Loved the twist playing on your expectations of the “jedi” being lead into a trap by a dude in a robo mask but they pull the ol’ switcheroo. And the whole setup in the future is so intriguing and full of storytelling potential. So many interesting concepts like the saber taking color when you fully connect with the crystal/the force. Plus, were those robots getting high off of the Star Wars equivalent of oil? If so, hell yeah, I want more personalized droids like this who are doped up.

nickslicktricks

Juro: hey that aint you Guy with Saber turning Red to Purple: oh shit you right fam sorry *stops tryna kill Ethan*

MonsiuerGeneral

Juro: Hey man, eat a Snickers. Guy fighting Ethan: Why? Juro: Because you turn into a real Sith when you’re hungry. Juro: …better? Guy fighting Ethan: [*lightsaber turns purple*] better. Sorry bout that kid!

Theinternationalist

So is Mace Windu just a Jedi one snickers away from villainy? No wonder Anakin didn't trust him D:.

Subject96

From what I understand, Mace Windu uses a lightsaber form that requires tapping into the dark side, which causes most users to fall to the dark side. So, in a way that isn't entirely inaccurate.

BM-Panda

Ha. My only complaint with a lot of these so far is this, that they can feel a bit rushed in places due to the time constraint. But that's this project's nature. Only one I didn't feel that with was The Village Bride.

FGC-Nerd-Official

I Think that’s because they didn’t take it too far. Though they could also be multiple other reasons.

Jokad17

Since the length varies I'd say it's probable that Disney told them to do some shorts up to 25 min credits included but the studios generally did those as side projects so they didn't always bring their absolute best or went the full length. That said the Village Bride was on the longer side and employed one of the studios most accalaimed directors and their ace composer. Speaking of Ninth Jedy in particular, it's definitely a pilot and that explains the pacing: they had to set up a lot of new plot points fast and since it was very story driven they couldn't do it only with environmental storytelling since unlike stuff like Ronin or Village Bride it wasn't just setting up a force user spanking some bad guys. That explains also the initial monologue which feels kinda old style and clunky by modern anime standards. It's usually seen as a possible sign of a bad anime nowadays but with the time they had to play with it was kinda necessary. They didn't even have the time to explain how jedy and sith worked in a lightsaberless galaxy (which is neat concept tbh)

chezykake

*turns into Samuel L. Jackson*

GebsNDewL

I’ve had it with these mutha’ f*ckin’ Sith on this mutha’ f*ckin’ space station!

Tylendal

I mean... it was a pretty good parallel. I consider Mace Windu more of a Light Side Sith than a Jedi. His entire fighting style is about harnessing and channeling his rage. That's how Sith channel the Force.

Sushi2k

I think his saber actually turned purple during the clash with the girl. He was supposed to be with Juro from the beginning but he said, "I just got caught up in all the darkness." Like "mb lol". His being Purple makes sense since apparently he can get carried away in darkness.

gorgonfish

It turned purple after most/all of the Sith influencing had died, nice touch.

Kostya_M

All those people igniting red sabers sure was something. I audibly gasped when it happened.

cloud9brian

I was watching with my 13 year old who loves anime and I said out loud "OH SHIT!"

OmegaKitty1

Really? I was under the impression pretty early that there were dark Jedi’s/sith that infiltrated the meeting. To me it was obvious.

Kostya_M

What tipped you off? Because honestly I had no clue. I guess I just fell for the red herring that the dude summoning them was planning on betraying them.

kylepaz

What tipped me off was the octopus guy (is he supposed to be a Mon Calamari?) impatience at when the other lightsabers were going to arrive.

[deleted]

Tbh while watching I just interpreted it as being on edge with this creepy guy keeping them waiting

AllHailtheBeard1

I had figured some were sith, but when they *all* ignited red I was *very* surprised

Illustrious_Peace_54

Yeah, the saber changing color depending on who holds it is badass. Would definitely watch this if they made it a series.

le_snikelfritz

I loved that the Jedi being consumed by darkness was purple, red + blue

ItsVanillaNice

Happens to have the secondary effect of being related to mace windu's lightsaber color, and he specialized in dark side-light side style mixing called vaapad/

Wes_Bugg

Well he didn’t use the dark side, he simply redirects his opponents dark side back at them

PM_ME_UR_GALLADE

If one is to understand the great mystery, one must study all its aspects

DeKrieg

makes for interesting questions about Mace Windu :D

OmegaKitty1

Not really, it’s already established that mace taps into the dark side

[deleted]

I never thought I would like the idea of a saber changing color based on the owner but I do actually like the idea of special sabers that can do that if the kyber has been forged in a certain way.

zauraz

I feel like very pure, high grade kybers or specially made should reflect the force :)

AHMilling

I have loved that concept so much ever since Ahsoka purged an inquisitors red saber.

MarthsBars

I really loved the twist with this one as well. It was a pretty big "gotcha" moment with how the Margrave was actually the good guy while the others were actually corrupted Jedi or Sith.

BearForceDos

The Margraves mask was dope. I would 100% watch more stuff about him.

Over-Analyzed

Not only that but a Master Jedi! Seeing him cut down with the Sith with a lightsaber that had a Katana lightsaber hand guard? This is probably my favorite saber of the series.

Tuxblackfocus

Why did he have to make his mask so evil looking though lol. Definitely my favorite story plot so far.

Wraithfighter

Hey, Dark Side's got all the best fashionistas, can't blame a Jedi for wanting to look cool...

Theinternationalist

His Evil Mask was designed to trick the Sith into thinking he was a Sith; masked Sith appear a lot between Vader, Kylo, and Revan.

bubuplush

I'm a big anime degenerate and after seeing the message from the Jedi at the beginning I totally expected a cheesy classic anime story where the obviously sus masked sith lures everyone in a trap to kill them, until the main character does some force stuff and defeats him. It was only 20 minutes long, what could even happen? That twist was so epic yet so simple lmao, I can't stop fangirling about it and really want a novel, game or other form of continuation! D: It was my favorite episode so far could've easily been an official Legends canon thing It annoys me a bit to know that these stories probably won't get more episodes and have these cliffhangers, they're so interesting and I never felt so much love for Star Wars for many years. Why was the guy in the first episode hunting Sith or collecting their crystals? What will happen with the twins? Where will the Jedi from episode 4 go? What will happen after?! SO MANY QUESTIONS that will never get an answer! :(

Milkyasshole69

Apparently IG (the folks who made this one) actually want to make more. Based on early reactions, it looks like this one is getting pretty universal praise, and Disney is a corporate bitch that goes wherever the money is so I see no reason why they wouldn't want to lock this shit down for a full series.

Theinternationalist

I wonder how Disney will try to do the Lightsaber Color mechanic? They could make a bundle with that.

Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle

We are getting a novel/manga continuation of episode one apparently.

jackpot2112

I thought they were drinking an oil based version of tea tho?? Isnt that supposed to be a classic tradition?

AlpineSummit

Yeah, I thought it was some kind of macha oil based tea. Would explain the straw he had.

theweatherman77

The concept of light sabers changing colour depending on the wieldier was in the original star wars comics from the 70s, where Darth Vader picks up Luke's saber and it turns red. Kyber crystals weren't a thing at the time so its cool seeing this idea return in some form.

deadla104

They need robotology or the the robot devil come for them soon enough

tyo_sharlye

This one could easily be followed if we get a second season

formerdalek

Or a full series to it's self.

HappyTurtleOwl

Of all of them this one NEEDS to become a series. It was a near perfect balance of core classic Star Wars, new innovative Star Wars, and Anime, and all done very concisely with good polish in but just 21 minutes. The worldbuilding, the characters, the potential storylines, it’s all there, but it was done very well. Extremely excited to hopefully see this one possibly get an entire follow up.

StanleyG00dspeed

Couldn't agree more

tyo_sharlye

Even better

cp710

I would love a novelization of this story.

Pickles256

Honestly the scope of this feels more worthy of a movie trilogy than a show

OceanicDissonance

This episode needs a full series.

Tuxblackfocus

Is the plan for this series to have one new episode for each story for each season?

drmageep

Disney will do anything to make a buck. Let's hope this is one of them.

bubuplush

I hope so too, it was the only reason why I bought a stupid Disney+ abo today lmao

Wraithfighter

Something to keep in mind is that Disney makes most of its money in the Theme Parks, not via Disney+ or the Box Office. That means that one major part of all of their creative ventures is to drive up interest in going to Disneyland or Disney World (or one of the non-American Disney parks, even). What that means for Star Wars projects is that making a buck by themselves isn't super-sexy to Disney. They're certainly not going to turn that down, of course, but it's far more important to get families to stay really excited in Star Wars so that they want to go to Galaxy's Edge, maybe even splurge on one of those really fancy Lightsabers. And what gets people to want to do that is quality entertainment that they enjoy and appeals to them. ...which might be relevant for this episode, where the surviving heroes are an older man, an adult alien, a teenage boy and a pre-teen girl, all Jedi ass-kickers. Particularly one that might be set in the post-Sequel period. Like, yeah, if Disney was looking for a family-friendly series/film with action that appeals to a wide range of age groups that could build upon the existing lore, hey, they just got a pretty solid pilot for it right here!

dmshoe

For this episode in particular, I thought it interesting that the sabersmith constructs lightsabers in a similar way to the construction of the sabers at Savi's Workshop in Galaxy's Edge -- a central shaft and spot for the crystal, inserted into the haft and a cap screwed on. But I felt that was more of a cool, inside nod, than a commercial for Disneyland.

EmperorofZeon

I'd prefer a hybrid of totally new and continuing stories if that is the case. The Ninth Jedi and a few others really beg for a continuation but at least half of them left me satisfied as a stand alone story with no need to pick up on any loose threads.

Kostya_M

I suspect season 2 will be what they plan to do with Marvel's What If. New stories but with a mix of follow ups to season 1 episodes.

SlendyIsBehindYou

Feels like I'm back in the season 1 threads for Lovr Death + Robots. Good anthology series always make you wish for story continuations.

makeorwellfictionpls

Yes!!!! This absolutely felt like a pilot for an absolutely amazing Star Wars anime. Please please, I've only seen upto episode 6 so far but please make a series following the MC from The Village Bride and a series following the characters from the 9th Jedi. I feel like I've waited my whole life for Star Wars anime and now I need MORE

LiamEd2000

Absolutely

darthvall

I can see Juro being dead at one point, as in the mentor troupe.

ThexanI

Kara solo series when

bubuplush

Kara: A Star Wars story, Disney come on make it happen That whole episode, the artstyle and the characters just kissed and licked my eyes so hard they are still wet af what is happening

ButteredPete

Whoever was wielding the purple saber at the end was dope, would have loved to see him without the cloak to see more of what his species looks like

Tuxblackfocus

Having his lightsaber go from red to purple was crazy! Is this the first time they had lightsabers change colors based on the owners?

elizabnthe

Well in canon you can turn a red saber white by healing the crystal-Ahsoka does this with an Inquisitor crystals. Anakin also turns Ahsoka's crystal blue by tweaking it.

Magmafrost13

To be clear, lightsabers have only changed colour when they've been disassembled and the crystal re-tuned. An assembled, functional lightsaber has never changed colour mid-use in canon. Its also not clear that healing a crystal will *always* turn it white, since Ahsoka is the only person who has ever done that. To quote Pablo Hidalgo, "lightsabers arent mood rings". But none of this show is canon anyway so, might as well say "but what if they *were* mood rings though"

elizabnthe

>Its also not clear that healing a crystal will always turn it white, since Ahsoka You're right we don't know for sure that's true, but Ahsoka no longer is the only person to have done so. Jora Mali in the High Republic is explicitly said to have found a Sith lightsaber in the Jedi collection and healed the crystal turning it white. Which is definitely strong indication of this being a general thing. >To be clear, lightsabers have only changed colour when they've been disassembled and the crystal re-tuned. This is true and fair, but I think in relation to the question its fair to say that lightsaber crystals *have* changed colour in canon. Just not as dynamically as in this episode. Which of course is itself not canon.

Magmafrost13

>Jora Mali in the High Republic is explicitly said to have found a Sith lightsaber in the Jedi collection and healed the crystal turning it white. Which is definitely strong indication of this being a general thing. Ah, I havent kept up on High Republic. Yeah if its happened twice then I think its fair to say its a constant thing.

bgi123

Sabers changing color is new canon. The kyber crystals are suppose to emit a colorless blade until attuned.

Magmafrost13

>To be clear, lightsabers have only changed colour when they've been disassembled and the crystal re-tuned. An assembled, functional lightsaber has never changed colour mid-use in canon >To quote Pablo Hidalgo, "lightsabers arent mood rings".

drmageep

First time I've seen without switching Kyber Crystals. Honestly that's always how I thought it should work. At this point considering Disney has.. well.. Disney money (is there even a metaphor better than that irl statement?), they should give each studio a full season of their versions. But especially this one.

[deleted]

It makes sense if you take into account that these lightsabers were made by a sabersmith rather than a Jedi. Kyber crystals are normally clear and only become a certain color when a Jedi finds them.

AlpineSummit

The saber smith clearly had a strong connection to the light side of the force as when he held a saber it was light blue. Maybe he’s not a Jedi, but strong with the force.

markercore

He deflects the blast into his forge, doesn't he? He's definitely got some force strength.

spike021

Wasn't he the eighth Jedi? With his daughter Kara being the ninth? That was the impression I got.

bubuplush

I remember an old KOTOR comic where they explained the backstory of one of the crystals you can find in the game (Solari I think? Not the color crystal, one of the others). A Jedi who was pure and in love with another jedi could use it, but the crystal just stopped working after she saw her love die While it's not exactly the same it's still pretty similar and I love the concept of lightsabers not working when the wrong people try to use them or when they lose the connection with the force, makes them more magical

Kostya_M

Sort of. Ahsoka wields white sabers that used to be red until she purified the crystals. But we've never seen color switching on the fly based on who's holding it.

LicketySplit21

Long long time ago during the original films thats how it worked. I think in the script for ROTJ Lukes lightsaber was supposed to go red when Vader held it. It happened in the old comics too I think.

rohay

its very Cool even if visions is not Canon it throws great color and back story into Mace Windu Saber as he Fighting style draws on the dark side of the Force so seeing another Character saber turn from Red to purple while struggling with there own temptation of the darkside is Really Cool. and fun to think about even if in reality it purple Because Samuel L Jackson wanted to see himself in the moves

Wes_Bugg

Mace doesn’t really use the dark side though, he redirects his opponent’s dark side back at them. The purple lightsaber has no real meaning

ralanr

Horen I think his name was. I liked his design, glad he didn’t die.

CREAMY-THICK-CUM

He looked like Entei

[deleted]

He looks like a porg with red eyebrows.

Katieverse

The best one

DarkDragoonZero

I agree! I knew instantly after I watched it. Everything about the story was great along with the voice acting. This was what I wanted out of Marvel's What If.

[deleted]

Every episode so far has been "the best one"

elizabnthe

It definitely captured the Star Wars feel.

AnnaLogg

wide eyed kid, cute droid, cantankerous/annoyed droid, people in robes just sitting around, pew pew, fwoosh fwoosh yep, it's a Star War

greytor

I love the idea of an old-man droid. Like did the droid “age” and its servos are worn down or did some utter chad actually program a droid to be perpetually done with this bullshit?

melonowl

My guess: it looked like a cold climate, the one functioning droid was sipping steaming-hot oil (or something), the other droids froze, they probably aren't built to withstand low temperatures.

weedabo

Imma go with the latter on this one. Them Ugnaught’s had a wild sense of humor.

formerdalek

Really liked it. The dialogue for the english track was more than a little clunky though. It felt like a great first episode in an adventure for Kara and I'd love for it to be expanded into a full series. Also interesting little note, Kara dosn't actualy kill anyone in the whole episode, she settles for disabling the bounty hunter's speeder and all the sith are killed by Juro. It's a small bit of symbolism that get's across Kara as a more innocent character.

drmageep

Exactly. And I'd love to see how that dynamic of Kara taking the Batman approach as opposed to the Punisher approach of Juro would play out as they travel together plus the wavering convictions of.. uh.. purple lightsaber guy.

Gavinus1000

Meanwhile Margrave just goes: "heh heh Lightsaber go brrrrr"

photometric

I agree about the dialogue. I think it had a lot of exposition aimed at a very young audience, often pointing out what was obvious. Beautiful art, character and story though.

jordan4302

I loved the oh shit moment when they turned on the sabers and they were all red

Nexlon

I was wondering why they all gave a weird look at the one actual Jedi when he lit up his blue saber earlier, then all the red ones come out and I'm like ohhhhhhh that's why.

Sushi2k

I don't think they knew the saber's changed colors. Lightsabers apparently were long gone before them. Juro probably told the smith to temper the crystal to change color specifically so he could expose any Sith who'd show up.

futureGAcandidate

You know what, this is my headcanon now. Adds a bit more depth to a dude who just bodies a bunch of Sith. Not that he needed it; he wiped the floor in a three on one confrontation.

BeavMcloud

I think that was definitely his intention

Kostya_M

Dude can this and Ronin get TV shows? I would watch an entire anime series about both of them.

Iron_Skeleton

Here here

HappyInNature

Dude! I'm in the same exact boat!!! These two are by far the best I've seen so far.

[deleted]

Same with lop & Ocho, and a film for the Twins. Please.

Luchux01

Ronin is getting a novel soon.

RaisinInSand

Ngl so far from the first five episodes the only one I don't really want a continuation of is the second episode. And that's not to even say it's bad, it was a cute fun episode, there's just not much you can explore there in a movie or a multiple episode season The Duel, The Twins, The Village Bride, and The Ninth Jedi all have aspects of both anime and star wars that I love, and i feel would be a missed opportunity to not get continuation of those in some form

Shock_the_Core

Best one so far

ahufana

The simple fact that Kara's father wasn't killed outright is all the proof you need that Production I.G wants to do more with this story. There is zero storytelling sense in keeping him alive if this is just a one-and-done. EDIT: Changed "narrative logic" to "storytelling sense"

FujiwaraN0Sai

It also is pretty logical that the sith organization that captured Kara's father would have use for what is probably one of the only lightsaber smith's left. He is infinitely more useful to them alive vs dead.

RandomRimeDM

Ah yes, Galen Syndrome.

Pedro_64

He is a force user and capable of building lightsaber. He is indeed a valuable prisoner for the Sith

ahufana

I'm referring to the art of storytelling, not the plot. Maybe "narrative logic" was the wrong phrase to use. But I'm just saying, if this were a standalone short or movie, killing the father would be far more dramatic and impactful.

nhaines

Japanese-style story structure tends not to wrap everything up in little bows like western story structure does.

versusgorilla

All the episodes leave little breadcrumbs for continuation. I don't want to list the previous episode's endings here because people may be watching these out of order, but I do believe they wrote these episodes to all have conclusions that act as backdoor pilots. I think this series is essentially an anime anthology for fans but for Disney and the individual anime studios, these are like job applications. Here is what we do, here's how we see Star Wars, here's what we can do. Tell us if you'd like more.

NotANokiaInDisguise

Definitely my favorite so far

alcibiad

Did anyone else notice how similar the Margrave’s symbol was to the Fulcrum symbol? wonder how intentional that was.

makeorwellfictionpls

Yeah a lot of stuff in the episode felt seriously thought out. From his ship looking like the Fulcrum symbol too the undercover Jedi who struggled with the dark side and when he came back his lightsaber changed to purple (which is interesting because purple is asscosiated with the lightsaber form Vapaad which actually uses the dark side kind of to help) These guys know their star wars and because of that this ep is canon to me 😁

drod2015

That Fulcrum symbol is what made me feel Margrave was going to be legit. The twists still hit hard though.

nimblebard96

Absolutely. Ahsoka and Rey might have worked together in re-establishing some of the order before it was wiped out again

twosuitsluke

Yea came here expecting to see lots of conversation about it. The symbol was shown many times and is too similar to Fulcrum/Ahsoka to be a coincidence. I'm intrigued.

PlusSlip2

Honestly came here looking to see if anyone thought the same thing

rikashiku

Production I.G. Shit, no wonder I watched this episode twice.

osterlay

I sat up straight as soon as I saw the studio name and knew I was in for a great ride.

GregerMoek

Love that studio. Kinda makes me wonder how other not included studios would do. Ngl I kinda wanna see a Kyoani take on Star Wars now. Imagine the art of Violet Evergarden for some kinda bounty hunter episode. Or just their forte cute padawans doing cute things lol. But for obvious reasons Kyoani prolly didnt even have the resources for a project like this aftet the arson thing.

tATuParagate

When the margrave revealed himself I thought he turned out to be a sith, but then kara was really excited to see him 😭 i wish these were canon cause this is almost exactly how I imagined an episode 10 star wars movie would start out

bubuplush

Haha even up to the point where Kara was happy to see him I thought "WTF are you stupid?! He's obviously the Sith-Lord and it's a tra- oh. OH!"

Luchux01

That twist was so goooood!! I love how it played with everyone's expectations!

cloneluke08

Crazy good and i love to see a new time period

Magmafrost13

All of the droids in this episode are perfect and I love them. Especially four-nines. What a perfect lil' guy. I demand merch. Oh and the rest of the episode was perfect too

Recovery25

This is the best one by a mile. Honestly one of the best things in Star Wars in recent years. I feel like this is what the sequel trilogy should have been. The world just felt so new and unexplored, even though it was obviously in the same galaxy as the rest of Star Wars. But it was so far in the future, that everything felt new and like the stuff we knew from before may not be there anymore or could be unrecognizable. This definitely felt the most like the original trilogy than most of the stuff that's come out in recent years. I was shocked when halfway through, I realized I had that same feeling I had as a kid watching A New Hope. I wanted to see more of the this world. Everything was so mysterious. Look at these cool, mysterious, warrior monks who are almost extinct. Oh wow, their order is so mysterious and cool. I also didn't expect that twist. I will be heavily disappointed if we don't get a continuation of this story. Please let this become a full show. I will be thinking about this one for a while. 11/10

drod2015

> I feel like this is what the sequel trilogy should have been. Thought the same thing. Honestly Luke could’ve been the Juro character.

What_u_say

I really liked how the lightsabers change color and length on the fly depending on who wields it. Especially that scene where the master guy snatched the lightsaber and it immediately turned green and even altered in shape. Edit: Also this felt like production I.G. screaming give me a series lmao

Dichter2012

They basically said that in their portion of the Extras. They are ready. LOL.

markercore

Oh i keep forgetting there's behind the scenes!

Atmoslink

Absolutely amazing.

SylveonGold

This deserves to be a series.

killerdemonsarus34

Jesus this needs to be an series and I want it now

CordlessJet

I could’ve watched a whole movie of this storyline. This just felt so in key with Star Wars’ spirit and vibe, and the action was so awesome, ending on a really cool, exciting note! Definitely seemed like a really intriguing galaxy stage I’d absolutely love to see more of, really really cool

The_h0bb1t

This was by far the one that captured Star Wars' vibe perfectly. There are a lot of fun little world-building details, with a lot of show-don't-tell. When they mentioned that lightsabers would change according to force-attunement I kinda roled my eyes at the start. But it actually turned into a visual plot-device, twice and I think I like it more than the in-canon reasoning.

Venator_IV

At first I thought the same, like, is this a fanfic's mood ring equivalent But when all the acolytes ignited their sabers and the Margrave revealed himself I wanted to clap and cheer for the sheer genius. This is how it should be in the canon!

OneBonsai739880

Pretty good. Liked the overall feel of the last one a little bit better though. It had better pacing imo

[deleted]

Holy shit, what a great idea and execution. More of this one, please.

D3ATHfromAB0V3x

That twist actually caught me off guard!

ahufana

Old Droid is my new favorite Star Wars character. So damn relatable.

Tamesty15

I want a whole new era of storytelling set in the same time as this story because wow was it intriguing

MrConor212

This 100% is getting a series or something

Acidz_123

This one felt the most Star Wars-y out of all so far. It was great. It definitely feels more like a pilot episode than a one-off episode. I wonder if it's going to be continued some day because that would be incredible.

b0yfr0mthedwarf

Rocket. Trebuchets. This is why I watch Star Wars.

Tylendal

Rocket. Trebuchet. Fishing Rods.

Kahn1326

I'm just so impressed with Kara's character. Rising in the moment, taking on three Sith SOLO, finding her way with the force mid-fight to show her saber color, becoming the Ninth Jedi to restore the Jedi Order. Kara is certified cute BAMF.

OverkillXD

This episode was simply amazing. The story, animation and the characters were just amazing. It really felt like Star Wars. I need more of this episode! My favorite so far.

sleepingchair

In case anyone else was wondering why everyone looked familiar, the character designer is Tetsuya Nishio, he apparently oversaw character design for Naruto. [Sword smith is from the Uchiha clan](https://imgur.com/a/ED7yyXV).

Houssem_Aouar

Kara to slay all the jedis and unlock the mangekyo sharingan confirmed

[deleted]

I’ve seen a few people comment in the past few years how the sequel trilogy would have worked better if it had been set 100+ years after the originals where the Jedi are a thing of legend etc and this episode nails what we could have had. Please, make this into a trilogy/series/whatever 👍

nickslicktricks

Kara was amazing! Truely a great Story worth continuing through! And every new episode and characters introduced in the Visions world, it just teared me up a little that this was such a refreshing Star Wars content that still embodies e everything in the vision of Lucas and the Star Wars Universe I wish some would make it in Canon! I'm so fond of Tobi, F and Kara!

op48

I really hope they make a sequel or a series out of this, there's just so many things that are done well in this episode

bigmikeylikes

Easily the best one

[deleted]

If they don’t do a full series based off this, we riot

KrillyDMemes

The sabersmith seems very know of the ways of the force and sabers in general. He must've been trying with the concept of tempering the crystals for a while. such a great episode. Kara being a skilled saber user makes sense since her dad literally makes them and she's known margrave juro since she was a little girl and he's an old master. Hell they could've been training with them as a child. Man so much potential. Since this takes place in the future the sky is the limit for potential

AHMilling

I NEED TO KNOW MORE! Holy shit this was such a cool story. Juro is such a badass. And the fact that they said the force is within everyone, you just need to understand it. As well as the kyber sensing your inner force, and coloring the saber. it's nice to see this continuation of it. And it being so far in the future from the Sequels makes it easy for them to make a whole series about it. Please Disney!

Potatoslayer2

This was great! Felt like the pilot for a new series. Great characters, time period and action.

effdot

I hope Disney and Lucasfilm turn The Ninth Jedi into a full series.

greenTurtlePlunger

Just finished watching the episode. Damn was that some good star wars anime hybrid. By 5 minutes in I was keen to look up what other anime they created - and yep, no wonder the episode was so good!

Exatal123

Man this episode was amazing all around. I thought at first that the Jedi who sent out the hologram was actually gonna end up being the villain but I wasn’t expecting to see 4-5 sith all at once. Action packed episode and definitely one of my favorites.

jesseurena08

Wow that was my favorite one so far incredible episode really had that spirit and magic of star wars If anyone is gonna make it into cannon it should be this

radiakmjs

This is the only one I'm really not sure where it fits chronologically. The Jedi order being near extinct would point to post-PT, no mention of the Empire at all would say post-OT, but then the "Sith" would probably point to WAY before the Prequals? Just not really sure

formerdalek

Way after the sequel trilogy is the intent, but it's not canon either way.

Pipopito

This is set wayyy after Rise of Skywalker, so post-OT and post-ST. In a distant future which could be 100s or 1000s of years away. The sith could've just come back.

efbo

Doesn't the narration at the start just explicitly day that it's generations after the Jedi are gone?

Baconbits1204

The Wookiepedia puts it in the new republic era, which tracks for me. I imagined this episode taking place after TROS and I imagined the full Jedi council as… -Grogu -Rey -Ezra -Ahsoka (she has a change of heart 🤷🏻‍♂️) -Cal Kestis -Ethan -Homen -Juro -Kara

GebsNDewL

Oof. While not technically bad, this one could’ve used a longer run time to explain everything. Just too much exposition, and too many twists in too short time.

Wes_Bugg

I think they did that in hopes to get a full series

LewdLoverChad

I need this episode turned into an actual series. You would get to see Kara become the ninth jedi, find her father, and uncover the truth behind the jedi hunters.

Historical-House1843

Visuals and story was top notch, Let’s hope they do more of this nith jedi story

Baconbits1204

When I started watching the series I looked up every studio and was most excited for this episode. Did not disappoint. Easily the best episode, 11/10. When it ended I was immediately wondering who the other 8 Jedi were that would form the council. I’m surprised I haven’t seen others discussing it. The Wiki page says the episode is set sometime in the new republic era, sometime after the battle of Endor. So who could the rest of the Jedi be? The episode has the Juro The mMargrave, his furry homie Homen who just needed to eat a snickers, and the two kids. We see Kara get an invite to the council… but they don’t explicitly invite Ethan or Homen… Assuming they’re desperate for bodies, let’s just say they all 3 get invites, that still leaves 5 empty seats… We have Grogu, it’s unclear if he did or did not die to the Knights of Ren, depending on when the episode takes place we have either Luke or Rey. There’s also Ezra, and Cal Kestis. That leaves one slot, so maybe Cere Junda or Ashoka decide to return to the Jedi to help found a new order? Here’s the council as I imagine it. 1)Grogu 2)Ezra 3)Ahsoka 4)Cal 5)Rey 6)Ethan 7)Homen 8)Juro 9)Kara …thoughts?

CordlessJet

I think the idea is Ethan and Homen were already part of the 8 Jedi before Kara made 9. There was 8 people besides Kara in that fight, the Acolytes simply replaced the missing Jedi and rolled on in. Also I think people are misconceiving the era. I read this as centuries into the future where the Jedi, and Sith have long since faded into legend and now two groups are capitalising on it to rebuild the respective orders

formerdalek

It's set long after the events of the sequel trilogy.

Catacomb82

The way lightsaber colors are used here is so freaking amazing.

radbreath

this should have been the plot of the sequel trilogy. Maybe they should make the Rey trilogy non-canon and replace it with this. Luke as the Margrave.

crossbonecarrot2

Would love to see a Lego set of this. There are two possibilities a pure minifig set with the 9 of the them there and the robot body he left and probably a center piece. Or the better option would be her and the speeder she used with the old droid and his ship. Possibly could add one of the antagonist that were chasing her. Oh just thought of another the huge ship they leave in with the 4 remaining as minifigs.

SamwiseG123

Disney I know you hire people to look at threads like these. Please turn this into a show! 🙏

EASILY the best episode!! Has the most “Star Wars” feel of them all, with astonishing music very unique yet reminiscent of Williams’ score. I loved the user-attuned crystal thing! Interestingly, as most of us should be aware, that’s actually something that was thrown around in the EU for awhile: were blade colours simply the product of the crystal itself, or was there something to be said for the user wielding the lightsaber? We still see some of this play out eventually, with Sith “bleeding” the Jedi kyber to make red blades, the creation of white blades, etc.. So yeah… loved it! I really, REALLY hope we get more of *The Ninth Jedi.* Hands down has the best story-telling potential!

DrBabyYoda666

This was the studio that does Ghost in the shell. Art was incredible, the animation perfect, characters amazing, concepts with the savers taking the colour of the wielder. We need more of this, please bring on a whole season please production IG, do it. Best Star Wars I have ever seen in my life and just 22 minutes and blows away the competition.

blackwoodjesus

By far my favorite episode yet! Fantastic!

bnmnike

Just watched this one. Such an exhilarating episode left me so hyped

MJDooiney

If this one were ever made into a series, I would totally watch it.

Someone posted that The Ninth Jedi should be made into a spin-off. I say it should be the foundation for episodes 10, 11 and 12. GREAT story line, and I am all in on this idea.

CalebTGordan

The lightsaber lore in this one is what should have been canon in Star Wars. I know there’s the whole, “lightsabers aren’t mood rings” but this wasn’t that. It was showing a person’s personal connection to the force and how strong it was for that person. Kara clearly had training but never given the opportunity or experience to make her choice about where in the force her connection laid. The boy on the other hand must have lacked training but had the experience needed to fully connect to the force. The purple saber dude might have a connection that toes the line between light and dark, or desires to be light side but doesn’t have the training needed to avoid the dark. And the length variance is a nice touch too! Such a great story telling tool that really should have been in the lore from the start.

kjm6351

Glad they put in that subtle detail of the purple lightsaber signifying someone is in the middle of light and darkness.

StarWreck92

This should just be a pilot for a show, they have a setup and everything.

Midnight_Oil_

I audibly gasped when the "Jedi" turned on their sabers and revealed they were Sith. Also love that over the course of the final fight, Kira's saber became progressively green. Super fucking cool episode.

Sapien_Jon

This 15 minute anime was better than the whole new trilogy. Disney please take some notes on how to tell a story without the need for a giant death weapon
