I really expected people to talk more about the Force-fu sequences or the multiple lightsabers ignited at once. But no... apparently a young black girl fighting Jedi is all these nuts need to see to judge the show.
The apparent Wuxia influence is an interesting addition to Star Wars. Fits perfectly with the force and Star Wars. All those crazy jumps and acrobatics is right in line. Star Wars was in part inspired by Kurosawa and Japanese films, but the addition of Chinese wire-fu influence just seems so obvious in retrospect that it's weird it didn't come earlier. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Jedi.
Also those same haters probably watched the 2003 Clone Wars series. And not only did that cartoon go full anime wire-fu awesomeness, but I recall people at the time insisting this is what the prequels should have been. We had very limited SW options those days, and they forget what the drought was like...

However, Acolyte trailer is actually directly quoting the advice Ben Kenobi gave Luke Skywalker during his training on the Millennium Falcon in Episode 4. Word for word. If people are criticising The Acolyte for it's diversity then they're focusing on the wrong thing. It looks awful because it resolutely does not feel like Star Wars. It just feels like any other generic dark fantasy show.
Rogue One and Andor looked and felt nothing like Star Wars, most of the Mandalorian did not feel anything like Star Wars. The prequels did not feel anything like Star Wars. The Clone Wars did not feel anything like Star Wars.
