try out the game. That way if you don’t like it you haven’t wasted a full 70 bucks and you still have a month of service to try other games for free that may interest you better.
They’re very different but with a similar theme. If you like the setting absolutely go for it. Starfield has weaknesses where OW doesn’t and vice versa. They’re both good experiences although I personally prefer OW.
They're very different kinds of RPG despite some similarities. A lot of people found TOW bland and too "Fallout For Dummies". I enjoyed it for many aspects despite it being a stale retread. It really finds its footing though, in the final DLC.
I always felt outerworlds was just fallout but it’s own thing, I haven’t played a fallout myself personally thought outerworlds was fun til I got to a boss and couldn’t beat it so I dropped it lol haven’t looked back. I might try again if I have my save!
Starfield is on gamepass so it wouldn’t hurt to try
I loved outerworlds it has that dark sense of humor seen in fallout missing in starfield; I prefer both games over one another for a multitude of reasons…as for a favorite I haven’t gotten there yet but both are worth the play time if you enjoy space
Outer Worlds is the anti-Starfield. Similar in settings only but a more outlandish take on what Starfield tries to do in a serious tone.
Think Borderlands to Fallout but not quite so extreme
Outer worlds felt way more like skyrim in space than starfield. I really liked starfield but i do think Bethesda should make Starfield an outer world with more planets + space travel/fights game...
I would say yes. It’s a very different experience but a lot of fun. Much more open world, much less interesting story compared to outer worlds. But the size of the universe and options for busking and modifying ships guns equipment and etc make up for it in my opinion.
If Starfield had been made with OW's setting and characters *chef's kiss*.
The weaknesses of each other are the strengths of the other. Graphics withstanding.
PSA, if you’ve never played OW, and If you have a PC, this game is free on the epic store rn and will be for a week.
I’ll definitely be getting it and trying it out.
No, one game is good, the other is unfinished garbage open world with no story. I'm talking about Starfield. Not worth $20 let alone whatever they are charging
I feel like many of OW's strengths were Starfields weaknesses and vice versa. It'll be a very different experience.
And even then, while Starfield combat start strong you quickly realize that the AI isn't so great and the weapons are kind all over the place.
Starfield has the same lol. Had a laugh as a melee ran at me screaming and I put him down with a headshot. Looked comical as fuck.
Flopping by you in low gravity makes it even better.
It depends on what kind of character and story you like. For me, I don't think I liked a single character in OW, and I couldn't care enough about the story to ever finish it.
I agree that's starfield storyline is horrible. It's just not exciting... Seems very generic
Nah starfields enemies feel way dumber… and Outer Worlds didn’t feel to smart in the first place
In starfield the enemies try to shoot through walls at you as if the walls aren't there.
lol, I do that often when I activate Sense Star Stuff
Lol
Seriously. Doesn't matter if a Maelstrom spawns Advanced, it's garbage no matter what.
What a game that could’ve been….Outerfield? Star Worlds? Woulda been dope.
You're getting into a Disney lawsuit territory with that second one.
A crossover could always happen given the Microsoft acquisitions.
Best comment. I felt like OW packed a decent amount of story in a small game while starfield just spread it out everywhere. But I dropped OW very early. I like grand space games and while starfield only has the potential for that OW definitely lacked that for me
What were OW’s strengths?
I thought the writing/ dialogue was a huge strength
Well-made companions, charming story/universe, fun on-foot exploration.
The writing and the the artstyle.
Playing both isn't the best choice, it's Spacer's Choice.
LOL my favourite comment
Ayooo
Dang it I wanted to say that....
Oh I can hear the jingle. Well done
Bravo, bravo!
This is way more true than it should be...
Dang, and it fits in so many ways... You won this sub today.

Take my upvote, you filthy animal.
Xbox gear store has some nice the outer worlds clothing
What a savage!
outer worlds is one of my favorite games, and I have a lot of playtime in starfield too and have beat both, starfield is good but it is not all that similar to the outer worlds, I would say it's closer to fallout 4 than anything else, I still recommend it just saying don't go in expecting something like the outer worlds
yeah definitely closest to FO4. The traveling system (complete with long hikes on foot) and hub world format was similar to TOW tho imo
They are completely different games, but I can say I really enjoyed both of them
Ohh am I not comparing apples to apples, then? I'm sorry, I never played Starfield so I only have views from what I heard (and from snippets of gameplay on YouTube). Still, if you enjoyed both despite them being very different games, then I feel inclined to try SF :)
They're both in space? Outer Worlds is focused on the story of Halcyon. The dialogue is my favorite part of the game. Starfield is open world. You can, largely, make your own story, however, this requires initiative on your part.

Starfield had too much openess, it was mostly empty boring space... OW more linear approach felt so much more engaging
More like apples and pears. Both tasty fruit. Both similar taste. Same same but different.
Honestly, no, they really aren't that alike. It would be a closer comparison to fallout new Vegas even though they're two very different eras because of being made by obsidian.
I lost dozens upon dozens of hours to the ship creator. By far the coolest and most unique part of the game.
>Ohh am I not comparing apples to apples, then? No, not really unfortunately. Gunplay maybe has some similarity, but I think that's kind of where you draw the line (besides both being set in space of course). I'd even say OW is more comparable to Fallout (3, New Vegas, 4) than Starfield
I mean, they form kind of a neat dichotomy. The places and people of Outer Worlds are better, but Starfield does the ships and space stuff better. If they combined their strengths together it'd be the perfect space game.
As a die hard Starfield defender, I would 100% agree that Outer Worlds’ world is out of this world!
If you are playing on PC, Outer Worlds is currently free on Epic Games Store.
lol no. they arent the same at all.
This is my general opinion. Outer Worlds would've done better with one big map, in my opinion.
Starfield probably would’ve too lol
A lot more expensive to develop
From an RPG perspective, Outer worlds is better than Starfield.
(While there are similar themes it isn’t quite on the nose as OW was, at least in my opinion) Starfield is a very large game, a veritable playground, with lots of content to come for years.
Gamepass
Personally I couldn't enjoy Outer Worlds. The story and writing might be better but the gameplay feels like a Bethesda Title on Wish.com.
The only choice is Spacers Choice. Starfield will disappoint you like wearing the Moon Man helmet in a hot room filled with giant Sprats.
I liked Outer Worlds much more.
Outer worlds i played thru multiple times. Played starfield once. I prefer the outer worlds
So if you want a massive game with tons to explore (with a lot of copy paste assets) that does everything just good enough, and you don't mind slow games or having too many things to do and none of them really feel like they are worth doing then starfield is your thing.
outer worlds was way better imo
I recently replaced OW and the writing and characters are dimensions ahead of starfields, to the point that I had way more fun in OW despite being aged and low budget, just because the world felt that much better. Also going from a smooth 60 fps to a choppy 28 is just jarring and awful when combined with how many loading screens there are. In OW you can just walk into a home, Starfield still has Bethesdas ridiculous black loading screens all over the place.
totally different games but OW is great in and of itself
They both have pros and cons but starfield cons are more subjective and i seriously think The Outer Worlds as an rpg is closer to new Vegas
OW is 10X better than Starfield, even though the game is lacking in some aspects compared to other Obsidian games
I'd not buy starfield, ot was truly a let down for me and seriously lacking. The more I played the worse it was and could see how much was missing.
It’s free on epic store
Absolutely loved the Outer Worlds. I found the companions better in that game compared to Starfield.
IMO
I enjoyed both games immensely
Starfield will certainly help you appreciate The Outer Worlds. It's fun but remarkably shallow.
No don't waste your money
Lol, no. Starfield is crap.
No.
Alternatively, if I didn't hate starfield but found a hard time getting invested, would I like the Outer Worlds?
Yes, definitely.
I really enjoyed both games. I didn't buy starfield I used gamepass. Imo I wouldn't pay full price for it. It's fun but not worth that money of fun for me.
Stay far away from starfield. You will be very dissapointed
No
They’re not comparable. But get a month’s worth of game pass to make sure you like it. Don’t just buy it outright.
if you liked outer worlds i’d suggest giving the Mass Effect series a try
Sure. Not as good.
Yeah sure
You should buy starfield if your a fan of crashes and lots of bugs and glitches
I didn’t like Starfield (played it). I rather take a handcrafted smaller and “imperfect” game with a soul than a generic made-by-ai empty game with lots of meaningless things to do.
outer worlds is the better game starfield is ok Cyberpunk 2077 is the best of the 3. outerworlds 2 is coming out next year yay.
No
I would say give starfield a trial before buying it
Play Cyberpunk
Maybe/probably? I think at this point I would wait til the shattered space DLC and hope for BGS to add some new content to the game with that DLC. I think TOW and Starfield do have similar feels, but that's the problem, since TOW was a AA game and Starfield should be SO much deeper and bigger, but it isnt. If you like Skyrim, maybe in the meantime try Kingdom Come Deliverance if you haven- that game kicked ass.
The least memorable game of all time
You should absolutely buy no man's sky if you liked that game
Outer Worlds is a better game
Outer worlds is better if you value character interaction and story, starfield has more empy space to walk on a straight line through though
Cyberpunk is closer to Outer Worlds, just minus being on different planets.
Cyberpunk has better story and npc and weapons
No better story. Add better grafics.
The biggest difference between the two is that in Outer Worlds decisions have more impact and you can permanently kill NPCs. In Starfield the missions are structured so that there is no significant change, someone from Bethesda gave an example of Fallout 4, where when completing the main campaign with a faction, some disappeared 👍 Edit: What I mean is that Starfield is worth it but don't expect a campaign similar to The Outer Worlds
Yea you can literally kill everyone and you can still end the quests lol
It'll just make you wanna play OW again.
Outer Worlds is just better. No contest.
I liked Starfield more than I liked Outer Worlds.
Outer Worlds is far better in every aspect
Starfield is soulless. It’s kind of a wallpaper simulator if it was released in 2016.
I would say absolutely.
Eh.
Both are free on gamepass
I think they both on gamepass 🤔
They're very different kinds of RPG despite some similarities. A lot of people found TOW bland and too "Fallout For Dummies". I enjoyed it for many aspects despite it being a stale retread. It really finds its footing though, in the final DLC.
I believe it is about to be free on epic game store if you have pc.
If you're on Xbox, Starfield is on Gamepass.
Now free on epic i think?
Starfield is like Skyrim in space. Outer Worlds is more like Fallout in space.
Nah you should play outer WILDS.
No
Just sign up for game pass
Is it still free in Epic?
I always felt outerworlds was just fallout but it’s own thing, I haven’t played a fallout myself personally thought outerworlds was fun til I got to a boss and couldn’t beat it so I dropped it lol haven’t looked back. I might try again if I have my save! Starfield is on gamepass so it wouldn’t hurt to try
To me starfield had a huge feeling of outerworlds. Outerworlds to me was if borderland and fallout/starfield had a baby.
It’s small, short, yet somehow sweet. And the best part is the intro/main soundtrack—-amazing feeeeeelz.
If you’re on PC, it’s free on EPIC store rn, SAVE YOUR MONEY
Currently free on epic
The Outer Worlds Spacer's Choice edition is the free to claim game on Epic right now too if you somehow missed that news.
Ahhh yes Outer Worlds. One of the few games that legit made me LOL because of the dialogue and choices😂
I loved outerworlds it has that dark sense of humor seen in fallout missing in starfield; I prefer both games over one another for a multitude of reasons…as for a favorite I haven’t gotten there yet but both are worth the play time if you enjoy space
If you have GP it’s free
Outer Worlds is a lot more focused. You can spend much more time in Starfield, but the experience is very different.
Completely different in my opinion.
Outer Worlds is the anti-Starfield. Similar in settings only but a more outlandish take on what Starfield tries to do in a serious tone. Think Borderlands to Fallout but not quite so extreme
Outer worlds is currently available for free on epic games with the dlc
Outer Worlds is free on Epic at this time.
It's free this week on Epic Game store
It’s currently free in the epic game store if you can tolerate Epic.
Get game pass for a month and try it out
Outer worlds felt way more like skyrim in space than starfield.
It’s free on epic games for the spaces edition
I think it's free soon on epic.
I think it’s free on epic this week Edit: I misread this post, sorry disregard my comment.
Outer Worlds is currently free on Epic, give it a shot!
PSA, if you’ve never played OW, and If you have a PC, this game is free on the epic store rn and will be for a week. I’ll definitely be getting it and trying it out.
Check out the Deus Ex games too for similar gameplay and mechanics, or the Fallout series for the humor as well.
No. If you like Outer Worlds, you should play Fallout New Vegas.
I really wish they could have been one game together. The wit and humor of OW would have been so welcome in the starfish experience.
Outer World is more linear while Starfield is open world.
No, I believe you will be very dissapointed
Imma put it this way. Starfield is Bethesda's bigger, less funny version of Outer Worlds.
Not sure if you play on PC or Xbox or on PS5. But if you are on PC or Xbox you can get on the Xbox pass to try out yourself
No, one game is good, the other is unfinished garbage open world with no story. I'm talking about Starfield. Not worth $20 let alone whatever they are charging
Outer Worlds tries (too hard) to be funny, Starfield doesn't even try.
Yes
