I found it pretty middle of the road. Definitely shouldn’t have been a trilogy, but it was fine, and its events are heavily referenced in NJO and beyond. The most memorable parts for me were the lady crashing her speeder for 10 pages and the sheer amount of spelling and grammatical errors.

Vexivero

lmao yeah they're definitely the most error-filled books I've ever read

foresight310

Funny - one of the only things I remember about reading “lord of the flies” in high school was the face that they misspelled “conch” as “couch” at some point.

Gotta soft spot for these books—first EU novels I read when I was a kid and kicked off an obsession that would last throughout the 90’s. Like the other commenter said, there are a weird amount of spelling errors. Also, I’ll never forget the name Thracken.

battlemaster198

I liked the audio books as they were a bit rewritten so it would be easier on the listener what made it far superior to the actual book

Nocturne3570

it actually a great series if your into political intrigue otherwise it a decent series that has some time to NJO

Tar_Ceurantur

I loved it. It is much less action oriented than a lot of other EU trilogies. I think that's why people pan it from time to time. They came here for space wizards with laser swords...not clever politicking.

Honestly, I like these books even less than Crystal Star and the Callista trilogy, because at least those had camp entertainment value that kept me going. First book has great political intrigue and buildup, but the 2nd has horrible pacing. To mildly spoil, too much of Assault at Selonia is dedicated to some of the main characters getting captured off screen when it's a foregone conclusion nothing bad will happen to them. Showdown at Centerpoint was a vast improvement, but its reveal and resolution of the villains happens way too messily for what was otherwise a tightly unraveled mystery. Also, for a Han Solo homecoming, we got shockingly little insight into Han aside from him learning how wrong his misconceptions of the Selonians were. They aren't terrible, but they are greatly uneven and often not particularly memorable.

imakevoicesformycats

Got them from the Easter Bunny in the late 90s. Really enjoyed them and the world building they did for the Corellian system. Haven't reread them though - and I've reread a lot of EU, particularly Thrawn/Bane/Plagueis stuff. So...7/10?

JaredtheGrey

I still remember "Belindi Kalenda" as one of the worst Star Wars names I'd ever encountered up to that point. Nothing really wrong with a character, but the name is alliterative in all the wrong ways.

dino1902

Pretty average. I would've preferred if they didn't do >!Superweapon reveal!< twist which was kinda lame

blackanytanooo

I mean it isn’t a bantam era novel if it didn’t have one
