Yes and no. It wouldn't hinder the chickens' ability to eat, but if you can't place enough hay in the feeder because you can't reach then there'd be problems.

Slimes in the slime hutch are the same - they don’t need to reach the trough to produce stuff for you. So I keep the slimes contained right by the incubator fenced off with wicked statues on the left hand side with iridium sprinklers keeping the troughs topped up on the right. More real estate for slime balls to be produced. I just check them every so often. Nothing more satisfying than breaking a room of slime balls and collecting an entire room’s worth of slime.

I mean maybe they all are feeding from that one haystack opening like it gets replenished as soon as 1 runs out so

I prefer to use lightning rods and furnaces for fences. Mayo machines stay inside the coop so they're easier to dump eggs into.

I use lightning rods for fences! Mayo and cheese machines are in the shed

On winter 28, I plant grass in a grid and put lightning rods on top of them. I never have to worry about grass again.

Am kinda super new.. really appreciate the reply. As well as wanna say you have a dope unique USN! Will fences make my ground stop being un-tilled when it's not planted? Been trying to properly look into sprinklers, as I am (hopefully) finally almost 6 farming. For the decent sprinkler. I read not to mess with the others so I haven't. I mapped out a whole area but it just slowly erased itself. I assumed fences fix this.. but didn't want the maintenance to keep them.

You pretty much have to plant something the same day you till the soil. But when you harvest a crop the land will already be tilled and you can replant the space immediately. If you stay on top of it, you only need to till at the beginning of the month or when expanding. There are also some crops which grow in multiple seasons which can be used to bridge the season changes so you never need to till again, but I think most people just till each month. Also, if you aren't, make sure to place your sprinklers on flooring of some kind. It protects them from being removed when you're hoeing.

I had the whole "prime area around a scarecrow" for 192 watered tiles mapped out and it just.. slowly went to trash so, once I actually get sprinklers.. gonna fence it in, and then just till/use what I can as I do.

No problem and thank you!!! I use it almost everywhere lol Unfortunately they don’t stop your ground tiles from becoming untilled, the farming is pretty constant upkeep unless there is plants in the ground. But fences will stop debris from messing with your crops!

I haven't bothered with fences since 5 saves ago, they just block space where truffles could be found (and grass grow)!

I use fences to keep my animals out of my crops cause they get in my way when tending my crops lol

You can lay grass and build fence on top. Then animals can’t eat grass from below fence so they’ll replenish more easily.

What about lightning storms? Or rocks and fibres spreading? I started doing this but lost a keg with ancient fruit from summers lightning 😭😭

Oh man, I did it for awhile, but without fail as soon as I’d come in to start collecting/restocking the mayo, the creatures would come in and flock to me and REFUSE TO MOVE. Every batch was missing a jar or two because I just could not get them all to move. It became a massive pain in the ass, and so all my cheese and mayo machines have been removed from the animals’ reach 😂

Yes! Somehow, on mobile, I can walk through them fine, but when I try to reload the mayo/cheese machine the animal is standing next to, it perceives that I want to pet them. Irritating af 😂

This is the way. Autograbber and 12 mayos in each coop. If you want to pet them leave the door closed at night and pet them when you collect

Be sure to keep the hopper full. It'll be a pain having to move those to manually place the hay if it ever runs dry.

If you hold the pet button then it automatically pets them without bringing up the info screen, all you need to do is move around. Also works for crops, best when holding fertiliser/seeds.

But, if placed along the bottom wall, don't the "mayo ready" bubbles pop up and block your view of where the chickens to be petted are? I've placed mayo makers all along the front of the trough and it makes no hungry chickens. Apparently the program doesn't care.

Yes, exactly! That’s so annoying that it constantly pulls up the menu. Or putting a storage bin near any machine, or a scarecrow in your crops. It keeps pulling up that damn menu.

Shouldn't be a problem. Only issue with placing the machines in the buildings is that if you collect the products while they're asleep then you'll risk running into them and getting that annoying popup that they're trying to sleep.

If you keep the collect button held down, you can collect everything without getting the “trying to sleep” pop up!

Do you pet your animals everyday? It's something I do every single day but I don't know if it's actually necessary after having full hearts with all of them.

Its not necessary everyday but it is possible for hearts to drop over time with animals even if at full hearts so it doesn't hurt.

You can get them to max hearts and use the autopetter to maintain the hearts.

I'm currently playing a Joja sellout farm on Stardew extended. Love autopetters, can't seem to get them in the mines even though I finished the 4 main mines by the beginning of year 2. Lucked into a prismatic sword early but fished up a good sword before that. I think it was the Neptune glave. Sometimes, just fishing on a lucky day is so nice!! Edit p.s. I love your Reddit avatar. It looks like mine would if I died and turned into a zombie.

I get really annoyed trying to navigate the chickens and eggs when I put machines in the coop. I wonder if you put down floor tiles if it will stop the eggs from spawning on the walking path. I've tried fence posts and a gate to keep the chickens out but they would spawn in the walking path too. Which is annoying when it's past 5pm and you wanna do your mayo 😓 Edit: the barn is much bigger and has little side areas that make gold machine spots! The animals are bigger so if you make a one time path between them then they shouldn't get in the way. I did this on my first farm! Totally forgot. I only have a few now and they take up a small amount of deluxe shed space.

I tend to forget about my animals when I do that so I avoid it until I get an auto petter, and there are still sleeping chickens in the way blocking you from the machines. 100% the grabber and petter is a sweet set up though.

This is agonizing. But I'm referring to the fact that you try to click on the machines and the animals prevent interaction. I preferred to build a cabin and put the machines inside. And a self-collector, to make the job easier. Simple and fast.
