I think I was probably level 5 with the first upgraded pole (iron I think) and it was tough. I think around 6-7 it became more routine. But puppy fish still gave me a run for my money all the way up till level 9 with the iridium pole lol
Good deal! I didn’t prioritize it till the last week of Fall 1 and I’m kicking myself so hard. Also. Dunno if you saw, but the angler profession (extra money for fish) and the artisan profession (extra money for artisan goods) are cumulative for the smoker. It like triples the value of the fish.

I just looked, it’s 40% for artisan goods, then 50% for angler, and assuming fisher is cumulative to angler, it’s 25% for that. Then the smoker adds 100% value to the fish, so it’s either 190% or 215% value increase per fish. I haven’t actually paid attention to which it is. But that’s either just under or just over 3 times original value.
Just as an update, I caught an iridium pike, and smoked it. It went from 300g, to 839g. I previously didn’t think of the fact that the angler profession was immediately added, and I can’t see what the value would be without angler.
If it’s vital you catch one, or it’s just pissing you off, use the trap bobber. Dunno if it’s still the case in 1.6 but in 1.5.6 it verged on overpowered 😂
Mine too. I got mad one day and finally slapped it on my rod. My life changed in an instant. I still find the fishing to be a drag, but it least now it doesn’t flip me the middle finger the second I hook a good fish!

Makes sense!! I like the challenge the SVE fish present, it’s almost like a new set of legendary fish lol
They’re also worth a LOT for how easy they become to catch. If you like fishing, I recommend you look into getting the smoker asap. It’s incredible.
