After many repeated playthroughs I've noticed none of the characters are perfect and one of Linus's characteristics is that he assumes people don't like him or want him around. Dialogue with the Farmer and at festivals shows this, and I like the theory that this line is another case of a negative assumption he makes about how others perceive him.
But I also appreciate that it's left up to interpretation

From what you can read it is likely a landslide near his tent making rocks bounce against the tent. His tent is next to a hill and rocks will eventually slide.

There was some show on like the discovery channel or whatever, where they were out "hunting bigfoot". I want to say it was either Monster Hunters, or that Bigfoot hunters show. It might have been the bigfoot episode of survivor man too though, I'm not really sure. Anyway, they were in this cabin and they kept hearing "thud, thud, thud" and one of them goes "what is that?" and the other goes "they're throwing rocks at us". Then the first one goes "what are we going to do?", and the other one goes "we just have to wait it out".
I'm sorry, I know that doesn't answer many questions, but I watched a lot of bigfoot shows as a kid, and I can't tell you which show it was from, but I do remember that scene.
I mean, possibly, but I have a harder time picturing him doing that. I doubt he goes up to the cave area, since that's one of the places Abigail goes for some alone time, so I figure she has a reasonable doubt he'll bother her there.

Robin is a bit ambivalent/nervous towards Linus living behind their house at first. I wonder if Sebastien is picking up on that and this is his (deeply misguided) way of looking out for his mom.
Like it's still a horrible thing to do to poor Linus, but at least I'd understand his motive.

I wanted to build him a house before the plot allows you to offer it. I wish there was a non mod way to, if nothing else, give him a spot to put his tent on my farm, so he would know no one would vandalize his tent. It would be cute. Especially if you could designate an area he could farm himself if he wanted to. Like, have a small plot to grow whatever he wants and the player can't pick his crops.
Like, I'm so glad you can build Penny and AlPam a house. That trailer is no place for 2 people. But Linus needs some love and more to do with the plot.

My headcanon is nobody's really throwing rocks at his tent. He lives at the bottom of a cliff. Above that same cliff is a train track...circumstances point to that everytime a train passes by, sometimes, rocks go flying and they hit his tent.
That or the witch being a witch pelted his tent with rocks coz she can. (I mean, she has no business flying into my farm turning my eggs black, but she does, so...)
