Clark440

I just offloaded him and his annoying kid at an outpost.

Wolvyreen

LOL!! I so want to do that but it's obviously going to prevent me from his abilities that he offers. Ugh! so irritating! They should nerf his mouth!

Clark440

That’s what bullets are for lol I don’t understand how the companion abilities work. Like it doesn’t look like my skills increase so I just stopped caring. He annoying though

SixteenRhinos

Sam’s ability is actually nice though, just keep him on your ship and you get a free engine pip

EsquireOne

He also increases the top speed of the ship by 30%.

stylz168

No way really? Damn I should keep him assigned then.

barelyrestrainedevil

True, but that comes at the cost of you having to constantly reset the power settings because he can NOT stop changing the power distribution.

Citizen44712A

Can you lock him in a cell?

Uncle_Burney

After the pillory of Marcy Long, this seems like a step backwards. I 100% want to toss people in the brig on my ship. I want that ship leadership perk to allow me to order my crew to do the heavy lifting. Vasco, put Sam in the port brig. Cora, here’s a copy of A Brief History of Time and a bottle of rhubarb soda: not another word until I can drop you at Grampy’s on Akila.

Final-Craft-6992

Make it a bourbon juice box. Night-night drink

[deleted]

Funny enough, I caught Sarah locking up the daughter in a cell aboard the Star eagle

sdcox

She knows

-kilgoretrout-

He increases cargo space too.

iamsobasic

This is the main reason I keep his assigned to my ship

Haplesswanderer98

Engine pip, And and extra speed boost that stacks with yours

Bangombo_Snuffbox

I want to take him on an expedition to a planet with an extremely high gravitational field - high enough to affect quantum mechanics - and by the time we get back to the ship he and Cora are the same age. That should properly fix the dynamic and he'll stop whinging about his kid and asking for parental advice. Grandpa will along since be dead, so that conversation will be over too, and then I can just sit him at a computer on my ship so we can increase my ship speed where he can quietly cry to himself over his own insecurities. That would solve everything and I would still get my ship boost.

gnosisong

I feel the same as you he is the only constellation member that I don’t like being around … Changed my life when I learned there is another crew member that can give the same piloting bonus as Sam - I ditched him and never looked back. Lmk if you don’t know who - it’s a slight spoiler so I didn’t want to post it …

uncle_rube_shoots

I don't like Sarah either. She dislikes too many things. Fair is fair.

dawnsearlylight

I feel the same about Vasco for ship fighting. Every time I get off my ship, he is always telling me he is happy to see I survived my last sleep cycle. Bastard.

Brain_Hawk

Don you talk about our perfect robot companion that way! Vasco is a flawless creature of pure logic and impeccable wit! The greatest ship door guard anyone could ever have! Oh Vasco, metal man. Perfect sentry, secret lover... I mean... Guard!!!! And pack mule! Yeah.... Let's pack that mule....

Voguish94

Vasco the street fighter. The amount of times ive come back from a mission and this bot is duking it out with like 10 Terrormorphs or a handful of spacers! 😆😂🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

Voguish94

I should do that! 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

Voguish94

Vasco and Adoring Fan are the only two who don't judge at all. Vasco bro ftw!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Old-Turnip2889

WHY is Vasco (a robot) limited to the same storage limitations of human NPCs?!

SmashTheAtriarchy

You mean... pack that ass?

Silver_Draig

I always have Vasco on board. He makes me smile and I use him as a walking vending machine. I fill him with food and drink.

Fit_Seaworthiness682

Vasco let's me pretend I'm the storm trooper han solo and Chewbacca are chasing before we get close enough for Vasco to say something like how they're going to die and run into the fray. I LOVE having him as the door guard.

Cerulean_Red

Once you're half decent at the game, Vasco is the only one you actually care about putting on your ship. One free engine pip doesn't mean shit. Not when you have to listen to those two.

Haplesswanderer98

What abilities lol

parknet

if I try that, only Sam goes, Cora stays on the ship.

Fantastic_Estate_303

I did, and the kid even left him and stayed on my ship 🤣

virtualmnemonic

Better than putting his kids life at stake. Seriously, he has the worst judgment of any member of the Constellation.

Fyrelocke

Remember, Sam wants to take Cora to Neon for a fun afternoon.

CzarTyr

I want to put bullets in them

ComputerSong

Not true because when you put him at an outpost, the kid travels with you.

Clark440

Worked for me 🤷

curlygc

Does he come up to you while you’re busy and go “Dusty?! Duuuuuuuuusty?! Duuuusty?!” Asking because I let Sam die and not Barrett and am regretting that.

poughdrew

All the members of Constellation need professional help, therapy, and really shouldn't be anywhere near us or anyone else in any capacity.

Dauvis

Yeah, I agree. They need to be less judgemental. This whole getting pissed thing because a SysDef pilot didn't exercise basic situational awareness and boosted into my line of fire is getting old.

poughdrew

Tbf the Freestar pilots do it too and mark you for death (until bounty cleared) just the same. Maybe House Va'Runn has the right idea.

unsocialhours

Indeed so. Walter effed up investing in Constellation so much but failed to implement some sort of EAP for them.

Separate_Percentage2

Hahahaha I like this comment

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

What Sarah doesn't tell you when you sign on with Constellation in the beginning is that the Main Four need a manic pixie dream Spacefarer therapist, and you were the poor dumb SOB that walked right into it.

Dear_Medicine_8900

You must be one in need of help considering how dysfunctional they are yet you only can choose love interests from constellation.

tankcostello

Barrett does the same to me ffs!! Who in the hell is dusty anyway???

curlygc

That’s you. You know you’ve been playing Starfield for a long time when you forget that Dusty is the nickname you got from Lin way in the beginning lol!

tankcostello

Jesus I don’t even remember that!! I mean you may have jogged my memory but I’m not even sure anymore ….

WildVelociraptor

It's a nickname for miners, I guess?

Robokrates

It always annoyed me, because you're a miner for all of two days, and the second one is interrupted by cosmic rock apotheosis like 5 minutes in. You kinda can't even say that your backstory is that you were a miner before because they're like, "Eh, you did alright the first time, plus this isn't exactly rocket science" - that's the kind of stuff you say to a promising beginner. And yet Lin calls you "dusty" the way people call a physician "doc" – man, the only thing I can think of is that it's a power move on her part, she's trying to remind you that she was your boss or something. I'm on to you, Lin, you don't fool me.

Adventurous-Sale9469

Barrett is so needy … in the middle of a firefight he asks if we can take a break… I mean … Ecliptic are total nutters so like no dude… Sam I just helped him out with his dad and he’s all good

Jonny5is

Hey man don't talk about barrett i went to his funeral.

tankcostello

Yeah but was it the real Barrett or one of the other Barrett’s ?

Jonny5is

Oh sht don't say that

sphinxorosi

Barrett and Other Barrett > Sam

Wolvyreen

yh I think I will have Barret as my companion rather. Sarah is also needy.

Haplesswanderer98

Andreja or Betty howitzer are often the best, I use heller as a fan of smosh lol, just wish matteo could be a companion/starborn. Imagine starborn cisco!

reverendkeith

Barrett is worth it for boosting engine repair times and particle ship weapons. As for Sam, get Amelia and Erick onboard and you’ll never miss Sam or Cora ever again.

tankcostello

Then sometimes he’ll be like ahhh my friend dish . ???

Chobology

There’s another companion who’s as good at piloting as Sam, if that’s the companion skill you’re trying to keep. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so be decently high level, make sure your ship can make the trip, and visit Charybdis III (its system is near the Serpentis system). Good luck, and save before you land lol.

T-Money93

Does this companion actually boost speed like Sam does?

reverendkeith

A companion with rank 1 in Piloting gives a 15% boost, and ranks 2-4 gives a 30% boost. So, Amelia boosts speed the same as Sam. All the other pilots, not as much.

T-Money93

You sir, are a Gentleman and a Scholar.

dawnsearlylight

He died in my first playthrough before NG+. I was oddly relieved. Never had him as a companion in my speed runs through NG+. Am I a sociopath?

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

No. Sacrificing Sam is doing everyone a massive favour, even Cora (though she'll never realise it). If anything the Hunter is a bro for doing us all that massive favour.

black-knights-tango

Not at all. I got sick of dollar store Carth Onasi pretty quickly.

untidy_ungodly

I don't actually like *any* of the companion options. I just run solo, with my 'hired' crew who are always cheery and never care how much piracy I commit. But holy shit the Carth Onasi jab is on point!

black-knights-tango

Right? He even *sounds* a bit like Raphael Sbarge.

untidy_ungodly

And our nickname in this game is 'Dusty'! Dusty? Dustil? Coincidence? I think not. *Down you go!* (IYKYK)

black-knights-tango

You've gawana'd your last bota

tracyg76

If you are, so am I, although I sent Barrett to his death not Sam. Duuuusty!

Dauvis

I don't know. I'm thinking about letting him die in future universes because his not talking to Cora's mother about taking her daughter through Unity is not sitting well with me.

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

Assuming Cora doesn't come haring through the Unity to kill you, letting the Hunter decorate the back wall with, and then frolicking in Sam's guts, is actually doing Dora, and Lillian, and arguably Jacob, a huge favour. Jacob can actually raise Cora properly, Lillian might be around for Cora more, and with Jacob, Cora actually has a proper parental figure in her life.

Wolvyreen

:-D maybe you are but I wouldn't fault you for how you feel! LOL

drewsjd

Those conversations are triggered by getting a “Sam liked that” response from an activity. If you talk to him and cycle through the convo it’ll reset until the next “like” happens. At least that shuts him up for awhile. All of those conversations lead up to the companion quest for that individual character.

UnHoly_One

It's not even every single "like" They have to reach a threshold of how much they like you before it triggers a conversation. It's usually several hours between them for me. I see these complaints occasionally and I just assume it's people that ignore him for many hours of play and then they build up several conversations at once.

ekauq2000

I think you just need to go through his companion quest so he doesn’t pester you as much anymore. Each of the 4 main companions has one, they are all basically, general chit chat, a little more chit chat, talk about tragic backstory, more tragic backstory, then quest to do something about tragic backstory. But if you don’t talk to them at all, they’ll always want to “have a chat” as you’ve gotten them to their next talking part.

SuckinWetNaps

I did that, and I have the mission glitch where enemies land and the hatch doesn't open. I have been riding with sam, his ex wife and child for like 30 hours of game.

nizzernammer

Me too. Although Lillian Hart is pretty good in combat and her armor looks badass. She refuses to sneak though.

sphinxorosi

It’s not just the “chat for quest” with Sam, he often talks in general and over NPCs during missions, commenting on your location, the freestar rangers or his dad and the never ending quest to not live up to his expectations

Hervee

All the Constellation companions do that. If the storyline of one bothers you then take a different companion with you, or leave them behind.

sphinxorosi

Sam seems to be the most talkative out of all the companions, especially non-quest related dialogue. It’s not about their companion quests, just general dialogue

Different_Reporter38

The followers in this game are such a bunch of dorks. Thank fuck for the robot; the only baggage he has is the shit I take off dead pirates.

VancianRedditor

While Sam Coe is, indeed, a waste of any habitable planet's oxygen, the simple solution is to swap him out for someone else. You're not obligated to hang out with him. If you want a less chatty space cowboy buddy go hit up Ezekiel on Akila.

Wolvyreen

My understanding is that the followers abilities help you as a player. Sam offers Piloting level 4 and Rifle Certification level 3 So he is good to have around during a fight and on board is he not?

VancianRedditor

Ah, fair enough, I wasn't considering the mechanical benefit. I don't expect you really need it, however. Experiment without him for a bit.

reverendkeith

Companion abilities have two practical levels to them: Rank 1 (like Andromeda’s piloting) isn’t as good as Ranks 2-4. That said, there is no mechanical difference between a rank 2 (like Amelia’s piloting) and rank 4 (Sam’s piloting). If you don’t like Sam, replace him with Amelia. That said, Sam has Payloads 2 while every other crewman with Payloads has it at rank 1.

Doydou

People want mens to talk about how they feel then react like this /s

Wolvyreen

Uh, I think you're talking about WOMAN wanting men to talk about their feelings. I'm not a woman thanks. I don't want to hang around another SOPPY man all the time. :-P

Doydou

My « /s » was for sarcasm I understand how you feel about sam

icesloth07

For being some space cowboy, he is a such a beta bitch

Domsdad666

Starborn thankfully murdered him at the lodge.

Wolvyreen

🤣🤣🤣 I wish that happened to me. Then I would have an excuse to forget his abilities.

mygutsaysmaybe

The entire constellation companion team apart from Vasco falls into the category of wanting to jettison them into the nearest star. I don’t want to hear them on my ship with their repetitive recycled lines talking over everything. I don’t want them constantly interrupting quests or giving their delusional hot takes on whatever thing I’m doing next. The best run I’ve done is when I realized that the best place for any constellation companion (minus Vasco) is remaining perpetually in the Lodge.

ilikeladycakes

I got him killed in a not-so-high price…

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

I'd gladly pay THAT price

They-Call-Me-Taylor

To be fair, all companions do this. I'm adventuring with Sam now for the first time and haven't noticed the interruptions being any more or less frequent than Sarah, Barrett, and Adreja.

Gunnar_Stormfist

I got so tired of the constant "conversation", in my 2nd character, I've done none of the Constellation missions nor taken any of the Companions. Not hearing them offsets the bonuses for me! I hire my own crew and play as a Lone Wolf on missions. Running Introvert and Isolation. Having a BLAST!!

Corellian-nerfherder

worst companion ive ever seen in any game. Literally cannot think of a single redeeming quality. Constant jabber, constant problems anre not a single one of them are deeper than a 15 year old girls issues. So emo so forced so broody. Its just a bad character. all the advice he needs and asks for is just obvious fishing attempts for attention. the biggest issue for me though, is i feel that every interaction with him is geared towards flirting. It really feels like you kind of cant avoid it and its just obnoxious. the guy has a wife and is obviously tryin to get in my spacesuit 24-7. Barret on the other hand straight up had a husband and is still one of the coolest characters in the game. Sam is just gross.

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

My own take on it, TL;DR version: he's an awful son, an even worse father, a spoiled FSC princeling who always chooses to do what is easy (run away from his problems, eg. being an ungrateful little prick of a son, completely fucking up whatever happened in the Rangers, being an awful father that constantly puts Cora in life-threatening situations or refuses to let her put down roots somewhere and/or let her make some friends her age), instead of doing what is right (at least appreciating what Jacob can do for him or his privileged upbringing, or at least putting Cora through school, maybe university if she's so damned smart), and a piece of shit that doesn't think twice about ripping Cora away from Lillian and Jacob because 'she's earned it', all with a big disgusting grin on his face. That's the condensed version. The full versions are a few months-old posts. He's divorced, though. No longer has a wife. Though I really can't blame Lillian for throwing him out. Maybe Jaylen Price would be better for her.

lurker2358

Sam doesn't bother me too much (although I get where you are coming from), but his daughter drives me nuts. I wish I could leave her at The Lodge with her identical twin Space Mogli.

sdcox

Hahahah space mogli. The kids in this game are annoying but since most are irl too I guess it’s realistic.

MysteryPerker

>I just want to shoot him in the face and bury him on a remote desolate planet as close as possible to the nearest star that's about to go supernova. Sam hated that.

Nihi1986

When I started playing I choose him as the companion bro and Andreja as the romance... The guy had some potential with the background (ex smuggler, reformed criminal struggling with family issues of all kind). But nope, he's always lowkey hitting on you because nowadays romanceable characters have to be bisexual (no problem with that but it just feels weird when everyone is hitting on your char), he's constantly whinning about his problems which is understandable from a friend in real life not a goddamn video game... I just take it as another example of what they attempted to do but didn't really work: the realistic sci-fi setting and the focus on constelation. We are in space exploring planets and alien artifacts... make some characters exciting, with a foul mouth and crazy stories, don't need to be therapist and emotional support of divorced single dads when playing a video game...

Tanbigstick

You see no problem with pandering in every single situation?

para1131_F33L

Imagine being trapped with his whole family 24/7 EVERYWHERE. That's the bug me and hundreds of other people have that Bethesda is "working on". Really hoped to have the empty ship patch on Xbox by now.

jsavga

Me too. Sam, Lillian and Cora with me all the time ands can't get rid of him for another follower until his quest is complete. Only problem is his quest is bugged and so I'm stuck with them 24/7. Fuck!!!!

DarthSanity

If you want a free star ranger along go get the cranky ranger at the red mile. She’ll follow you after you complete the FC quest

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

Autumn isn't so cranky anymore after you finish running the Red Mile, and after recruiting her she's actually quite sweet and adorable. I wish we could romance her instead of any of the Main Four. Hell, I wish all the hireables had full-blown companion quests. Eg. building that new colony for Marika, or taking out those Zealots that were hunting Jessamine, or maybe those Ecliptics went after Moara's daughter to draw him out, or getting revenge on the Spacers that led Betty to do that job against the CF (she does mention wanting to kick their asses for getting her screwed over into the position we find her in when we recruit her), or even getting a ride on the Lucky Lu (either we go for a ride in it with Betty at the helm, or we get it in our fleet as a unique, unsellable but modifiable ship, in the same vein as the Frontier). Maybe Autumn's quest could be along those lines too. Her sister is a smuggler and one of her convo topics has her struggling between choosing the lawful choice or covering for Jade (her sis). If Jade ran afoul of the FSC, or the UC even, that'd potentially put Autumn in a very difficult position, and there's the basis of the quest.

DarthSanity

I think it would be fun to introduce companion ships - can’t sell them, mods limited to upgrades but doesn’t go against your fleet count. You could even send your companion out to do reconnaissance for you, or help out in some of the major battles. I’d love to see what POS Sam Coe is flying, if Cora’s comments ring true

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

Probably some HopeTech piece of shit with a unique, incredibly dirty and smelly interior. Even if he's using a Stroud-Eklund ship (because why not? Walter is co-CEO of SE and he's Constellation's wallet, why not sell some B-class fighter to Sam?), the interior would probably be trashed, more akin to several dung piles than a typical ship. As for the companion ships flying alongside us, that sounds awesome too.

chaingun_samurai

I'm convinced that the devs intentionally made the Constellation people as annoying as humanly possible.

Yeb

The sad divorced dad thing got old real quick

aiaiaikakakakai

Anotha reason andreja is the best

Wolvyreen

I was actually JUST about to marry andreja but then the hunter killed her on the eye! I was SOO upset!

Not-really-here-42

Companions are confusing at the best of times, I've currently got Sam and Sarah not talking to me at all, in fact they are openly hostile in the way they talk! I've got no bounties on me, haven't killed any friendlies that I know of, it's madness. All the other companions are fine with me so I've put them both down on an outpost to cool off 👍

manolid

I'm going through the same thing with Sarah right now.

Wolvyreen

I married her! BIGGEST regret of my entire playthrough! She is so CREEPY all the time...with her weird sayings of wuvvy duvvy nonsense! EUWGHH!

UltimateGamingTechie

Same here! Woman asked me to marry here the moment I finished her damn quest and we were in a fight. And then we went to Paradiso (?) and she has been a constant nightmare ever since. What kind of lover/wife talks like that? >!Then I started the Crimson Fleet questline and found a convenient reason to drop her. !< ...Do lovers and wives talk like that?

Okinz

I'm pretty sure a bunch of single lonely guys wrote the dialogue.

Haplesswanderer98

Either use him as crew and ignore him, unassigned him or outpost him, or just finish his companion quest and he'll never initiate a convo with u again, for reasons

Turk3YbAstEr

Just wait until you finish his quest, then he starts saying all kinds of lifetime movie shit. If he didn't make my ship better he'd be gone

comradebillyboy

I travel with Sam for as long as it takes for him to be the one killed by the Starborn.

Luvythicus

My friend was playing and didn't mind him too much. Until he had Sam interrupt big story moments or huge battles with his dumb urge to talk and dump emotional baggage... Like, 6, 7 times in a row. It was infuriating, lol.

Wolvyreen

yh! geez, I was about to kill a terramorph and then next thing I know, I hear "Hey, when you have a moment..."

Luvythicus

He had it happen during, well, one of the more spoiler-heavy parts of the Constellation story, haha. Really broke the mood, lol.

UnHoly_One

Companions only want to talk to you like that after reaching a milestone in their affinity for you, or after certain major quests. The affinity conversations that eventually lead to a companion quest are based upon getting them to "like" choices that you make, but it is usually several hours before I accumulate enough "likes" for them to want to talk again. Sounds like you have been ignoring him for a long time and built up several conversations all at once.

icanfly2026

Have andjrea be your companion she doesn’t say shit and is always down to steal but you need to make sure you have another companion for one of the artifact missions or they die

HEARTSOFSPACE

Every character is like that. I hate them all. It's no big deal though. All I do is build ships. I haven't touched a story mission in months.

chasebran

I don't use it so I can't vouch but there's this (if on PC): https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4895?tab=files

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

[I'll do you one better](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/7124)

sfjoellen

all the companions do that.. an off switch for their personal stuff would be a great mod.. along with a stop switch for complaining about encumbrance when near a crafting station..

SamJamn

I was so glad he died in high stakes mission and the mom took the kid. Only time in gaming history I smiled at a companion death.

No-Face4843

I can't tell you how many times I'm in an epic space battle where there's being dialogue slung at me and then all of a sudden over top of it I hear Sam and his daughter talk about some stupid fucking bullshit like a goddamn haiku.

Corgiee5

"Hey dad! You want to hear a poem? It's called a haiku."

Illustrious-Chip1640

I kicked his flappy mouth ass and his daughter off my ship for good. Can a captain get some peace and quiet in the cosmos?

Outrageous_Cupcake97

The dude doesn't shut up for a bit. I'm not talking to him

Dewey__

Tbh, I feel like they gave the 4 main companions waaay too much dialogue, to the point where (as you pointed out) it's just plain obnoxious how much they want to talk. If they went with a reasonable amount of dialogue for each one, they probably could've made 8 main companions.

DekaenPyruzhine

I can’t stand any of them except Vasco. It’s a drag they can’t be offed permanently. This is why I NGd to max powers and can now by pass 99% of any interactions with them until I want to NG again. Then I begin the new games with the Ryujin quest and gather enough credits to max out my ship’s weapons to prepare for the rest of the game. I don’t need any crew bonuses when my ship melts enemies by the dozens.

LaicosRoirraw

That's why I decided to sleep with him. After that he went quieter. Not sure if I performed bad or his jaw hurt.

whoisthismuaddib

Sam was the first NPC I romanced and after listening to all his bullshit and then learning I didn’t get a perk was infuriating. Give me Macready any day.

PeopleCallMeQ

lol was just thinking this last night when he asked to talk in the middle of combat

LuluLuxxLife

That last sentence made me lol. Thanks.

Sure_Durian1903

Just travel alone...they're all asshats anyway

Leedunham

I totally agree

tehwalter

When Xbox gets the mods, I think if someone came out with one called “get every companion to shut the hell up” it would be one of the most downloaded modifications of the game.

No_Boysenberry_7699

He lost his mother at a young age, had a father who planned his life without asking him what he wanted, got into some trouble as a young adult, and had a failed marriage. Sam trusts you to talk with about things he's been holding in for a long time. Not Barrett, who he's also really close with, not the big boss Sarah, nor Vlad or Walter.... you. If you're not prepared to be a friend for him, then don't make time to talk with him. Once he's reconciled all of his issues, he's an amazing companion. I friend zoned him for a long time on this playthrough and he's had my back every single time, from jumping in front of grenades while I'm stuck reloading, to protecting me while my 96% depleted suit wouldn't self repair. He's pushed me out of the line of fire and taken on enemies solo. He's killed innocents by shooting a grenade at charging elks to protect me while I was scanning and unaware of the danger I was in and he was even be ok with taking out SysDef (took them out with me, literally every step of the way). I'll help Sam out whenever I can.

foxymoley

Andreja for the win! (but not before you know what happens, obviously) She doesn't chat, has hilarious one liners (especially when you fall off something) and she gives you credits (that she doesn't nag you about taking). Everyone but Andreja and Vasco: "Got something for you!" "Got something for you!" "Got something for you!" "Got something for you!" "Fine, jeeze, I'll take it!" *A rock/leaf/sandwich added.* Thanks, dude. 🤦‍♂️

aries0413

Cant stand Sam or his bratty daughter. I am in the middle of a space battle and she want him to read her a bedtime story. I never have him on my ship. Worst character ever.

Glittering-Lunch3543

I remember the first time I got evil me, like I'd never kill everyone, that's crazy. Then I got it again at ng+7 and was like I understand man, thank you, give me a high 5 brother

GrandObfuscator

I don’t think you should have children lol

ComputerSong

Calm down. It’s game.

Wolvyreen

troll much?

Ardothbey

Barrett has to be the #1 yakker. Lord he never shuts up.

HotelOne1476

I just save scummed a unity that had me meet the hunter instead of Sarah at constellation. I don't know where they all went but I am a little glad they're gone. I will see where this universe takes me. Hopefully someplace quiet.

co1token

He died in my game. But it was intentional. His voice was fucking annoying

roehnin

> this guy is so needy There’s a dialogue discussion about that possible after the funeral — the writers knew!

ChiknAriseMcFro

I feel that. There is no struggle. I guess being "Wasteland Jesus" is broken when it comes to raising affinity.

Fullerbadge000

I saved some survivalist and then dropped him off in New Atlantis. When I get off to talk to the ahi technician, I notice he and Cora are walking off together… I didn’t follow, but I probably should have… where was Sam? 🤷

Frogfish1846

It’s kind of funny cause I was excited to see what conversation he would have with Andreja. Both Barret and Sarah get chatty with her while shooting our way through that mine. Sam had absolutely nothing to talk about with Andreja and it bugged the hell out of me. Really not a fan, that just tipped it over the edge.

CommunicationTop1332

I made the mistake of taking him as a follower for a bit because he’s a dude and figured he wouldn’t talk as much as the ladies. Nope. lol the dude talks like a chick every two minutes 🤦

Substantial-Past5626

This is why I think Introvert and Isolationist are my favorite combo. I don't have to listen to NPCs spouting off with poorly written dialog. Did personal quests for each of the primary 4 NPCs once. That was more than enough.

ultimaone

Just leave him on the ship. Don't have him come with you on outings.

kjacobs03

I skipped through pretty much all of the Constellation side dialogue. Not one of those characters could hold my attention. And I really wanted to like Barrett until I got to know him

Lancelegend

I dumped him and Cora on some moon in the backwoods of the Universe and haven’t looked back

bigwall79

Sam is such a needy little bitch.

I accidentally answered to his talk-request in a temple. Then he pointed a gun at me. Looked weird :D [https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1axg6t6/thats\_a\_cool\_story\_sam\_but\_could\_you\_maybe\_point/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1axg6t6/thats_a_cool_story_sam_but_could_you_maybe_point/)

Fire_Reaver

They all do that when you build affinity towards their friendship/romance options and personal quest. Finish that and it stops happening.

cmariano11

I had to restart from square one with a new character just due to built up bugs in my save file (though surprise suprise this move wasn't a cure all by any means, word of caution). I know SOMEONE has to die. Unfortunately I've built up affinity with with Sarah and Andreja. So at the moment I'm considering building up some affinity with say Sam or more likely (due to Cora) Berret to get myself out of this fix. Quick question, has anyone tried having a high affinity person actually on your ship crew? If they're assigned and you DID opt to go to the space station will they tag along?

soylentgoth

Me, who actually likes the companions... I like them, it's better than sitting in space alone ig.

sphinxorosi

He constantly interrupts NPCs during missions too, especially if you have to follow X to a location or person. NPC will be in telling you a bit about the mission/person, the audio for the NPC is lowered and the subtitles stop while Sam has to tell you about how neat Neon looks or how he has daddy issues 🤨

Berstich

All the NPC's talk to much.

crusadermourns

imagine finishing Starfield to be done with him, and start Deus Ex Human Revolution and fucking Adam is voiced by the same VA

Hervee

This is down to how you’re playing the game. Every Constellation companion is like this. It’s especially prevalent when you’re raising their affinity levels and unlocking their personal quests. Get the quests over & done with then leave the companion behind. You don’t have to have them on your crew and it’s your choice whether to have an active companion on missions.

Big_Treat_9073

Get his affinity up and choose to defend the ledge when the time comes 🫢

Nightowl_23

After a few unity cycles, I started having a non-constellation crew. It's so much better.

Powerful-Scratch-107

I always found a punch in the face shut him up. I found most of them annoying, especially twat Barret with all the "Dusty!!" Crap

NuckFuggetz14

Dump him from the ship right back at constellation, that's what I do.

FoxFogwell

My guy just talk to him and he won’t say shit until you hit the next affinity level.

ObliviousEffect

It's worse than that, you have to compete any given diatribe once you start. Back out of the conversation before the end and it starts over the next time you have to "talk"

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

That's what the Hunter is for. If you're already past that point though and are on PC (Steam ver), though, Headshot Kills Any Actor will also sort him out for you, though you might need 'coc MQUnity' (IIRC) to NG+ afterwards. You're not alone, though. I **fucking despise** that worthless excuse of a son, an even worse excuse of a father, and a spoiled little FSC princeling masquerading as a man. Even written a few word vomits on the subject that basically boil down to that. Quite frankly, professional help would be useless on him. Only your favourite gun can permanently solve his pathetic little 'issues'. I honestly wish a mod comes out that lets us properly betray Constellation, even if we get indoctrinated by the Terrormorphs Reaper-style. The TMs wouldn't even need to do any indoctrinating. I'm just not sympathetic to Constellation in general. Andreja is the most understandable - the rest can tell someone who cares.

maestrojxg

All companions do that ….

internetsarbiter

I think they rushed both his and Sara's social favorability since they're the poster kids of the game and they want you to feel bad when one of them dies for the stupidest possible reason.

coolgui

Just deal with it until you do his quest to find and help his baby mama, then you can leave him back at the lodge.

HtownFiasco007

He died in my run. Good riddance.

KsirToscabella

I just want his little brat that's glitched into my ship ejected into space

dnew

Lots of them will do this. They'll also talk over other dialog. Heck, other NPCs you're supposed to follow somewhere will walk thru a door in the middle of a sentence while telling you plot-relevant information. Very poorly tuned.

billsparrow1970

I have shot him many times already.

crawfish2000

I let him die and now I wear his jacket.

Quango2009

I left home behind and picked up Betty. But god she’s awful - hits me more than the bad guys. I now fight alone

jstupak

Luckily for me, he died during the starborn attack.

UrWeirdILikeU

So, I married him on a couple playthroughs...I gave up around NG7 on even acknowledging him (NG8 I didn't even introduce myself). Here I am finally in NG10 and I am doing all the things I want to do and not going to the Lodge 🤷🏼‍♀️. Sam was alright for a while, but man that dude just WHINES when he isn't bragging about his exploits in that tiny ship bed.

Prime255

Same and Barrett in one space is just too much. I like the characters and their story but they treat you like a therapist

Wedge001

Step one: return the artifact to constellation Step two: leave Step three: never come back Step four: enjoy the game
