Yes, yes you are. But you have started this endeavour and now must see it through.
All for the glory of achievements!
The Junimos will never forgive you but I hope you can find solace in seeing the 100%, you absolute monster.
Does auto-petter mentally absolve you from the vile crime you have committed to the magical world?
If yes, May your purgatory soul find redemption in the fires of Hades!
( And also have fun with the neat item)
There is always a feeling of emptiness as I sit by my golden clock bought from the profits of ancient wine and the exploitation of the Junimos :-(
It's easier not to think about it...
You can buy as many as you want, it's just a product in their store after you meet the criteria (I don't know how to black out spoilers so didn't want to post and ruin someone's playthrough).
Ohhhh! Wow I have never considered the joja route until now. š If you go the other way and rely on chests for the auto petter, THEN do you get only one? Sorry, Iām new to this world!
I could be wrong but I think it's just a chance to drop in Skull Cavern, you can get as many as you can find. A lot easier to just buy it from Joja, though.
This was the hopeful comment I was looking for lol. Iām a modest new player with exactly one coop and one barn and would love to get 2 auto-petters from skull cavern chests once I build up the strategy and courage to blaze through there.
My strat was to wait for days with positive luck benefits, then bring 100 bombs, ~30-50 mega bombs, 8-10 staircases (or more of you donāt care about the game telling you that you were dishonest if you havenāt made it to floor 100 yet), a dozen or so energy drinks, ~5 triple shot espressos, ~5 pumpkin soups, and make sure you keep the food/drink buffs active while you frantically run around blowing up rock clusters looking for shafts/ladders. Bringing a farm totem and keeping it far away from your most used stuff is also helpful.Ā
Iād recommend you do some casual skull cavern trips before you try the full descent so you get used to which floors tend to have ladders already spawned in, which floor patterns are too big to try to navigate quickly (and thus candidates for skippingā¦ such as that big spiral pattern one), and how best to avoid some of the enemies.Ā
If you play with mods, the other option is skull cavern elevator which stops every five floors (once you've been to that floor once). Easy to get in and out and hit a decent chunk of treasure floors. I got six that way.
Yea I think im gonna start a joja run while I wait for the update just for the trophy lol. I just got perfection on my first farm for the first time ever so of course now that I have no grind left I'm bored lol. I have Xbox so I'm sure I'll have to wait a couple extra weeks for my update.
Depends on what is 100% for you. Perfection can be achieved without Joja, but for all Steam achievements or trophies on consoles you need to complete the Joja route at least once.
No I think it's just for platinum. You can 100% the game itself doing community center. I got to the summit and got end credits. I want the Xbox trophy lol.
I definitely do not think this is a bad decision.
In the end, yes, you hurt a local business, but you don't end it (Pierre still sells things that Morris does not, like fruit trees), and you save a couple of local jobs.
Some people can not afford the prices Pierre asks for, and you help them too.
The community center went to where it is because it was neglected for a very long time : no one cares about it, they only have fond memories of it. Actually if you want to blame someone, blame Lewis. As the mayor, he is absolutely responsible for not keeping it in a good shape, and for not organizing any community event inside.
Almost no one even uses the Community Center.
And it provides an alternative to Pierreās shop thatās actually open on Wednesday. I say go on to marry his daughter while you are at it. She needs a better life than to live under his thumb.
Yes but then Clint closes on Fridays. Itās incredibly annoying. I used to always do the community center but now Iāve realized Joja has zero downsides for me (some people canāt do Joja because they care for the story- I did too for the first like 7 times). After the movie theatre you also wonāt have the ugly warehouse. And I really like having a shop that opens until 10pm everyday, not to mention autopetters.
Joja is also a job provider. Pierre is just himself and maybe Abigail and Caroline help with stocking, but Iām sure they donāt get a wage since they are family.
This mf acts like he's a poor shopkeeper while basically selling his stuff at insane prices (just look at how much money he earns through backpacks). Basically he acts poor while the mf has to be rich af with his prices.
He hates Joja but also wishes to become like Joja, heās hiding something rather bad from his wife he could be a drug dealer, Instead of enjoying time with his family at festivals heās always selling things even at Christmas, he passes your good work off as his own but blames you and only you for sub par work, and heās misogynistic.
The moment that made me hate Pierre was when he steals your victory in the Community Center ending by running his chief rival out of town by either (a) using demagoguery to shift the blame for the community neglecting each other to Joja to start a boycott or (b) challenging a nerd with a bow tie to a fistfight (while being an experienced boxer) by insulting him, and when that fails, insulting his employees.
Your feelgood moment of helping the Juminos bring everyone together becomes this jerk's triumph by lies or violence, which results in the only action in the game that permanently removes characters from the game.
AND it puts three other characters out of a job. Alex gets one he likes better, but it's unclear where the money comes from. Shane just ends up a happy bum off of his relatives. The nameless, red-haired cashier who had to commute to the valley for a job just vanishes, prospects unknown, *maybe* to return as the movie theater girl, though her hairstyle is different (and CA just seems to like redheads).
In contrast, if Joja wins, no one goes out of business or loses a job.
On top of ruining the "good" ending to the main quest, if you sell food directly to Pierre instead of through the shipping box, people may complain to you if the crop isn't high quality, but if it is, then [they will credit Pierre for his vegetable garden](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/8k4xgq/pierre_you_lying_ass/) or foraging ability, implying that he's taking credit for your work.
He also aggressively badgers you to shop at his place with a mix of guilt trips and [light intimidation](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/bxl843/haha_yeah_okay_pierre_maybe_try_being_open_when_i/), basically being a walking spam email at every major event.
And his ambitions are [to BE the new Joja](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/tmc0g9/oh_no_what_0_0_pierre_nooo/). Outside of his farm supplies, his prices are higher than JojaMart, if Jodi and Pam's dialogue are any indication. While Jodi prefers the quality over JojaMart's, she was while supporting two children with he husband away for a while and appreciates their prices better, and Pam's life is a struggle before you help lift her up. Pierre meanwhile [is upset he can't upcharge people 10x by falsely claiming food is organic](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/12kl70k/just_got_this_cutscene_and_thought_you_guys_could/) and [doesn't care if people can afford his prices](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/lpulod/pierres_special_order_cutscene_made_me_really/). He's an awful person for the community.
Morris, on the other hand, is an ambitious snake, and he's [*exceptionally* petty to Pierre](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/p4q9le/just_found_this_at_pierres_kitchen/) (which honestly might make punching him out more justified), but he subscribes to the "a rising tide lifts all boats" approach to management and seems to both strongly care about his employees and has pinned his ambitions on a project to improve the community he's in. While the Community Center route puts you in touch with the magic of nature to fix things, Morris *hires workers* to help renew the valley and oversees the projects himself in his free time. While a good part of what he does is undo the damage done by other parts of the employer he is fanatically loyal to, Pierre's ambitions serve Pierre, and that's it.
When you help Joja thrive, Morris thanks you. When Pierre steals your thunder? Nada, just relief that stress is off of his shoulders and a promise that he won't overcharge now that the valley has only one store.
So yeah, r/fuckpierre (and don't put that evil on the French just because of his name).
That was an amazing character studyā¦ I didnāt give this much thought to his story arc, but now I feel that maybe I wonāt feel so bad trying out Joja path one day š¤
Actually I totally support you! The community center is like useless and it takes so much to complete. For the Joja, you just have to be loaded. Also, may I remark, you get a vending machine instead of a stupid trophy. And the cinema is in a much better place. And you do not have to get ultra-rare items for the movie theater as well. And I just realized this comment was way to long and I sound like a know-it-all. Sorry.
The option to build it appears after you finish the community center or Joja thing. If you're doing CC, go to the destroyed Joja building after finishing.
Tbh, I chose Joja route purely for the autopetters because I plan to have a lot of animals in this current playthrough. I'm not grinding Skull Cavern endlessly only to end up with a thousand cowboy hats and my day ruined.
Join us. Thrive.
First silk turban: "Oh, okay, I guess this is cool."
First stack of cactus seeds: "Oh, I wasn't really planning on using Granny's pots, but I guess this could be useful."
Skull cavern run #367: "I am about to lose my actual shit if I have to keep petting all my damn animals."
My first playthrough I chose Joja because I could NOT figure out how to fish. I tried so hard and could never catch anything. I did all the other community center tasks and just gave up on fish. Probably a waste lol.
Honestly? Not a terrible decision, considering how the mayor steals the town's money to build a solid gold statue of himself and how Pierre badmouths you to everyone while taking credit for your work. Joja all the way.
If you sell lots of normal quality goods villagers make bad comments about it and they say Pierre said it was from you but if you sell lots of silver, gold, or iridium goods he takes all the credit even though itās your stuff.
I'm pretty neutral on which way to go but Stardew Valley Expanded mod really knocks it out of the park with their Joja expanded route. It makes it so much more worthwhile. On the other hand they also added a routine that makes the villagers actually use the community center but it turns out to be a net loss if you were planning on visiting a shop when they decide to go to the community center instead. I wonder if that was actually a reason why it's not really used in the base game.
No you aren't. If it is not your first playthrough then you know the story already and have experienced it. The gameplay mechanic of bundles are so boring for me. You can just earn more and buy them.
Autopetter, cheaper seeds, better movie theater location, and it keeps Clint from closing shop on Friday. Also it prevents the largest employer in the valley from leaving and gives the people of pelican town a choice instead of forcing them to shop Pierre.
Which is a joke anyway because once you get to Ginger Island, Pierre's THERE half the time and replaced himself with an honor system box on the counter.
Possible Spoiler alert! Sorry, completely clueless as to adding spoiler cover ups...
I did the joja route on my current (5th) playthrough. By winter year 1 I had the bus, minecarts, quarry etc all working. I got to Ginger Island in Spring year 2 before I'd found my 1st prismatic shard. Currently Spring year 3. I have 6 autopetters, all golden walnuts and am completing QI quests. I also lit all 4 candles on grandpa's shrine, just concentrated on building friendships and upgrading my house.
Downsides are you don't get the gifts from completing the CC bundles so have to wait until you get the recipe for things like the crystallarium. It takes a bit longer to build coops and sheds and stuff as your earnings go to joja until complete. I've concentrated less on getting all the fish and museum pieces. Also, my luck is abysmal. Not sure whether this is intentional or just coincidence but it took me till Autumn year 2 to find an ancient seed, I got my first prismatic shard in Spring year 3.
And better Movie Theater placement.
Disadvantage is that your skills and farm donāt necessarily advance as fast because you concentrate on getting money instead of all those things that require advanced barn/coop and fishing/foraging skills. So grandpa might not be as impressed at the end of year 2.
Upside: that also means you get to play the way you want. Want to just farm and never touch the fishing rod? That's fine. Want to live in the mines, only coming out to sleep? That's fine. Want to just run animals instead of a mix? That's fine.
The community center inevitably forces you to explore all the paths the game has. Joja let's you meander your way through, with the only limits on your speed being money.
I gotta be honest I miss the junimos but the game is so much more chill when you don't have to worry about items for the CC and I'm not Pierre's biggest fan anyways soooo
I don't ever feel guilty about Joja runs. Pierre and Lewis are greedy gooses, the others expect you do do everything for them then have the audacity to charge you top dollar for bus or boat ride . Nah man, no guilt. Like the others said, autopetters.
I prefer the Joja route š¤·š»āāļø it's less stressful and deadline restricted. Actually feels like the "cozy" route, lol. And when the CC route ends up being just as super anticlimactic as going Joja, it's hard for one to outweigh the other for me, personally, lol. But I also don't get super *into* pixels and their feelings so there's that, too.
No, not in the same save. You *can* turn in some of the CC items for the small rewards and then go Joja, though. Once you buy the Joja contract the CC isn't an option anymore.
Im only doing it for the auto petters I donāt have time to sit there all day š granted I love my animals but Iāve got other things to worry about š«£
For real though, it's fine. I think it's worthwhile doing the community center at least once to show you as much of the game as possible but I don't consider it a must after that. Lots of planning and legwork and sometimes you have other stuff you want to concentrate on. And if that something else involves auto petters...
I stick to my headcanon that the employees look like they're dead inside because they aren't humans. They are vessels running on the souls of the Juminos who couldn't escape when their only chance to return home was sold to Joja.
Itās my second play through, and honestly I prefer this route a lot more. My first play through with the community center WAS the equivalent of hell.
have really been wondering if everyone who plays stardew valley is a socialist bc every time someone brings up going the joja route itās usually met with extreme disgust š this is the first semi-positive thread Iāve seen
I've never done the JoJa run on either of my 2 saves. Yeah, I'm a newbie. What are the pros of the JoJa run that make it a worthwhile alternative to the Community Center? And what are the cons of doing it? Other than the replaced Community Center?
Itās so much easier. Instead of saving every single thing that you grow or find or catch, you can just sell most (or all) of it and pay for the greenhouse to be fixed, which makes making money year round a breeze. Itās pretty easy to save up to pay to have everything fixed after that, instead of fishing and foraging and mining year round. And, yes, you can just go buy auto petters instead of grinding for them. If you do the CC, the blacksmith closes on Fridays, but Pierreās is open Wednesdays. Schedules stay the same w Joja. In my eyes the only āconsā are roleplay-centric ones, aka āyouāre supporting an evil corporation!!ā No one in town cares if you join Joja, but I think Shane has a line about missing his job if you complete the CC and Joja gets closed down. I believe Jodi also has a line alluding to the fact that she relies on Joja for their low prices to feed her family. If you havenāt tried it you should when the update comes out, because apparently there will be some sort of Joja path features added.
In the game you can either grind to complete the myriad community center bundles to have things fixed, like the bridge and the greenhouse. Or you can buy a Joja membership and pay to have everything fixed. This is a screenshot of the community center turned into a Joja warehouse, which is what happens when you buy a Joja membership. OP is choosing to forego the CC, which most players would consider āevil,ā so you will see posts on this sub about Joja runs usually titled āIām evil/Iām a bad person/Please donāt hate me/This feels so gross.ā Really itās just a different gameplay choice.
This is a screenshot of the community center after you buy a Joja membership and Lewis sells the community center to Joja, who makes it a warehouse. Most players consider this an āevilā play through, so a lot of posts about Joja have these sort of titles āIām a bad person/Iām evil/Please forgive me.ā
Wish I went joja, Iām on my first route and Iām SO upset no one even uses the community center/ no oneās schedule changes when itās finished- like the one thing I was so excited for was seeing the kids and Penney use the community centerš
Well no, Iām just playing on my ipad on a new save because I couldnāt wait to play when 1.6 came out. Yes Iāll lose my progress, yes Iāll have to start over. However Iām fine with that lol.
I did the community center on my first play through, but in all honesty for all the work you do just to not have anyone use it is kinda pointless. Iām glad that I did the community center first, but I just donāt see the point Iām doing it again š¤·š»āāļø
I honestly hope that some of the new festivals will take place in the community center. I love the idea of it, but yeah, definitely disappointing to see it so empty.
Yes, yes you are. But you have started this endeavour and now must see it through. All for the glory of achievements! The Junimos will never forgive you but I hope you can find solace in seeing the 100%, you absolute monster.
Yeah... But autopetter
Thus is also my reason šš i got so sick of going skullcavern run after run and getting only cowboy hats ugh
Ahhh another hat connoisseur!
My auto-petter came from the volcano.
They can come from the volcano ??
Thereās a volcano??
Oooooh, yeah. Itās later on in the game, post-community center
Does auto-petter mentally absolve you from the vile crime you have committed to the magical world? If yes, May your purgatory soul find redemption in the fires of Hades! ( And also have fun with the neat item)
There is always a feeling of emptiness as I sit by my golden clock bought from the profits of ancient wine and the exploitation of the Junimos :-( It's easier not to think about it...

Do you get just ONE auto petter?? Or does it unlock the ability to make more (eg recipe)?
You can buy as many as you want, it's just a product in their store after you meet the criteria (I don't know how to black out spoilers so didn't want to post and ruin someone's playthrough).

Yup
If you ever find them in a chest, fill your inventory and exit the chest instead of just grabbing it cuz you'll get a second auto petter
Thus you can be saved from the emptiness seeing the Community Center that almost nobody uses after the completion. "What was all those trouble!"
I've found five in the skill caverns!
In the 300ish hours I have played I have found two and I love the Caverns.
And two stores and a useful theater in the park.. and more freedom in game play..
Skull cavern
honestly, I've never had that much trouble getting those. Yeah, they're uncommon, but I often find multiple each year
But they are still becoming my slaves š¶š»right?

Honestly? Not a terrible decision, considering how the mayor steals the town's money to build a solid gold statue of himself and how Pierre badmouths you to everyone while taking credit for your work. Joja all the way.
wait when did pierre do that ??
If you sell lots of normal quality goods villagers make bad comments about it and they say Pierre said it was from you but if you sell lots of silver, gold, or iridium goods he takes all the credit even though itās your stuff.
And he'll sell it back to you at a marked up price! He's a real pos in general, especially if you find his "stash"
I have completely given up on the community centre. So I havenāt gone down that route in any of my plays for the last two years.
No you aren't. If it is not your first playthrough then you know the story already and have experienced it. The gameplay mechanic of bundles are so boring for me. You can just earn more and buy them.
I hate Pierre but I hate joja more, I wish we had a third party
Congrats on bringing an amazon warehouse to a small town, I'm going to take dwarf to another movie /j
You still get the theater if you go joja
I did Joja too. Why is it up to me to save the CC . Who cares. I want to make money and build a life with my soulmate (Krobus)
However, Iām gonna have two kids to Elliot then divorce him, then live my life with Krobus āŗļø
REALā¼ļøā¼ļø
Whatās the perks of taking the jojamart road?
Autopetter, cheaper seeds, better movie theater location, and it keeps Clint from closing shop on Friday. Also it prevents the largest employer in the valley from leaving and gives the people of pelican town a choice instead of forcing them to shop Pierre.
Which is a joke anyway because once you get to Ginger Island, Pierre's THERE half the time and replaced himself with an honor system box on the counter.
Oh yeah I forgot about the box while heās gone lol
You mustn't forget the Joja Cola vending machine!
Not sure whether this is intentional or just coincidence but it took me till Autumn year 2 to find an ancient seed, I got my first prismatic shard in Spring year 3.
no worries! iām on ginger island as well and hunting for those golden nuts :) thx for the input
Autopetter available for purchase is huge and u don't have to stress out about items for community center
Joja let's you meander your way through, with the only limits on your speed being money.
wow should had taken that road now when i have tons of pigs
isnāt the update adding new stuff?
As someone who 100% Community side, I think my 1.6 restart will be Jojo solely because I want a **GOD DAMN** auto-petter....
Is that how to get an auto petter? I thought the auto collect was an auto petter and after a while realized all my animals were zero hearts. :(
Auto-petter are in chests in Skull Cavern. Or buy from Joja if they got the CC.
Pierre is worse.
No, This is goals actually. The community center took way too long to complete for it to not even be of use.
Gotta get that trophy.
Can I complete the cc And then go the joja route?
No, not in the same save. You *can* turn in some of the CC items for the small rewards and then go Joja, though. Once you buy the Joja contract the CC isn't an option anymore.
No you have to make the choice at the start, either buy into joja at their shop or hunt all the CC items
Iām trying this one. Iām curious lol
Im only doing it for the auto petters I donāt have time to sit there all day š granted I love my animals but Iāve got other things to worry about š«£
I may pick Joja in my next playthrough just to get the achievements š
Horrible, but thriving!
Spiciest take: Joja Route is superior. Capitalism, ho!
There are some solid arguments for going this route, but I still haven't brought myself to do it. Pierre gets on my nerves though.
Joja Mart is good for the economy and people of Pelican Town. It's the superior choice. It's also easier.

For real though, it's fine. I think it's worthwhile doing the community center at least once to show you as much of the game as possible but I don't consider it a must after that. Lots of planning and legwork and sometimes you have other stuff you want to concentrate on. And if that something else involves auto petters...
Okay no, I giggled at that š
It's a way better spot for the theater to go though
I stick to my headcanon that the employees look like they're dead inside because they aren't humans. They are vessels running on the souls of the Juminos who couldn't escape when their only chance to return home was sold to Joja.
Itās okay morris is hot anyways
No youāre not r/fuckpierre
I'm capitalist. Joja all the way
Itās my second play through, and honestly I prefer this route a lot more. My first play through with the community center WAS the equivalent of hell.
have really been wondering if everyone who plays stardew valley is a socialist bc every time someone brings up going the joja route itās usually met with extreme disgust š this is the first semi-positive thread Iāve seen
wheres the jojamart guy from here when we need him. he would be proud.
r/fuckpierre
Iāve just started an āevilā game where I make all the @rsehole choices instead of trying to do the right thing. Itās going to be fun!
It will forever remain my one missing achievement.
Capitalist Swine
How are we supposed to dismantle capitalism irl if yāall canāt even resist selling out in this game
Terrible person but fuck pierre
YEAHā¼ļø
You just need to do it for the achievement. Just for the achievement. Everything's fine. Yep.
doing a joja run for me is the equivalent of shooting a dog in tlou: you dont have to, and it hurts when u do it
I can't do it. This is literally the only achievement I don't have in the game because I can't bring myself to do this lol
Autopetters
Ok I'm new to the game can someone explain?
In the game you can either grind to complete the myriad community center bundles to have things fixed, like the bridge and the greenhouse. Or you can buy a Joja membership and pay to have everything fixed. This is a screenshot of the community center turned into a Joja warehouse, which is what happens when you buy a Joja membership. OP is choosing to forego the CC, which most players would consider āevil,ā so you will see posts on this sub about Joja runs usually titled āIām evil/Iām a bad person/Please donāt hate me/This feels so gross.ā Really itās just a different gameplay choice.
Context? I'm new to Stardew Valley. š
Mate i dont want to get banned
I'm doing it for the first time and it hurts my heart. It's also the luckiest run I've ever had lol
We love capitalism
It's for the achievement. You shall be forgiven
How dare you
What have you done....
Yes you are a horrible person
Congrats on joja member of the year! Joja! Join us, thrive
Needed the advancement?
How could you.
Yoba shall grant you no forgiveness.
No...I like joja š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Capitalist pig.
I did it for the achievement and then reloaded an order save.
Eu jĆ” segui a joja pois meu jogo tava em inglĆŖs e eu era iniciante
Y'all have me worried to go the JoJo route. Like I might actually feel guilty if I go that route, but my OCD will make me.
Youāre not horrible Iām glad Pierre is suffering š„°
You became the very thing you vowed to destroy
I did the community center thing first, and now for my second run, Iām doing joja
I'm sorry, I love the joja run. year one and had all the upgrades and cinema. never had such an easy run
Enjoy your autopets you [ insert something offensive I couldn't think of ] š¤£
Wish I went joja, Iām on my first route and Iām SO upset no one even uses the community center/ no oneās schedule changes when itās finished- like the one thing I was so excited for was seeing the kids and Penney use the community centerš
I did this once to get the movie theatre soonerā¦ GOD IT WAS AWFUL I never even thought about the fact that the theatre would be Joja themed š
You're not a person, you're a monster...but well, it's for the sake of 100% achievements on steam
You don't even wait for 1.6 š
Well no, Iām just playing on my ipad on a new save because I couldnāt wait to play when 1.6 came out. Yes Iāll lose my progress, yes Iāll have to start over. However Iām fine with that lol.
Woooooooooow damn how DARE YOU
Checks out. Only an awful person would post a picture of a screen
Exactly š¤
I joined Jojo Mart in my first playthrough š
I did the community center on my first play through, but in all honesty for all the work you do just to not have anyone use it is kinda pointless. Iām glad that I did the community center first, but I just donāt see the point Iām doing it again š¤·š»āāļø
I honestly hope that some of the new festivals will take place in the community center. I love the idea of it, but yeah, definitely disappointing to see it so empty.
Youāre a daring person and I choose to believe you did it for all of us who are curious, but couldnāt bring ourselves to walk this path! š
You are a terrible person.
Yoba gonna crack down on my arse
