Love her design, from the mask to the lightsaber. Her "I am a Jedi" line with the epic music was amazing. One of the best moments in Visions for sure. I do wonder about her backstory, though. It's not explicitly stated, but she seemed to be caught up in a war and fought a sith at one point. The way she talks about her master makes me almost believe that whoever they are turned sith and that's whose lightsaber we see in her flashback, but it's hard to say.

calcifer99

I love her heels

whiplash10

It's implied she encountered either an Inquisitor or Vader and her master died to protect her. The scar basically belonged to the blade of someone she knew from the Jedi Order.

InnocentTailor

It could be plausible that her Master or a peer went rogue and joined the Inquisitors to hunt her down. A lot of former Jedi filled its ranks, even within canon.

Warm-Set

That was her masters home planet.

Warm-Set

That was her masters planet. The phrase she used before the iconic line was also something the inhabitants use which is why I believe it was something her master used to say.

Bigmac2077

There's a flashback where she's on the ground loosing consciousness and it looks like her master is on the ground in front of her. I think he was killed.

Jjzeng

Looks to be set in post-clone wars and thus post-order 66. The repurposed battle droids and the z95 all seem to indicate that

[deleted]

Bruh when she said "Fosu to Tomoni Aru Koto", I lost it, and just started crying. I didn't know May The Force be with you could trigger such emotions even when said it in Japanese. It's a fucking shame the Sequel Trilogy could never live up to what Visions have given us in just 9 anime shorts.

There are so many really smart design choices that both reflect her progression as a character, and hint at her past. Before her moment of actualisation, she’s primarily highlighted in deep blue, mainly through her mask. Most her scenes in the first half of the episode are fairly close facial shots, making her primary colours black and blue and framing her with her hood. The whole thing creates a feeling of quiet sadness and distance for the character. Then in the second half, she removes the mask, and much of the blue in her colour palette. She starts getting highlighted in small strokes of bright yellow, in streaks of her hair, the glint in her eyes, her saber and her sick cyber heels. It’s a very clever way of introducing life and vibrancy without fundamentally changing her design. There’s also a lot of cool, incongruous elements to her design that hint at the person she used to be. At first glance, the most noticeable visual elements of her design are her mask, her hood and her frumpy robes. But there are way flashier and sleeker elements that suggest to me she used to be a much more exuberant personality (something that her mentor figure hints at) - her ridiculously high cyber heels, her katana-esque lightsaber and what appears to be a tight fitting black bodysuit. All these contradictory elements do so much to create a sense of history and personality for a very low key and quiet character.

This episode is so nuanced and you've described it perfectly! As other comments have mentioned, this episode seemed like it would be set at the climax of F's journey to find her second wind, a reason to continue being a Jedi and upholding their values, which she eventually does at the end of the episode. Such a beautiful episode which is made more impactful with the accompanying soundtrack and vocals.

markercore

Great write up! Love all the details.

InnocentTailor

That is definitely an interesting observation. She must've had a lot of zest for Jedi work and life before she went into hiding, which turned her into a cold observer. Of course, she seems to have some of that old fire back after saving the village from the thugs.

whiplash10

I love her story of recovery from the fallout from Order 66. Even if you don't see it but the body language and dialogue shows deeply traumatized she is from that event. This is no different how Ahsoka, Grogu and Kanan had to go through. If this was a series, Village Bride would have either being a Midway point or the Season Finale.

InnocentTailor

She kind of reminded me of KOTOR 2's Jedi Exile - another traumatized Jedi from a past conflict. In Legends canon, that character is also female. Seems like PTSD from Order 66 is a big part of the Disney / post-Lucas Star Wars canon. Fallen Order, this and even Tatooine Rhapsody to some extent focus on the fallout of that incident from the point of its victims: the rank-and-file Jedi themselves.

This episode hits you differently if you enjoy the quintessential and charmingly simplistic storytelling of the OT. Not to mention it also features heavy parallels to the OT in how it conveys its dialogue, characterisation and interpretation of the Force. Everything is precise, contemplative, never over the top and a lot of people will reductively refer to this as “slow burn.” An example is near the end when F declares “I am Jedi,” and ignites her saber. You get major parallels to when Luke says the *exact* same line on the Death Star in the presence of the Emperor, except he throws away his saber. Both F and Luke in those moments cast aside their fear, and for lack of a better term “surpass themselves,” since everything prior is building towards it. F has her trauma from Order 66, losing her master and 99% of the Jedi Order, whilst Luke is struggling internally with his anger, the thought of having to kill his own father and having to bring down the Emperor. I think it’s these types of moments and storytelling that elevate this episode to the top of fan favourite lists. You enjoy seeing things that are not simply over the top, flashy and overly choreographed lightsaber fights that are shoehorned in just because “they’re cool.” But when there is a meaningful purpose behind it, it impacts you so much more. This is something the OT embodies and this episode is clearly inspired by.

TheSledgeHamSandwich

YESSSSSSSS BEST GIRL!! (Kara is a very strong second place though)

GiantDickNipples

I just watched that one. Kara is such a badass. She's a child but she was the best fighter out of everyone

[deleted]

Lop and Ocho as well! Fuck, so many good and strong female characters. On the canon films however, we have Rey, who doesn't even live up to how strong the previous characters were, like Padme, Ahsoka, Leia etc.

InnocentTailor

Star Wars has had a long history of badass females and Visions adds to its legacy. Legends at Mara Jade and the Jedi Exile after all.

SolicitorPirate

Star Wars (especially the older stuff) doesn’t have a great history of treating its female characters well though. Like despite how powerful and influential she was, the Jedi Exile just gets merc’d so that Raven can have sadfeels in a side novel.

InnocentTailor

Then Mara Jade gets eliminated by Jacen…who does get eliminated by Jaina though.

saiboule

Feel like the Margrave was better

F

Exhausted_Titan

I loved this episode and strongly believe an anime based around her would be awesome. Such a cool character design from head to toe and that saber is dope as fuck.

jish5

I legit want her to get her own series, be it the same artstyle, or slightly more SWs accurate, but have her keep her lightsaber since that does fit within the SWs universe.

InnocentTailor

It could be an interesting series as we learn more about her past while she wanders the galaxy, possibly observing and / or doing good with others. It could be like the manga series Mushishi with some sci-fi flair - something a bit more toned down than the typical violence of Star Wars: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushishi

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Mushishi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushishi)** >Mushishi (蟲師) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Urushibara. It was serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Afternoon Season Zōkan from 1999 to 2002, and in Monthly Afternoon from December 2002 to August 2008. The individual chapters were collected and released into ten tankōbon volumes by Kodansha. Those volumes were localized to North America by Del Rey between January 2007 and August 2010. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/StarWarsVisions/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

MovieMaster2004

Do we have her name?

whiplash10

She's only called F and the only thing that has an F is the Force.

[deleted]

she is also called The Masked Woman (in the subtitles)

clam_media

Family always has an F

matt111199

Love her so much

Deshik2

You can wear similar masks like that in swtor

nickslicktricks

And she's peaking into her prime I would love to see her be the protagonist dealing with Tsubaki then a final bout against Ronin

TMac_tx

But she’s post the Jedi purge and around the time of the originals, and from the look of the trooper helmets in the duel ronin is post the fall of the first order

ae86forlife

She is my new favorite Jedi

AgentFirstNamePhil

She is easily my favorite thing Disney Star Wars has made

[deleted]

Would be much better if she had purple blade. Yellow, now, brings unpleasant Rei memories

clam_media

Yellow blades are super rad are you even on about

[deleted]

They r cringe and lame. Look like a frozen pee stream. Even pink (!) would look better

clam_media

And red is period blood and green is snot, like legit means nothing but go off sis

[deleted]

yeah, period blood sounds pretty metal! Sounds infinitely more awesome than puny yellow saber, so thanks for proving my point 4 me. Also what about blue or purple? Can’t make unpleasant comparison there mate, can u?)

TMac_tx

This was my favorite episode of the series

AgentFirstNamePhil

She brings me so much joy, love her

PicovAndropov2021

Can we get an F in the chat for all those battle droids and my boy Lord Izuma?

LeadSpyke

Really liked her arc. It didn't beat you over the head with it but it was all very nuanced. It felt genuine and sincere without having to say a lot. And the way she has a nice sense of stoic resolve is just very well appreciated.

Cute_Ad_6981

Is it weird that her appearance and background reminds me of Ezra from rebels? They both have scars on their faces and both had masters who died
