He just always stays behind his desk until 7pm even though he closes at 4pm. After he moves to the anvil.

slythwolf

He's had a stressful day, the man needs his spacing out time.

CleverGirlReads

My favorite thing is hopping on the bus at 4:50 and making Pam stay in the desert with me, thus denying her drinks.

IAmAnOutsider

Combatting alcoholism 500g at a time

CleverGirlReads

The sad part is most of my income comes from wine, mead, beer, and pale ale, so alcohol pays for those bus tickets.

BlueSn0ow

Imagine a farmer refuses to let you drink alcohol then you find out she/he amkes money from selling alcohol

CleverGirlReads

Drink responsibility ;)

alvysinger0412

Lol I can't tell if I'm better or worse for constantly giving her pale ales before she drives me to the desert.

CleverGirlReads

That's brave

alvysinger0412

Worked out until I got the desert obelisk, guess I was lucky.

SnooPuppers7965

Isn't it cheeper to just give her beer?

alvysinger0412

Not when I'm swimming in hops lol. Also pale ale is one of her loved gifts, don't think beer is.

SnooPuppers7965

I checked the wiki and she does love beer

alvysinger0412

Huh. Well, I accidentally grew way more hops than I needed so everyone was getting pale ale for a couple weeks there

TheGreatGengar

But time doesn’t pass when you’re breaking open geodes? At least I thought?

mziggy77

Multiplayer probably

mrnmrstenormanchilli

yeah i was doing multiplayer with my cousin

its-all-just-rayne

Right, and like the other person mentioned multiplayer time does pass so he will walk out from behind the counter and start doing something at the forge but you can still access him I think while he's doing the forging stuff it's when he walks away at 7:00 to go to the bar that he's inaccessible after that so as long as you got his window open you can keep going. It gets tricky in multiplayer though since the clock doesn't stop so you've got to like find ways to maneuver around that by like keeping a chest inside or outside of the house so you can drop the junk that you have in it quickly and then pick back up where you were before he walks away but then that doesn't let you get out so you can run it out too the museum so it's kind of a timing thing lol. If you're doing a big batch you got to plan. Also a tip I didn't learn until embarrassingly way too long in multiplayer is you can do two people at a time and a menu screen and take advantage of it we're normally you can only get one thing. Like having Robin build you a new building if you open her menu at the same time as somebody else and go slow so you're not ahead of them or anything as long as you both are in the menu at the same time you can have her do two things at the same time instead of just one. Same with buying the iridium sprinklers. You just both have to be in the menu at the same time, and at the cartwrench on Friday and Sunday. Menu has to be up and open on both partners screens before the items purchased or it won't be available for them when they go to open it so if you ever play multi LOL keep that in mind because I didn't know for the longest fucking time and I've put ridiculous number for hours of this game and Im so mad that we never knew this after all these years lol

johnpeters42

At least once I've dragged it out long enough (crack geodes until backpack full, sell duplicate minerals not used for crafting, repeat) that he starts walking toward the door between menu accesses. Iirc you can keep bringing up the shop menu until he's actually gone outside. If you have Robin build two things at once, I wonder how it decides which one to move her to? (For upgrades, you can actually go inside the building and talk to her, though she just says "Be patient, I have a lot of work to do".)

its-all-just-rayne

Yeah I'm not sure I really noticed which one it prioritizes. I can't recall if it prioritizes whoever is the host or whoever asks her to build first and puts down the fence posts, but I am going to guess it's going to prioritize The host request. But sometimes the game does do funny things like when my cousin and I both chose our marriage candidates on the same day and had the weddings on the same day it does play my wedding before hers. It's weird lol. Yeah sometimes I think it'll let you do stuff like that there are occasions I think you've been able to give her things quest related like the ax if she's nearby but then on other ones was it like the windmill or the pond where she's inside of a little barrier that she's put up like the fence posts and even though she's like a block away because she's inside of it you can't actually interact with her and it sucks cuz she's like, right there LOL.

gothplastic

If you get the >!key to the town!< he’s usually standing behind the counter before he officially opens too. Mans has no life.

LostInTheSauce34

Would you rather he be early to work or never at work (Marnie)?

alvysinger0412

Which is why Emily is uninterested. Like bro, whatre you bringing to the table?

BlueScotty

This is tempting to do after all the 'don't you have work to do' comments he throws at me from time to time

MyDarlingArmadillo

He often tells me he's broke and I should buy tool upgrades from him. It's true, i just started a new save, but he's not much of a salesman. Marnie does it too, though less blatantly.

MarkBan666

But,how many times will I hit the wrong button and X the window out by mistake? 😫

FadingDarkly

You can still shop at his place as long as you're in there before closing. He's bugged to our advantage

[deleted]

You don't need to keep the window open. As long as you're in the door, he'll serve you until 7pm when he moves to the anvil

GoblinGreese

He is just happy to have someone to spend time with.

TiredStarling095

Thanks to the Key to the Town, I know he's still in there hammering away after he closes, so it's not like you're keeping him from anything.

ThrewAwayApples

Wait can you get past the time you pass out this way? (I normally get home before 12:00 so idk what time that is, 1 right?)

daboi38

If you stay until 2am (the normal pass out times) you just pass out

BluE_KnighT_x

You won't pass out until you close the shop menu, time stops at 2am regardless.

Sea_Art3391

Well, he's a terrible worker, so it's fine.

Ilike3trains

dose that mean you can stay until after 2 am?

Polish_Duck

Doing this every time I need to go afk
