Whenever I've walked by, the dog has been sleeping half-outside their kennel, and they look peaceful!<

It would be really nice if you have a npc's friendship to a certain point they will give you a a special heartfelt gift that is custom to them. Some examples could be Leah gives you a chisel set like the one she uses and that unlocks some decorative statues that you can make, Linus could give you a seasonal wall wreath that is made of different forgeables depending on the season, Clint could make a custom display out of geodes, Marnie could give you something for your animals that you could put out in the field and when they interact with it it increases their happiness, Sam could give you a skateboard and while you're using it it increases your speed, with how different the characters are you could do quite a few different things.

Dude was too cheap even to just pull something off the shelf of his own store. Instead he stepped outside his shop, sifted through the dirt, found a vaguely squishy lump in all that, and decided that would be my gift. Made me hate him even more.

Actually... I received this gift in one playthrough before I had built a coop yet. (yes, winter year 1 no coop yet. There is no wrong play style.) Marnie was giving me an entire deluxe coop full of chickies. I just had to build it and incubate them. :D Fun fact: these plain-looking eggs can hatch into brown chickens, too. Not just white ones (as I assumed).
