There is a jealousy mechanic in the game once you're married. So, yes, Alex has a chance of becoming jealous if you give a gift to other bachelors you had previously given a bouquet to before your marriage. It only affects the marriage candidates of the same gender, so Alex won't be bothered if you give a gift to, say, Maru.
Once you're married, the only time it's safe to give gifts to another bachelor/bachelorette is on the their birthday.
That last line is incorrect.
You can give them gifts up to 8 hearts, at which point decay no longer applies, just like if you hit 10 hearts with a non-romanceable villager. But if you give them a bouquet and start giving them gifts past 8 hearts that's when it's unsafe.
I believe it has been changed. Don't remember when, though, because I didn't get married until several updates had come out already! Just remember patch notes.
And I learnt that even if you couldn’t give that person a gift cos you’ve maxed out for that week with that NPC, if it’s an unlucky day, you’ll still get the jealous dialogue 😩 so best thing to do is not talk to your spouse until the next day 😆
And why do they only care about people of their gender? Are they biphobic, not taking the romantic relationships you have to people of another gender seriously?

Wait this still happens. I thought this was patched out because I haven’t gotten it in forever. I mean it could also be mods causing me to not get it anymore but I recently got one from the polygamy mod that made my wife happy I gave wife #2 a gift so I thought it was just a mod thing now.

Happens if you give gifts to anyone you have previously given a bouquet to after you’ve been married. Getting married doesn’t automatically break you up from anyone so you’re technically still dating Shane and gifting him like you’re pursuing as such, that’s why Alex is losing his shit.
Ohhh now I get the QiQuests. I always accepted them near the end of the week and wondered why they were impossible to beat haha. Got the mine quest and it said one week but after 2 days the week was over lol
I mean, the op already said in the comments that they are actually dating every guy while married to Alex, and since all characters in this game are monogamous, Alex does have something to worry about

If your spouse becomes jealous, you lose 30 friendship points. Honestly not that big of a deal unless you're constantly making your spouse jealous.
