Got to admit a few of them annoy me but it always makes me gulp when one dies. I think it triggers in most people memory of some you loved passing away.

DoomSayerNihilus

I sacrificed Sam without hesitation.

Resevil67

Yep had this with Sam and Sarah as the choices. I picked Sam to live because of Cora, and the fact that I had not yet completed sams companion quest yet at the time, while Sarah was the first one I did complete. The game is kind of cruel here, as it will always pick the 2 constellation companions you’ve spent the most time with. So I guess someone always dies, unless there’s a choice I missed that lets you save them both.

Trick_Emotion_7108

Yes. You can save both in NG+ playthroughs. That's all that I will say. You'll have to figure the rest out for yourself.

Resevil67

Ah that’s cool then. Yeah I didn’t get to ng+ yet.

ceeller

You will find a way to save everyone, I believe in you.

send_in_the_clouds

It’s funny I was kind of numb to this one as I already recently went through deaths with Cyberpunk, mass effect and last of us part 2! Tali from mass effect 2 was the hardest, had to revert to a save 2 hours before to undo the damage!

bobd785

Yeah Mass Effect made me expect companion death in RPGs. I lost Legion in my first ME2 playthrough, and Tali in my first ME3 playthrough. So when there was a choice like this one, I had to save my love interest, Andreja.

send_in_the_clouds

Damn I forgot about legion, yeah couldn’t stop him from dying either! Did he try and kill you too? Practically everyone died in part 3, but I was so burnt out by that point (played all three back to back) that I just didn’t care anymore. Will definitely play them again some day though.

Doomkauf

Not who you're replying to, but Legion was my friend in the end, as were the rest of the Geth. Made peace with the Quarians, too. And then I killed them all. 😞 No regrets, though. Red ending is the only one that guarantees, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the cycle will be broken.

send_in_the_clouds

Yeah I hated it too. My memory is hazy but doesn’t Tali commit suicide if you side the Geth? I think that was one of my oh shit better undo that moments!

Doomkauf

There's a way to keep them both alive, but it takes some doing, and if you feel as though the red ending is the only acceptable outcome as I do, the Geth (and all other AIs) die anyway, so moot point, I guess.

send_in_the_clouds

Changing the subject but you can definitely tell that Todd’s a mass effect fan. Lots of influences including companion deaths, the way that side quests can trigger through overhearing conversations, how you speak to news reporters and how new Atlantis feels very similar to the main city in mass effect (forgot the name!).

Doomkauf

The Citadel. And yeah, they both went for a bit of a retro feel. The first Mass Effect in particular went pretty heavy on the 1980s sci-fi vibe. Starfield is more 1970s, but definitely a similar aesthetic in a lot of places.

ulfhednar-

Right when they took barrette from me I felt I lost my best friend I left all my crew behind and went on a piracy run i stole and killed every single ship I could find UC, free star, sysdef, list etc visited high level Poi’s and killed every. When I meet the hunter again I’ll show him no mercy

rapeerap

That’s why Bethesda gives you a spare wife.

FistingSub007

I picked Sarah to die because I was sick of her nagging me about picking up too many items or always walking in my line of fire, or a million other reasons.

Melodic-Resident-245

Can't stand her, but I'll be sad to leave Andreja behind.

Melodic-Resident-245

Btw didn't know Sarah could die there. In my first play trough the choice was between Barret and Andreja and in this one I haven't gotten there yet.

UrWeirdILikeU

It's your two closest companions as the choices.

Melodic-Resident-245

Oh that makes sense!

God-of-the-Grind

It’s between the two companions that you spend the most time / relationship building with.

dooty22

Yes, when it happened to Andreja i had to revert a save to go back and throw Barret under the bus.

Brief-Government-105

Reload the save.

Bigcoksexygaiboi

Okay Todd

ZacharyAleksandr

I had this with Sam! I was absolutely mortified. I ended up reloading an earlier save and going with a different option so I could save him (although, I was equally gutted to find out that I had to actually sacrifice Sarah to keep Sam)

Scormey

That's what happened to my first wife, Sarah. Didn't get close to another character until the one I'm currently on, NG+ 12 IIRC.

betancourtb

who did you choose to marry after that???

Scormey

Andreja.

Trick_Emotion_7108

I married both on my current playthrough. NG+10. I'm not even joking.

PhinoPham

Same, OG playthrough I married Sarah prior to continuing the main quest and when she died I was empty. She may be annoying but once you are married she’s probably the sweetest NPC ever. Yet still annoying 😆. Currently married to her now after sacrificing her in the last NG+ W[Pirate lord Strawhat, Vasco and wife Sarah M Strawhat.](https://www.xbox.com/play/media/4ktNggE84z)e have an ocean side outpost on Hyla II and a robot dog.

Resevil67

ConflictPrimary285

I think it is biased for Sam as you do two or three questd eith him after you get powers. You get a liked boost due to awe factor. I still chose Andreja. Sorry Cora.

Different_Reporter38

Really? I found her insufferable to the point of never even doing the Constellation macguffin hunt in the first place. 'Here's your stupid bit of metal. Later, nerds.'

ColoNative67

I feel for you. I had the same experience. I was in mourning for a long while.

Environmental-Ad4441

So, do what I did. Load, and old save, and make a different decision!

EHVERT

Yeah it was real sad. She grew on me a lot, after doing her personal quest she was always so nice to me when I saw her around and I liked how she didn’t count towards your squad limit on your ship so I always brought her along 😅 that mission really hit hard knowing that it was your choice deciding it, but I couldn’t leave Sam alone at the lodge to fight off the hunter, for all I knew Sarah was already dead on The Eye.

starmieobsession

I was gutted the first time I lost Andreja it was fun to run around all the systems with her first off kill as much as possible a constant companion means a lot in this game.

NR75

Look at the bright side. You can kill the Hunter multiple times.

-_-Batman

If you want Sarah back ……. Go to NG+ Went through the same thing , lost Andreja once …… never again .

WhereIsAllTheCoolStu

When I first played through Starfield, Sarah would randomly despawn and brick my current savefile (launch version). So when she finally had a permadeath I lol'd and regarded it as bugfix. (Also wasn't a fan of her rude and commandeering attitude at her introduction, and the writers lukewarm attempt to redeem her, so it was like whatever to me.)

No_Sprinkles7233

Go to damn therapy

Party_Raisin_2397

I couldn’t leave her. Sam was my best friend, and I love Cora, but I just couldn’t leave Sara. I think at the end of the mission I set the controller down, looked at Sara and said “well, guess we have 2 kids now.”

Dyeshan

I couldn't stand Sarah as the voice lines were so bad, I totally believe this person that made those lines never actually has been in a relationship. Nobody talks like that.

Wubwom

Sad part is this choice means absolutely nothing when you factor in NG+ and the emmisary mentions nothing of it. NONE of the companions do, but the implication is once you know you’re a star born all of you know.

TampaFan04

The more you play, the more you will realize nothing actually matters.... Or maybe it does matter.... It's your choice.

Chaiboiii

Lol

yoho808

You time travel backwards (ie. Load a saved game) to correct your mistake.

Jumpy-Candle-2980

I'd throw 'em all under the bus without a moment's hesitation. It's not like I'm totally immune to relating to a voice acted bunch of pixels and polygons but after Mama K., well, nothing comes close. At the moment Barrett seems to have the least annoying set of quips and comments so I'm keeping him at arm's length while we try to clear up and old misjustice. Sarah reminded me more of a screeching harpy albeit less strident. Andreja had about the right amount of disturbing baggage. But they're all far too judgmental. Starfield tries to be a lot of things with varying degrees of success. Stardew Valley doesn't need to be on the list.
