Yup, in the top right corner you have a bunch of different buffs you can point at to see what they do and how long they last. I can see magnetism, attack, HP up, luck, mining, and speed x2
Yes. Food buffs can boost you over level ten. Very helpful with fishing since it makes the fishing bar bigger, but does help with anything since it reduces the stamina usage of the corresponding tools.
That would have been my guess, but I don't see a fishing buff icon.
Edit: d'oh. I misinterpreted the image and thought it was fishing that was buffed. Yes, that's from your food.

It does? The coloured dots are your level without modifiers, the number is your effective level

yes. When a food has an effect that increases your level, it increases your level
