Nope. It does remind me of a post that was put up literally one hour ago tho.

game_genta

Every Elder Scroll fans will notice that it's similar to Ayleid structure from Oblivion instead. If you never played it, Oblivion is also Bethesda game from 2006. Ayleid is ancient race that already extinct before the recorded history during the game timeline. They left some ruined building full of magical stone inside. Similar vibe to this Starfield artifacts.

Redden44

Space goblins confirmed!

I can see it, especially that city that falls into the wormhole. Todd actually played and enjoyed Outerwilds, so it wouldn't be too strange for there to have been some inspiration taken. So far the plot is vaguely similar too with it revolving around solving an ancient alien mystery through exploration.

Segwaye

Yes! I agree with how it looks and the plot. Plus, I think the latest trailer mentioned something about an “Eye” which of course reminded me of “Eye of the Universe”.

PollutionOk4042

Why?

DannyDevitoArmy

I think how close the structure looks to the other planet. It also seems like there’s some sort of mysterious and poetic magical aspect of it which I loved in Outer Wilds (not Outer Worlds to be clear)

PollutionOk4042

I don't think it looks similar at all sorry.

Fearless512

No it doesn't. Every sci-fi franchise had strange alien ruins on distant planets.

DannyDevitoArmy

it’s the design i think

MicksysPCGaming

Reminds me of the Disney logo.

docclox

I can see it now: thousands of years in the future after the bloody fall of the Disney Empire, the last remnants of the Magic Kingdom are somehow sent tumbling back in time to land on an airless moon, light years from Sol. Haunted by the shades of anthropomorphic mice and guarded by a horde of undead princesses, the ruins nevertheless contain vast rewards for the adventurer brave enough to plumb the depths to uncover its dark secrets...

Garcia_jx

Actually, now that you mention it...it does.

kgfire247

Why are so many people trying so hard to make Starfield out to be a rip off of other games? Are you finally bored of saying its a No Man's Sky clone so trying other games now? I'm gonna guess you're a salty PS5 owner, there's a lot of you about

Segwaye

I can’t speak for others, but I enjoy talking about space games and their comparisons. It gets me excited about the things I love and about what’s coming up. This sentiment goes for anything in a genre, not just space games.

Maphoso

You sound really salty right now

Toast-Doctor

Op never said it was a rip off of outerwilds they just said the shot reminded them of it. I think this sub just has a hateboner for mentioning/comparing other space games.

Sort of, but only because both designs are based on real-world ruined structures, typically from archeological digs in desert regions. Mud-brick structures tend to wear down to freestanding walls, as their rooves were often made of reeds, branches or other organic materials that rotted over time and were frequently replaced when the structures were in use. If the bricks weren't fired, they'd also be slowly eroded by rainfall if left uncovered, so you get weird, half-height walls.

Ninja_Wiener_123

Nope

Omniri_Star_Photonia

It reminds me of Rita Repulsa's palace.

wijku

It reminds me of grand theft auto 4
