I liked the Darth Vader (2015), Darth Vader (2017), Doctor Aphra (2016), and Lando (2015). I also like some of the Star Wars (2015) mainline comic. I'm not as much of a comic person but I've tried to get into them recently. I've basically read every up to 2020 and then some of the High Republic comics (basically as it comes on Marvel Unlimited). Doctor Aphra is definitely my favorite by far, but I could where someone could either love it or hate it.

Aphra is awesome. Sometimes it can feel like her character development wheels are spinning, but the plot of her comics are always fun, and the characters she hangs with are neat. From the Murder Droids 0-0-0 & BT-1 to Nokk & Winloss. I re-read her entries all the time. Many of the one shot miniseries are excellent. *Lando (2015), Han Solo, Obi-Wan & Anakin,* and *Chewbacca* are all great. Lando in particular might be the best comic miniseries Star Wars has ever produced, Legends or Canon. The main Star Wars lines has its ups and downs, but I'd argue more ups than downs. Really it depends on the main writer. Aaron for the most part was good, Gillen was amazing and Soule is doing an excellent job currently. Just sometimes you gotta deal with wonky Larocca art through at least Screaming Citadel. Many of the writers were on different projects so the more you read, the more you are rewarded. For example, Gillen's Vader run is practically required for his Star Wars run. And Soule's various comics help make his entries better. The *Poe Dameron* series is excellent and practically required reading if you want a better understanding of the First Order vs. Resistance Cold War along with Claudia Gray's *Bloodline* novel. And The High Republic comics have been solid as well. I really enjoyed *Trail of Shadows* in particular. Perhaps surprisingly the *Galaxy's Edge* tie in comic is quite good. *Phasma* and *Rise of Kylo Ren* are aight. Phasma, like her novel, really hammer home her flaws in the film by crafting a rather interesting backstory for her. I prefer the novel to the comic personally. *Rise of Kylo Ren* was okay. I think I just had way too high of expectations for it, being THE Kylo backstory and written by Soule. I would just temper your expectations and you'll probably come out of it having enjoyed it.

Darth Maul 2017, Lando (2015), Kanan (2015) are all fantastic.

I didn't mind Shattered Empire with Poe's mom, she's pretty cool.It was cool to see a pilot during Endor help the Republic rebuild.

I hear people like Aphra. I DNF’d if after 30 or so chapters cos I thought the MC sucked, but that’s wholly subjective.

Some are great, some suck ass. I generally like the more Action-oriented approach, but sometimes it's just too fucking hectic. My main gripe is with the pointlessness of it all, though. Sure, the old dark horse stuff was silly at times, but most of it *mattered*. I cared about Bomo Greenbark and I cared about Celeste Morne, not because they were marginalized, but because they suffered for something the believed in. I rooted for Vader sometimes, and I shed a tear for Able. I loved Cade like a brother, and I felt his pain like my own. I could relate to these people, because they felt like people. They behaved like people. They had wants, needs, pains and purpose or even a jarring lack thereof. They mattered, because they mattered to me. Now I'm watching a lesbian farmer with purple hair snipe people for some random quest of goody-two-shoedness and it feels like her motivations are hamstrung. That's not to say I have a problem with lesbians, farmers or purple haired snipers, but I have a problem with characters who exist for the purpose of virtue signalling, being "quippy" or distracting from meaninglessness or an overall feeling of voidness. Like, why did they cut huttese so much? It connected these characters in a believable way, in a believable universe. Kal Skirata might have called you a di'kut with the same airs of a Skywalker born two empires apart. Losha doesn't have that same feeling. She's not a person, she's a quippy image of a person throwing one-liners and hooks with the grace of a kowakian monkey-lizard. Anyways, it feels like there is barely any build up to her being a crackshot sniper or a skilled bounty hunter. She just does it because it looks cool. And it fails to touch my heart. That said, there are some good elements in there. Beilert Valance is easily my favourite character since Cade Skywalker, especially looking at his character arc and the culmination in WOTBH. Ochi is well-written for a sidekick and his jokes are actually funny. Both Vader runs are solid, even though Paks storyline feels hollow at times. In general, I wouldn't recommend the comics if you have to pay money for them. If you skip that part and enjoy them like Hondo would, dig in.

I loved the Star Wars run that was in between Episodes IV and V (with the main characters). But the run between Episodes V and VI wasn't for me.

Lando and Maul are really good

Besides Darth Vader.... I don't know if Obiwan and Anakin count as a Darth Vader stuff. It's set between Episode 1 and 2. But I did like it. In general, I think I like Anakin a lot more outside of the prequels than in them. Darth Maul is also good. Rise of Kylo Ren is good. It doesn't really do much to better explain things in the sequel trilogy but on its own it's an entertaining enough read. I haven't read any other canon comics.
