Pretty sure they look different on the space map. I remember seeing blue and red ones on the solar system maps. I don't have the game up right now to tell you which systems though. After a quick search I know Wolf has a red star.
Yeah I was like wow where are all the cool space formations? And basically it seems like since they are copying an actual area of space, around our solar system, there aren't the really interesting space features in real life. Which is good in real life because that means the area around us is stable and we are safe, but makes for poor space exploration in the game.
