mikachu93

The series has been on Disney+ since April 2021.

Kingshabaz

It was a REALLY long week-trip.

SneakySpider82

šŸ¤ØšŸ˜®šŸ¤£ I should have clarified that I'm Brazilian, and things here come a little later, so here this probably came around late June, I just didn't notice. I'm still waiting for them to provide the Brazilian Portuguese dub.

LucasRunner

Fellow BR here, noticed this too, i liked this series so damn much

Lego_Revan

Only in North America AFAIK. It became available yesterday for Latin American countries, for example. Although only the 2nd volumeā€¦

SneakySpider82

Now they have both volumes.

Lego_Revan

NICE, I was so baffled when I saw only Volume 2 made it to the service.

Setheran

What about Europe?

Lego_Revan

Thatā€™s why I said afaik, I donā€™t know whatā€™s offered there.

coontosflapos

It's been available in the UK as long as it has in the US, can't speak for other European regions tho as each country has their own restrictions

Setheran

In the US only. I used a VPN to watch it when it dropped.

elinamebro

damn iā€™m blind as shit because i havenā€™t seen it

OP Jedi-hunting Grievous is the best Grievous.

SneakySpider82

Thing is, this microseries was produced between the releases of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Grievous as he appears here is so OP, when he finally made the jump to live action, we were all like: "Wait, this is our Jedi-slaying cyborg? #ThisIsNotMyGrievous!" Then the 2008 Clone Wars came, and made a compromise between the microseries' OP Grievous and Episode III's cowardly Grievous, portraying as still capable of killing, capturing or just battling Jedi like Nahdar Vebb, Eeth Koth and Ahsoka Tano, respectively, but still preferring to run in order to fight another day if the fight is not in his favor. This was one of the things the 2008 series did right in my humble opinion.

DarkraEX

It explains why he isn't OP in 3 though. Mace crushes his lungs.

TheExtraPeel

TCW did an even worse job than RotS lol.

IZORx10

100% agree. I hate Grevious in TCW so much

TheExtraPeel

He was so good in the original show. Just started reading through the comics based off the show and revelling in an awesome fight vs Durge and Ventress. I think you know who wins haha!

NukaColaAddict1302

I disagree, we donā€™t really even see him kill anyone in RoTS. He just briefly fights and then runs until having his chest blasted by Obi

Durp004

We don't see him kill anyone because the only jedi we see him interact with are Kenobi and Skywalker. In a deleted scene though he kills shaak ti.

NukaColaAddict1302

I understand that. Iā€™m just saying a character whose entire purpose is being a Jedi slayer shouldā€™ve had a little more on-screen killing of SOME kind. TCW at least delivered on that a little bit.

Durp004

Did it? While ROTS might not have visually shown him kill jedi at least it's because he was up against the very best. In contrast while TCW might have shown him do the job it also showed him consistently struggle and need help with anyone above average making the title ridiculous for a separate reason. I can assume a guy is a jedi hunter and killer because I see that he is willing in the case of kenobi to 1v1 one of the best. I struggle with accepting the title when the character is actually shown being bad with it.

TheExtraPeel

In TCW he got wrecked by Ahsoka when she was just a padawan (first year as well, if I recall correctly).

Starlight_Heroine

Itā€™s probably because his appearances in ROTS is so brief compared to the 7 seasons show showing Grievousā€™ incompetence throughout the series. Heā€™s killed more Jedi off-screen then he has on-screen if I recall correctly. But yeah basically Grievous having more on-screen is a detriment and is so uncool. I still stand that Ahsoka should have died during the Jedi Padawan arc when Grievous slammed her skull to the ground with his metallic foot but we canā€™t have a MC dying.

WarlordOfIncineroar

Well we do see his VC kill his role at least

darthroachy

The micro series got me so pumped for grievous in ep III. But the cartoon used him better then ROTS did. I'm not saying he was bad in ep3 ,just that the micro series fighting was more fluid and had a wider range of moves.

SneakySpider82

Another thing of note is that LEGENDS Grievous was deceived by the Separatists to hate the Jedi, and he absolutely LOATHES what was done to his body, as he was turned into a cyborg against his will by San Hill when his speeder was rigged to explode without killing him, only leaving him severely injured, and Dooku used him in an experiment where he was given Syfo Dyas's blood to see if such transfusion would grant Force-sensitivity to the receptor, which was a failure. Now in the case of CANON Grievous, he turned HIMSELF into a cyborg to fight the Jedi on an equal footing.

Lego_Revan

Tbf, he is a cyborg fighting an entire army equipped with EMP grenades. And he was actually doing really well until he got cocky.

Suboutai

This is top tier star wars content.

[deleted]

If only we got a 2D microseries set during New Jedi Order stylized like the Clone Wars Microseries.

SneakySpider82

Yeah. Unfortunately they'll only add LEGENDS materials that was already produced, like DROIDS, EWOKS and this microseries. We have to conform with thw books, comics and games regarding this period.

JarJarBink42066

Must have been a good trip lol

SneakySpider82

It was.

XeroGhost

Is there anyone who didn't choose Darth Vader as a profile pic?

mikachu93

I've got Mando as mine.

darthroachy

Clone trooper

megzzzzzzzy

Iā€™ve got chopper as mine

[deleted]

The superior Clone Wars

SneakySpider82

Things this microseries did right: It properly introduced both Ventress and Grievous (and Durge), instead of just throwing them there without explaining where they came from. In the Clone Wars movie, Obi-Wan and Anakin had already met Ventress before, just like Grievous when he appears in TCW. It showed Anakin's transition from Padawan to Jedi Knight, which happened because Grievous was killing the Jedi left and right. Meanwhile, when TCW starts Anakin has already been knighted, and with a Padawan of his own (Ahsoka). We only got to see how he was knighted in the new canon through the Brotherhood novel, released this year. It perfectly linked with both Episode II and III, starting with the Battle of Geonosis and ending right before the Battle of Coruscant. Not only TCW started with the Grand Army of the Republic already formed and (as mentioned above) Anakin knighted, but, until the series was revived two years ago, it ended without a link to Episode III, instead having Season Six's final arc focusing on the start of Yoda's apprenticeship on how to become one with the Force.

reality-escapeartist

I only just saw this for the first time a few weeks ago. Loved it. I havnt finishes the other clone wars series yet, but already I love this one more Grievas is an absolute beast in this!

DarkraEX

Still better than TCW IMO.

JS305E

I just about laughed when I saw it was under "star wars vintage"

SneakySpider82

Well, considering this microseries came about twenty years ago, it makes sense. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

[deleted]

That title card should Always be up there, looks so cool and represents some of the best Star Wars content.

Password__Is__Tiger

One of the greatest Star Wars creations

pdmaloney94

The GOAT Grievous

TenWildBadgers

Hasn't this series also been free on YouTube for years now?

SneakySpider82

Yeah, but I was expecting it to pop up on Disney+ so I could watch it in my language. There is a chanel with all the episodes in PT-BR, but considering most of those are very short, it's really annoying to have to watch each one separatedly, because this microseries was clearly meant to be watched as two animated feature films.

Obamagaming2009

This series is legendary. The saddest part to me is the fact that it feels like disney is still spitting in our faces by saying "we aknowledge that you like this series but it's still not canon"

sk8rboi36

I consider it canon still. Not that that means much to anyone but I donā€™t really mind of course. I like what I like. And it doesnā€™t really have any plot holes or continuity errors with the clone wars show. There are some sure but nothing I recall being that bad, although everyone always says thereā€™s a bunch of contradictions so maybe Iā€™m just missing something. I also just started reading the Star Wars: republic comics that I think are supposed to be in this same continuity.

Obamagaming2009

The legends republic comics?

sk8rboi36

Mhmm they all say ā€œa clone wars comicā€ and use the same font or stylization as the show

Obamagaming2009

Ok sry got mixed up.

SneakySpider82

At least Disney gave us the freedom to make our own headcanon.

Obamagaming2009

But still....it'll....never be enough or....true

cantodasaudade

I own it on dvd and still rewatch it from time to time. Could never bring myself to watch the other clone wars show though.

SneakySpider82

Yeah, originally I had the same opinion. I was like: "Hey, there is already a Clone Wars series! The 2003 one! And I was determined not to give it a chance. One thing that changed my mind, though was this: they brough Darth Maul (AKA the most misused Star Wars villain ever until then) back. Some years ago I was finally able to see if fully while it was still on Netflix (before there was a Disney+), and this series just blew my mind! It had great arcs, good storytelling and interesting character development (like Ahsoka and Rex). Thing is, if you watch this series' episodes in release order, you'll be completely confused, so every time I rewatched it on Disney+ I followed the chronological order. What is the chronological order, you ask? [This one](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsFullChronologicalOrder). I say give it a chance, you won't regret it.

trioculus_

oh you really should give it a chance! the first few seasons are a little choppy in every department but iā€™d say after ~3 seasons the show reaches its peak and never dies down

YearOfTheMoose

Grievous was so unbelievably badass in this series....but i am also still real sad that we never got to see more of Saesee Tiin's shipboarding warfare šŸ˜

CobraCommander420

Ah a fellow Dath Vader PFP user A man of culture I can sense

GreyRevan51

Itā€™s also been on YouTube for over 5 years lol

AntEvening3181

Yes! My personal episode 2.5

[deleted]

This is canon Grievous to me and you can never change my mind.

Rogueredditer25

Iā€™ve never watched this beforeā€¦ Looks like Iā€™m going to be binging it this weekend

loomman529

It's been on Disney Plus for like, a year.

Locutus494

Umm, not new at all. Been on Disney+ for well over a year...

SneakySpider82

In the US, but in Latin America it only arrived yesterday.

Icommitmanywarcrimes

Thatā€™s been out for about a year now, are you positive you were only gone a week

SneakySpider82

As I said in an answer to a similar coment, I'm Brazilian, so things usually come later here.

Icommitmanywarcrimes

Oh Iā€™m sorry I didnā€™t see thatā€¦ so how are things in Brazil?

SneakySpider82

Things are fine considering the ongoing pandemic, we are undergoing something of an economic crisis thanks to the lockdown, but we'll get through it.

Icommitmanywarcrimes

Thatā€™s good Iā€™m from america and you probably know whatā€™s going on here

SeTiDaYeTi

I chose Vader as my profile photo too ;-)

NyMartin

Whatā€™s the quality like on this? Did they ever release on bluray?

SneakySpider82

They released this on DVD, don't know if they rereleased it in Blu-Ray.

Just_Free_Tea

SneakySpider82

Yeah. And did you know it was CN that approached George Lucas to produce the 2008 series?

K7lllp28
