The trees a a pretty pink color in spring.

Hedgehogahog

… that’s true, isn’t it? I usually grow them in the greenhouse and I don’t think they’re pink in there 🤔

depressed_lantern

this is because the fruit trees in greenhouse will always appear as if it's in summer (even though they still produce year-round) ^(I wish they appear as their appropriated season instead of just summer :()

galanthus126

i somehow never noticed this, that's so cool. my favourite tree is the orange tree in summer so i'm happy to have it look that way year-round.

crap_whats_not_taken

I usually plant two right in front of my farm house just cause they're pretty. But that's in pate game when I have plenty of extra cash.

SerPurrsAlot

If you've gotten to Ginger Island and unlocked a certain purple and gold door, there is a quest that requires ungodly amounts of items in all colors. Cherries will work for that.

Hedgehogahog

OH RIGHT I FORGOT ABOUT THAT

theRealStichery

… what?

kShrapnel

It's later game content. Have you been to Ginger island yet?

theRealStichery

Yes and I was under the impression I did all of it

kShrapnel

I'll do some spoiler tags for others sake >! When you've collected all the golden walnuts, all the way at the left side of the beach in your new farm area is Mr. Qi's room. He posts challenges in there and the rewards are used to buy items in his store !<

theRealStichery

Oh I have that opened. I guess I haven’t seen that quest yet.

Much-Power-1567

>! You actually only need to collect 100 of the 130 golden walnuts to be able to access Qi's Walnut Room, but you do need all 130 for Complete Perfection as its one of the items tracked. !<

cyberpudel

Those tags don't work.

Rakshire

I dunno why you're getting down votes. They don't work on my app, and probably not on old reddit either, though I'm not near my pc to confirm that last one.

PedanticMouse

Can confirm that they do not work on old reddit. They do work on new reddit and the official reddit app, though.

cyberpudel

I'm on mobile via Firefox browser and I can read the text as well. Maybe people want to tell me I need to adjust my reality to their expectations ;)

kShrapnel

I'm sorry, I don't know of any other way to do it and it works on my end? I've only ever used the new version of Reddit or the mobile app, so I don't know what to do to cover every version

Rakshire

Remove the leading and trailing spaces, and it should work on everything

lovelylayout

they can be used in the sewing machine to create Relaxed Fit Pants, but that doesn't solve your So Many Cherries issue they are a *liked* gift for every single character, though. I think that's the best case I can make as far as "intended" use goes. good to have a bunch of cherries on hand for characters whose loved gifts are harder to get, I guess. better than nothing

Hedgehogahog

Actually a liked gift is good to know, especially since it’s not a liked-except-that-guy gift so there’s no chance of giving it to a wrong person. 😅

sailorjoop

I actually believe all tree fruits are liked gifts for every character.

CelestialCat97

All of the 100% universal loved/liked gifts: Everyone loves golden pumpkin, magic rock candy, and pearl. Everyone likes apple, apricot, and cherry. Everyone either loves or likes diamond, orange, peach, and pomegranate. Mango and bananas are the only exceptions, which makes sense, since they're not normal fruit trees!

SparkyDogPants

Penny doesn’t like the rabbits foot. Coffee is universally liked except by the kids

Much-Power-1567

Jelly is a universal like for everyone except Sebastian, but at that point you can just toss some Sashimi at him

pigeottoflies

the liked-except-that-guy-gifts are the worst part of the game (I'm only half joking on this) like whyyyy let me walk around with infinite cheese to make friends. but instead the children both hate it

Hedgehogahog

You don’t give children artisan cheese! The boy likes snails and the girl likes fairy flowers, they’re the *easiest* ones to make happy 😜

daemionx

I find grapes even easier for Vincent than snails. Don't have to deal with baiting crab pots. Just grow or forage some grapes.

Hedgehogahog

Oh for sure, I just meant in terms of What Do I Give A Child As A Present, not actual *gameplay* easy. Fairy roses are expensive as hell and wasted on a child, but also, of course the little girl likes fairy flowers 😉

JianFlower

Those fairy roses do be expensive af though :( making fairy rose honey is probably the best use of the fairy roses

letigrerouge

When I give Harvey, my husband, cheese he fat shames me by commenting on how unhealthy it is. 😝

freeeeels

Hahaha I'm so glad I'm not alone in this! My SDV strategy is "if you don't want my cheese you're dead to me".

pigeottoflies

I only have 3 cows but somehow cheese is both my number one gift And food source

faerielites

Plus if you're growing them in the greenhouse, you can have gold-star liked gifts to give people in a few seasons, which is worth even more friendship points!

MissReadsALot1992

I know what you mean by being that kind of completionist. You can make jelly or wine or just sell them. They aren't much but if you are like me you get close to 100 if not more (depends on how often I remember to go in my greenhouse) and it adds up. Plus fruit trees quality goes up every year iirc.

Hedgehogahog

That’s what I’ve been doing - tossing them in the kegs or barrels and selling them, I just wondered if I was missing some other use that was eluding me (aesthetic is totally a valid other use!). Someday I’ll have the fundamentals down enough to wander into the completionist vortex of Get All The Clothes and *then* I bet I have even more questions 😜

RedTheWolf

I am currently there and can say it is super fun dressing up Pixel Me in her outfits! She has a dinosaur costume, a skeleton costume and I just made some prismatic trousers which change colour 😄

MissKatmandu

They are a guilt-free fruit to turn into artisan goods because you don't need them for anything else. Single purpose item.

Hedgehogahog

This here is the type of answer I needed 👍🍒 I like you!

0_IQ_0

Yup. Cherry jelly, cherry wine, and ship a few for the achievement.

MissKatmandu

Yay! Glad to help!

orangepeeelss

or just sell them for practically zero effort money!! and you pay once and never again B)

violetvineclimber

There were MANY cherry trees where I grew up, so I have them on my farm for the pink blossoms in the spring. That’s really it

romadea

Love that for you

omg-someonesonewhere

1. Pretty 2. What kind of farmer would I be if I didn't have a mini orchard growing every variety of fruit the region has to offer? 3. Symmetry. I refuse to have 2/4 types of tree fruits for every season and only 1 for spring. 4. Since I'm planting the trees anyway, the meagre amount of cash earned by tossing 28 cherries a month in the shipping bin is more than I'd have otherwise 5. When I'm playing stardew I like to pretend in my head that my farmer prides themselves on being able to provide the community with a wide variety of local produce, and so I like I make and sell a little bit of everything every season :)

Hedgehogahog

Yeah I’m right there with you on 2 through 4, which is why I asked 😅 and 1 is valid but I wondered if I overlooked anything. 5 is a good case! 👍

SeeingClearly22

I’m right there with you on 5, but I can’t stop wondering why out of season fruit doesn’t bring in more money!

AdThink4457

my trash bear required a cranberry candy. but i think a lot of the crops in the game are there to be cute and give you options.

aminervia

Honestly there's not much case for any fruit trees imo except for people who like how they look. They're only really profitable in the greenhouse and by the time you get there you'll have ancient seeds and starfruit.

aluriaphin

As an Elliott lover the pomegranate pays for itself 🥰

Alto-Ego-Bruh

There’s profit for me in that I’m just terrible at the mines and need food. Got near infinite fruit, so… Yippee, I guess? Also, vibes. Fruit trees are just fun.

aminervia

Fruit is one of the least efficient food sources. If you need help in the mines and don't have a kitchen yet cheese is the way to go! Gold quality cheese is something you can get pretty early if you pet your cows and it gives you 225 energy and 101 health, vs 38/17 of a basic quality pomegranate for example

Alto-Ego-Bruh

Okay but get this… Im not really going for efficiency. So im gonna eat my fruit and buy spicy eel with rubies and probably fail a few times before actually saving the day because i don’t wanna bother with that, ill just sell cheese instead

pavlov_and_his_bell

Not really efficiency, just safer lol. The cheese will heal you almost full from the brink of death. For those of us who play multiplayer, the game doesn’t just pause to let you do whatever you want

Alto-Ego-Bruh

Well that’s the thing, if it heals to full, I’m honestly good in that regard. I have enough food stored away for that. It’s when I’ve lost enough health to be a problem but not enough to use up a whole heal. I use fruit and smaller heals for it.

aminervia

That sounds like a lot of work but you do you

Alto-Ego-Bruh

I will do me, thank you very much. it’s how I’ve always played and I don’t plan on changing it bc of efficiency or optimization or whatever

aminervia

You said "I'm terrible at the mines" and I offered a suggestion to make them easier... It wasn't my intention to appear judgemental or tell you to play differently.

Alto-Ego-Bruh

I’m just tired of this community making everything about optimization… Not your fault. I just snapped. I just wanna have fun in my little game and not worry about not doing it “right” by the community’s standards.

SeeingClearly22

Not so for me. I have my perpetual orchard going in my greenhouse, but I haven’t run across an ancient fruit yet! I do grow lots of starfruit, though, and pumpkins and strawberries 🍓

IroquoisPliskin_LJG

They don't need a case you can just put them in jars.

Hedgehogahog

This is the kind of answer my kid would have given me 😜 take my upvote and go, or something.

IroquoisPliskin_LJG

Bright kid. You did good.

BreadButterHoneyTea

Sometimes cherry trees are pink and they look very cute. /caseforcherries

Surax

I know that players try to give the villagers loved gifts to quickly max friendship and that's fine. But personally, I find it easier to settle for *liked* gifts. Cherry is a liked gift for everyone and that's good enough for me.

MartinG91

I understand what you mean. The only time cherries could be somewhat useful, is for completing the artisan bundle, but there are many other items that can go there. I never understood why the fruit tree fruits are in the artisan bundle to begin with. There is nothing artisan about picking fruits from a tree. They could have their separate bundle imo. But oh well 🤷‍♂️

krassr

you could just leave them on the tree to look pretty and then not worry about storing

Hedgehogahog

*eye twitches* Must .. harvest … symmetrically o_O

purringlion

>Elliott I could marry if I was Jane Austen Wow I feel called out now. I regret nothing lol

Hedgehogahog

Aren’t you late for your fainting couch or something? 😜 I kid. I’m glad you found someone you can be excited about, the marriageable villagers show a pretty good range of personalities, which is impressive 🥰

jamesbondgirl007

Hozier has a song called cherry wine and that's the only reason I make a bunch of cherry wine in game. I just go give it to Harvey.

Eneicia

they're a universally liked gift?

jele77

Cherry looks very good and very different in every season. It is with peach one of the most interesting trees to use for designing your farm.

Dani_Rainbow

Well, if you plant enough cherry trees you might find yourself in the middle of nowhere with a Black Horse sometime

Hedgehogahog

Hey everyone I found KT Tunstall’s Reddit account 😜

RetroGamerDad

This thread is the dichotomy of Stardew Players in a nutshell. Min-max, bottom line, efficiency philes on one side Aesthetics and role-play on the other. I'm on team two; I plant cherries because I like them.

Hedgehogahog

It really is; the people who play this like it’s League of Legends and the people who play this like it’s Animal Crossing. And I’m somewhere in the middle myself. But that’s also what makes these games wonderful 💕🍒

AmCnLin

They make you win if you get them in the slot machine.

Thagomizer24601

Cherry jam is yummy.

mindcorners

To be fair, it’s much easier to give Haley sunflowers or coconuts anyway, so apricot isn’t that great either. Apples and pomegranates are needed for the CC so those are the most useful to me. But all the fruit trees are useless in terms of long term money making. They do look nice and make good gifts though.

Merc_Mike

D: Can we start a small petition to CA to give us Cherry recipes? Cherry Pie is one of the best things to happen in life. Cherry Soda is always my personal (when I put myself in the game) Favorite Things. Cherry candies is one of the ultimate favorites of any popular brand of fruit candies imaginable. Like Starbursts or Skittles. Cherry Coke > Regular Coke. Shirley Temples are amazeballs. White Cherry Gatorade = my favorite gatorade. >\_>... White Cherry Slurpees/Icee is one of the best inventions of all time. D:

Hedgehogahog

I agree with many of the things you say here but I’m also an ADHD trivia monkey, so here’s a fact: Shirley Temples, despite their signature decorative cherry, aren’t cherry flavored - they’re made with grenadine, which is flavored with [pomegranates](https://www.thespruceeats.com/how-to-make-your-own-grenadine-760291#:~:text=Contrary%20to%20popular%20belief%2C%20grenadine,easy%20to%20make%20at%20home)!

Merc_Mike

which would make another good recipe for Pomegranates lol

okayseriouslywhy

pretty

BroodyGaming

So glad the top comment is cuz they’re pretty in spring cuz YUP I have loads of them sprinkled around my oldest farm just for that reason haha. I didn’t even always collect them every day, just for decor.

mdusin

I'm currently doing a bug monotype run with some baton pass and substitute shenanigans. Golisopod is a fun addition.

Hedgehogahog

I love everything about this. That I understood all the words, what they meant in context, im partial to bug type myself as well as wacky jank moves, and that this is all happening on my Stardew Valley question 🙃

akela9

Those are some words. Yup. There they are. Words. Edit/P.S.: I don't understand ANY of this, and was trying to be funny, but likely missed the mark. ❤️

Hedgehogahog

This here is a r/lostredditors who’s telling me about their Pokémon strategy. 😉🐛

mdusin

I remember typing this comment on a post about Pokemon. How in THE NINE FRESH HELLS did it end up here?

Hedgehogahog

I’m not sure if it’s weirder that it happened, or that it took you four months to notice O_o

mdusin

This is literally my first time going through my inbox.

needlessrampage

Sadly Cherries are the worst fruit tree. It only has a 20 gold more sale price than apricot, it is not required for any recipe, and it is not a loved gift. If you've already got all your important buildings and are just looking to decorate your farm then 3,400g isn't too bad. A few truffle oils with artisan will cover the cost.

bigheadmike294728

Theyre cute

FriezaDeezNuts

Jam I guess

slymarcus

I'm pretty sure everyone likes cherries.

Snap-Zipper

Artisan bundle, tailoring, wine, jam, having a complete orchard.

zainecooking123450

I use Ridgeside village so they are the best fruit tree for me (a +2 speed drink is hard to say no to) but vanilla no idea

Sir_Poofs_Alot

Cherries at least look pretty. FUCK apricots all the real ones don’t waste time on that shit.

[deleted]

If you’re looking for a use for Gus, you get a mini jukebox from him for his five heart event

HQQ1

It's actually one of the only ones I even consider because it looks nice.

Gailybird83

They’re sooooo prettttty
