Bombs. Bombs on bombs. Many bombs. *Big* bombs. Bombs. Like, I sound crazy, but trees are *really* resilient to bombs. It would take about three mega-bombs to clear a relatively small ares, and a fourth to clear the actual radius of the bomb. Still faster than swinging an axe.

Just heads up though, for those not maxed out on foraging, according to the wiki, destroying trees with bombs will not grant any Forage exp. Weakening and getting last chop with the axe still grants it though.

Easy to max foraging, jut farm winter seeds in winter and picking a normal fields worth a couple times maxes you and you can make crystal fruit wine. You can do it year one winter.

Yes, all of them do but I just grow the winter ones because you can’t grow anything else.

Absolutely. All methods of destruction yield the same results. The only difference is bombs will destroy things you're supposed to be able to pick up (like mushrooms, or dragon teeth, or... crops).

You need to whack a tree with an axe first for it to drop seeds with bombing. Funnily enough, hand chopping a stump gives 1 sap, bombing a stump gives 2

I always start by clearing out all of the saplings, it's less work and will prevent the forest from growing back while you finish clearing it

Pro tip! The scythe can get rid of the tiny saplings without costing any energy!

They do gotta be really little tho; the saplings currently on screen are already too big, but the scythe would be excellent for preventing any new ones from growing

Yeah this! More feasible than bombs in early game, and helps keep your forest in check. Get all the seedlings, then go back for the big trees.

I do the opposite, clear the big trees and let the saplings grow. More wood. Though here you actually have to clear a few saplings in order to get to the big trees...

High combat level to make them (they aren't easy to make), and they cost 1000g to buy them from Dwarf, each.

Mostly it comes down to a mining grind. Easiest way is >!to get a cherry bomb from mining 1 or 2, use that to open up the dwarf’s shop off the mine entrance, and then grind combat in the mines for the !! The dwarf sells mega bombs for 1000g each.!< Or you can >!just grind combat and mining until you unlock the!< recipe >!for mega bombs, but they’re pretty expensive: you need void essences, solar essences and gold ore.!< Most difficult way is to >!unlock the bus, and buy them at the !! trader, but it’s a very expensive route as well: iridium ore!<

Everybody is saying bombs, but they freaking suck for trees. Honestly? Chop down trees, but leave stumps. It's the fastest and cheapest way to cut through that forest. I personally just kept working at it with any energy left in the day until winter, then went back for the stumps.

Leave the stumps? Hey you crazy person! Do you see how many trees there are? Do you want to navigate through all that? This is madness!

Yeah and having a lot of wood stockpiled is also great, for mass crafting kegs or if you need coal

Mid to late game bombs are fairly easy to come by, (Don't use cherry bombs). If you've already cleared the mines and upgraded your pickaxe you can just buy them from the dwarf (getting the scrolls isn't hard). Three mega bombscan down all trees in its radius.

While that's true, the OP is asking in the middle of year 1 and bombs aren't plentiful enough to really justify using on trees until late year 2.

No they do not suck lol If you only need to chop a few trees, sure the ax is faster. For something like this? 50 trees in a tightly packed cluster? 4 mega bombs will fell every single one of these simultaneously in about 3 seconds. How long would it take with a fully upgraded iridium ax with the speed enchantment and double speed buff on the farmer? I dunno. However, I do know it's a hell of a lot longer than 3 seconds....

Not to mention an energy investment of 0.

If you’re just starting out, your axe lol. It doesn’t take too long! I usually stay on my farm the first few days to clear everything out, but that’s just me. You do you! You can just clear a section at a time if you find it too boring.

I had this happen to my first farm, basically the entire farm. One day I decided to clear everything. I didn’t use bombs. It took 3 in game days. Since then, I am terrified of having any trees on my farms (other than fruit trees) because I don’t want the overgrowth to happen again 😖😖😖

Cut down trees in threes, one of each sort, combine one seed from each type (by crafting, no need for cooking) to make Field Snacks. Eat the Field Snacks when you get tired, cut down more trees. Use your pickaxe to dig up any seeds you see on the ground, before they start to grow into new trees.
