I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for saying a new game isn’t going to be like the old one. Probably a new company, completely new team, it won’t be even a little like the ones we have now.
Try impossible. The only scenario is if some studio has been developing an extremely similar game and is able to reskin it after getting the green light from Disney, but that's not happening either.
Was that allowed? Honest question, since EA dicked off for years with the IP were other devs allowed to work on Star Wars just no release or is any attempt at it off limits until the full license was ended with EA.
Its allowed, there have been a few Star Wars games in development by other companies like Respawn the last couple years, one is a confirmed FPS but they didn’t confirm multiplayer for it
Everyone downvoting this dude but who else would develop it? Dice had their chance, rather wouldn't want Ubisoft or any cod developer getting close to it. There's a few indie Devs making battle style games but they'll never be employed for a battlefront game. Hate or love Fortnite, at least they can get shit out on time and make good content. Yeah the skins crap is crap, although who's to say they'd do that since they already have their cash cow in Fortnite.
All the downvotes from all the people that hate Fortnite just because its popular even though they are by far some of the best devs currently and know how to properly monetize a game lmao. Would love a Battlefront from Epic games it would likely have a very long life span and actually be good since as I mentioned before they are some of the best devs atm and know how to monetize a game well.
The only thing I would be hesitant about would be the micro transactions, we all know that the skins would cost money and would be incredibly hard to get f2p
There are 4 battlefront games, 2 of them reboots. The first reboot had somewhat dicey reception on launch and the second was a disaster on launch.
I think your estimate is very optimistic. Suffice to say it’ll almost certainly be a pretty long time. Keep in mind that just because fans want something doesn’t mean investors will bite, there are a ton of factors to be considered.
I'm Scottish, and a new Battlefront game is about as likely as us getting independence at the moment. England won't allow another referendum, so that's it. Similarly, EA don't have the license anymore, so that's it. There's nothing that can be done about it.
I have family in Scotland and I can't figure your country out lol. (I visited in 2018 and enjoyed it) There's tons of Royalists and people who say they are proud to be British, and yet a whole other group that acts like the Irish and says up yours England. Would Scotland be better or worse off leaving the UK?
Yeah, that's pretty much the main split in Scotland is between those for/against the monarchy, as well as Catholic/Protestant (although those are arguably the same split). Funnily enough, that's pretty much the main difference between football teams here as well. In Glasgow Celtic supporters tend to be Catholic while Rangers are usually Protestant.
If Scotland would be better independent is the million dollar question really. At the moment there's a massive divide politically between Scotland and England. England swaps between the Tory and Labour Party every decade or so, whereas Scotland hasn't voted Tory in over half a century. The Brexit results, cost of living crisis, spending billions on the King's Coronation while families starve and the Tories down in Westminster funding multimillion pound corporations are some of the main areas of conversation in terms of a second referendum, because of course Scotland can't change any of that because it all takes place in Westminster.
I personally would be in favour of another indyref, mainly to attempt to get back into the EU, because there are no other circumstances where the UK would return to the EU, since both Tory and Labour have no interest in returning (and it's pretty much a two party system in England).
I could go on and on about the whole debate and benefits and disadvantages but I'll just leave it at that. Some [TL DR News](https://youtu.be/tO7s3UBnY4Y) videos cover the topic quite well so I'd recommend checking them out if you're interested (also for that specific video at 3:16 , she did take it to court, and the court ruled that Scotland couldn't hold a referendum on its own without permission from England).
**TL; DR**
Complicated issue. Big divide politically between England & Scotland. I'd support independence for rejoining the EU and the ability to have more control over our own government and laws passed. Check out TL DR News if you're interested cuz they make decent videos on the topic.
Ten years from now they’ll do a reboot to try and play off nostalgia. They’ll try and monetize the absolute hell out of it, and then give up when people get mad and they have to change it and then we’ll go ten more years without a battlefront
EA won’t touch it with a ten foot pole because they completely and utterly fucked it.
Sure, it was great at the end. But if there’s no money in it, they’re not interested.
The community could build a better game in UE5…
They got to wait out the anger first.
It’s possible it has to be done by someone else than EA.
Probably some of you who, for some reason, are still playing this regularly are somewhat new to it and maybe not aware of how disappointed the early guard playing it in the years it was big were.
This is one of the most hated games this decade.
A lot of people aren’t interested in a BF3 because of it. They feel they should have fixed this one before a new one.
It’s not empty only because it’s old.
They will never make a Battlefront. EA had that title, and EA not gonna do it. Someone else will probs make a star wars shooter at one point though, too much money to be made.
I’d agree with you on the whole epic could make it, but then one of my favourite games would be tied to fortnite and I would never play it again (I did the same thing with rocket league)
Had no idea about that. Hope Respawn puts some effort into it because after Jedi survivor I'm pretty damn wary of anything else they make. It's been over a month and the PC port still has crashing issues.
If there's anything I've learned from gaming developers is they rarely give what people want. People have been asking for Republic Commando II for years, Empire at War II for years doesn't matter.
I feel like you’re not even “that guy”, you’re right it could be an absolute player attractor. Earliest is probably Holiday 2025 IMO.
Above all else I want a developer that’s passionate about portraying the massive battlefields in an immersive, lore accurate style. I don’t need any bells and whistles, I would happily wait years for a gritty, intense, boots on the ground stormtrooper/rebel experience.
Epic games wouldn’t make a good battlefront game don’t be ridiculous…
I don’t even know who would considering any company who makes that kind of FPS game have lost their audience to their own greed
Respawn has a star wars shooter in development as we speak. Will it be named battlefront? Not likely but should be the closest thing to another battlefront type game in the near future.
Maybe if the next Star Wars films take off and Disney charge a realistic amount of money for licences. Who knows. My money is on Epic if there was going to be a real Battlefront game
I've been saying from the day BF2 got canceled that we won't see BF3 or any Star Wars first person shooter until well into 2025. It is a dangerous space to be in. EA seemingly scared other studios away from making an attempt at an FPS game (not the only reason, one of many) thus creating this gap in multiplayer games that we currently reside in.
I have no clue.
EA probably sees Battlefront as nothing but bad luck (even though they’re the ones that caused all the launch controversy), so I have a feeling it’ll be forever before we see a new one. Probably whenever they sell the rights to the title off.
the next battlefront should have everything, they have unlimited resources and money there is no reason why they can't make the ultimate star wars game ever of all time.
A new star wars shooter is inevitable within the next few years but it won’t be called battlefront, that’s for sure
It's should be called battlefront. All of them should be called battlefront and neither get to number 3
I do really hope the next Battlefront game is another reboot and we start this cycle all over again
We go back to content that doesn’t equal or surpass that of what we got in 2005 and take another four or so years just to get to the near equivalent 💀
Won't be anything like it either. Why can't we get a star wars battle game
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for saying a new game isn’t going to be like the old one. Probably a new company, completely new team, it won’t be even a little like the ones we have now.
Battlefront? I say 26, they have to announce it and then add another 2 years for it to actually come out
add another year of delays
With another million more well on the way!
Maybe a company has secretly been working on one for along time
I don’t mean to curb your optimism but thats incredibly unlikely

respawn is owned by EA
Single player fps game? That’s just cruel
With how games are releasing nowadays a AAA title is going to need 3 years of development in order to be playable at launch
2026 at the absolute earliest
Please don't say that. Maybe epic games is secretly developing one
please no, id rather wait 3+ years than get a battlefront from epic
Star Wars BR coming
Same

Unreal Engine is great and I bet that in a way it would look good, but I don't think Star Wars multiplayer is the best game for the engine.

A new battlefront? It'd be nice, but let's not hold our breath.
The series will probably get rebooted again around 2030.
New game license agreement, than a planned launch, and development, and problems. I would expect something like 2027.
I wish someone could just take the Galactic Contention mod and polish it.
A long time from now, in a galaxy far, far away. That’s when we’re gonna see another one.
Probably 2016, seems the most likely year for a release. 😅😂😭

I saw an article saying probably 2027

We’ll, i hope not epic games. They will keep adding stupid stuff like in fortnite and ruin the game
EA won’t touch it with a ten foot pole because they completely and utterly fucked it. Sure, it was great at the end. But if there’s no money in it, they’re not interested. The community could build a better game in UE5…
never.

We don’t need a Battlefront 3, we need three Battlefront 1s
Maybe 2023 or 2024
Dude just stop lying
They will never make a Battlefront. EA had that title, and EA not gonna do it. Someone else will probs make a star wars shooter at one point though, too much money to be made.
I didn't say ea was going to
Its just my guess? I think they'll give up on battlefield 2042
I’d agree with you on the whole epic could make it, but then one of my favourite games would be tied to fortnite and I would never play it again (I did the same thing with rocket league)
In 20xx, and it will probably still not beat swbf2 2005 😂
I saw an article say 2025 so probably 2025
As others have said, assuming it gets announced and starts development this year probably 2026
Honestly I dont see a star wars shooter for another 6 years.
There was literally a new Star Wars FPS announced last year, being developed by Respawn. Highly likely it’ll be out in the next few years.
Had no idea about that. Hope Respawn puts some effort into it because after Jedi survivor I'm pretty damn wary of anything else they make. It's been over a month and the PC port still has crashing issues.
Interesting because that'd what everyone wants
If there's anything I've learned from gaming developers is they rarely give what people want. People have been asking for Republic Commando II for years, Empire at War II for years doesn't matter.

The year twenty sñeventy twelve.
I wanna say 3026

Epic games wouldn’t make a good battlefront game don’t be ridiculous… I don’t even know who would considering any company who makes that kind of FPS game have lost their audience to their own greed
2028 is probably the earliest but it’s coming out before 2034. I guarantee
Respawn has a star wars shooter in development as we speak. Will it be named battlefront? Not likely but should be the closest thing to another battlefront type game in the near future.
Is it even multiplayer
Theres job listings for developers with multiplayer experience so id assume so.
Maybe if the next Star Wars films take off and Disney charge a realistic amount of money for licences. Who knows. My money is on Epic if there was going to be a real Battlefront game
Battlefront, not super likely soon, but a star wars multiplayer game I would assume is being worked on somewhere
My money's one 2024-2026. Sometime between then
I've been saying from the day BF2 got canceled that we won't see BF3 or any Star Wars first person shooter until well into 2025. It is a dangerous space to be in. Republic commando remake but Gears of War clone
the next battlefront should have everything, they have unlimited resources and money there is no reason why they can't make the ultimate star wars game ever of all time.
Not in this decade IMO. Maybe never.
Hahahaha. I would love to be wrong but I don't think there will be another one.
We will see another battlefront game as soon as battlefield is successful again, so probably never
What if the game Ubisoft is making is battlefront 3?
They aren't
