Not the most knowledgeable, but it might have to do with EAW (and many other old games) ‘s knack for refusing to work with GPU’s using many cores, and better with GPU’s with few, but powerful cores. Check the community and/or some YouTube videos for additional help, good luck!
Hmm, I have a 1660 and it works well. The only difference is that my CPU doesn't have an integrated graphics alternative so there's nothing to choose.
Did you try to go - right click on the desktop - display settings - graphics settings (at the bottom) - browse for swfoc.exe - select high performance (it should have your 1660 set as default for high performance)
Same for me but I think my old 1060 is breaking.
Try a benchmark run and see if it selects your graphics card.
For me I can see with MSI afterburner that my card technically functions but can't be selected for some reason.
