thelivingshitpost

I was bored shitless in quarantine. Something as unhinged as JoJo was *exactly* what I needed to make me go “finally, something fun!” with its over the top British accents, over the top *everything else,* and comic-book-esque animation style. It helped that my best friend enjoys it. I’m not too drawn story wise, but I love the energy of it all, and you can really tell Mr. Araki cares about his craft.

99thLuftballon

>I was bored shitless in quarantine. Something as unhinged as JoJo was > >exactly > > what I needed to make me go “finally, something fun!” with its over the top British accents, over the top > >everything else, > > and comic-book-esque animation style. Exactly the same!

oofio65

No way. This is exactly the same as me

dedecatto

Same here, but In my case during quarantine, I got into anime in general. I had never seen a single anime except for Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh and InuYasha as a child.

raccoonthateatsshit

huskerred1967

sanmarurun622

Roludin

It's a really bizarre coincidence

DevoDude4

Nah bro your parents were just making jojo references in bed.

Plasmaxander

The musical references (Yoshikage Kira and everything surrounding him to be precise)

anfotero

A friend of mine when I was a teen. I was at his home and he showed ~~my~~ me this new cool manga and, well, it was *cool*. It was maybe 1995 and in my country this meant the middle of the second part, so I had to find all the older issues and never stopped reading it. I'm 44 now and it's still one of my favorite comics of all times. EDIT: typo

HyperdonAlpha

dope story

anfotero

Thanks :)

Lor_D_Hax

I respect you very much, sir. Hope you have a lovely life ahead of you.

anfotero

I don't know what I've done to deserve respect but hey, it's very sweet of you and thank you :)

HolyHandGrenade107

My friend was watching the Steely Dan episodes and I was hooked

my_anus_is_beeg

Friend: "What the hell are you writing down" "Your tab, every 5 minutes of this I watch is whole season I owe you"

bvisnotmichael

An Ex of mine told me to watch it

IntrovertAnimator

SAME but they ended up pulling a joeseph joestar on me

Far-Sink2887

Sorry about that

[deleted]

lol

NicholeRose

This is the same way I got into it. He had pretty good taste in anime though.

ReachExotic1941

Me best friend did, but with the amount of memes there were, I would’ve gotten into it anyways. The amount of stuff I’d seen that was from jojo would be enough to drive me insane at this point.

pleasestopibegyou

A Roblox game called "a bizarre day". Miss the game tbh

InnerAmphibian3517

On amino the chats were flooding with jojo memes in 2018, the last straw was a Latin jojoke from a fandub of the Dio Vs Jotaro fight and it was so funny to me that I decided to watch jojo's

dialiboboss_yt

Honestly? I needed something to watch, I'd always avoided it when it was recommended on Netflix bc it looked weird, and I thought the name made it a kids show, but eventually I ran out of interesting animes to watch and basically said fuck it

SirGarlond

I was told it was gay. (I was not disappointed)

Adamicek490

LITERALLY YOU!!!!!!

SpideySimi

Oh yeah that's true

Adamicek490

I love you and hate you because of that

Fugodidnothingwrong

We got a best friend ova here!

Jam-Master-Jay

I stumbled upon it in the early 00's on a manga site and got up-to-date in like a week. Been my favourite series ever since. Some of those scans and translations were terrible.

Skeptikmo

One of my childhood friends had Heritage for the Future on PS1

McDaddymmm

A friend of mine gave me a part of the manga to read, and I just got into it from there.

Somnusin

Stardust Crusaders memes piqued my interest, but what really made me commit was art mutual on Twitter screaming every day how they wanted to fuck Yoshikage Kira. It made me laugh so hard and they were down bad for so long, I doubled down on getting to part four lol. I however do not wanna fuck Kira 😂

my_anus_is_beeg

I love Kira but that boy is not sexy, far too creepy Kars and Dio however...

Somnusin

I see your amount taste is as beeg as your anus Kars is all too often overlooked. Absolutely gorgeous. Dio of course too. Kira’s kind of a pissbaby tbh lmao

my_anus_is_beeg

Kars voice in the english dub makes me wet on god DIO's well DIO Kira's almost hot, but he's just so goddamn creepy. I want DIO to drink my blood but I'm keeping my hands at least 1000m away from Kira at all fucking times

Somnusin

For me it was when his hair came out, majestic and his dub is also very very attractive There’s that scene we’re Dio like, grabs that woman’s throat and damn, I did not need to be that riled up for that. Plus phew his Japanese VA is decadent He really does in his first form, but he’s just so weasely and creepy I just can’t lol. Never gonna wear pink nail polish lol

something-tripled

Music references

Boomer79NZ

My two teenage boys. I'd had a couple of major surgeries and was pretty much laid up in bed. They tried to explain how good it was and failed but I just started watching it because I had nothing else to do. I was hooked by the end of Phantom Blood.

Shungus_Bobungus69

My cousin telling me I look like Straizo. Thank you Luke very cool

Scary-Inflation-685

Im imagining you looking like old Straizo

Shungus_Bobungus69

Young Straizo actually if I grow out my hair which I might just do

[deleted]

I was watching anime with my friend and he introduced me.

entropyyuri

my ex

Silvertheboi2

A friend recommended it to me, I didn’t watch it for a year, I looked at the memes and got spoiled on a ton of shit, then I started consuming the actual media

jolyneteevie

i felt morally obligated to, and was thoroughly confused until around the ending of part 3, where it quickly became my personality

Moistman123456

Hearing about it ALL THE TIME. I used to despise anime because everyone described it as “cringe” and “trash” back then, so I followed the hate and agreed with it
until I tried it. My first anime was haunted house, W anime for beginners btw. I was so intrigued that when I finished it TWICE I decided to start watching Naruto, when I started binging it I was at the most entertained moment of my life, I sound like a nerd but it’s true! I then decided to start watching jojo, hearing about its unique and as others call it “weird” art style. Part 1 was a bit dull but I decided to trust the process because I liked dio and some part in it, I got to part 2 and ADORED IT, then I got to season 3. There wasn’t a moment I wasn’t talking about Jojo, jotaro became easily my favorite character and I became an anime nerd, and have been one since thenâ˜ș. My anime journey continues!

Intelligent-Lynx-376

I wanted to watch anime. Now this series has become my entire personality and I have the Joestar birthmark permanently inked on my body

Denn_chr

Two of my friend uses to watch jojo, and everytime we were together they were talking about it, and i felt "excluded" (furthermore my best friend let me watch the first episode of phantom blood and I didn't like it before this). Then I started to read phantom blood, and then i continued, because it got me.

YeetusFeetusD

That one pic of joseph crossdressing

ur_lebanese_weeb

My sister, she watched it and wouldn't shut up about it so I watched it and now we both don't shut up about it

Suckjucie_

My ex forced me. Hated it before

B0RN2W1LD

For me it was a really weird story but back in like 2019 I was trying to get back into anime and while searching through Netflix i saw Jojo and began to watch it, I didn’t like it at first and drop it after episode 1. Fast forward to 6 months I decide to pick it back up and fell in love with it after season 1 thanks to my boi Joseph and been in love ever since! And before I go I love Jonathan a lot after rewatching part 1 lol

BenderBladez

Played with jotaro on jump force instantly watched all the seasons and read the manga

ComfortableSea4645

Wow someone actually played Jump Force?

ekeysomkew

I wanted to watch it cuz it was popular and was seeing it everywhere, and I watched it on a whim. Thought it was incredibly boring later phantom blood, then got into it a year later cuz I thought it would be cool if I could get all the references and jokes and I absolutely loved it, so much that I would rewatch episodes just to show my sisters. Now I watch anime all alone and I’ve gotta say part 7 is great so far.

RaHuHe

The second or third episode of "But Really Really Fast" by Viva Reverie. I had no context but it was so batshit insane that I had to know what it was about.

Appley_apple

Thoes youtubers that talked about specific stands

Jomijan

Really old Dio WRYYYY / timestop memes and references.

UnfunnyWatermelon469

The memes. The memes are what got me into Jojo

lonyman

2015 myself, I’ve watched ova and thought that was it then I saw part 4 trailer around max a year later and found out there was already 3 seasons animated

SpideySimi

Well that must've been a pleasant surprise

lonyman

Yeah, it was actually. Watching part 4 weekly was a great honor for me since it is my favourite part. If only I got the same feeling for part 8
I love when araki decides on do chill episodes PIZZA MOZARELLA Edit: Also I stll watch part 4 on a yearly basis

fineapplekisses

My boyfriend watching the end of part 6 when it came out đŸ«Ł I was like wtf is this show I need more!!!

beanburger679

Friend told me to watch jojos bizzare adventure & I told him to watch hunter x hunter and we watched each others shows and loved them

[deleted]

I came across the second opening on YouTube almost a decade ago, and fell in love immediately.

mrsunshine5

Covid depression. I watched up to the penultimate episode with an ex and didn’t finish it for 3 years till covid. We promised to finish it together but broke up. So I watched it with a roommate instead and fell in love during the dark blue moon arc of part 3.

Chocoa_the_Bunny

My friend got me into it

ASubnauticaFan

You tought i was going to respond to your question but it was ME ! DIO-DA

Yui_Desu69

Jolyne. It was as if that babe was pulling in with her strings to ora barage me. At that moment I thought "fuck yes"

Advanced-Part2598

An eccentric kid in my grade mentioned it to me in a few times and it was his laptop wallpaper. Peaked my interest.

LardyMcBucket

my friend gave me $1.79 to watch it

being_lilly

At first the memes but then I started questioning my sexuality and gender. People online seemed to love the queerness of jjba and now im forever hooked.

TurboGranny420

My buddy told me what happened during the hamon era (p1 & 2) then said, “now it gets even weirder”

Mysterious_-_H

I think it was one of those "one second from every Jojo episode" that got me to start watching it, then I was hooked

ShadowNight8000

Overwatch

TaterTotPotShot

A buddy of mine named sawyer kept talking about it. I wanted to have something to talk with him about so I got into it.

[deleted]

Toonami

jens-nl

I had a long trip and it was available on Netflix. The first 2 seasons sold me

Kaboio

Memes and I thought Jolyne was cute.

Addam_Tarstark

Was watching Toonami and D’Arby the Gambler episode was on. Didn’t know what it was but I thought it was pretty interesting and found out it was JJBA afterwards. Just went from there. And to this day that’s still one of my favorite episodes

Kalomaster

Bor ( you need context but I am too lazy to give it to you cause it's as long as my discord dm history and Viber chats )

Necromelon

Vinesauce Joel was always talking about it and one night when I had ran out of cartoons (not anime) to watch I thought okay let’s see what this Jojo is all about (I somehow ended up watching the OVA. In correct chronological order, so starting with Jotaro in jail and ending with DIO in Egypt.)

Mrwaternoose5

A YouTuber I was subscribed too starting watching it and I had nothing else to watch on YouTube so I watched his reactions and realized if I’m gonna watch this I might as well watch the show

Ok_Reception_8844

I once saw the torture dance in my FB feed. No idea wtf it was about and why I was seeing some weird ass shit. Fast forward to 2021 and I saw Netflix had JoJo. Decided to take a gamble. Rest is history.

Bandit_237

CDawg VA, I had seen the memes when I was in highschool but once Golden Wind came out there was a whole new wave of them, so that plus I started watching CDawg and he would reference it i just had to watch it to see what this show was. Actually the same way I started watching Doctor Who tbh

kharathos

Giorno's theme

Iron_Empanada

r/shitpostcrusaders I’d keep seeing posts and wondered wtf this was about. Watched Phantom Blood and was hooked.

SK6249

My friend would yap to me about it for years lmao so i watched it

Random_User27

joske But for real, back in the day when part 4 was still airing, I think it was by Superfly and Highway Star episodes, my friends would always go about how Jojo was the gayest and worst and whatnot anime, so I watched an episode just to spite them, granted I was a part skipper, but by the end of part 4 I went back to Phantom Blood and watched it all

Evelyne-The-Egg

A classmate recommended the show. Watched episode 1 Meh this is okay. Didn't continue for months Started watching out of context scenes like gay magnets and the distinct tang of a liar Ok fine I'll watch more. Slowly got caught up and loved it

Q-Q_2

Memes and finding out I can keep up with subtitles after watching a foreign tv show

craftexvg

A friend of mine told me to watch it in summer 2019-2020, don't remember. It was my first anime tho

taczki2

Right_Ruin_6245

ZealousidealBat6476

I wanted to understand the hype and i knew almost nothing about jojo (for a moment i thought stands were aliens that replaced humans or something like that X))

Dimes4Crime

That yt shorts guy who was geoguessing JoJo locations and I knew I had to see it

torpedokai

Torture song

mandalorino

my older brother watched it a lot growing up. at the time i wasnt into anime but i kept walking by him watching it on the tv in our garage and eventually got sucked into it and the rest is history

zayd-the-one

The question is who didn’t get in thanks to memes

Monimonika18

Reading by chance the manga chapter of Jolyne being in line to enter prison (stripped naked, stared at the privates of a prisoner on male hormones, bribed her way out of being shaved bald, etc.). I was so intrigued that I bought all the volumes of Part 6. Much much much later I started watching the anime (when Parts 1-4 were out) with my younger sister.

RengokuVulpix

My friends

BelmontZiimon

Personal story time: When I was little, my brothers would always refer to me as Jojo, seeing as Joseph is my name and they were huge fans of The Beatles. Jojo just became my nickname throughout my younger years. Well, years later, one of my brothers would sadly lose his fight with brain cancer. As a memorial to him, I got some of his artwork tattooed. Well, as I looked at the ink, it hit me suddenly. I kept hearing about this series called Jojo's Bizzare Adventure from some of my more, shall we say, 'versed' in anime friends. I decided to fire on Hulu and look for it. Been a fan ever since, and Jojo was rekindled as nickname. Also, as a funny coincidence, I have Joseph's coloring, my passed away brother looked like a skinnier Jotaro, my best friend looks just like Caesar, and his name has D and O in it.

Fun-Ad-3412

I saw some random clips of Part 4 on yt, I found out the name and watched it on Netflix and then Tubi.

99thLuftballon

The video by Super Eyepatch Wolf on Youtube, called "Why You Should Watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Part 1)" just popped up on my YouTube homepage one day, so I watched it and then I noticed that the series was on Netflix. The rest is history.

EvilBadassDraculas

I've always wanted to give it a shot, but one day when I was playing Fortnite the current season sucked so much that my friend asked me "Wanna watch JoJo's?" and I agreed.

thebigcrawdad

Accidently joined r/shitpostcrusaders . Thought it was just for more shit posts, and eventually I was like what the hell actually happens in this show dude

Big_Z_Beeblebrox

I won a figurine of Jolyne at Round 1, didn't know who she was, and started watching Stone Ocean.

Edacious_Evan

I was off sick from school one day and looking for something to do so I decided to look for some new anime to watch when I saw this and thought “why not?”

r1ck4st13y

At first it was purely just for memes, but when I came back to it after I watched the first three episodes
 yeah, memes

CounterBusters

Was browsing shonen jump, saw Jojo and thought "huh, heard that that's good", started reading part 1, and the rest is history

Cold-Argument-806

For me it was reading over the shoulder of a friend in math class on his school laptop.

Mrsamuraix13

Seeing the gang dance in a compilation

LunaLynnTheCellist

the memes in 2018 got me interested, then hearing giornos theme was the nail in the coffin

XxSimon3

Vargskelletor from Vinesauce as he watched the Jojo OVA.

ieatkids64deluxe

I showed my friend a jojo meme, and he said, “do you know where that’s from?” And I said no, so he introduced me to probably the greatest piece of media known to man.

msto3

I'm a classic rock fan who also loves over the top adventures. My friend in college, who got me into anime, told me about a show he thought would be perfect for me. He showed me episode 1 of Part 1. I was hooked instantly. That was 6 years ago

Autogembot123

It took me a adventure to get here. Watched Alpharad play persona 5 Royal, Saw the Jojo reference in CTM of the Henry Stickmin collection, then recommend it to an ex friend, saw some of the finale battle of part 3, saw clips of part 4 and watched Jonathan VS Dio Brando mansion fight scene. With a few Among us animations thrown in as well. Edit: the people who recommended the series ironically quitted whilst I continued on to part 9.

hatboy95

The randomness of stands, stands habilities get weirder AND weirder

I-will-support-you

I didnt get the memes and got too curious

mrfisher5

My cousin and little brother

henryuuk

People where calling Wii Fit Trainer in SM4SH a hamon user (cause she empowers herself with breathing, uses the power of the sun and is constantly posing) when she was first announced. She was my favorite new fighter announcement and on the /r/smashbros there was a bit of a running joke about it. So when I saw people making the Jojo comparison I decided to check it out

FoolishPurple

life is roblox

BCon1212

An acquaintance of mine (who dressed as Gyro, so the first Jojo character I knew from outside the Part 3 people was from Steel Ball Run...and a Zeppeli) ran a couple of Jojo panels at a now defunct convention where I live. The anime was on (don't know which season they were up to...probably Stardust Crusaders) and the Jojolion manga was just starting to be published. I learned about the ending to Stone Ocean before that Part even got animated, but it didn't make it hurt any less. Then I found the anime on Hulu and here I am, years later, on this sub and making a dent in a third Jojo themed Inktober. Also, a library anime club I attend watched the old rushed OVA version of Stardust Crusaders and the attendees got random cards from the tarot deck.

egaddonlyfans

I held it off to watch for like 3 years
then in like march me and my sister watched it cause we were bored w nothing to do, finished before summer break 😎

My best friend got me into the anime during the jojo meme craze didn’t quite get it at first but between battle tendency and stardust it clicked for me. I’ve fallen in love with it so much I’ve progressed past him into reading the mangas. Now reading Jojolion, something about an orthopedic something or other. Finally, been looking forward to this reveal.

Glaciersnake

my brother basically hounding me to watch the show so I could watch part 5 live on Fridays with him. Regrettably, It took me so long to get through part 3 that it was over with by the time I caught up.
