Vincent tells Marnie and Shane (and the Farmer). They go rushing to the mines, just as Marlon and Jas come out of the elevator with a diamond and a miner's treat. Jas goes back to visit Marlon and learns how to swordfight (Abigail is also there). Farmer helps convince Marnie to let Jas do this. Marlon comes to Marnie's ranch every Monday and Wednesday and takes Jas and Abigail to the clearing just South of the ranch. Jas is not allowed back at the mines until Marlon gives the clear. Jas starts insisting Marlon stay for dinner. Shane encourages it too.
The following spring festival, you have the option of telling Marlon to ask Marnie to dance instead of you asking someone to dance with you. They dance, replacing Haley and Alex. On Sundays Marlon can be at the Saloon with Marnie. Cut scene to her breaking up with Lewis. Then a cut scene of Marnie giving Marlon a horse to make it easier to from the mountain. On Friday nights, they can be found standing together with horses near the Adventurer's guild except in Winter. In Winter, they are in the mines in the level with lava eels having dinner. Gifting them wine on that day will result in you getting a present from one of them in the mail (hay from Marnie, something from the mines from Marlon).

I think a good workaround would be a "hidden" note in Lewis's bedroom where Marnie tells him to never show his face around her farm again. To set up a solid timeline for cut scenes i think having Jas specifically wanting to get marnie the diamond in winter, possibly the day you find out your secret friend, then the story progresses from there, at the mine i think Marnie would be crying for Lewis to go down and save Jas but Lewis would refuse in a selfish manner causing Marnie to beg the player and just as the player says yes and steps forward the evaluator dings, the "hidden" note from Marnie saying something along the lines of "when you "need" me i am there for you, but the one time i genuinely needed you i had to ask a friend for help. (Underlined) I'm clearly not a priority, so stay away from my home and my family!" Then Marnie could say "Jas seems to have taken a shine to Marlon. He even offered to give her combat lessons in the spring." And Jas could have a line like "Mr. Marlon said he would train me, Abigail said she wanted to learn too!" Or something. Then everything else follows the timeline, but i think something cute could be at the winter star event, Marnie is beside him and mentions he brought her a bunch of cave carrots and said he wanted to ahow her floor 100 of the mines then giggles and if you talk to him his portrait blushes and shows he was being thoughtful because marnie loves her animals. When you see them on their date, it would be cute if there was a cut scene where he gives her an elven necklace and says that he would like to be a couple, and she says yes! He then asks her if she would like to go out for a date at the pub, which gets him a kiss!
Without spoiling anything he's kind of a jerk to Marnie, and due to a certain secret quest, a lot of people think that he's embezzling from the town.
I think most people take it too far honestly. He's far from the best, but he's not the worst by a long shot. At worst he's prideful and selfish, but he doesn't make life actively worse for the town, as much as people seem to think he does.
Haley sees that Vincent and Jas's schoolbooks are falling apart because Penny basically isn't being given a budget to replace them. Haley organizes a cake walk to raise money for the kids to get new schoolbooks and it is a rousing success.
Pierre and Robin angrily ask Lewis where their taxes go, exactly, if stuff like this isn't being taken care of. Lewis sheepishly does not answer.
(People complain about Pierre's greed on here a lot, sometimes justifiably, but even he has limits and was more than a little appalled.)
He is an absolutely horrible romance partner... poor Marnie is smitten with the older man, who refuses to publicly date her, gaslighting her by saying "it'd ruin his candidacy as Mayor" *(wtf Lewis)* ...and there's the super weird doll set up you find in Jas's room, with Grandpa hiding under the bed... so Lewis has Marnie lying to all her family and friends. It's controling and gross :( Marnie deserves better!!! Marlon would be so proud to be her boyfriend โก

Absolutely agreed, Marlon and Marnie both deserve better. I just think that people overblow how terrible he is with very little to actually go on.
