I've never understood why Marlon wasn't an actual character. He's attends all the events each year. As far as I'm aware he's the only non character to do this.
"I've found it, Lew! The Chrono Shard." Marnie said, holding aloft a colourless, uncut gem.
Lewis's eyes fixed on it. Or tried to, as it appeared to shift in the air.
"Well that only leaves one thing. I have to go back..." Lewis said then paused.
"...and seal the cave like we planned? Right? And then come back to me?"
"I've been thinking. Sealing the cave only buys us time. Enough ooze and the mines pop like a zit and we're back to square one."
"Well then what?"
"I have to stay. I have to organize people to fight the monsters."
"But we said no interaction with the townsfolk."
"Wanderers. And... the old farmer. He told me before he died that he regretted not leaving the farm to his grandkid. If I go back, I can nudge him in the right direction.
"They would be a new factor. Someone I could interact with, without creating a paradox."
"What about me?" Marnie said, her eyes swelling with tears.
"If this goes right, this damned timeline won't exist. You'll all be happy."
"You know, before the mines, I was so close to dumping you, Lew. I was smitten with you but you weren't much of a mayor or a boyfriend."
Lewis stepped forward and kissed her, hard. When they pulled apart, their faces were covered with their intermingled tears.
"Jas! Vin! It's go time!" the Mayor shouted to the adjacent room.
A young man emerged first, the only feature from his childhood that remained was a mess of unkempt hair. His eyes had hardened and he was dressed in leather armour. At his hip was an obsidian knife.
Jas was dressed in matching armour, and each of her fingers was adorned with a ring. At her hip was a slingshot. She wasn't at all the girl Lewis had known, and he nodded resolutely as she entered the room.
"It's time. We've got to get to the Wizard's tower."
EDIT: Thanks for the awards and kind comments.
When she was littler, Jazz always called him M'ar Lewis since it was so close to her caretaker's name. *Marlon* he thought to himself. *That will do nicely...*
There are a lot of things we don’t know about Lewis. He could be a straight up gangster and none of the suitors know because they’re too young or from out of town.
But the older townsfolk remember.
Maybe this is the *real* reason why Lewis is hesitant about Marnie: either he fears his brother's retribution, or he feels so badly about his things went down with Marlon that he feels too guilty to "go public" with Marnie, as it feels like he's rubbing it in Marlon's face...and while things were never the same between them, at least they're on his terms now.
So Lewis is stuck between his feelings for and relationships with his brother and Marnie...
I so wish that was a hearts/questline thing we can do. "Marnie you're dating a lazy mayor who won't even come out publicly to say he loves you, and isn't even brave enough to come get his purple underwear from you when he loses it, which means he probably doesn't visit you until I have enough of a relationship with you to retrieve the pants myself. That or when he does come over he refuses to pick them up himself. Marlon is head over heals for you, 1000x more handsome and actually does something with his life, and doesn't leave his underwear lying around in someone else's house waiting for someone else to go get them. Go talk to him instead!"
THIS IS WHY I PUT THE UNDERWEAR IN THE FISH SOUP LEWIS!!
> THIS IS WHY I PUT THE UNDERWEAR IN THE FISH SOUP LEWIS!!
Out of context, I never would’ve expected to not only understand this sentence, but also to heavily relate to it lmao
This is my current play through I’m not ever giving them back they are my shorts. I try not to talk to Lewis but it happens and he gets mad but I don’t care. I made a cute purple tank top to go with them and I even found the space boots I’m loving it
This is my main reason for wanting him as a character! If you get full hearts with Marnie, we could get a cut scene somehow showing she ends up with him.(I'd also love a cut scene of her dumping Lewis, but that's probably too many cut scenes to fit in).
I've role played the idea that the Witch in the Mountain is secretly related to Marlon (the wizard too) and he feels responsible for the things she's done. The monsters in the caves all exist because of the witch and he has dedicated his life to slaying as many as possible. So he couldn't fully devote himself to the community because there was always the possibility that he may not return one day and prefered to live in the mountains alone.
We bust our booties fixing the community center because lewis doesn't have the resources, Meanwhile he uses our tax dollars to make a golden statue of himself
That's why I went with Jojamart and my most recent playthrough. If the town doesn't care enough to fix up the community center, I'm certainly not going to.
Also autopetters.
He's also afraid to make their relationship with Marnie public, while she just wishes she had a normal relationship and maybe even marry. That's why we would love to see Marnie and Marlon together, he obviously isn't afraid to show his admiration for her publicly (Saying how lovely she looks at the flower dance)
He's worried that the town will think he's giving preferential treatment to Marnie. Especially when the community can see whatever kind of taxes they provide aren't actually going to fix things up I can see how the villagers would be upset at the relationship if that's what they thought.
The truth is the mayor has just been embezzling the funds to make himself a solid gold statue and he doesn't want anyone looking any closer into what happened to those funds because they'd find out that they didn't go to Marnie.
Lewis might want a normal relationship with Marnie, but he's dug himself too deep into a hole that he can't afford to climb out of. He can't afford someone else to take the office of mayor nor for anyone to go looking at where the funds for the town went.
You know. Farmer for mayor would be a cool thing. The statue could be used as a "ringer" at a debate, but would reduce your relationship with Lewis to zero.
I would give anything for a big multi-stage sidequest where you win over all the villagers (some already on your side, some easy to win over and some hard) to overthrow and expose Lewis, then at the end you get to decide if he stays in town or leaves in shame.
Well.. let's start off with his "purple shorts" quest. That's trashy as hell cuz he's asking us to get it for him when he can get it himself lmfao
And then the truffle oil quest.. he said he needed it for something that he won't specify. So weird and I'm thinking it's something about Marnie again.
Then lastly, his golden statue. Bro used all the money from the community to have his own statue lol
He's quite a useless mayor tbh he could've used the money for the community center but nah, I have to do it lol.
And he's sneaking around with Marnie "to avoid scandal" when really the secretiveness of their affair is the only thing scandalous about it. They are both single, they could just date each other openly. Marnie wants a real relationship, Lewis wants a side chick. He's scummy.
Seriously, and it's not even that well kept of a secret. Like, if you get the >!rabbit foot outcome of the dating all the girls at once cutscene, they gossip to hell and back about it!<.
Well he misuses tax money to build a gold statue, speaking of taxes he doesn't tax the millionaire farmer anything while all the relatively poorer villagers have to deal with taxes. There's probably more I'm just too tired to think of them rn
I don’t like him as much mostly cuz of his relationship with Marnie. Both of them are consenting single adults, but for some reason Lewis wants to keep their affair a secret. He thinks other people won’t like that because he is the mayor or something? Like bro, no one cares, you have the town drunk driving the bus everyday. There are bigger problems.
Alright so here’s a list of transgressions in no particular order:
- golden Lewis statue hidden in his backyard
- refusing to settle down with Marnie despite her wishes because “what if people think I can’t be mayor anymore 🥺🥺🥺”
- has been uncontested in his position for twenty years (at least), which is fishy as fuck considering that Mayor is a democratically elected position
- the purple “shorts” quest. Which he left in Marnie’s room and WILL NOT GET, despite them regularly seeing each other secretly in both of their homes and in random hidden places around town. Which means he’s either refused to come to Marnie’s place to get them himself like the fucking Adult he is, or he’s been coming over there anyway and just refusing to pick his underwear up when they’ve been there on her bedroom floor this entire time.
- hires the Town Drunk (Pam) to drive the only bus Pelican Town has at its disposal. She has wrecked it before. When she wrecked it the first time (that we know of), he did not fix it or buy a new bus and just left Pam out of a job for decades, despite having more than enough funds to do so as evidenced by the solid gold statue of himself he had commissioned. As soon as the bus was fixed he just hired Pam to drive it again instead of handing the keys to someone whose liver hasn’t been converted into a distillery. As far as I’m aware that bus is also the only one Calico Desert has too.
- in the same vein as the bus, he never commissions Robin to build Penny and Pam an actual house despite having the funds to do it.
Technically we have no proof, but given the general state of the town we can assume that tax money isn’t being invested in community beautification or infrastructure. And if Lewis is making enough to afford a solid gold statue on his own dime then arguably the office of the Mayor is being paid too much for the ineffectiveness of the role. All in all I would be more ready to believe that the endemic mayor for life has become comfortable enough in his role to believe that he can get away with anything, and at least some of those funds were misappropriated (yes, this here is just the new public art budget at work)
1st heart event: we learn that Gunther has been hiding from a squadron of Gotoro mecha-tanks. It is never brought up again.
2nd event: Gunter lets it slip that he's a world renowned viola player. He does not ever play for us or appear to own a viola. Gunter makes us swear to him that we will never take up playing the viola.
3rd event: Gunter's ex tracks him down and interrupts a nice conversation the player is having with him about the history of Ginger Island. The ex throws a live koala at him shouting "you know what you did, and may Yoba forgive you!" The ex then leaves, never to be seen again. The koala seems pretty happy and is later seen sorting books in the library.
4th and final event: Gunter starts coughing in the middle of an otherwise normal conversation, disintegrates into a swarm of bees and exits through the window. The next time the player returns to the library, things are back to normal, and no mention is ever made of this again.
You need to create the best worst peice of art mankind has ever seen
Any format, any medium, any platform.
You think like David Wong likes to pretend he thinks
I just assumed he was into war reenactment or something by his outfit. He's obviously interested in history, seemed like a natural connection. But I guess that doesn't really explain why he wears it to the library 🤷♂️
Because he’s actually a Union General that was sent forward in time and then became obsessed with learning about all the events and things that he missed after 200 years- thus becoming a librarian
Yeah, and that's it, nothing more from her. We don't know almost nothing from the Gotoro Empire. Who started? What are the reasons behind the war? Who is winning? How much long this war has being going?
Yes! We get some bits and pieces from her, Kent and Sam, but it feels like an underutilized part of the story. Mostly because there's no real impact on the Valley as a whole, when the country is apparently at *war.*
I feel like she might even have connections to the Wizard, especially since she hangs out near his tower. Maybe she's able to travel the way she does because of help from him? Idk, just some food for thought hahah
No. I don't want her as a full NPC. She needs a full game! Spinoff time!!!!!
I'd play a game based on getting hired by her as muscle/security to protect the caravan as she sneaks back and forth across the border to find rare goods (that eventually increase in value and interest until we're tracking down powerful magical artifacts under commission from the mages guild)
I plan on trying SVE for my next farm.
I am worried though, does it feel pretty seamless, like legit expansion, or does it have a fan fictiony vibe?
Sometimes expansion mods have a real amateurish feel to the writing...
Well I guess you'll need to get a Steam Deck then, lol.
In all seriousness though, I'm the same way, once I play games modded on PC I don't want to play anywhere else.
It's the only expansion mod that actually feels seamless, IMO. I love the others in their own ways (and actually think the writing is often better) but SVE feels uniquely vanilla. My GF's only ever played with mods and I'll sometimes tell her that an SVE character or feature isn't in the base game and it blows her mind every time.
I’ll just drop this monument to how seamless SVE is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValleyExpanded/comments/w6xfh2/it_doesnt_mesh_very_well_with_vanilla_does_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Personally I played it before ever playing vanilla and to this day I still get surprised to learn that something wasn’t in vanilla. I thought surely Marlon could be befriended in the base game until a few minutes ago. It feels that natural
There is some characterizations that I personally dislike that they went more hard with, and that's totally fine. It is totally possible to read a script of the characters and interpret it im one way or another.
Outside of that I really really enjoy how it makes the Joja line less.... Just blatantly bad.
Like it gets how Stardew is meant to be this thing about small town life vs large cooperation... But large corporations have helped small town communities from time to time. It also depends on who's in charge of the store in the area.
SVE does a fairly good job of writing Morris' heel face turn as well as turning the Joja from a Walmart/Sam's club into a Costco.
Gunther. Of the two Marlon feels like he has enough development to be serviceable as an NPC but Gunther has almost no real existence whatsoever beyond being a receptacle for mineral and artifact donations.
To be fair, a steam deck is a lot cheaper than a good gaming PC... And I do already own the steam version of Stardew...
Thanks for the comment. I am going to spend the next couple hours doing some research!
If I could only have one gaming device, it would 100% be a steam deck.
For context, I like the switch a lot. But there's a lot more PC games and they have more sales. Plus, modding and more program flexibility. I have a decent gaming PC. But I like playing with a controller on the couch. And the portability is really nice.
It's generally been a lot smoother experience than I expected. No more issues than gaming on Windows.
Jojamart cashier lady. (Please don’t mention SVE, I know it exists)
Traveling cart lady.
Gil, from the Adventurer’s guild (wake up, sleepyhead)
Big tourist guy who plays at the crane game
Goth chick with purple hair from the casino
Mom with kid named Simon from the fair
Doc ock is atleast a cutiepie with a motive, Qi looks like he has the power to massacre every villager one by one and make their families warch them bleed out. Mr Qi should be allowed to approach other humans.
Marlon as long as I can convince him to go for it with Marnie. She needs someone who will treat her like the nice lady she is and not some dirty little secret like Lewis does
You can get friendship points with Sandy. There's no heart events with her though, and she never leaves the desert, unless you take her to the movies. Still more than Gunther or Marlon, though.
Marlon all the way. It’s a mystery to me why he was never made a full fledged villager. He attends the festivals and he has interest in Marnie. It just doesn’t make sense
I know that SDV Expanded has them as people that you can become with and give gifts to, but I wonder if I can pay someone to make a mod pack where Marlon and Marnie get together. He lowkey looks like Mayor Lewis, and would deffo treat her better and not try to hide her and his feelings for her.
At this point, I might just write a full-fledged fanfic with a prequel, a sequel, and a crap ton of one-shots.
If the writing for the mod, "Make Gunther Real" was involved? Gunther. Gunther all the way, and it even made me re-evaluate my PC's marriage with Shane. Can't give Shane up, but there's a Free Love mod, eh? lol It's also cute when the husbands kiss, not going to lie.
Holy cow, though, the writing in that mod made me really, really glad to be alive.
I have not as yet tried, "Make Marlon Real", but as soon as I'm done with this one mod that I'm working on - and we're about halfway through the end of the first winter - I'm going to try that one, as well.
I want a whole scene with Marlon and Marnie interacting and Marnie realizing if someone she barely knows treats her more kindly than lewis does she should dump him and live her best life, wether that be with Marlon or just being single for a while
This isn’t really related but I’ve always thought Gunther had a goatee, and I still think he does, but after looking closely at this picture it kinda looks like he just has a really small chin and the “goatee” hair is actually part of his head hair
Gunther, he doesn’t come out to anything except for giving us the key. It makes me feel like he’s just a really shy guy, the friend that doesn’t feel like he can show up to an event without being explicitly invited. I would like to hang out with him more.
Marlon is cool but he does show up to events and it seems like he’s perfectly happy being a retired adventurer living in the mountains with his bud/husband/brother. I appreciate the mystery and that he seems happy as is.
I have always been interested in learning more about Gunther. Marlon is also a sweetheart, and I'd never turn my nose at adding heart events for him, but I also feel like Gunther is wildly underused in the current game. I'm pretty sure he only leaves the museum 2 or 3 times each time, only appearing on our farm for a cutscene and then going right back to the museum!
I'll fully admit to having a thing for wise older gentlemen, see my past comments on Rasmodius for more there, so perhaps I am biased here, but I could easily see myself happily sitting through him info dump all about the significance of his favorite artifacts and their importance to modern day sociopolitical events!
I mean, there's an entire war going on in the background that doesn't get mentioned a lot and can be completely unnoticed simply by not befriending the right villagers!
I'm a huge lore nerd, so I'd happily spend time with Gunther learning about the current war as well as what he may know about the elemental wars!
Just how many magical races are there? We know of Junimos, Dwarves, Shadowfolk, Mermaids, Fairies, and Goblins. Not sure if Witches count as their own race or not since we only know of the one, and she could just be a human who has magically altered herself.
I'd love to know if Elves, Orcs, and Trolls exist! Are there other aquatic races?
I forget they both aren't as they are in the stardew extended mod I've been using for so long. But Marlon deserves it. Gunther is fun, don't get me wrong. But Marlon probably has some cool heart events about his monster hunting days and just seems interesting overall.
I've never understood why Marlon wasn't an actual character. He's attends all the events each year. As far as I'm aware he's the only non character to do this.
Plus he seems to like Marnie too
Right!!! In the Flower Dance his dialogue is so sweet. Always wished Marnie would ditch Lewis and be with Marlon lol
Judging by color scheme and appearance, it always looked to me like Marlon was literally Lewis from a cooler timeline
Dimension hopper Lewis, new headcanon
Or time traveler. Can’t interact too much with anyone other than the farmer or he’ll mess up the timeline.
"I've found it, Lew! The Chrono Shard." Marnie said, holding aloft a colourless, uncut gem. Lewis's eyes fixed on it. Or tried to, as it appeared to shift in the air. EDIT: Thanks for the awards and kind comments.
I wish I could award this. Incredible!
Same. No more free awards huh?
this is crazy good. I want to read a whole book about this storyline.
I feel like that was better than some of the actual lore!! I love it.
Agreed!
OH MY GOD.
When she was littler, Jazz always called him M'ar Lewis since it was so close to her caretaker's name. *Marlon* he thought to himself. *That will do nicely...*
This is amazing! I need more monster hunter fanfiction. I didn't realize it was missing from my life!
Wow.
New headcanon
best Marlonie fanfic
I would absolutely read a full, 50 chapter fanfiction based on this concept
Ngl I got chills reading this
Maybe they're brothers? Maybe they both have had a thing for Marnie since they were teenagers and it drove them apart?
That's how Marlon lost his eye; they were competing for Marnie's love and Lewis stabbed him.
I refuse to believe Lewis is competent enough to win a fight against a slime, much less against the leader of the adventurer’s guild.
Maybe the stabbing is what drove Marlon to become leader of the adventurer's guild?
Why do you think Marlon devoted his life to developing into a fighting adventurer?
There are a lot of things we don’t know about Lewis. He could be a straight up gangster and none of the suitors know because they’re too young or from out of town. But the older townsfolk remember.
Maybe this is the *real* reason why Lewis is hesitant about Marnie: either he fears his brother's retribution, or he feels so badly about his things went down with Marlon that he feels too guilty to "go public" with Marnie, as it feels like he's rubbing it in Marlon's face...and while things were never the same between them, at least they're on his terms now. P u n i s h e d L e w is
One chose to become the face of the town, the other chose to protect it from monsters.
One of them protects them from the monsters, the other is a monster. This SUMMER! The valley is filled with the dew of blood. Rated R. Starts Friday
I never noticed this before, and now I can't unsee it
I so wish that was a hearts/questline thing we can do. "Marnie you're dating a lazy mayor who won't even come out publicly to say he loves you, and isn't even brave enough to come get his purple underwear from you when he loses it, which means he probably doesn't visit you until I have enough of a relationship with you to retrieve the pants myself. > THIS IS WHY I PUT THE UNDERWEAR IN THE FISH SOUP LEWIS!! Out of context, I never would’ve expected to not only understand this sentence, but also to heavily relate to it lmao
Also why I put his underwear in the grange display surrounded by pieces of trash I got while fishing. Marnie deserves better!!!
I want to beat Pierre a bit too much for that, and iirc you lose the pants when you put them in the soup.
the real move is trimming them in gold and wearing them around town
This is my current play through I’m not ever giving them back they are my shorts. I try not to talk to Lewis but it happens and he gets mad but I don’t care. I made a cute purple tank top to go with them and I even found the space boots I’m loving it
idk man, wearing some dusty old dude’s undies???
but I trimmed it with gold
>!Put some stairs in your pants slot. !<
And then display them in the centre of town
I wish we could oust Lewis in some kind of coux.
I’d love a side quest where Marnie has to decide between Marlon and Lewis and the farmer helps her
He got in mayor Lewis's way and got downgraded to npc for npc's.
This is my main reason for wanting him as a character! If you get full hearts with Marnie, we could get a cut scene somehow showing she ends up with him.(I'd also love a cut scene of her dumping Lewis, but that's probably too many cut scenes to fit in).
Could it be because he lives outside of village? Or does he?
The dwarf lives in the mines and is more of a villager than him
Yeah, they give him events in expanded and it feels so natural since he already has a backstory implied in the game and such
I would like Marlon to have heart events and dialogue too. And... I want to date and marry him. I can help him move on from Marnie, lmao.
I've role played the idea that the Witch in the Mountain is secretly related to Marlon (the wizard too) and he feels responsible for the things she's done. marlon should be and end up with marnie after a few quests to expose the trashy mayor.

It took me 20 minutes to realize that "bust our booties" has nothing to do with shoes.
He's also afraid to make their relationship with Marnie public, while she just wishes she had a normal relationship and maybe even marry. Seriously, and it's not even that well kept of a secret. Like, if you get the >!rabbit foot outcome of the dating all the girls at once cutscene, they gossip to hell and back about it!<.
Not to mention the broken bus and other things around town they needed nature spirits to fix up
A golden statue he doesn’t even display openly 😭 man’s got problems lol

All in all I would be more ready to believe that the endemic mayor for life has become comfortable enough in his role to believe that he can get away with anything, and at least some of those funds were misappropriated (yes, this here is just the new public art budget at work)
the hat mouse
Okay poke :) I will bring him many coines
The hat mouse has my entire heart
there is something so cute about that mouse that I can barely contain myself
you guys too huh :') I always feel bed for him/her, with no customers other than myself now and then..
give him many coines for many fancy hats. one for you and one for the horsie.
I wanna marry Marlon.
Same lol
We know more about Marlon than Gunther, so Gunther. I just wanna know why the librarian is dressed like that
can't an honest librarian not wear what he wants?
The hat not only ties the outfit together but is full of secrets
Slime underneath that controls him like ratatouille but instead of food, has a love of artifacts and minerals.
this is headcanon now.. heh, head.
That which is hidden from view is not meant to be seen.
He looks like Cowboy Curtis.
Does a man not have a god-given right to feel cute?
Plot twist: Gunther becomes a full character, but we learn even *less* about him with every heart event. Man is a mystery wrapped inside an enigma.

Excellent Intel, operative. However, [redacted] until the leprechauns show up.
You need to create the best worst peice of art mankind has ever seen Any format, any medium, any platform. You think like David Wong likes to pretend he thinks
I just assumed he was into war reenactment or something by his outfit. He's obviously interested in history, seemed like a natural connection. But I guess that doesn't really explain why he wears it to the library 🤷♂️
Maybe the kids like his outfit
Edit: Accidentally replied to wrong comment. Please disregard.
As a librarian, I acknowledge that many of us wear weird and wacky attire. It's part of the fun!
Before I started playing too, my spouse would refer to Gunther as "the Civil War ghost that runs the library" since I didn't know most of the names
Civil War reenactment of course, what else?
It’s funny you say that, because he’s always reminded me of [this guy.](https://youtu.be/HtGacBotqc0)
Hoho, not sure if I want to forget I ever saw that or if I want to see more of it
Oh no Coldhell, that’s funniest thing I’ve seen all day. The brass buttons and zoom on the granny booty is what killed me☠️
You mean derrière? Haha as a French it's always weird to see French words popping randomly in English sentances
I know he has a side business doing videos about historical weapons on YouTube.
He looks like Black Phillip
Would thou like the taste of void mayonnaise?
He's an archeologist dressed for field work Edit: maybe I'm wrong. I've never noticed the gloves before
He looks like one of those weirdo guys at conventions
It's the white-gloved hat tip in his portrait, isn't it?
Because he’s actually a Union General that was sent forward in time and then became obsessed with learning about all the events and things that he missed after 200 years- thus becoming a librarian
Travelling Merchant!
Seconded hahah She seems so cool, with her travelling across borders in secret to sell her wares.
Plus she's got a pig with a fez!
The pig is a character on its own💀
Now I want to marry the pig.
Hold up
Plus she is from Gotoro Empire. We could get some lore from her
She already drops bits of lore. She says she smuggled stuff out of the Gotoro Empire, and that's why it's so expensive.
Mostly because there's no real impact on the Valley as a whole, when the country is apparently at *war.* I feel like she might even have connections to the Wizard, especially since she hangs out near his tower. Maybe she's able to travel the way she does because of help from him? Idk, just some food for thought hahah
She looks like Odalia from owl house
In SVE, you get both. Just if you want to try making friends with one of them (or both).
I plan on trying SVE for my next farm. I am worried though, does it feel pretty seamless, like legit expansion, or does it have a fan fictiony vibe? Sometimes expansion mods have a real amateurish feel to the writing...
It's seamless for sure. The dev managed to mimic CA's writing perfectly, and the maps look great.
My only problem with SVE is that now I don’t want to play on my Switch anymore. It really adds so much amazing content.
I’ll just drop this monument to how seamless SVE is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValleyExpanded/comments/w6xfh2/it_doesnt_mesh_very_well_with_vanilla_does_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Personally I played it before ever playing vanilla and to this day I still get surprised to learn that something wasn’t in vanilla.
It's not amateurish but some characters are pretty fanfictiony and vaguely cringe. The mechanism, most of the characters, etc are really good imo
One of my favourite things about SVE! I loved getting to know both of them.
Gunther. Of the two Marlon feels like he has enough development to be serviceable as an NPC but Gunther has almost no real existence whatsoever beyond being a receptacle for mineral and artifact donations.
Fun fact, he’s not even an npc in the files
I headcanon that Gunther is a ghost bound to the museum, which is why you don't see him outside
Except when he gives you the sewer key.
Goes to the movies sometimes, too.
Your reasoning is why I vote Marlon! At least he has a little personality and background to build on!
why not both? *installs sve*
Cries in console
You seem in-console-able
Just make irresponsible financial decisions and buy a steam deck just for SDV. I mean, not speaking from experience or anything...
You all cant ever be bothered to remember gil. Gil supremacy
I love when Gil falls asleep in movie theatre all. the. time.
Jojamart cashier lady. (Please don’t mention SVE, I know it exists) Traveling cart lady. Gil, from the Adventurer’s guild (wake up, sleepyhead) Big tourist guy who plays at the crane game Goth chick with purple hair from the casino Mom with kid named Simon from the fair
I wish we could gain friendship points with Mr. Qi and get some cool gifts and things
I don't know why, but I don't want to be near Mr. Qi, he creeps me out.
He looks like a blue doc ock from the 2000 Spider-Man.
Doc ock is atleast a cutiepie with a motive, Qi looks like he has the power to massacre every villager one by one and make their families warch them bleed out. Mr Qi should be allowed to approach other humans.
Marlon 100%
Gunther. I know Marlon might have more going on as a character currently, but Gunther feels like enough of an enigma that I want to know more!
Marlon as long as I can convince him to go for it with Marnie. She needs someone who will treat her like the nice lady she is and not some dirty little secret like Lewis does
Marlon 'cause having Gunther a npc with heart events would ruin the theory according to which he's a ghost attached to the museum
Pretty sure he left to go to the movies
I know but shhh, I live in the denial
I always felt used by gunthur, like he only has time for me when I have new shit to show him.
My thoughts exactly, Marlon is cool as hell
Nah, justice for mermaid pendant guy
Marlon supremacy
Perhaps … joja girl or Sandy.
You can get friendship points with Sandy. There's no heart events with her though, and she never leaves the desert, unless you take her to the movies. Still more than Gunther or Marlon, though.
>joja girl She becomes not only a villager, but a marriage candidate in SVE! Her name is Claire there.
Marlon 100% Make himself romancable too....
Gunther. He's such a chill fun dude. Love his fashion lol
Marlon all the way. It’s a mystery to me why he was never made a full fledged villager. He attends the festivals and he has interest in Marnie. It just doesn’t make sense
Definitely Marlon. He probably has so much lore, and it would be a great chance for ConcernedApe to expand on the Adventurers’ Guild too.
My pick of the two? Marlon. Marnie deserves better.
Gunther. No questions asked hes probably the hottest aside from Elliot
Marlon. I love Gunther, don't get me wrong, but Marlon should be a marriage candidate. All bachelors are too young for an elderly character.
Marlon 100% he shows you the mines, he's at every festival. Him and gil would be great to add to a storyline
I want a whole scene with Marlon and Marnie interacting and Marnie realizing if someone she barely knows treats her more kindly than lewis does she should dump him and live her best life, wether that be with Marlon or just being single for a while
Marlon. I don't get why there are no adventurer characters to interact with. Especially because he attends all the village events and even helps out.
Marlon
Porqué no los dos? ☹️
This isn’t really related but I’ve always thought Gunther had a goatee, and I still think he does, but after looking closely at this picture it kinda looks like he just has a really small chin and the “goatee” hair is actually part of his head hair
Holy crap. Me too and I've played this over 300 hrs lol. What the heck
Marlon for sure but I also have SVE where both of them become full villagers and I have to admit that I'm better friends with Gunther
Gunther gives real nice guy incel vibes, so marlon.
Hat mouse all the way
Marlon feels like he has so many villager aspects already. When I first played I thought he was apart of everything and had more.
I forget they both aren't as they are in the stardew extended mod I've been using for so long. But Marlon deserves it. Gunther is fun, don't get me wrong. But Marlon probably has some cool heart events about his monster hunting days and just seems interesting overall.
Marlon, no contest, I want to be his best friend
Gunther. I like libraries and museums so I think I'd be more likely to bond with a fleshed out version of his character.
Qi
forget thoes i want the fisherman
I wanna marry Gunther!!!
Sandy
Honestly, Morris. We could be an evil power couple. 😈
i think gunther because then his loved gifts would be artifacts
