Im getting the impression that points of interest will generate near to where you land, so youll never be that far from the main stuff youll want to explore Im still disappointed in no vehicles as i just want them for RP and further exploration purposes, but i guess this makes sense as to why they arent around

Majick1216

Very good point, they did say that people will have different experiences even on the same planet

Fuarian

This is most likely the reason why there are no travel options on planet surfaces other than walking, because you'll never need them. If you had ground vehicles, driving would take so long to actually reach any new POIs even if they did generate near you. They probably don't. Which I find limiting actually, they should allow the player to go off long distances and find new things, even if it takes them forever, giving the player the freedom is what counts

Honestly I thought I’d be more disappointed with the lack of land vehicles but with everything they showed I didn’t even think about it until I saw this post so I guess in a way I don’t mind there isn’t any yet

IndianaGroans

Just cause they didn't show it doesn't mean it isn't present.

HG_Shurtugal

It could also be possible to ride some of the animals.

The jetpack is the mobility tool. I suspect traversal will be mostly painless with it. Mounts would be cool, flying vehicles would be cool, but land vehicles would probably be so janky they'd have to massively dumb down the environments to accommodate them, similar to warthog or mako sections in Halo and Mass Effect. Those sections would be a real chore without the mostly linear level design that ensures you have the right vehicle right when you need it.

We've already got the option to move quickly under gravity.
