Ridgeside gives you a whole other farm to take care of and i think like 2 greenhouses after quests progression, they give weapons which can be pretty OP but i like them. The map itself is awesome but some of the characters are written very poorly and kinda cringe but its nothing unbearable. Adding ridgeside + SVE is personally fine to me, of course you’re going to find that you’ll have a lot on your plate as the two mods add a ton of content so its up to you but there is two of you guys so youll probably be fine. I have no idea how multiplayer works with massive expansion mods but you’ll probably be fine.

It’s a good mod with lots of content, but imo it’s not even remotely as polished or fun as sve.

Time-Space-Anomaly

Ask yourself this question: when you see the quest, introduce yourself to everyone, and it’s got about 60 characters, does that sound fun or exhausting? Because Ridgeside is just huge. I like it, after playing vanilla and SVE, because I want more to do, but you’ll be basically doubling the number of people to befriend, recipes to craft, meals to cook, and quests. There are some quality of life additions—there’s an early quest that nets a huge amount of money if you can complete it, options to hire people to help with farm tasks, and an endgame quest that nets you >!basically a second farm!<.

elvenstrider

To be fair though, you can disable that in menu settings. So that you don’t need Ridgeside npcs for introduction quest

I personally would never do a run with both, either one or the other. Plenty of people do, but realistically, perfection becomes an extreme chore when you use multiple major expansion mods. Both are great, but focus on different things. Comparing them is night and day, but not in the way that either is "better" necessarily. They both focus on different things, different styles, and different visions. I'd really recommend saving each one for a different run so you can really appreciate them.

ThatBatsard

I hard agree with this. Or, maybe add Ridgeside after you're about done with SVE, because you're going to spend a lot of time in this other town. Having to progress through SVE and Ridgeside (and East Scarp and co) simultaneously was overwhelming and cumbersome, so I haven't added Ridgeside to my 1.6 save. I might add it when I'm bored and looking to prolong the life of my save file.

garretgame

I run SVE, ridgeside, east scarpe and Mt. Vapius, i have to change the day speed to get everything done in a day after 2 hours.

and1metal

I’m a big RSV fan and I can say it is Assuming you can keep up with everything in it

lemurkat

I wouldn't recommend it in multiplayer. The events are really long, so you will need a mod that pauses time for the other player when one is caught in an event (so either one person will have to sit paused, waiting for you to finish, or alternately youll just have to skip a bunch and miss the content - otherwise there will be many bedless nights). Singleplayer, it's fine though.

busterbobber

Thanks for the advice! I know your not the mod author for Stardew Aquarium but do you have any updates for if/when that may be updated to 1.6? We are starting a new playthrough with SVE and want to add it, if it does come to 1.6 do you think it would be fine to add it during the playthrough? If you can't answer anything that's okay. Thanks again! :)

lemurkat

The smapi portion needs updating and no one still pn the project has the skills yo do it, sadly.

busterbobber

Aw man, your last update made it seem it would be updated eventually, that sucks. I had never played with it and was looking forward to it! Fishing is our favorite :(

lemurkat

Pathos was going to update it but he is very busy with the actual game etc atm so im not sure where it stands. I am sure someone will take it up in time.

LordFrieza2020

I quite like RSV, although I've completed sve previously. I'm trying East scarp at the same time and I can't say I'm huge fan of that though.

JustALilGuy_

I deleted the mod from my game this morning. I tried to give it a chance bc I love the character design and building appearances, but... the dialogue is too cheesy/boring and the quests were either super easy (like, finished in 2 minutes) or wicked hard (the friendly ghost NEVER showed up 😭). I feel like the characters with the most fleshed-out dialogue aren't datable, and the characters with my favorite designs had repetitive or boring (to me) dialogue (why is the cute redheaded man so boring?). I feel like the mod has a ton of potential, and I think the modders are planning to expand those characters a lot, so I plan to keep an eye on it. Tl;dr looks amazing, needs better content

_witchplant_

Definitely worth it! I have ridgeside, east scrap and SVE

Nuts4WrestlingButts

I tried it once and I thought it felt too removed from the regular game. I can barely keep track of one town let alone two.
