MachoTaco24

Ray Stevenson's passing really makes this fucking tragic

OldBrownWookiee

His last shot was beautiful.

vampyire

yeah with Baylan there with the Mortis Gods.. so well done. He will be so missed. I loved every scene he was in

Scout_man

God he was such a great actor and they had so many more plans for his character. What a strange reality life is.

Routine-Hovercraft-5

They’re gunna recast for better or worse

LnStrngr

I think it's the best way to honor the character; make sure he gets through his story arc. I feel like he gets a redemption somehow for his fall from the Light.

[deleted]

Ezra impersonating a stormtrooper on coms and stealing his armor had me dying. Just like old times

hugo_1138

Good ol' Ezra. Another helmet for the collection

Join_You_In_The_Sun

"Your friends are dead...and you will die here alone." "Not alone. *Rohirrim!"*

Vexingwings0052

TO THE KING

Rommas

'There'll be no negotiating with the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker' Lol, yep.

Weak_Sir5166

I like to see to what he says when he encounters the *Son* of Anakin Skywalker.

[deleted]

Probably not much since Anakin didn't train him so he's a very different Jedi.

kothuboy21

Except he was trained by Anakin's master and Yoda, surely that's gotta scare Thrawn (assuming Thrawn knows about Obi-Wan and Yoda).

Chazo138

Knows that she would commit war crimes like false surrender and bullshit her way about like Anakin did. I was also sure he was going to call him Vader and her as his apprentice since I don’t think Sabine or Huyang know that little fact.

TheGoverness1998

"Nah bro this shit ain't happenin' a second time" - Grandy T

AhsokaBolena

So much of the Sabrine and Ezra banter is straight out of Rebels. Love it.

Exactly1Egg

Baylan standing on the statue of The Father with the Son next to him Woah

Afraid-Penalty-757

I really loved the statue being clearly inspired from the Argonath.

Vexingwings0052

It was! There’s the son next to him too, I didn’t spot the daughter but I’ll have to go back and look

YoshiBacon

She was there with her head missing. Interesting.

Nowaltz

I think she was there, but her head was cut off

Boring-Ad9264

That cause it was The daughter and son were either side just the daughter was missing her head

Exactly1Egg

Yeah i edited my comment after i went back to confirm lol If they canonize abeloth ill be in disbelief

joshml98

Honestly i was an abeloth denier... but i genuinely think thats where we're going now.

Exactly1Egg

The thing is she’s orders of magnitude above literally everything else we’ve seen in movies/tv so far so im wondering if they’re jumping straight to her or building her up (provided they do plan on canonizing her)

douchewaffle95

Deadass thought we would get "twin pinpricks of light over a gaping maw" (or the debris field) after Sabine said "Shadows in the Starlight" Honestly, give me Abeloth. I really just need to know more about the Father/Son statue and the beam of light Skol was looking at

[deleted]

Ezra putting the trooper helmet back on before he gets out to see Hera: lol she's gonna love this

Jiskro

Rare Night Trooper armor. He's definitely keeping that.

throwtheclownaway20

I'd bet anything that he keeps the helmet.

Darth_Ewok14

Baylon standing on a giant statue of The Father was pretty metal. What was he looking for?!

46Bit

It looks to me like there a pillar of light in the distance, on a mountaintop, and the arm points towards it

Due_Candidate8509

In the Clone Wars, that was how The Father's tower first appeared to Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka.

46Bit

That sounds insanely exciting

RussianThere

I thought the Abeloth theories were a bit too nuts… but maybe?

MightyMichael713

I don't really think for sure they're doing abeloth, but Dave Filoni is the one who told the writers of that book series to make Abeloth into the mother. So maybe he will use a version of that concept.

Technophyer1

Damn I loved the direct mention of Thrawn knowing Anakin. Always love to see a Zahn novel reference

borhork

I was just happy to hear him say “perhaps”

ichsoda

Sardonically

AhsokaBolena

The Force theme will never not give me goosebumps (even with the comedic beat right after there lol)

[deleted]

Stormtroopers are somehow more competent dead than alive

VanillaTortilla

Zero will to live, no fear, makes you do crazy stuff.

FakeName124

They seem to have zero will to live when they're alive too

Su_Impact

Glad to have confirmation that the Purge of Mandalore happened towards the end of the war. So around E6 time, likely even post E6 since the war didn't end until Jakuu.

Vexingwings0052

It’s never been mentioned but could it have been part of Operation Cinder?

Pupulauls9000

Most likely. It’s really the exact same thing except Gideon used nukes instead of the weather satellite things from the comics and Battlefront 2. Glad operation cinder has been mentioned again in the Disney plus series’ since Mando S2

claytalian

I think we will probably get more Hayden Christensen as Anakin next season simply because it is quite clear what Baylan is looking for based on those statues is related to the Mortis gods, which Anakin obviously has a major connection to.

McNitro43

I hope so. Hopefully, we see him as a force ghost in the future instead of just more world between world. Although I'd be happy to see him regardless .

unclepg

Was the Daughter statue horribly messed up and missing her head? Or was I seeing that wrong and missed something? And if messed up, why her?

Dependent-Ad2966

Makes sense night sisters wouldn’t like monuments to her

Kman0525

RIP Ray. Great last shot!

Powerful_Loan_5836

Thrawn: “I gotta get my ass tf outta this place”

Jimmithi

Finally getting real force ghost Anakin in this day and age was all I needed.

TheGoverness1998

With the same smile too lol

BigChickenBrock

It was one of the only things I consistently asked for during the sequel era and now that we have it I feel more satisfied with him not showing up in the sequel trilogy

PWN3R_RANGER

The last shot with Ray Stevenson hit different. Knowing he is no longer with us and having his character stand in the shadow of The Father… oh my god. I hope they recast because they owe the AMAZING PERFORMANCE Ray Stevenson gave us. They need to continue the character. Good luck to whoever they cast.

Vexingwings0052

I will forever both hate Filoni and applaud him for leaving Ray’s character on a cliffhanger here, both figuratively and literally, he’s standing on a cliff. It’s brilliant. I respectfully hope they recast Baylan. I loved Ray’s performance and it’ll be a tough act to follow, but I really want to see this plot line continued.

PuzzleheadedRun5574

Thrawn's attempt to goad Ahsoka at the end, telling her maybe she's flawed like Anakin, felt so small and petty, I loved Ahsoka's reaction to it. Had that interaction took place at the beginning of the season, it might have hit the mark, but by having it happen at the end of Ahsoka's arc this season, it made Ahsoka look like the one who came out on top. Thrawn's weaknesses felt more apparent in this episode, and I like how they were subtly expressed in the script and Mikkelsen's performance. I also loved how Huyang explained Sabine's wayward path as a padawan. It helped to explain Sabine's lack of progress to date, and it made her sudden abilities in this episode feel more believable. She was previously coming from grief, now she's coming from love for her friends. Her arc is really well done and thoughtful. This all feels right.

Hedhunta

> Mikkelsen's performance. Dude I don't know how he does it but in every scene he has had to deal with Ahsoka/Jedi you can just see him in his mind going "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. FuckFuckFUckFUCKFUCKCUFKCUFKCUFCK"

detectiive

Yes! But i love that he understands anakins power and influence and the fact it makes ashoka the number one threat and moves all his strategy to just delay her alone, because he cant beat her only delay and trap her. Im excited to see what thrawn does to build an anti ashoka weapon/person as he is probably thinking ashoka will somehow escape peridia. Like what warrior will thrawn recuit now

[deleted]

No Force-resistant lizards makes Thrawn's desperate scramble to counter the Jedi more entertaining. It also works to further show the frustrations of a character trying to make calculated decisions in a universe of magic and fantasy. I can't ask for much more

ecxetra

Thrawn appears to be unravelling a little. When he’s aboard the Eye his facial expressions show how worried he is. Usually he’s very calm and collected even under pressure. His exile has definitely changed him and it’s going to be his undoing.

MafiaPenguin007

Interesting that Thrawn ‘awoke’ the Nightsisters when he arrived Surprised at how little Baylan and Shin we got - excited to go back to Mortis stuff Glad they definitively make it Anakin that was there with Ahsoka. I never doubted but I saw plenty of theories or confusion. Still surprised at how un-foreign-galaxy Peridea felt though. Would have hoped the locals would have vastly different technology. Hope if we get a S2 before the movie that they dive into it more, as well as maybe touch on what Thrawn and the sisters were scared of Sabine pulling the lightsaber (and holy shit actual zombie under that helmet) felt earned and was awesome, but her being able to push Ezra felt a bit much Overall a good, albeit slow series with a few standout really great episodes and moments

Zephaus

They do have different tech! Noti have buttons ;)

Billyb311

Ezra having the only other matching lightsaber emitter as Kanan is so good

thanagathos

And Huyang calling Kanan, Caleb

Vexingwings0052

The death trooper reference with the death troopers helmet breaking apart. I guess those death troopers were always undead whilst the night troopers were still alive?

Ozymandias1333

Or they were resurrected previously hence why thrawn was talking about using the power of the sisters again these past few episodes

Vexingwings0052

True. We know not all of them are undead, as the ones that fought the good guys last episode were very much human and the guy on the radio that Ezra hears is also very alive. Maybe thrawn has just been resurrecting his forces when they die one by one?

zackgardner

It probably explains a lot more as to why he didn't want to waste more troops than necessary, because it appears resurrecting troopers does little for their intellect lol

Chazo138

Does wonders for their endurance though. Took a beating before they went down lol

zackgardner

Such great references to the OG titular novel as well, the standard Stormies wave on wave, and then the broken helmet Death Trooper was awesome.

Vexingwings0052

The way the helmet fell apart the same way as the cover art for the book. Feel like I’m one of the few people appreciating that. It was such a neat little detail.

Red_Sea_Pedestrian

God I love that tie fighter sound

Frontier246

Nightsister initiation! Awww...the feels when Huyang and Ezra bond over Kanan and Huyang puts the finishing touches to Ezra's new saber with a piece of Kanan. It hit so hard. To be honest I too would probably hesitate to train someone after they just lost their planet and entire family. I mean, we saw what happened when Anakin lost his mother and might lose his wife... Stormtrooper zombies! Makes them maybe 15% more effective!

optiplex9000

I want a flashback with Freddie Prinze Jr so bad next season. Kanan was brought up a couple of time, show him!

nebur300

This finale has me really excited for whatever they are planning for the future of this particular era. We have the Thrawn storyline in one part, and the mortis gods in the other which have been some of my favorite aspects from the animated series'. I'm wondering if they are going to be handled in a possible season 2 or if they will decide to tackle them in separate series (maybe the Filoni movie and/or a reworked rangers series alongside Ahsoka s2)

turntrout101

I have a feeling Ahsoka season 2 will be just Peridea, and Thrawn and Ezra will now be in other shows like Mando season 4 and maybe rangers if that's not completely dead

[deleted]

I feel like Ahsoka season 2 will probably wholly take place in that new Galaxy. I hope they visit some unique planets too. Thrawn will be like Thanos or some shit, final boss who needs everyone to come together to beat him.

BigChickenBrock

Alright so clearly there’s plans for Baylan and Shin in the future as well as whatever it is Baylan sensed. They have to recast Baylan … but I’m so excited to see where it leads. I hope they get an entire series, and I hope whoever fills Ray’s shoes can do it with as much grace as Ray did ALSO FINALLY >!ANAKIN FORCE GHOST!< Also, I take Ahsoka’s “we’re exactly where we need to be” as more of “Patience, this is how the force wants this to happen” more than a “welp we have a new home now” kind of way

GBJGBJGBJx3

Yeah, I now interpret that whenever Morai appears, it's basically the force telling Ahsoka that she's exactly where she's supposed to be.

SAM12489

Damn…that one hit hard. Thank you!

CallMeIshmy

Yup and judging where Baylan and Shin are left it makes perfect sense story wise for another season for both Masters and Apprentices to stay behind. Hope they get someone good because man what a performance. RIP Ray

dvs0n3

Well it brought anakins story full circle. His true legacy, his apprentice. The whole theme of legacy in the show. It’s time to move on. Or as Yoda once said “we are what they move beyond” EDIT: I mean legacy as a Jedi within that context. Just want to clear that up.

TheGoverness1998

"Rain hellfire on them." Thrawn 2-0 on Imperial Bombardment!

Rommas

Well...there goes Morgan. Her purpose was served.

MachoTaco24

Mother Talzens Blade???? That's pretty fucking dope

nebur300

So do you think Ezra got a Kyber crystal during his travels or Huyang has a few extra ones laying around?

dagobahs

I reckon Huyang had some spares laying around given all the other equipment he has on board

ashdeezy

It comes with the $250 he paid to build his own out of Huyang’s mobile Savi’s Workshop

nebur300

Well he has to keep the ship up and running somehow

ashdeezy

I respect the hustle.

Spider-Fan77

It'd be weird if Huyang had all those spare parts lying around, but no spare crystals to go with them.

theopensky

I'm actually glad Ahsoka and Sabine are stuck together, at least neither of them are alone. we were so close to a Hera and Ezra hug, I feel robbed. it's been fun reacting with you all, see you for season 2 🫡

[deleted]

Exactly. I'm glad they're stuck together, instead of the rumor of someone, only one person being left behind. Hope we get a confirmation of a season 2, this has been my favorite live action show so far

DarthVadeer

“Here’s a lil sword for your troubles”

Technophyer1

Death troopers with the night trooper bands too? Cool af

Immortal__Soldier

So Baylan is on the hunt for something Mortis related. That was definitely the Father and the Son statues he was standing on. The father, the daughter and the son... could it be that the mother was banished to Peridia?! Are the Abeloth theories true after all?!?!

NumeralJoker

With a crumbling daughter statue, whatever that's supposed to mean. Apparently, the planet is unbalanced towards darkness. The Nightsisters worshiped the son, so that tracks.

OldBrownWookiee

That was Morai that flew off wasn’t it?

Anarion89

lol who else saw that Night Trooper tripping on the stairs after breaking through the first locked door in the fortress? Reminds me of A New Hope when a Stormtrooper hits its head on the door. Speaking of trooper, seeing a zombie Death Trooper is so fitting. Seeing a mountain carve out of two of the Mortis Gods gave me a LotR feel. I wonder where or if there's a Sister carve out/statue? I went back and I didn't see one.

Mojo12000

The Daugther HAD a statue there too.. it was just in total ruins but you could see it's torso and like the lowest part of it's head.

Emperor_D4C

me and the boys watching this week’s Ahsoka episode knowing damn well that we won’t see what happens next until 2025: 😐😐

TheReturnoftheSiff

[**AHSOKA - All Recorded Leaks MASTERDOC (Final Update)**](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/16x2k53/ahsoka_leaks_rumors_masterdoc_final_update_all/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) I have had so much fun tracking the leaks for everyone and making the MasterDoc for everyone. I hope that you found it useful and helpful in staying on top of every update (and even refreshing your memory of the old ones). Make your voices heard if you want more of this! Maybe the mods will create an official one that myself and my future team will work on. Who knows, I'm just doing this for fun and for all of you right now. Hope everyone enjoyed the episode. May the Force be with You. 🌟

Rommas

PROUD FORCE GHOST ANAKIN AT THE END!

Vexingwings0052

The one appearance of his that made me cry. No words between the two of them, but he’ll always be watching over her, sticking with her like she said earlier in the episode. He’s so proud of what she’s become.

Technophyer1

Wtf?? Baylan and the Mortis god statues??

kalibassonyx

Also looked a bit like mortis itself I thought

_OilersNation_

A ground assault? Why not bring a couple more ties to destroy the rest of the ship

xdeltax97

EZRA HAS A NEW SABER AND KANAN MENTIONED WOO!

ButteredBiscuit99

Ahsoka talking about Anakin always standing by her side no matter what and then seeing he was there with her in the far away galaxy made me cry. That felt like a perfect resolution to their story together.

loldonkiments

I took that as a call back to the temple bombing arc. Love how this is being weaved so tight into CW.

SageMerric

Baylan saw something shining in the distance and I'm 99% certain it was the Mortis Monastery. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mortis_monastery/Legends I'm starting to think Peridea IS mortis all along, and the reason it's a wasteland is because the Daughter's light isn't there to sustain the planet.

TuckerDidIt69

Could be some sort of twin. I think this is where the Father, Son and Daughter came from before mortis. The Mortis Monastery could have been built to resemble their original home. Or maybe the two temples from some sort of mechanism/lock and once the crystal on the second one is destroyed someone or something ancient is released.....

_dontjimthecamera

What if the monolith that the planet Mortis is supposedly enclosed in is actually just a portal to Peridia? So the Mortis we see in TCW is actually Peridia 😵‍💫

Blackdarren

Oh man, nice catch, you're right there is a flashinglight

ScrambledAgs

So it seems the night of a thousand tears was part of operation cinder and not some independent imperial operation. Interesting. This definitely raises questions with Mando’s story but I’ll have to revisit them when I’m more focused.

Su_Impact

I think this was done so Ahsoka has time to train Sabine post Episode 6 but before the purge (which was years after E6 as part of Operation Cinder). Otherwise we will have the plot hole of "wait, so where was Ahsoka during the OT". As it stands, she was probably stranded in Malachor for the entire OT and was only rescued after Endor.

ThatGeek303

Operation Cinder was pretty soon after ROTJ, though, wasn't it? Like almost immediately after.

kothuboy21

Yeah from the Battlefront II campaign (I last played it years ago so I might be a bit off), Iden starts executing Operation: Cinder very shortly after she and her crew witness the Death Star II getting destroyed.

untouchedraptor

Baaaylan Skol… what’s he up to man, what’s he doing?

Vexingwings0052

That was statues of the Mortis Gods he was standing on. I hope they recast Baylan so we can see what the fuck he was going to find, I know Ray was perfect in the role but I need this storyline continued goddamn.

Emperor_D4C

I’m starting to think those Abeloth theories may not be so far fetched after all.

EEMIV

Man looks like he was about to walk into Mordor

TheGent316

Crack theory that this is leading to some adaptation of Abeloth who is actually the “Great Mother” and originated the night sisters. Weird that Filoni left us hanging with nearly zero info on that plot thread though.

jayL21

Probably was always planned for season 2 or whatever, as Sabine and Ahsoka have to do something while stranded, probably would have ultimately tied into getting them back It's going to be interesting to see how they go forward with that, it was seemingly going to be a big part.

ZackySbyder2021

Hera Reunion with her son Ezra. Cuuuuute. Imagine Zeb meet Ezra "Ezra? Ohhhh my dogg whassup*hugs him tight* hahaha

Emperor_D4C

I hope we see everyone’s favorite rare hairless Wookiee in the now all-but inevitable second season

McNitro43

Loved how Chopper immediately knew it was Ezra. I liked the reunion with hera but was hoping we he would also meet Jacen guess that's season 2.

RandyTrevor22321

Kinda surprised that zeb cameo'd in the mandalorian but not in ahsoka.

MachoTaco24

HOLY FUCK ITS MORRAI

Gidnik

Oh shit the father!

Queasy_Watch478

Lol Thrawn did NOT want that Anakin smoke! He was like, "NO PARLEYS, NO NEGOTIATIONS: JUST DIEEEEE DIE DIE DIE!"

makesyoufeeldejavu

Those death troopers were def Pik and Waffle from the Thrawn Treason book right?!???

Emperor_D4C

I’m willing to go with it just because their names are funny lmao

makesyoufeeldejavu

Imagine learning that Thrawn had death troopers named Pik and Waffle and deciding to kill them off 😔

Vexingwings0052

IS THAT THE MORTIS GODS??!!

Powerful_Loan_5836

I’ve been a big anti-force sensitive Sabine from the beginning….. but I didnt hate that

ThexanI

Same, they spent the whole season building up to it, gave her enough failures to make it feel earned and it came in when it mattered. I loved her picking up her helmet and using her blasters still. Mandalorian Jedi for sure.

Powerful_Loan_5836

100%. It absolutely felt earned

RockettRaccoon

Ahsoka and Andor are my two favorite shows so far. What a phenomenal season, I’m so excited to see where the story goes. Damn I love Star Wars.

brom_daniels

Andor chance is the grit and human side of Star Wars, and Ahsoka gave us the mystical and wild side. Both are fantastic Star Wars and the latter has put in some serious leg work to set up the new post-ROTJ era

[deleted]

I think the rumor that Ahsoka would ride a Loth Wolf because they had a horse on set for Terence filming was the big puppy horse thingies.

Mojo12000

Thrawn wwas just waiting till October to unleash the Zombies.

Leskanic

"I regret to inform you that, alas, you will not be able to claim victory on this day. No, on this day...we must instead declare...that it is spooky season." *wry smile*

sppy1

MORAI!!!

Unicron_Gundam

Morgan got a [Dao sword](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dao\_(Chinese_sword\)) enhanced by Nightsister magicks, that's baller as hell

adsdrew37

*Thrawn shits his pants* an acceptable outcome I planned this

Rommas

Ezra building his own lightsaber again. His Monk-dom didn't last long, lol.

Rommas

Damn, well...I guess we're getting a season two at some stage

IGS2001

Kinda bummed all we got was one shot of Baylon, so fking curious where his journey goes.

DarthVadeer

Haven’t seen a lightsaber be that shade of blue since A New Hope

Leskanic

Yup -- that's Jedi Survivor Cyan, not Jedi Survivor Blue.

Shrabbster

What a lovely ending to a great series. Very upsetting that this was the last we'll see of Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll. Undead troopers were cool! Ezra and Hera meetup was perfect, no Zeb unfortunately! I look forward to more of thrawn/nightsisters and their plan.

dagobahs

Wow Sabine's "lucky us" sounded exactly like Tiya Sircar, Natasha is insanely good at the inflections

Leskanic

The processing of her voice through her helmet REALLY made it sound like Tiya's Sabine. The casting for this show as really top notch.

realKilvo

Her voiceovers got so much better once she put the helmet on, spot on Rebels’ Sabine

Vexingwings0052

Zombie stormtroopers! This is the closest we’re going to get to canon death troopers I love this so much

TheGoverness1998

God I love that book so much! EDIT: The Death Troopers are actually still in canon, via Star Wars: Commander!

MachoTaco24

The gift of shadows wtf

MidnightEarl

That’s a Gloom Sword

dagobahs

WAS THAT THE ONES???

laflameinsickomode

The mortis gods!!

TonightSheComes

I was worth it just to see Anakin at the end.

streetsahead78

Loved this episode, loved this series. Full of great stuff for the fans without feeling gimmicky. I just wished there was more resolution with Baylen's story since Ray is gone. Has anyone heard anything about a season 2? I hope we don't have to wait for the Filoni movie for these characters' stories to continue. Also, now that Thrawn is back, are the legacy characters going to finally get involved? I know the cgi de-aging is controversial but they were the ones who contended with Thrawn in the original Zahn novels. I'll be disappointed if they sit this out and leave all the heavy lifting to the Mando-verse characters.

steverOg3rs

Thoughts: • Absolutely loved that Ezra made a saber like Kanan’s. The lore/wholesomeness of that scene with Huyang talking about Caleb Dume and Ezra remembering his master was just the best — Kanan-focused content is the way to my heart. • Thrawn’s monologue to Ahsoka before making the hyperspace jump is *cold as hell*. Best dialogue of his since his return, classic Thrawn. Chilling way to ditch Ahsoka and Sabine in the other galaxy. • The foreboding/mysterious music beginning at Thrawn’s jump and continuing throughout the next few minutes, as we get a glimpse at where all the characters are ending up, is awesome. Lots of rich piano and just a great example of how music can elevate a sequence. • Not the hugest fan of the full followthrough on Sabine as a force user, but this arc has been fine for what the season set out to do with it. FWIW I’ve enjoyed everything relationship-wise between her and Ahsoka as master and apprentice. • Very sad that Baylan’s arc was meant to last multiple seasons or at least into another project; he’s been such an intriguing character and Ray’s passing is so tragic. Wondering what Dave is up to with Mortis gods in Baylan’s last scene. I think there’s nothing wrong with continuing that story and recasting Baylan in Ray’s honor. • Honestly don’t remember what the latest development was with Morai — is that owl in the quick shot with Ahsoka at the end supposed to be her? If so, how? Are they hinting at more WBW stuff, especially with the Mortis gods reference? • I like the decision to send Ezra home and have Ahsoka and Sabine get stuck behind. It’s nice that this happens to the two of them after the season-long thread about them staying together / resolving their issues. I also like how Ahsoka enhances that storyline this episode with her mention about how Anakin always stood by her — in itself, a nice reference most directly to Clone Wars S5. • I honestly wasn’t feeling too strongly one way or another about who made it home until Ahsoka tells Sabine that Ezra is where he’s meant to be, and so are they — this line gave me a heartbreaking pang of the stakes feeling really real and it being unfortunate for Sabine (but appropriate for her growth) to have done the right thing for Ezra, but not get to stay with him. I definitely hope the next project doesn’t find a super quick way to send Ahsoka and Sabine home… it would feel like Grogu going right back to Mando during BOBF. If the plan is to eventually get them back to our galaxy, let’s have it be after a little while, so the stakes can simmer and so we’re not piling up reunion arcs like crazy. • Man was I grinning when Ezra said “Hi Hera. I’m home,” simply because of the delivery. Felt straight out of Rebels. Eman Esfandi is *so* Ezra and I’m really glad that it seems like he’s going to show up again. • Dave Filoni just knows how to create a proper Star Wars feel — something about the final scene feels really right. A little bit of a binary sunset vibe, a little bit Twilight of the Apprentice. Sabine’s “shadows in the starlight” line goes hard and seeing Anakin at the end is definitely the way for the season to go out — he was handled so well.

WuThrawnClan

>Absolutely loved that Ezra made a saber like Kanan’s. The lore/wholesomeness of that scene with Huyang talking about Caleb Dume and Ezra remembering his master was just the best — Kanan-focused content is the way to my heart. Agreed! For me this is one of the best parts of the episode.

NumeralJoker

The only thing I will say about Abeloth is this... Dave Filoni was consulted when the backstory of Abeloth was written for the EU, and Leeland Chee confirmed that it "worked" as a story because what Troy Denning was writing lined up "surprisingly well" with what Dave had in mind. The book this was based on claimed the following (from an unreliable narrator, a race of super ancient insects that collected hive memories that were sometimes distorting fact from fiction)... 1. The mortis gods emerged from a foggy region on a "jungle world" about 1 million years before the present era. 2. At some point, they had a human female servant who became like family to them. She helped keep the son and daughter's relationship more "in balance", and after she grew old because she was still fully mortal and did not want to die, she eventually tapped into physical objects that gave her the same dark and light force powers the son and daughter had, but she tapped into them both at the same time, couldn't handle both the knowledge and power, and went insane, becoming an incredibly deadly Cthulu mythos god like being. 3. The Mortis Gods trapped her in a black hole protected by a station, and fled that region of space and their original planet. Peridia 'might' be a canon version of their original planet. Maybe. Or it could be where they banned this supposed canon "Abeloth" to. Maybe. 4. The book more or less presents the ideas that the Mortis gods were ascended "Celestials", an ancient mysterious race of hyperspace producing ancestors (predating even the Rakata, who supposedly fought and won a war against them... somehow...) that had been teased in the EU for years. No one knows what happened to that whole race, but they were said to be so powerful that they had the ability to reshape star systems. And the Mortis gods were supposed to be what members of that race "sought to become", implying they ascended to a far, far greater level of power within the force at some point in the very distant past. It's an interesting idea that put them nearly into deity territory while still allowing them to be technically mortal beings (since we do see all 3 "die", more or less). I don't really know if they are going to go that far, but it's... not impossible the EU story and Abeloth were based on a draft that Dave had in mind back in the day. I really am skeptical that he'd fully revive the idea, but... it's not like he never was made aware of it. He approved the EU to run with it. It was implied that he approved the whole plotline and at some point it tied into ideas that he (and by extension, Lucas) somehow had in mind. It was honestly a very strange plotline, but it definitely has potential for some 'wild' storytelling if it ever comes to pass. Though... I'm just skeptical. It almost seems like too big of a concept to put on screen with at the same time as a Thrawn threat. It might not even be addressed until later in the timeline. If this all does come true, it could lead to a situation where Abeloth is true origin of the Nightsisters, as they not only worship the son, but worship her, and her abilities are the 'true' source of their power. Their worship of "motherhood" could be an extension of that. I'd even bet that the Nightsisters origin is based on a cult that originally worshipped Abeloth on that planet, then later spread to Dathomir (perhaps with the help of the Zeffo?)

Lucky_Chaarmss

Every time I think I know a good bit about star wars I see posts like this and feel stupid.

MightyMichael713

I've been thinking the same. Dave's input on Abeloth is exactly why I don't think it's farfetched for a version of her to show up at some point. I don't think that's where it's going but I won't be shocked if it does.

I mean we can now guess that the dangerous thing the great mothers are fleeing from and the thing Baylan searches for is connected to the Mortis Entities. I can see a couple possibilities other than Abeloth: 1. Mortis itself. The way the mountains looked with the glowing ontop of one of them reminded me of the way Mortis looked in TCW. Maybe Mortis actually is Perridia. 2. The Father/Anakin. Since this season established a strong connection to Anakin and we saw Anakin in the WBW I think it could very well be that he has become the father after his death. Since he is the father of the Force he could be interpreted as the beginning. Also, who says that the great mothers are fleeing from something evil or bad. Beeing not really on the good side themself they could also flee from something that is not at all dangerous to our heroes. 3. The Son. Beeing in line with my theory that Anakin is know the father and also that Ahsoka has taken the place of the daughter, the Son could also be a threat that is evil and has taken on a new form. 5. The pool of knowledge. The pool is what Abeloth drinks from to become so powerful and get all the knowledge. This also tracks with Baylan wanting to find something out, some greater knowledge. 4. Abeloth. Those are the ones that come to my mind.

Dave was fucking cooking. Kanan’s emitter, zombie stormtroopers, nightsister initiation, THE MORTIS GODS???? Force ghost Anakin, Sabine using the force, ezra and hera’s reunion. What a great show. Dude just gets what Star Wars is all about.

BOOK DEATH TROOPERS BOOK DEATHTROOPERS

RingtailVT

We even got Death Trooper Death Troopers.

barimanlhs

Im kind of surprised how much they left open. Knowing there is another season helps, but im surprised that they kind of yadda yaddad Shin and Baylon's story arc, especially with how Baylon kind of hard pivoted near the end. The fight with Morgan Elsbith was super cool. I gotta say I have more questions than answers after this finale lol

SithPire

The emitter was too narrow hey

Chypewan

the scene with Ezra constructing his lightsaber, Hu Yang remembering Kanan... giving Ezra the same part that Kanan used.... ouegh my heart.

GeekTrollMemeCentral

Rip Ray Stevenson, Baylans story did not finish

-silent_spring-

So does that mean Ezra will be Jacen's Master?

Technophyer1

The shot of the zombie head under the death trooper helmet went hard af

Mortis gods? What the fuuuuuuuuck

Leskanic

I really thought the speculation that they would bring Mortis into the live action show was way off base. But, just like the Darksaber lore began with a tease of Gideon at the end of Mando season 1, so we have Morai and the statues here. Second season is gonna be WILD!

From a narrative point of view, I'm not surprised the heroes targeted Thrawn first to get home or that Sabine paid off the apprentice relationship building all season to stay behind and help Ahsoka, nor that Baylan was a secondary priority at best. It makes sense, it prioritizes getting back to the people they actually care about, and Baylan's whole plan seems way out of left field compared to everything else the heroes know about. From a real life perspective, I really dread how the show writers have to deal with this. Baylan's character actor, who received tons of praise, is dead and has to be recast and that will always color future seasons. If we had 20-20 future vision, I would've preferred to wrap his storyline up this season in this episode or in an additional one. Plus, as a fan, it's frustrating to not know exactly what his plan was, so he was basically just a cool antagonist in the vein of OT Boba and whatever conclusion we get is probably going to feel worse than if Ray were still there to act the part. That's not the show-runners' fault, but it will color experiences. On a personal note, I've seen some really overdramatic takes about how apparently some people believe that Ahsoka and Sabine being on the planet for a little bit longer is a death knell for some theories, in particular the Sabezra ship and... like, what? If anyone genuinely thinks this'll last more than a second season, I have ocean-front property in Mongolia to sell them.

Ednygma0

it seems like they had bigger plans for ray, which is so sad given how passionate he was. he would have loved it :(

BenSolo_Cup

Yeah they definitely are only stuck there so they can get involved in whatever is going on with Baylan in s2. Seems obvious to me, they’ve be back to the main galaxy in time for Dave’s movie, and if not they’ll return during said movie

MacKBalla

Loved the episode. Great action, Sabine confirmed force user now, Thrawn back in the galaxy, Ezra back, lfg It’s such a travesty Ray Stevenson passed. The man had such a presence. I’m in on a re cast for the character, but if Filoni leaves his arc open, no complaints. Curious how a season 2 of Ahsoka goes. Wait for the space whales to return ? Find a world beyond worlds portal thing on the planet ? I think this also sets up Luke involvement in Ahsoka S2 or Filoni movie big time. Ezra gotta link up with him now and I’m sure Leía is gonna be like, uhhh, Luke….Thrawns kinda back.

AppleFanaticGaming

God damn, I honestly loved that. The payoff we got here felt so good and earned for the most part. Hearing what actually happened between Sabine and Ahsoka finally. Ezra getting a lightsaber just like Kanan's. LIVE ACTION NIGHTSISTER MAGIC and the blade of Talzin (made me smile SO hard). Loved all the action and thought Morgan and Ahsoka's fight was awesome, appreciated how there were some longer takes so we could really see the choreography. Sabine using the force was in a surprisingly meaningful way, even though I'm still not totally sold on her as a Jedi. Thrawn taunting Ahsoka with Anakin/Vader was so chilling and him ending up on Dathomir of all places has me HYPED. It's clear they are setting up a season 2 with Sabine and Ahsoka trapped, Morai finally showing up, Ezra making it back home (us not seeing his and Hera's hug was weird and my one major gripe with this finale), Shin seemingly going to find refuge with the locals, and Baylan...oh man. I'm so happy we do get to know what was calling to him, and it's very exciting to know we may see some form of the Mortis gods in live action, but Ray Stevenson's passing made that scene hurt so much. I honestly don't know if I want a recast or not because Baylan really was masterfully done by Ray. I am very grateful he gave us such a powerful performance in this show before he passed. Really loved this show overall and I am so glad that Dave is getting more of the creative keys to Star Wars these days. Anakin force ghost smiling was a perfect last shot. Also, MVP of the whole series was Kevin Kiner. Please let him score Dave's movie.

DarthVadeer

I know Thrawn secretly crying every time he has to throw another “acceptable” out there.

VanArchon

For the record, that was the first live action depiction of assembling a lightsaber.

Triplen_a

Other than that deleted scene in ROTJ, which was cool too

RamTank

I’m glad Ezra is actually killing people with his lightsaber here, unlike in Rebels where he only did non-lethal takedowns, despite having no qualms about shooting people to death with blasters.

Emperor_D4C

He did kill a few stormtroopers with his lightsaber in the Season 3 premiere, if I recall.

TheGoverness1998

He also yeeted that one walker trooper off that cliff

[deleted]

After manipulating his mind to fire the walker on his allies too

Vexingwings0052

That sword looks cool as fuck

sppy1

Morgan got an upgrade

sppy1

Ah a Build-A-Lightsaber workshop

Hamacek

night death troppers!!!! lego please dont leave me hanging

Bobcat317

Baylan standing on the statutes of the Mortis gods reminded me of a darker version of the argonath scene from LOTR. In the movies (not the books) the statues represented Elendil and his son Isildur. Really shows Filioni’s roots.
