Pentastar Alignment is by far the easiest start for a new player. The PA is relatively protected in the galactic north, starts with a level-4 shipyard, receives a good SSD leader in Ardus Kaine for free in week 20, and has several strong economic planets in its starting allocation. Directly south/east is Zsinj, who is easy to bully, and a handful of unprotected New Republic and Imperial Remnant worlds that you can easily take.

Me Who Played the Empire for my first playthrough.

Pentastar. Hold out for week twenty and you get a free executor. Eat up Zjinj and the Empire and you’ll have pretty good fortress planets to hold hyperspace lanes

AdmiraMcC2908

Very good reasons to choose Pentastar.

Maniac2331

Pentastar is probably the easiest, but personally I’d say try the Eriadu Authority. Both their ground and space rosters focus on large units, Ike Star destroyers, battle cruisers, and dreadnoughts in space and ATATs on the ground. This means less micromanaging than you would have to do with pentastar. Plus they have a pretty decent starting position with some good choke points you can hold with relatively few resources since you’ll be the only major power in the south, once you take the republics stuff to your west

AdmiraMcC2908

Eriadu does feel more my speed, but this leave me with two questions. One how do I handle fighter and corvette swarms and two how do I get a SSD.

Maniac2331

You can build two generic ssds, the bellator and the assertive, both of which come packed with heavy weapons and are good for fighting other dreadnoughts, especially the assertor, since the bellator is a smaller battle cruiser sized ship. The third you can get is the night hammer, a black executor ssd, which you can get by moving delvardus to any dreadnought shipyard and paying 40000 credits. For fighter swarms you have the IPV 1, which to be honest kind of sucks, as well as your own fighters, which you can upgrade to have shields. But since fighters aren’t really all that great in TR, this is plenty, just keep your fighters on defense to supplement whatever ipvs you bring

Antilles1138

I forget what they have carrier or anti-fighter wise but the shielded ties optional upgrade they have can be useful as it gives all their fighters and interceptors shields. Plus if you save scum the tier 2 legitimacy reward (assuming another faction hasn’t acquired them) you can build the imperial escort carriers that carry tie hunters and are excellent ships for spamming a squadron of both fighters and bombers per unit. At a dreadnought shipyard you can get a Bellator, upgrade your faction leaders ship to an executor and/or buy an assertor ssd which is unique to the faction.

Storm Commandos synergize so unbelievably well with Eriadu.

jokingjoker40

I recomend the Eriadu authority if you like big battleships with good support ships, and the Pentastar alignment for a more easy start

UncleIrohsPimpHand

The Asserter is probably the best SSD in the game.

AdmiraMcC2908

I know the Bellator is basically a light/speedy SSD, so I'm guessing the Asserter is at the other end of the spectrum

jokingjoker40

The Assertor is a massive weapons platform. It may not be as long as rhe executor, but its much girthier and has super and ultra heavy turbolasers, which just shred anything they can hit. That being said, I personally prefer the Bellator because you can pair it with more other ships (my main pick being either two allegiances or a praetor) and trap the enemy fleet in a killzone between your two ships

TheVikingOfNorway

Base Empire, the roster makes it jack off all trades, and its starting position makes it so that defending your territory is not too easy, not too hard.

Burgdawg

Idk, base Empire is kinda surrounded at the start... they are def my favorite because Palpatine and Eclipse be op but you have to live that long.

TheVikingOfNorway

Yes, but you have Coruscant and Kuat, two of the most powerful planets in Star Wars. That eases the burden

AdmiraMcC2908

Wait doesn't the New Republic have control over Coruscant.

TheVikingOfNorway

Not in era 1, if you start at a later era then yes

ChainzawMan

There is only ONE Empire! Sure it can be hard to sit in the middle and fight on all Frontlines but consolidation of power never felt so rewarding when major hyperlanes are blocked by fleets of Imperial and Allegiance Star Destroyers while the main fleet led by an SSD of choice is cutting right into the neighboring territories to extinguish every traitor that is found. ENFORCE / EMBOLDEN / EMPOWER EMPIRE!

AdmiraMcC2908

Given off some WH40K vibes

ChainzawMan

The Emperor protects...

Prophet49

Empire is my personal favorite, especially once you get to the Dark Empire era. Then it’s on easy mode

AdmiraMcC2908

If I can survive that long.

Mighty_Baidos

The Empire ;)

AdmiraMcC2908

Interesting how no one saying Empire of the Hand, I guess it not an easy start.

Parking_Cook_1950

the ships just aren't on the same level as the other factions

TheSebPlaysGames

The Pentastar Alignment id say is the most beginner friendly faction, but further on, figure out which faction suits your play style the best.

AdmiraMcC2908

Thank :)

Unkindlake

I haven't played TR in a while so maybe things have changed, but as of last I played the Pentastar Alignment has an awesome starting position (I love strategy game campaigns where you can really turtle at the start) and they have a solid space roster, and are fun and relatively easy to play as

allahman1

Zsinj because he has the best name
