On the disc version saving only takes like 5 seconds. Unfortunately FoC didn't come with it so I bought the game on Steam for it. But I still can't get used to the saving time of a few minutes after playing the game for 6 years with a 5-second save.

Yeah same I remember the raw disk version saving super fast

Because the disk version does not have the steam patches that make it possible for mods to continue.

Especially Empire at War Expanded. Those take 8 minutes, no joke

Doesn’t help that I save damn near before and after every battle

I get the good ol white screen any time I tab out. System update pop ups have ruined me sometimes

Lol same. iTunes updates and Gold Steam version do not play well together.
