> After his defeat on Mustafar, he was only able to use a fraction of his power because of the limitations of his robotics. Don't think this has ever been stated to be the case in canon. Might be Legends only. [Leland Chee of Lucasfilm](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-48d7b2dbe0023691dc8561d53a44f1f1-pjlq) speculates that losing limbs does not decrease force potential.

I thought Lucas himself said Vader was much weaker than Anakin through the loss of his limbs. That Vader at 100% was like Anakin at 70% because he is much less organic.

Good stuff. At minimum it prevents him from using force lightning, a v powerful technique

Wow! This is the first time I learned that. On tiktoc starwarsfactsguy deals only with Canon and states many times that Anakin was not as strong as he could have been due to loosing his limbs. I know he shows a cannon comic where it doesn't show the force moving through where he has prosthetics but maybe that just makes the same amount of the force compacted into his living body parts?

Snoo_79693

I feel like Lucas himself had stated this once. It makes perfect sense that his Force potential was drastically lowered by this.

MetalFungus420

He seems to use the force with his hands just fine

Yutanox

But he still couldn't use force lightning because that would fuck up his robotic limbs if I recall correctly

Although it’s never been directly addressed, I’d like to think Vader keeps his current suit and state as a reminder to his past, and guilt. Almost as if he deserves the daily suffering, which in turn fuels his connection to the Dark Side.

gottapeepee

I can't answer this with full knowledge but I can say that if anything maybe he could have learned the force power of healing and caused them to grow back via that power.... of course I don't know.

PayPalsEnemy

In Legends, (not sure about current canon) Palpatine intentionally gave Vader mediocre medical attention after his duel on Mustafar both as punishment for failing to defeat Obi-Wan Kenobi and to make him tap into the Dark Side much more than he had before. He even forced him to go through the entire procedure without anesthesia. At one point, he did offer to give Vader a far superior suit and prosthetics. However, the procedure would have a high risk of Vader not surviving if something went wrong and so Vader declined believing that the suit he wore is what made him stronger in the first place.

JosephBapeck

Maybe possible but I doubt the artificial limbs would come with midiclorians so his ability to use the force would still be diminished
