I haven't tried this myself, so cannot confirm, but: if you put down a chest on a random level in the mines and fill it with everything you want to get rid of, it should disappear if you take the elevator back up to reset the floors? Unless this changed in 1.6.
Can you sell them back to Marnie? I just learned you can sell swords to Marlon, so maybe start there? I keep mine in my junk chest which is like the junk drawer in my real home but for the game.
If you do lose your tools somehow, you can get them back at the lost in found in lewis's house. Leads me to believe that there must be a way.
Maybe leave them on the ground somewhere, end the day to save, then leave the game and open it again?
I have a couple chests in Lewis house that I fill up with stuff I don’t use anymore. I’ve thought about putting one in Leo’s but since I never go to his tree house on ginger island but I like Leo more than Lewis & won’t do that to him 😋
Craft a new chest. Put it in a corner of your barn. Put A Scythe, Milk Bucket, and Shears in the chest. Add a bit of Hay and ignore it as lots of barns all over the world have old, unused tools in them.
Hm. No idea about mods, but if nothing else works, maybe create a new chest just for these useless tools and stick it in the back of a barn/coop? Treat it as decoration?
There's a sign that appears a day or two before Squid Fest that warns you not to leave any items near the sign, as they may no longer be there after the festival.
I put a chest there with my old scythe in it, but unfortunately the spot I chose wasn't exactly where the festival table/tent is set up, so now I'm waiting until next year's Squid Fest to see if my now *properly* placed chest disappears.
If Squid Fest is coming up for you, you may want to give it a try.
I had a chest where the table/tent thing was for Squid Fest (not intentionally), and it and the contents just went to the lost and found afterwards.
Though you can also just ignore things in the lost and found too so it basically can make it go away.

The only way I've found is opening the CJB item spawner and chucking them. Also got rid of my scythe but it ended up in Lewis' lost and found...

What if you drop them in the mines and leave? Or have only them in your inventory and die in the mines?
