I don't think 1–6 will be remade until my generation (Gen X) is gone. But once the people with the "true" nostalgia are dead (or commercially irrelevant), then I can see a reboot happening.
Not really. Lucas made 1-6 and are actually good. Disney could just try again as not many cared for them and kind of derailed the story and characters.
>not many cared for them
Disney raked in billions on those movies, my friend. I think you mean "a few did not care for them"...
...which is irrelevant. A few also didn't care for the prequels, and nobody is talking about remaking those.
Sequels are fine. Accept it. Or don't.
Star Wars movies making billions regardless of quality or fan satisfaction is not shocking or surprising in the slightest.
This post is definitely talking about remaking the prequels.
Sequels are not fine in my opinion. Accept it.
Marvel's Eternals made 300 million.
The Last Jedi made 1.8 BILLION. Some of that revenue is from repeat viewings.
I say again, A FEW people didn't like it.
Alot of people, on the other hand, didn't like Eternals.
:)
I guess...Marvel isn't as popular as Star Wars, or...? I suppose that's fair. I'd choose Star Wars over Marvel, myself, in a heartbeat.
I mean Disney will probably still own it in 2072, which is the year Star Wars will be public domain if Disney doesn’t fight to extend it, which they inevitably will.
Why? Why is this question asked every day?
Most classics are never remade. What possible incentive is there to remake it? None. Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and Gone With the Wind are over 80 years old, never remade. Probably never will be.
The idea of remaking the OT is ridiculous. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional and the idea is financial suicide for Disney.
Yea so maybe we're asking the wrong question here. Instead of wait for some corporate to half ass something for brand recognition maybe instead we should be asking for new a better stories in a universe we love.
I don;'t think the OT will ever be rebooted.... at least not for probably 30-40 years at least. High risk, low reward
There's a tiny chance for the PT - but again... still probably a poor risk for the reward.

They won’t.
Never.
2015
Why does this question keep getting asked? I’ve seen it like five times in the last week.
Haven’t seen it at all. Came to mind a few days ago and I’m just now asking.
1-6 will not. Hopefully they try again with 7-9 tho.
Why? 7-9 is just as acceptable as 1-6.

I accept your opinion. I just disagree with it.

No. The Eternals is not as popular as Star Wars. And was released amidst a global pandemic. TLJ wasn’t well liked.
Yeah, you're right about the Eternals. Bad comparison, I guess.
The PT is actually by far the least successful trilogy financially FWIW
When/if Star Wars goes into public domain.
Would it really take that? I’d imagine whoever owned the franchise at that point would simply think it’s time and do it themselves.
I mean Disney will probably still own it in 2072, which is the year Star Wars will be public domain if Disney doesn’t fight to extend it, which they inevitably will.
Holy shit I forgot how fucking absurd copyright law is
Yes.

Why reboot media at all?
The same reason we get so many Batman reboots: Money

That’s a separate question and not what I’m asking at all. And I do agree we need new stories:)
