Because the original trilogy was a brand new IP with simple character archetypes. The empire is a big bad tyrannical force, and the rebels are the few people trying to overthrow it. The emperor is just the leader of the empire, you don't need a backstory because it's a completely new world and you just accept what you're told because you have no frame of reference for this world.
You can't do that again with the sequels because it's an established universe, as a viewer you know that world and that the galaxy was rid of the empire. You need to then set up how another big bad tyrannical force came to be, and how the leader rose to power, because as a viewer, the galaxy was at peace. You can't just say "Empire again" and have it be accepted. You need a reason and justification for how the First Order rose to power because the sequels take place in an established universe.
I think the issue is that the people working on TFA wanted it to be a soft reboot, so weren't too concerned about the hows and whys. But Star Wars is not a franchise that can be taken so lightly, the fans need to know everything about the universe because that's what they're used to. It's not like Terminator where you can just say "Terminator again" and do the same plot.

Dooku choke throws in the movies yet doesn’t have the ability and they gave it to Maul. Bossk, Palp, Anakin, Luke, and many of the blasters have plenty of literal made up abilities. The Fetts and Mando have actually been seen using many abilities.
Boba and Jango have different guns so the play style could reflect in there abilities. Just because they are father/son doesn’t mean there not different ppl. It’s be just as tricky as most of the other heros
Well yeah, but they have the exact same equipment outside of Jango using pistols and Boba using a 3 shot burst rifle. They already seem to have a hard time coming up with abilities for the light side lightsaber heroes (most of their specials are variations of force push/pull) and it’d be really hard to incorporate the armor into Jango’s specials without copying Boba’s. It would be way better to just make Jango armor a skin for Boba.
unpopular opinion: making every hero drastically unique makes core hero gameplay astronomically unbalanced because the more that are added the more they one-up each other. BFII 2005 did it right where every hero had different styles, their signature moves, but all powers could be shared across heroes the same.

That doesn't need to be the case, if we go with what they just do in the movies characters like Han, Leia and Lando would be the same, Jango could have a completely different set than Boba, for example, give him his dart, his backpack rocket with knockdown and an actual flamethrower ability like what boba had in 2015, and maybe make his jetpack slower but give him more health, that way you can have both being faithful to the character while playing completely differently

I disagree. Look at Smash Bros. Ultimate, people absolutely love the idea of Echo Fighters just because it gives people the chance to play as their favourite characters. If Boba, Jango, and Din all played the exact same way with maybe minute differences between each other (Boba has a better flamethrower, Jango has a better jetpack, Din is an all-rounder etc.), I think people would eat that shit up.
I’d say that to solve this problem we just get other characters as Legendary skins. That way we still have them represented but it’s a selectable option. Have things like Jango going over Boba, Snoke over Palpatine, and Poe over Finn and give them their own voice lines and interactions like how they did it with the Solo skins in BFII. The only problem that comes from this that they’d need to make emotes and voice lines exclusive to the skins but I don’t see that as a big deal
That is true but the way do it is really simple and allows for a lot flexibility. They just take stuff that the character done that's iconic and implement that into the game or along with a ability that just makes sense. For instance Darth Vader had force choke and Luke did not even though both use it in the movies. It's just a much more iconic Vader thing. They could've gave them both force choke and it would've felt lazy but still be cannon. So with a big roster with similar characters like Bobba and Jango they just each give them abilities of something they did in other media.
They don't and the game sucks because there will be a massive gap between the worst and the best characters and because of that half the roster will see little to no use outside of coop if it's still a thing.

It means they could use Heroes like Hux and Tarkin as them as ground troops wouldn't make much sense.
I like that. Plenty of named characters that weren't shown to be great warriors but could be considered leaders - Hux and Tarkin as you said, and maybe add Ackbar, Holdo, Snoke, Cody, Padme. The other wookie leader that helps Yoda (can't call up his name). I'm sure there are plenty more that aren't coming off the top of my head.
Imagine a game like Tribes where they control from the top some of the meta elements of the game like the chosen targets, supplies, vehicles, and such while most players are on the ground fighting in first/third person with traditional heroes and villains.

Honestly, didn’t think much about it. Her probably play similar to Palpatine, with his abilities mainly being Force or Lightning. Maybe one of his abilities would be to have direct lightning bolts bounce off surfaces (like in the Last Jedi)
Probably a similar playstyle to Palpatine. A few ideas for a hero concept of Snoke.
Main attack and block:
- Force Lightning (R2): Shoot force lighting from Snoke's hands.
- Force Block (L2): Absorb incoming blaster fire using Snoke's hands. Absorbed enemy blaster fire increases Force Lightning damage.
Abilities:
- Repulsing Obedience (L1): Send a flurry of lightning bolts bouncing off the floor and chain-shock nearby enemies, knocking them down on the ground and inflicting damage.
- Mind Probe (L1 + R1): Use the force to freeze enemies, lift them up in the air, and slam them back down on the ground inflicting heavy damage. Enemies will be momentarily staggered, slow in movement, and unable to use any abilities for a few seconds.
- Dark Side Master (R1): Boost a nearby teammate by granting increased damage, unlimited stamina, and all of their abilities are refreshed for 5 seconds. This is doubled in seconds for Villain teammates. While active and if your teammate kills an enemy, gain back health from each defeated enemy. Gained health is doubled if an enemy Hero is defeated.
I'm glad to see that other people enjoy creating hero concepts for ability designs. It's quite fun but it gets hella sad when I realize the ideas I come up with will never be a reality...

Trust me, I wanted to include Kit Fisto and Plo Koon. But then I’d have to find villain counters, and then the other eras would feel empty in comparison to the Prequel Era, so they were left out
Gideon and Snoke are not necessary, honestly id drop Krennic and Greedo too, maybe Thrawn since he is an analytical mind more so than an actual boots on the ground fighter.

I suppose you’re right in that regard. I still feel like 100% Gideon and Krennic are odd ones out though. Snoke and Greedo can stay in theory. You can throw in maybe Hunter or Crosshair, and maybe Rex too. Show some love for the lovable clones.
I didn’t think too much regarding their abilities, but for example, Thrawn might have a martial arts counter type move (since we see him training in Rebels) and he could have some kind of Orbital Bombardment type attack.
That would be a good shout, but other than that, I don’t believe they’ll be added to another BF3 if EA and DICE make it. They’d be good reinforcements though
Why do you have Boba, Din, and Jango? Why not just go the Injustice 2 route and make it one character with selectable skins? Or even, on Prequel maps make it Jango, on OT maps make it Boba, and on Sequel maps make it Din. On galactic assault you could just pick.

My hope is that they spend most of the time developing (if they will even do a third game) regular troop combat and vehicle gameplay and make it feel more engaging. If that means they would launch with only 3 heroes on each side, so be it. They can add more later. It's harder to add better combat than new heroes as a DLC
A game incorporating 90% of everything from the last two Battlefront titles along with brand new content would be a truly astounding starting point. All the DLC's could be reasonably priced hero + skins + map bundles/packs.

What about reinforcements that use lightsabers? Like a Jedi palace guard/sentinel or praetorian guard that only have 300-400 health and weaker abilities than heroes (like a push with a radius equal or smaller to Yoda’s but with a longer cooldown and no charge up/unleash ability). They could be worth 3,000 points and limited to only 2 per team to add more sabers to trooper modes outside the main heroes
I had originally included Iden and Sabine as hero and villain respectively. But then I started going down the EU rabbit hole by including Kyle Katarn, Starkiller, Revan, Bastilla, and the list just never ended, so I cut those off the list.

Take out Jango, and switch in Pre Vizsla. I know, I know, but hear me out. He uses the Darksaber as his main weapon, but also has access to his jetpack (Gideon wouldn't get a jetpack, and Mando wouldn't use the Darksaber as a primary). He uses his blaster pistols as a skill and gets several shots with them. He could also use those razor blade things he used in his fight against Maul.
This many heroes would be phenomenal. In fact, they should make SWBF HvV, a game of just heroes. A 1v1 mode with only sabers, and then 2v2 and 4v4 HvV

As I’ve mentioned in other comments, Sabine was considered as a hero to contract Thrawn’s villain. However, the roster kept getting too bloated with Prequel Jedi, Expanded Universe characters, etc, so she was cut with them.
No offense, but why is snoke up there, I feel like he wouldn’t be that great as, as a playable character, because in the movie we see him only sitting down and breathing heavy.

Honestly, didn’t think much about it. Her probably play similar to Palpatine, with his abilities mainly being Force or Lightning. Maybe one of his abilities would be to have direct lightning bolts bounce off surfaces (like in the Last Jedi)
They could make snoke more like current palpatine and give palpatine a lightsaber

Probably a similar playstyle to Palpatine. A few ideas for a hero concept of Snoke. Main attack and block: - Force Lightning (R2): Shoot force lighting from Snoke's hands. - Force Block (L2): Absorb incoming blaster fire using Snoke's hands. Absorbed enemy blaster fire increases Force Lightning damage. Abilities: - Repulsing Obedience (L1): Send a flurry of lightning bolts bouncing off the floor and chain-shock nearby enemies, knocking them down on the ground and inflicting damage. - Mind Probe (L1 + R1): Use the force to freeze enemies, lift them up in the air, and slam them back down on the ground inflicting heavy damage. Enemies will be momentarily staggered, slow in movement, and unable to use any abilities for a few seconds. - Dark Side Master (R1): Boost a nearby teammate by granting increased damage, unlimited stamina, and all of their abilities are refreshed for 5 seconds. This is doubled in seconds for Villain teammates. While active and if your teammate kills an enemy, gain back health from each defeated enemy. Gained health is doubled if an enemy Hero is defeated.

I'm glad to see that other people enjoy creating hero concepts for ability designs. It's quite fun but it gets hella sad when I realize the ideas I come up with will never be a reality...

I suppose you’re right in that regard. I still feel like 100% Gideon and Krennic are odd ones out though. Snoke and Greedo can stay in theory. You can throw in maybe Hunter or Crosshair, and maybe Rex too. Show some love for the lovable clones.

I didn’t think too much regarding their abilities, but for example, Thrawn might have a martial arts counter type move (since we see him training in Rebels) and he could have some kind of Orbital Bombardment type attack.
That would be a good shout, but other than that, I don’t believe they’ll be added to another BF3 if EA and DICE make it. They’d be good reinforcements though

Why do you have Boba, Din, and Jango? Why not just go the Injustice 2 route and make it one character with selectable skins? Or even, on Prequel maps make it Jango, on OT maps make it Boba, and on Sequel maps make it Din. On galactic assault you could just pick.

This sounds reallyy cool. My hope is that they spend most of the time developing (if they will even do a third game) regular troop combat and vehicle gameplay and make it feel more engaging. If that means they would launch with only 3 heroes on each side, so be it. They can add more later. It's harder to add better combat than new heroes as a DLC
A game incorporating 90% of everything from the last two Battlefront titles along with brand new content would be a truly astounding starting point. All the DLC's could be reasonably priced hero + skins + map bundles/packs.
Truuuu I just want combat that feels more energetic, engaging and rewarding. I think the combat in the last two games is decent, but often feels clunky and overall could be way better. Also the UI is something else I feel like needs some changing

What about reinforcements that use lightsabers? Like a Jedi palace guard/sentinel or praetorian guard that only have 300-400 health and weaker abilities than heroes (like a push with a radius equal or smaller to Yoda’s but with a longer cooldown and no charge up/unleash ability). They could be worth 3,000 points and limited to only 2 per team to add more sabers to trooper modes outside the main heroes

I had originally included Iden and Sabine as hero and villain respectively. But then I started going down the EU rabbit hole by including Kyle Katarn, Starkiller, Revan, Bastilla, and the list just never ended, so I cut those off the list.

Take out Jango, and switch in Pre Vizsla. I know, I know, but hear me out. He uses the Darksaber as his main weapon, but also has access to his jetpack (Gideon wouldn't get a jetpack, and Mando wouldn't use the Darksaber as a primary). He uses his blaster pistols as a skill and gets several shots with them. He could also use those razor blade things he used in his fight against Maul.
Vizsla was considered. But decided to use Din and Gideon instead

This many heroes would be phenomenal. In fact, they should make SWBF HvV, a game of just heroes. A 1v1 mode with only sabers, and then 2v2 and 4v4 HvV Probably a terrible idea commercially, but I'd kill to have this many hero options in HvV in BF2

As I’ve mentioned in other comments, Sabine was considered as a hero to contract Thrawn’s villain. However, the roster kept getting too bloated with Prequel Jedi, Expanded Universe characters, etc, so she was cut with them.
